The things I've found out from reading all sorts of places... I can't back any of it up with medical knowledge though!

Regarding hot tubs, steam rooms etc - be careful. Generally you want to avoid anything that makes your skin go red (including hot baths at home). The problem is your core temperature raising, so take plenty of breaks in a cooler area. It is up to you if you want to go in them really, just be sensible. I also think the biggest risk is earlier in pregnancy.

The sun - your skin is more sensitive to the sun just now, and you may find if you sun bathe you'll get patches of highly pigmented skin - sometimes these won't go after delivery, but mostly they do. You can also get irregular tanning and blotchy skin. It's advised to use strong sun protection in pregnancy, but again it's up to you.

Mini I'm shorter than most people I know, but not short short... I can never remember my height! Maybe 5'6? I think it depends on the clothes you wear really, I'm still wearing my waterproof coat from pre-pg, and it sort of makes a tent over the bump so you can't tell I'm pg at all (and hence no-one giving me a seat on the bus!), but other tops really seem to show it off. The striped blue top photos are from 17w, and the bump is lots smaller :)

HoneyMum21 · 17/09/2012 18:04

Jealous of all of you with lovely bumps. I feel like i resemble a beached whale- DH says not and that i'm very neat, but he has a tendency to say things to make me happy!

Well, MIL left yesterday and i'm recovering. After arriving 4 and a half hours after she said she would(we didnt get to have tea till after half 9) the first thing she said when i had a cup of tea (earl grey, bought specially as she whines about anything else) ready waiting for her was '(tut) your mug is chipped. We told her we'd ordered the pram, but we weren't going to tell her that my mum had paid for it as we didn't want her to feel obliged to help out with a similar amount, but she kept questioning how we could afford it and then started on with 'you should of waited,i'm sure DH's grandparents wanted to buy the pram' (which had never been mentioned before) so we told her my mum had helped out and that we'd used vouchers we got for our wedding for the furniture.
We went into town on saturday, she'd asked us what we needed for the baby and we'd told her the things we hadn't got yet. She insisted on buying us a pack of rainbox muslins in john lewis (£28 for7) which are gorgeous, but not exactly a necessity and that money couldhave covered loads of babygros or plain muslins. Not wanting to seem ungrateful, they are lovely, but she only wants to help out with special things which will be noticed, rather than the everyday stuff that we actually need. We had to stop her spending £18 on a single sleepsuit in Jojo.
She did then get sozzled on most of a bottle of wine on saturday night (i had a very small glass and was given dissaproving looks),which madeher slightly easier to deal with but did mean she made even more inappropriate comments. Ugghhh.

Sorry for epic post.

Lovely bump Stacks!

What a nightmare Honey at least she is gone now and you have some lovely muslins Grin

WeeJo a wheat bag is a, errr, bag of wheat that you can put in the microwave, much like a hot water bottle but with wheat! Your DH sounds amazing! Envy still not got a birthday present from dp

HoneyMum21 · 17/09/2012 18:30

She's coming back 'at least once' before the baby arrives and then plans to be here 'at least once a month'. Angry she doesn't wait to be invited, she announces when she's coming and gets upset when we can't rearrange our work schedules around her. Angry

PurplePidjin · 17/09/2012 18:30

Honey, can you flog the muslins and buy a shedload of plain ones plus some Dylon? Wink

HoneyMum21 · 17/09/2012 18:31

hehehehe Pidj - what a good idea!

Secondsop · 17/09/2012 18:32

What is this thing about coloured muslins? Are they particularly desirable? Why?

HoneyMum21 · 17/09/2012 18:33

ooh, also,if anyone needs a laugh there's a great thread on here at the moment (lt's in 'chat' and also on the righthand side of the page in 'discussions of the day' about faulty babies... it's had me giggling for quite some time!

SpottyTeacakes · 17/09/2012 18:35

I like pretty muslins Blush but Asda and Sainsbury's do nice ones for the same price as white ones!

HoneyMum21 · 17/09/2012 18:35

Seconds - they are really nice and fun... just hideously overpriced for something which is going to be puked and pooed on and no better actual muslins than the ones you can get in big packs for under a tenner!

ellliebelle · 17/09/2012 18:36

Honey i have seen those muslins and desperately want them but can not justify spending that much money on them :( weejo spunds like a lovely surprise party ive had a lovely relaxing 2 nights away with dh for my birthday this weekend. Did some shoppingbon sat got a maternity coat :) thenbto betty's tea rooms for an over priced bun and hotchocolate :) checked into our hotel then out for a nice meal then only got outvof bed on sunday for breakfast then back to bed for a couple of hours followed by lovely long soaknin the bath and massage from dh out for roast dinner and back to bed. Really missed the dd's but dh and i both said we need weekends like that more often :) not convinced it will happen witb 3 dc's :)

PurplePidjin · 17/09/2012 18:37

I'm Shock that anyone thinks £28 for dusters to wipe up puke is anything other than a complete rip off. I'd have taken the sleepsuit, though, Jojo has excellent resale value used!

JL will do store credit at least, surely, so you can go back in the sale?

ellliebelle · 17/09/2012 18:41

Second http://m.johnlewis.com/mt/www.johnlewis.com/231412326/Product.aspx pretty muslins cant remember who said itvbut have to agree that sainsburys do some really nice bright coloured patterned ones but gender specific so i will have to wait :(

SpottyTeacakes · 17/09/2012 18:43

pretty muslins here Grin

ellliebelle · 17/09/2012 18:57

Thanks spotty :)

minipie · 17/09/2012 18:58

Oh how funny that you are all talking about those muslins! I have been looking at them today online, I really quite want some Blush (I am a sucker for brightly coloured things). Wouldn't ordinarily spend that much BUT I was given a gift today from JL and am not very keen on it so thought I might swap for something else from JL. (is that evil?? the giver will never know). So in effect they'd be mostly free.

Off to look at the Asda and Sainsbury ones now.

minipie · 17/09/2012 19:01

Ok am I being dumb? Can't find muslins on Asda or Sainsbo website...
