I would imagine I'll be the first to post here for a little while - I just found out today.

Look forward to hearing for you soon Smile

Just saying hello really, feeling v Envy of all these scans. Don't think I'll have one until 20 wks if it's all straightforward -we don't get dating scans here routinely - boo hiss. That means waiting until middle of August Sad.

Have been having bouts of feeling v queasy (not had that last 2 times so big shock) and also v.v stinky farts. DH is VERY shocked by stench. Have to keep blaming it on DS and DD's nappies in public! Blush

jabberwocky · 26/04/2006 10:15

Queasiness has well and truly kicked in, much more so than with my other two pregnancies, so a bit of a surprise. Lemon Ginger tea has helped tremendously.

Not sure what to advise about cold medicine. I believe benadryl is safe but it never hurts to call and check. Have had raging allergies here and have been doing the salt water sinus flushing which helps a lot, I just really hate doing it.

Angsthase · 26/04/2006 12:40

Ooh salt water sinus flushing - sounds awful - Glad I've only got a cold!
My pg symptoms seem to be wearing off - or is the cold masking them? - bit worried. Well, when I say wearing off, maybe changing. Boobs don't seem to hurt as much, but the greasy hair scenario seems to have moved to my face and I now have the complexion of a 17 year old adolesant! (But still wrinkly - v.attractiveBlush). Still knackered though, so maybe nothing to worry about.

Slink · 26/04/2006 14:10

I have not heard anything from the drs so too early i guess, dd is talking to my belly and telling the baby we won't loose her in a shop! ermmmm i never left her in a shop.... maybe she is trying to tell me something.

I am going to take dd to my scan,.... i want a scan (said in a stroppy teenager way)

Slink · 26/04/2006 20:17

can i take paracetomol if i have a tummy ach???? i ate packet of jaffa cakes ?????????

Debbsy · 26/04/2006 20:36

lol slink its probably the jaffa cakes hun with a touch of wind hee hee.Seriously though i think you can but for me personally i wouldnt as this is such a critical time for babies development.hth :)

Bloo · 26/04/2006 20:46

Hi Slink - I spoke to a pharmacist today actually to ask as I have a headache. Yes you can as long as it's pure paracetamol (not Paracetamol extra, Hedex Extra etc as these have caffeine and other stuff in) but I don't think that will help your tummy ache! Try flat coke?? I think if you can avoid medication then that's better - it's only if the stress to mum is too much to go without that it becomes worth it I think!

Bloo · 26/04/2006 21:36

My stomach has just blown up in size - I don't feel blaoted or constipated - is this normal????

spinamum · 26/04/2006 21:46

Slink, is it tummy ache in a bunged up kind of way? If so, you can take Fybogel(Senokot fibre)-a delightful fibre drink that helps to "maintain regularity".

Sooooooo sweet about your dd's comment about the shop. I wish i could tell my ds

and I WANT a scan too (in even more stroppy teenage voice!)

There is pretty much only an handful of things you can have medicine wise during pg. f.or the various ills we'll suffer.

Mainly

paracetamol
steam inhalation (no oils or menthol)
fibre drinkies
gaviscon
anusol (for later!-oh joy)

if you get new/weird symptoms it's always a good idea to see dr.

resident pharmacist signing off......XXX

spinamum · 26/04/2006 21:52

my tummy seems to have become pg in last few days too (only 5wks)

Is it blown up in that sort of way?

i'm not feeling as bloated at moment either but it can't be my womb cos that's should still be sitting in my pelvis!

really weird.is that what you've got Bloo?

Bloo · 26/04/2006 22:17

yes that's exactly what I've got!!! Do you know if it's ok for me to use Biofreeze gel on my patients it's fab stuff for cross muscles......it's just occurred to me that perhaps I shouldn't be using it / come in to any sort of contact with it! I'm hopeless.

spinamum · 26/04/2006 22:23

i won't use it, especially at this early developmental stage. Can't remember what's in it. i think it's menthol and stuff like that?????

best to avoid, would be my advice.

Bloo · 26/04/2006 22:26

Oh dear. It's too late but I'll stop now. At least it's only been on my palms.......just trying to convince myself!

spinamum · 26/04/2006 22:27

sorry i've read your message properly. you're not using on yourself!!!!

whoops!

i'd try to limit absorption, wash hands, wear gloves(is that appropriate in your role?)

it's a tricky one. i keep meeting people with chicken pox (sudden jump back from me!)

think it's best to do the best yourself and be sensible with the stuff you can't really control.

spinamum · 26/04/2006 22:30

really sorry if i caused you to panic. the ammount on your hands will be tiny and avoiding it is one of those "it's best to , but there's no evidence it's dangerous."

don't worry. i was dealing with cytotoxics in my last pregnancy. (a little bit not lots!!)

Bloo · 27/04/2006 09:07

Thanks loads and no you have scared me - just good sensible advice!!! Don't talk about chicken pox - what can you do - people turn up with all sorts and just don't think about it!!!

lennied · 27/04/2006 09:12

Just saying hello. Hope you are all okay. I've decided that today is the day I am getting my eating under control. No more chocolate Wink or biscuits Sad !! Haven't been going mad but dreamt last night that I was at a post-pregnancy slimmer's world class and weighed in at a ridiculous amount. Think my brain is trying to tell me something!

Slinkymalinki · 27/04/2006 09:41

Hello

I found out on Monday night. It hasn't really sunk in yet. I thought I'd be ecstatic, but I'm feelining a bit bluesy instead, how weird.

Debbsy · 27/04/2006 10:22

Slinkymalinki · 27/04/2006 10:49

Ooops, I must have re- used someone else's name Debbsy, as this is the first time I've posted as Slinkymalinki. Apologies to Slinkymalinki No. 1! I didn't think I'd be allowed to use a name if it was already in use.

Thanks for the congrats anyway! I'm still feeling a bit weird, maybe it's the pressure of keeping such a big secret! I like to wait a bit before telling family, and as long as possible before telling work...

NewSlinkymalinki · 27/04/2006 13:07

Right, have now read the whole thread, it's starting to feel a lot more real and I'm feeling much happier! Have used the calculator I found further down the thread and think I'm due sometime between the 26th and 29th Dec. (Erratic cycle). Have also booked to see GP tomorrow.

This will be No. 2. No symptoms as yet, but I think boobs grew so much and so quickly last time, that there's no stretching to be done in that area! No ms either, but suffered with it really badly last time, so hoping I will be luckier this time. But having no symptoms does make it seem rather unreal. I'm still in shock at it happening first go this time. I suspect dh was looking forward to a bit of a shagfest too!!!

Slink · 27/04/2006 15:57

spina mum, thank you for words of advice, I just went to bed early, and have been drinking water as that seems to help.

I am trying to stay off meds.

xxxx

Bloo · 27/04/2006 16:13

Can I throw something in the air for people to think about for when they give birth....a good reason not to give birth lying or sitting down - your pelvis needs to expand and change shape as the baby passes down the birth canal. If you are sitting on it, it has to distort to achieve this and many people find themselves still suffering a few months down the line. This also can make labour more painful and prolonged. (ouch for Mum and baby!)

lennied · 28/04/2006 08:53

Bloo!! I was eating my cereal while reading that! Please don't make me think about birth just yet, I'm only just coming to terms with nausea and a bloated tum. Smile
