Oh no daisy, that sounds rubbish. Also GTBaby - sorry I have no advice.

I actually slept last night! For more than an hour at a time! I only got up for a wee once after actually falling asleep and was sound until my alarm went off. I feel sooooooooo much better I can't even tell you. Bring on the rope swing!!

Hope you all have a lovely day.

ValiumQueen · 13/09/2012 07:31

That is a possibility daisy. At least they know and are monitoring you. You are past the most challenging weeks, so baby, if they come early, will be that bit stronger. How many weeks are you? Thinking of you, and big hugs x

Titsalinabumsquash · 13/09/2012 07:32

I slept a bit last night. I have to go into town to get DS1 a birthday pressie, still no clue what to get him! 8 year old boys as far as I can tell like poo and farts and football < well mine does anyway>

Iheartpasties · 13/09/2012 07:37

I slept so crap last night! argh! just after saying 'I seem to be sleeping really well at the moment'. grr.

horseylady · 13/09/2012 07:40

Massive huge burn last night at work. Worst burn I've ever had :( the skin instantly fell off......going to get one of the nurses here to check it. It's horrid.

It's my first nct tonight too!!!!

kissyfur · 13/09/2012 07:41

Oh dear daisy hugs!! Will be thinking of you

Iheartpasties · 13/09/2012 07:50

applepieinthesky · 13/09/2012 09:08

daisy Thinking of you, glad your hospital are on top of it and monitoring you closely. Pre-eclampsia has always been a worry of mine. My cousin had it when she was pregnant and her son was born at 30 weeks. He was absolutely tiny and it was touch and go for a while but he is now a normal, healthy 10 year old.

Had an awful night's sleep again. 2 more days at work then I have a much needed week off.

StuntNun · 13/09/2012 09:20

Sorry to hear you're in hospital Daisy. Hopefully once you've had the steroid injections they'll be able to send you home for bed rest.

GTBaby try and move around as little as possible. I have a slipped disc/sciatica/bursitis thing going on atm and the amount of pain is directly proportional to the amount of walking about I'm doing. I went swimming with the boys yesterday and hardly did anythings, just lazed about in the shallow end with DS2 but by the time I got home I had stiffened up and could barely get up the stairs. If it's SPD try and keep your knees together as much as possible, e.g. if you're getting out of the car swing both legs out together. If you're walking up or down stairs take them one at a time. Do you have any painkillers, even paracetamol will take the edge of it a bit. My mum always says to take paracetamol with a cup of tea or coffee, she reckons the caffeine enhances the effect of the painkiller.

I asked DH when he wanted to put the cot up and he said at 36 weeks! Now I'm worried we'll find half the screws are missing and we'll have to rush out at the last minute to buy a cot.

Fatima, regarding the bleeding after the birth, don't let stories get to you. I'm a heavy bleeder, and providing that you change your pads very regularly for the first couple of days and use the most absorbent ones, then you will be absolutely fine - it's not all blood that comes away either, there is lots of clear stuff in it too. For the last 2 births I was able to use Always night pads from the off and will do with this one (against the advise of my midwife as she said they are not designed as a maternity pad, I think she meant the absorbency), but it is in the night that I was the worst because of frequency of changing. I will be sleeping on top of a Pampers mat just in case this time aswell. I'm also a tampon user and loath pads, you will be in the shower A LOT Grin. I hate maternity pads due to the thickness of them, that's why I use Always, they work for me but don't know about anyone else. Also I very much doubt you'll need old dosser clothes for bleeding on if you change very regularly at first, and a big fat LOL to the person wearing nappies, if it was that bad then they should have got up to the hospital for a D&C urgently. Some people just love to exaggerate.

Kissy After a lot of reading, I knew that I had to get my TSH below 2 pronto or there was a high risk of miscarriage and as my last result was 12 it was pretty urgent. Since then it's always been below 1 and my last result was 2 weeks ago and it's fine so I've nothing to worry about there thank goodness. I've also told the doctor that I'm staying on this dose even though technically I'm actually overactive too - I've NEVER felt as 'normal' as this since I was first ill, my doctor has agreed with me and said we will monitor after the birth. If I do feel over then I will try taking the extra 25mcg every other day, then every third day or so before cutting it out completely, again my doctor said we'll try everything :) I am extremely lucky to have my lovely doctor, but it's only after me having to prove myself time and again.

Detective That sounds good, tablets to make me feel normal again, just a shame I've felt like shit for 2 weeks with it.

daisy Oh no! How are you feeling, is it Tameside? If it is then both my sisters were prems there, one was transfered to St Mary's for a while but the care there was absolutely fantastic (that was 20 years ago too). Look after yourself and learn to knit or do something where sitting on your arse is essential Grin

Horsey Just ouch!

Well I slept a WHOLE night last night, didn't even wake up for the toilet (PJ bottoms now in washer from when I eventually stood up :)). Couldn't get an appointment with the doctor as it's same day appointments and 8 mins after opening they had all gone! Had a LOT of discharge this morning, some with brown blood in it ewwwww! I'm not worried though, I know it's my body getting rid of all the shit before my lovely new baby has to come through there Grin.

Feeling slightly better today, but do feel like I might just murder my cat who won't stop meowing and following me round today, and it's only twenty to 10!

ShellyBobbs · 13/09/2012 09:44

Oh and Kissy I've only gone overactive on my regular dose once before and that was February funnily enough and only for 2 weeks. I was managing fine on 4 hours MAX sleep, was absolutely bursting with energy (it really was like I was on drugs) and my hubby got jumped on a few times every night. Then I was pregnant Grin, wonder how that happened!

ShellyBobbs · 13/09/2012 09:45

I also managed to 'have a bit' yesterday morning too, hubby is no longer tripping over his balls.

kirrinIsland · 13/09/2012 09:57

Thinking of you daisy hope you are feeling ok.

And you too horsey - sounds painful. Will that keep you off your horse for a bit?

I'm just going back to bed for a bit. Major heartburn last night meant very little sleep, gaviscon took care of it eventually and then DD woke up!

Brockle · 13/09/2012 10:15

Hope youare feeling ok daisy. At least they spotted it early and they are keeping a good eye on you. To get to thirty weeks is not bad at all. Fingers crossed xx

Resting is the best medicine GT for the SPD. Sitting on a birthing ball helps too and when you rest either sit down with both feet flat on the floor and your back straight (boring I know) or lie down on your side with your hips aligned. Those help me. Baths are great too and you can use an ice pack or hot water bottle (water should be the temp you would have for a bath). You can take paracetomol too. Don't hoover or sweep or do much bending over i.e. let DH take care of the cleaning (on your instructons of course!).

Being at home every day is strange. The week seems so long especially as mum is taking the kids to an from school and DH is checking what I do every day to make sure I don't overstretch myself. Cute but bloody irritating when the floor needs hoovering.

I love my What to Expect: The First Year baby book. It is bible size but great. I have referred to it so many times and got the toddler version too which was also great. Comprehensive and answers the silly questions you don't want to ask anyone.

kissyfur · 13/09/2012 10:27

How strange shelly that's exactly what happened to me! Went overactive in February in the early stages of PG, before I realised I was expecting! Was awful for me tho as had terrible anxiety and palpitations. I also did a lot of reading and ended up going to see a private endo as the NHS weren't going to let me see anyone til the booking in appt at 10 weeks, by which time if my levels were off it could have been too late. It is shocking how little some doctors seem to know about the thyroid issues and pregnancy Angry

Sophiathesnowfairy · 13/09/2012 10:29

Hope you are feeling ok Daisy, if they suspect per eclampsia then it is best they watch you like a hawk.

shelleybobs lucky old you to get a bit! My bits are so sore and swollen I can't imagine it at the mo. this did not happen with the other threeSad it's horrible.

As I moved last week, a whole mile down the road, I have had to change doctors and thus midwife. I was quite teary about this, the slightest thing sets me off, but actually no feel ok about it. My fear was they may make be change hospitals and I didn't want that at this stage. (we are midway between about 3 hospitals and all doctors seem to affiliate to a different one) anyway, I had a sneaky extra midwife appointment because i was new. It wasn't a midwife........but......a MIDHUSBAND!

He was ok, but what was really weird was that he hardly touched my bump before he said what the position was, but then put the Doppler on in exactly the right place to get a really strong loud heartbeat straightaway. Either luck or magic!

If I go by what the spinning babies website says I would be breach, but all the midwives say I am left occupant anterior and having carried breach all they way through with number one I knew there was a head under my boob and she never dropped or engaged and this one has definately dropped this week.

Can't wait to get my broadband sorted out is driving me crazy. Should be working now!!Grin

applepieinthesky · 13/09/2012 10:47

A midhusband? ooooooooooh! Smile

Iheartpasties · 13/09/2012 10:56

A midhusband, quite rare I would imagine!

horseylady · 13/09/2012 11:04

Kirrin doubt it!!! Broken limbs haven't in the past....a burn is unlikely too!! Will ride tonight see how it feels. It's ok again now it's got used to the dressing.

Can't remember who recommended John Lewis for matress but I've ordered it from there!!

Brokle I love those books too!!! So easy to dip in and out of!!!

Scared dh last night as I've packed a small just in case hospital bag. Showed him it and said it's there should I need anything. The baby doesn't have one yet!!

Thechick · 13/09/2012 11:32

Just had a midwife appointment and during the check of the bump bit she was really rough. I had to tell her a couple of times that she was hurting me. I need reassurance from you guys that have the knowledge that she couldn't have hurt the baby, could she? She kept pushing really hard just above the pubic bone saying she couldn't work out if it was the legs or the head. Then told me he was breech and that I shouldn't worry, I really wasn't! I'm 30+4 it's still such early days. Then listened to heartbeat and said he was head down. I've been feeling a bit of movement which is good.

YellowWellies · 13/09/2012 11:43

Oh Daisy and Horsey get well soon. The chick that sounds awful - but I think they can take a rather good battering in there once they are past the assembly line stage - so I shouldn't worry. There is a lot of fluid and membranes in between baby and her hands.

We had a lovely antenatal class last night on BFing. They showed us a video from Norway (where BF rates at 6 months are over 90%) and I got quite teary watching the wee critturs being placed on their Mum's bellies after birth and crawling up to the boob making wee miaowing noises. Also learnt that one of the biggest risks to not being able to BF is not having sufficient fat stores - the body apparently will make a 'you' or the 'baby' decision if there isn't enough fat to make milk and support both of you, it will choose you :( I didn't realise this so am eating cake guilt free this morning to build up my fat pads on my arse and hips (as if they need building up but you need on average 10lbs extra fat from pre preggers days) so MM1 make sure you tell DH this if he is putting you on a restricted diet (because of the diabetes fears) as he might inadvertantly stop you from being able to BF as you are only a slim wee thing!
