ohhhh zoey a kitten!!

Too exciting!!

Does she have a collar? Can we keep her can we keep her??

GummiberryJuice · 28/08/2012 21:08

Hi dontsay
Just checking in, settling down infront of midwives on bbc2

Hope everyone is well, fx a relatively non sick day, still windy though, burp!

Loving all maternity clothes talk, I seen a few dresses on new look website and a friend said h&m was great I don't trust myself to web shop, as tramp called it

Funnylittleturkishdelight · 28/08/2012 21:09

right, tried on round two- three dresses all look great! A little boobilicious, but nothing a vest top can't fix. Can't get over my new boobies, never thought I'd have big boobs!!

theTramp · 28/08/2012 21:10

Zoey - a cute kitten wanders in at end of a crappy day from hell.. It's a sign, jeep her/him you must.

Turkish- glad I could raise a smile. In all seriousness I have some idea of the pain people who have/had eating disorders go through & the constant battle they wage to stay healthy Abd as you say, in the light.

I didn't realise you were a teacher - I get your point re different outfit for each day. Ive the sneakiest suspicion though that you are a seriously sexy minx & a proper bump will add to that. A good cardi & jacket can do wonders and if you get hot & sweaty in the classroom I'm guessing there are a few sleeveless black & other darkish (hiding a multitude of stains) dresses that you could buy & take up a little. When you do get cold layering them over long sleeved scoop neck tops of varying colours & wearing with your comfiest boots or flats you'd look fantastic. And if you're a 5ft3 who can't wear maxi same goes for knee length.

If you don't have one I suggest buying a blazer/jacket a size or two bigger (no need to do it up) or a cute little leather jacket (again if you're usually an 8 a size 10 would prob
work & they're everywhere at mo) to wear
over the ensemble & a good cardi or
jumper would look cool as heck. And when it's v cold wool tights or maternity leggings will be your friend.

My new plan is to build a wardrobe around my fave flats, pregnant friends are most insistent I'm not gonna go near heels after 5 months. This works well actually, gives me focus.

I'm obsessing I know - it's because I feel lumpy & rubbish. I lost over a stone & toned up to a perfect 12 last year. Now I'm a hippy, stomachy, spreading daily arsed frump whose clothes are too tight. But am I eating salad? No I am not :)

Stay sane & strong my dear. And I'm quite serious about the bum thing. All cute celeb mums to be - neat little bottoms :)

theTramp · 28/08/2012 21:14

That would be keep zoey - kittens & jeeps, bad combo, they're terrible drivers.

Funnylittleturkishdelight · 28/08/2012 21:19

hehe you've got me giggling again!

You're so right about blazers/cardigans- that is exactly what I need! My room was so cold during that cold snap in April I cried to the caretaker until they gave me a heater in my room!! But then it can get so hot when the heating is on, I feel the need to strip off and then freeze as soon as I go outside!! Is it any wonder the kids are ill all the time?!

Well done you on getting where you want to be! Nothing wrong at all with focusing on something lovely, now morning sickness has gone I feel much happier, but when it was bad I had to keep thinking about the fun stuff like nursery and clothes.

Speaking of nurseries...how cute is this??

sundaesundae · 28/08/2012 21:48

This stage is so hard, maternity clothes are way too big and normal clothes are too tight. Work clothing is getting tricky for me too, so sympathies abound!

I agree with the keep the kitten, it can be the Marchers mascot :o)

Petrified about scan in the morning, I am feeling really achey and scared and keep knicker checking. OH is getting excited and I keep asking him not too. I feel like such a party pooper, but I just can't get excited or anything else till after the scan.

I never thought I would be so terrified during a pregnancy with no pain (aside from stretchy ligamenty) or bleeding and lots of symptoms. I think it is because we all know so much and are so aware of MMC and blighted ovums and the like.

Straight to North Wales after, so if it is bad news I can bury self in work.

backwardpossom · 28/08/2012 21:53

Can I recommend these? Great for this stage (and beyond) - I had a pair last time around and they were perfect for work. I've ordered another pair for this one. You can fold the band bit down at this stage so that it's snug to your tummy and then as your bump gets bigger, you just have it right over your bump. Very comfortable - I also suspect they'll be good with a post c-section belly! :)

Funnylittleturkishdelight · 28/08/2012 22:03

sundae please try not to worry- I was in bits too and kept imagining the worst, but really it does no good at all and will only make you feel awful. All my FXd for you!

backward I need to find a skirt like that!! I hate trousers, but love the folding idea! So clever!

My neighbours upstairs are being so noisy I can't sleep...is it wrong I am looking forward to a newborn waking them up...

theTramp · 28/08/2012 22:08

Turkish - I can't seem to get your link to work my dear, and I would like to see the cuteness.

Sundae - I fully comprehend the worry. I have everything crossed that you'll have tears of happiness tomorrow and will be phoning everyone to tell them the fabulous news.

I took my own advice and had a long, luxurious bubble bath. I have been surfing Mumsnet and singing along to the most self indulgent sound track. MrM was out running and the two cats have been staring at me from the windowsil and bath mat respectively in a confused/upset fashion. Ha ha!

Toast have skirts like that turkish, as do Hush - they'll be long though.

lannyshrops · 28/08/2012 22:25

Welcome dontsay congratulations!

I'm off for my scan at 8.15 tomorrow morning, excited and a bit scared too, just need to know that there is actually a baby in there! I hope yours goes well too sundae. I will let you know how it goes.

Sweet dreams all xxx

ThreeForTea · 28/08/2012 22:39

Just a quick one so late! Had to have another sofa day today, but still holding out that anyday now my energetic glow will arrive!

I'm wanting to drink a lot of milk at the moment, definitely strange for me but can't be too bad can it? Have made a work arrangement tomorrow so really going to try to make it, don't want my brain to totally frazzle away before baby even gets here!

Em2010 · 28/08/2012 22:59

Just a quickie- wantef to say good luck for those having scans tomorrow!!

Night All!

mandasand · 28/08/2012 23:06

Welcome dontsay! I'm 37 too, but with a birthday soon.

Good luck tomorrow Lanny and Sundae! Let us know how you get on! Smile

And Shel you're turn soon - try not to worry too much as the stats are no doubt massively in your favour for a different outcome this time. Understandable worry, though, but keep the faith in your bouncing bean!

Oh and Sundae, I second Tramp's recommendation for chocolate soya stuff from Alpro - I love the 'yoghurts'!

Lexi what an exciting purchase! Go you! I think that is great - too good an opportunity to miss!

Chipbutty well done on the scan! I'm sure they would have talked you through if there was something to worry about with the cysts, so please try to put it out of your mind. Can you phone the MW for reassurance?

Harriet we were chattering aloud about closeness and different amniotic sacs last night. I read that in the womb babies play with their hands and the cord thing (can't remember what it's called - pregnancy brain strikes again!) so surely they play with each other in the same way if sharing a sac. We imagined they might bite a foot, or pinch an ear or something. But the most they can do in different sacs is nudge and shove!

Thanks for explaining LO, pipsicles! Seems obvious now, hehe!

Sorry you had such a rough day MrsRigby. I hope you had a good evening and that tomorrow will be brighter. Sounds like your colleagues need a bit of a talking to. I hate that kind of childish behaviour, I really do.

Sheldon, that made me laugh! I often want to stop and say I object to you, dear chugger, because of the following interconnected reasons?but then I remember they are only idealistic students trying to get a bit of experience on their CVs. It's more the charities themselves I get annoyed with. I used to donate a small monthly amount to the NSPPC but I think they spent precisely what I gave them on a constant stream of blackmail pouring through my letterbox asking me to donate more. When I cancelled my monthly payments I rang to tell them why and they explained that they would rather lose small fry like myself because their direct mail campaigns bring in more money. Sad that charities need to employ such aggressive techniques and mass marketing machines.

On another note, Sheldon, I am most relieved to hear you too will be using the box room - makes me feel less guilty Wink

tiddley hope DS shakes off the dodgy tummy completely by tomorrow. Poor love.

Em, I didn't chuckle at all about your mass hysteria morning! and if I did it was only from experience! I think my worst case scenario - apart from sleeping through things entirely or getting the wrong day (oops) - was waking up 20 mins before a cab was due to arrive, and of course they always arrive 10 mins early here?!

No real excitement to report. I overdosed on two cans of fizzy Vimto and felt funny for a few hours (!) but negotiated two extra weeks for my book (yes, yes, I pleaded 'dreadful first trimester symptoms' when really it's not been anywhere close to half as bad as most of my fellow marchers ... eek, sorry!) and moved forward on agreeing good terms for a paid piece of writing I've been commissioned to do (this rarely happens to academics - we normally just write for the hell of it!) So, in all, I suppose it was a good day, apart from the Vimto.

theTramp · 28/08/2012 23:11

Oh, check out babeswithbabies and also dorothyandtheodore.com some v pretty dresses and things on these sites. The former is considerably pricier than the latter.

G'night all. Good luck with scans tomorrow and for those who've had rotten days I really hope tomorrow is better, brighter and more fun.

DontSayWhatSayPardon · 28/08/2012 23:14

Thanks for the welcome! My scan isn't until mon 10th. Feels like a loooonnng time to wait but trying to just not think about it. Also trying not to shop until after scan - but taking lots of notes from all your recommendations! H&M were very good last time and one Isabella Oliver dress for a party. Unfortunately I was pregnant thru summer last time so whole new wardrobe required this time. Oh well!

Good luck to those of you having scans tomorrow. Everything crossed!

confuddledDOTcom · 29/08/2012 02:38

Wow lots of catching up to do! I?m just sitting up so that my hubby can have as much time in bed as possible (he has an early flight so is going to sleep until I go up then come down) as we lose him back to Jersey tomorrow for another 10 days. Mum came around earlier and asked how we?re planning to do school runs next week and offered to have the eldest for the week so they can do them and I don?t have to worry about rushing around first thing in the morning getting three kids dressed and out before 8am for the two hour walk (middlie is a slow walker!) so that?s a relief! When he gets back he?s going to drop them both, taking the eldest to morning club first, then he?s going to take a late lunch, pick the eldest up as she?s closest to his office and pick me and the little uns up somewhere on route home so that he doesn?t have to hang around anywhere. He had to pop into his own office today to sort out his expenses and his boss collared him. Normally he doesn?t take PL because it doesn?t pay very well but his boss is concerned that because of how my pregnancies go if he doesn?t he will use up all his AL and at some point need to take unpaid leave which is obviously going to be more expensive to us than PL. He said he?s never looked at it like that before so going to take it this time. His parents had the eldest two over the weekend so we took the baby to London to see his sons and we told them whilst we were there. This?ll be baby 8 for them (their mum has 2 and we have 3) so they were a little ?meh? about it but my husband was saying that they go dotty over our girls (he takes them on his own more than I go) far more than they do over their mum?s baby and they?re brilliant with little ones so it?s bit of an act.

Welcome Emus! Congratulations, you have a cool date!

pinkpeony4, I?ve had three girls (well four with our angel) so we?re pretty much expecting this one to be as well, the nub looks girl too. I?ve barely been able to eat since April, I?m at the point where I?m eating a main meal alternate days.

Mandasand, I don?t need to push the belly out, I can?t get over how big I look! I think it?s part of the bad belly though. You usually get the first Bounty Pack at your CMW appointment, then you pick up bag 2 from Boots, bag 3 is given after you deliver and has useful stuff for whilst you?re still down there, when you go to the postnatal ward you get bag 4 then a voucher for bag 5 comes in the post. Some hospitals have banned them though because it?s just a lot of advertising really. If you want one you can apply through the Bounty website and there?s also Emma?s Diary.

Vivee74 my two scans matched the date exactly but I don?t remember my LMP as I was still 6 weekly and not tracking. Are you going to have to show your notes to get your maternity pay? If not then fib, if you do then explain the situation to a friendly doctor/ sonographer/ MW and maybe they?ll fudge a little for you, it shouldn?t affect your treatment for a couple of days or they might print off a letter with the date you want on.

Em2010 ? I love the Bounty pack stealing! Grin About the bump, some women never ever show. The first the ILs knew about SIL having a baby was her father ringing her mother to say ?SIL is in labour? she?s the skinniest person you could imagine, she?s skeletal it?s quite scary (not anorexic) so where she managed to hide the baby is anyone?s guess!

ThreeForTea that small pot should last you pretty much for one baby, so they?re not that tiny really. The Boots changing bag is for the Boots parenting club which is part of your club card, don?t need the Bounty pack for those. I highly recommend signing up to the Boots club, I nearly always have over £100 of points, despite treating myself regularly! It?s at it?s lowest for a while at the moment. Not too much stuff from them, about 4 magazines a year telling you what your baby should be doing at this stage and invitations/ coupons for baby events where you get things like double points to use twice BOGOF on clothes etc.

GummiberryJuice, make sure it?s not just pelvic floor exercises you do! This is the article I first heard about how they?re not as good as we think.

Sunnymeadows, is there a reason to think you?ll be premature or just something a bit real with a friend having one? I?m expecting to deliver in January which will be 31-35 weeks, as long as I make next year I will be happy whatever gestation I make. Buy the nappies! You?ll go through so many that it?s never too early to stock up.

All the talk of maternity clothes reminds me of a project I?ve been thinking about for a few years ? maternity clothes library. Not sure how it?d work, I think that it?d cost a certain amount to borrow a pack of basics and at the end you?d get some money back when you return it but you wouldn?t have to necessarily return the same items, just the equivalent so that clothes were refreshed all the time. You could also have more than the basics to borrow individually.

Right, I?ve got to the end of Sunday and I need my sleep, so I?m going to catch up the rest tomorrow when I?ll probably be on the other machine.

Emus · 29/08/2012 05:44

Sundae I know exactly how you feel about your scan as I feel the same way! I feel really bad for my dp too as he's excited but I keep playing it down, almost preparing him for the worst. We've only told a handful of people between us and haven't told our families until after the scan (bar my mum) which is this Friday, as I couldn't bear it if something was wrong (we both have large families).

Good luck for your scan today, Its more likely to be good news than bad but I totally understand your worries.

Sorry not to name check but I know a few of you asked about our new house! Found out yesterday that we have to complete end of September (which also happens to be the day my dp finishes his old job!) so we've not got long to prepare at all! Am dreading packing up the house as we have so much junk stuff.

Safe to say there's lots going on at the moment! Roll on Friday so that I can put my mind at rest one way or the other re my mmc fears.

Good luck to all having scans over the next few days.

PS, should I be concerned that my boobs haven't grown an itch (which I'm secretly chuffed about as they are plenty big enough already) and don't really hurt anymore either?! I'm 12 weeks today.

Emus · 29/08/2012 05:52

I know right Confuddled!! 13.03.13 Grin

DoodleBugBee · 29/08/2012 07:39

10 +6 and scan next week - first pg and utterly bemused by the whole process of nausea, rattiness, enormous knockers and evening bloat... I'm going to sit in the corner of this group with some twiglets and sick bucket Smile

DoodleBugBee · 29/08/2012 08:21

I'm so confused - I'm hedging my bets in when to invest in mat clothes, when is best? My work trousers don't fit by the end of the day and all my tops are straining under the pressure of my burgeoning bosoms! Any advice truly welcome....Blush

Chefette · 29/08/2012 08:23

Welcome newbie Marchers, good luck for scan-ees, train travel, houses, DC logistics, mat clothes&ebay winning, sore norks/not sore norks, nork holders, eating/not eating, all symptoms/no symptoms, anyone at work, anyone on hols, and anything else I've not remembered! I got phone "de-posted" again last night so gave up in a fit of rage! Happy wednesday to all the mad marchers! Grin

pinkpeony4 · 29/08/2012 08:38

Tramp I ordered both Breton striped tops and they are awful. Too high necked and material that doesn't feel like it has much give so not much usage for later on. If you don't mind high necked then they might be alright. They looked nice on the model too which was why I ordered them. I am 5ft 8 btw and they were really long too. The vests were horrendous. High necked, wide strapped. Seriously frumpy! I am off to H&M today so will report back afterwards. I also feel horrid & fat. I lost weight after ds3 and went to the gym a lot so weighed less than I had for ages and was nice and toned and even fitted in size 10 jeans (first for me!). My hips have already gotten wider and my tummy is big but doesn't look like a bump yet and I hate my big boobs. Need to find nice clothes to feel better about myself I think.

Turkish Have you looked at Seraphine? They have lots of dresses which might be good for work.

Sundae Lots and lots of luck for this morning. I felt exactly like you and couldn't get at all excited until after the scan. Dh was all excited and positive and I felt so negative it was horrid.

Lanny lots of luck to you too. Can't wait to hear more scan news later. You have a lovely, early appointment time.

Don'tsay Welcome!

Chipbutty Well done on your scan and hopefully the cysts have gone by your next one.

Confuddled can you tell from the nub or did the sonographer give you an indication? I think a maternity library is a fab idea! Especially for high end priced clothes.

zoeymlucas · 29/08/2012 08:40

Morning

Got alot to catch up on after I went to bed early last night nothing new

Tramp that did make me laugh about kittems and jeeps and luckily I dont have a jeep so the kitten wont be trying to drive it! I doesnt have a collar turkish or a chip as DH felt all round her neck and there was nothing. We wont be keeping her as I love kittems but dont like cats, my friends walk on her kitchen surfaces and it really put me off as I have a bit of a thing about animal hair so an aminal that can jusmp up and get it everywhere freaks me out! Plus DS1 has awful asthma and lung problems due to being 3 monhs premature so it would be really bad on him.

Good luck on your scans today people and cant wait to hear your happy news of your bean now looking like an actual baby :) Mine is tomorrow at 8.30 and my stomach is doing knots already!

Confuddled I hope you get to the near 35 weeks of your target, I am aiming for 36 weeks this time I told my consultant and he actually laughed and said yeah good luck with that but I am determined to get there so might need to buy a large cork and vice to clamp my legs together, lol!!

Funnylittleturkishdelight · 29/08/2012 08:47

chef your post made me giggle! Best wishes to you too!!

DP has gone off for a wedding abroad and I did a blue o'clock airport run which meant I went straight back to bed and slept! Bed to myself for four nights...glorious!!

I have a -hilarious- awkward situation where my elderly but young at heart aunt not only hasn't yet been told I'm having a baby, my mother realised she never told her that I left my ex husband...now I'm 14 weeks (yipee) and everyone knows, we're debating the best way to break the news...over the phone? Face to face? All in one go or a new bit every night like an eastenders special or advent calendar??
