Just trying to catch up so sorry about no personals!!

Yay for all the good scan news from the past couple of days Grin

Sorry to those feeling rotten today... I had a horrid headache for 48 hours last week and it was almost as bad as when I was feeling so sick. I hope you have lovely restful days and that you feel better soon Thanks

I had an amazing repeat scan at the Fetal Medicine Centre yesterday. The sonographer was amazing and it was a million x better than the one I was given last week. She spent 40 minutes examining the baby and checked his (yes, confirmed it is indeed another boy!) heart, kidneys, stomach & spine. She then moved the screen into 4d and it was incredible, actually like looking at a photo! It was a teeny bit freaky because at this stage (I am 14 weeks) the head is very lumpy as are the eyes and ears, but I could see his arms and legs, back and bottom and tummy & face. It was fabulous Grin. She gave me lots of cool photos and a DVD of the whole scan!

When we came home we told our sons about the baby for the first time. DS1 is soooo excited!! He is 6 next week and it was so lovely to get such a lovely reaction, even if one of his first questions was how did the baby get in my tummy!! He said he wants to watch the birth - ha ha!! Ds2 said that he wanted a sister (bad luck there) and ds3 is far too young to know what is going on! So it was a lovely day, and it was my birthday so a fab way to spend the morning!

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend. It sounds as though there are lots of scans next week which is very exciting indeed. I will try and check more often so that I can do personals.

HarrietJonesPrimeMinister · 01/09/2012 13:55

Sounds lovely peony

I'm telling dd1/2 on Tuesday as I'm 12 weeks on Monday but they are put for tea. Dd3 knows as much as age can understand for now (22 months). This is where I want the scan picture!

Funnylittleturkishdelight · 01/09/2012 14:08

Pink that's made me go all soppy! How lovely!

theTramp · 01/09/2012 14:28

Pinkp - happy birthday & what a lovely scanner you had

Chefette · 01/09/2012 14:33

Morning campers Grin all go on the garden front here, OH is "whacker-plating" and digging holes. Not sure however what will actually going IN the holes as the plans of the outside "garden force" make over are still in his head.......... Confused

backward I too chunda-wundad this morning for the first time ever?! Weird. Also have nipples of utter doom. Ouch, very sensitive, and not in a "ooh sensitive this could be fun" type of way, much to Mr Chef's chagrin Blush

At this point no little baby will be clamping on these poor norkies-ever!!!!!!!

Happy weekend all x

Hi Ladies!

Sorry I haven't posted for ages. I had my scan on Wednesday. I have a health but stubborn bean swimming away. Was at the hospital for 4 and half hours and had 5 scans because baby was in an awkward position. It was such a tiring day but amazing. We saw the baby boxing away. haha. I don't have scan pics though. We had to be moved to a more specialist machine and my original machine was being used by someone elso so they said they would post the scan pics. I regret not waiting around but I was feeling so sick and exhausted. My dates were right and im 12+6 and still due 10th March. Anyone got there 20 weeks scan date yet? Mine is 24th Oct. Can't wait.

Great to hear everyone elses scans have gone well. Very envious of those who are enjoying food at the moment. Still have zero appetite.

Sunnymeadows · 01/09/2012 15:14

Woohoo to meeting beans, exciting times all round.

Emas zoey we have the same due date.

My Bmi is 0.2 over average rowing have to do a diabetes test at 28 weeks. Takes 3hours, that should be fun hey. You have to just sit around waiting for lucazade to kick in.

Im still buzzing, got my scan photos in a frame and just keep starring at them. Told everyone and put scan photo on facebook. Can't remember who was saying before but agree its lovely to see all the likes.

Im so happy i think i want to cry all the time Confused???

OodHousekeeping · 01/09/2012 15:46

kff mine is 31st oct

sunny I have to have one too, not had to before & my bmi is less than last time!

OodHousekeeping · 01/09/2012 16:18

(HJ btw, New Dr Who name)

Lexiindisguise · 01/09/2012 16:24

Chefette I feel your nork related pains - giving me the fear about breastfeeding already as mine are so sore!

backwardpossom · 01/09/2012 16:27

Your boobs will be fine soon, promise! And has nothing to do with breastfeeding! :)

Sheldonella · 01/09/2012 16:51

Ugh, starting painting the nursery but the smell of the paint has made me feel awful so had to stop. I think it will just have to get done a tiny bit at a time. Got a lovely pork gioulash slow cooking in the oven now, can't wait for that. Spicy foods seem to make me feel better.

I'm considering ordering this as I think it will do for the winter as I can layer up underneath it. I never do well with very thick coats so this looks ideal.

Ooh, more happy scans KF and pink. It really is amazing isn't it. I can't stop looking at mine.

theTramp · 01/09/2012 16:55

For £30 I would wonder quite how useful that parka was Shel. It looks nice - I'm just a cynical old bird when it comes to coats.

Have bought clothing storage boxes - have been through wardrobe, have yet to tackle draws. It is all looking very empty (sob).

My scan is friday and I wish it was friday already! Want to be able to tell people and not have to try to hide bump - which is now so flipping prominent it is quite depressing. I was sort of hoping my stomach muscles would keep things in for a while - apparently not, which suggests a lack of stomach muscles. Bah.

Sore boobs - I can soooooo relate to that one. Although the new, actually fit me bras have helped enormously.

Sheldonella · 01/09/2012 17:04

You are most likely right tramp. I'm just getting impatient on the stocking up I think :) I usually take months choosing a winter coat but I feel like I have to be quicker with this for some reason. The storage boxes is a great idea btw, where did you get them? I have packed away all my many high heels

Sore boobs - oh yes. I have a horrid granny bra on today which I providing some relief.

theTramp · 01/09/2012 17:28

Oh Gawd, the ugliness of the bras is depressing. I will just have to console myself with a promise to treat myself post breast feeding etc to some seriously nice undies. Until then - a parachute for each boob it is.

Shel - it may well be lovely, I'm just sceptical about coats. My experience is that until you try them on you have no idea how long they are, warm they are and well made they are. Price is absolutely no indication whatsoever. I don't really suit them, but I am keeping my eyes peeled for a cloak style coat in some form of sale, as I think that may be the way to go. Til then I have a jumper/cardi coat which will keep me going til at least November.. all my normal coats are already struggling to do up over my newly gigantic boobs. I have no idea why women get surgically enhanced for them, they are a total pain.

I got the boxes from a local shop. However i have others that I bought from these guys: www.totalwardrobecare.co.uk/xcart/Storage-Box-Black-and-White.html also sold at John Lewis I think. They are really very good. Moths are a bit of a problem in our house (little bar stewards - they really like silk, cashmere and tweed - or all my expensive lovely clothes as they are also known grr). Basically I want something I can pop under the bed and will keep clothes fresh, dust and moth free and these do the trick. But I think you can get vacume storage bags as well from places like Lakeland. You fill them up, then you use your hoover nozzle to remove the air and they shrink.

I have just read the Penguin Dictionar of First Names.. considernig how many names are in the book it is impressive how few appeal. However I now have a few more on the short list.

OodHousekeeping · 01/09/2012 17:35

I have a coat I've been wearing for over two years now since I borrowed it from dh when pg with dd3. It's an outdoor type one but goes over the head with zips at the side.

KFFOREVER · 01/09/2012 17:50

Ahhhh winter maternity clothes shopping. Summer is sooo much easier. You could get away with maxi dresses. Like you thetramp will get my coat as far into winter as possible. Dont want to get one then can't do it up at the front.

Me and DH are going on a babymoon to Paris for a few days. Am really regretting it though. Sad

Lexiindisguise · 01/09/2012 17:58

Tramp we have the first names book from Penguin! Lots of girls' names but very few boys' names that appeal. Doesn't help that DH & I have very differing opinion!

I got into sports wear this morning for Pilates and have stayed in it all day. Blissfully comfy! Off to Milton Keynes tomorrow for a couple of maternity bras and hopefully some jeans and bump belts. Going to try and wait for everything else until next month as we are off on holiday.

mandasand · 01/09/2012 18:02

Oooh Tramp I got some fab bras in Mothercare today. £30 for a two-pack and another £20 for a prettier one and all three make me feel like a woman again as they hoik my norks (snigger) up where they are supposed to be rather than let them sway around in a seriously un-great 't-shirt- bra' fashion! Seriously good investment. Also got some maternity tights and leggings - yippee! The staff were sooo helpful in there but spent a bloomin' fortune!

Had a good old prune in the garden, digging up some random spare spuds we chucked in after running out of space at the lottie (!) and cutting down our massive wall of sweat peas. Got some autumn pansies for continuity of colour. DH v. pleased with self as I've been wanting new bathroom taps since we moved in but he got a new shower head free from the council (saves water apparently, but it also gives quite a nice shower), today bought a new stretchy pipe thing which attaches it to the taps, plus a packet of Oust and a cheap toothbrush to get rid of the limescale. Looks good as new and total cost £30, rather than ridiculous £££ for new taps. Both of us v. happy, but for different reasons!

Also got our paint - yay. Normally I'm straight in there as I love painting but am delegating all walls to DH and all woodwork to decorator as I read somewhere that you should avoid paint whilst pregnant. But maybe I made that up Sheldonella?! What colour are you going for? I thought something quite soothing for nursery but DH thinks something quite bright, suggesting a sort of bluey-green. Not convinced yet, but perhaps he's right we should go for a bolder colour than pastel.

He's gone to hunt+gather us a pumpkin from lottie and I'm MNing trying to get back into my book. Lovely day here. Not at all sad about end of summer as keen to bunker down and hibernate over winter, watching belly get bigger. Feeling v. positive about everything today :-)

PS Harriet are you now Ood?!

mandasand · 01/09/2012 18:07

kk why regretting parisien (parisian?) babymoon?!

I'm speaking at a conference at the Sorbonne mid-October and we were going to make a bit of a holiday out of it but I'm seriously in two minds. Despite my A in GCSE French I honestly can't get by in anything more than a cafe, and I'm going to be the only English-speaker at a three-day French-language conference. It will be (a) hugely embarrassing and (b) massively boring as I won't be able to get into discussions! Don't quite know what to do about it tbh. On the other hand, nice to be in gay Paree for a bit...

OodHousekeeping · 01/09/2012 18:11

manda yes!

Lexiindisguise · 01/09/2012 18:22

Those of you with little bumps - did you find it came from nowhere?! Yesterday I had a friend say 'wow. you look very pregnant all of a sudden' and today in sportswear I can really see what she means. Seems to have happened almost overnight!

OodHousekeeping · 01/09/2012 18:39

No mine came very early but not quickly IYSWIM. My stomach muscles were screwed by dd2 and Physio after dd3 (10 years later) was a bit limited in repairing so doesn't take a lot!

Sheldonella · 01/09/2012 18:43

Grr, I ordered the coat but got too annoyed with the site and cancelled. No option to deliver anywhere but home address and they charge you £9.90 if the courier can't deliver. I did find 2 discount codes that gave loads off though so if anyone wants them let me know and I'll post. Also, despite the coat appearing to be in stock, it said won't ship until mid October.

manda We are painting it "stone" and are going to put animal stickers on the wall. I want to keep it neutral as I don't want to do the pink/blue thing (I particularly dislike pink). I wasn't in there painting for long and had loads of windows open. I read that modern paints are probably ok.

Sheldonella · 01/09/2012 18:43

Lexi Yes I have noticed my bump is suddenly quite obvious now. I can't hold my stomach in either. I quite like it :)
