Yay zoey, flamingo, jojo, kirsty and sundae. Oh it's so lovely to see all this good news Grin Thanks for all the lovely comments too Grin
I couldn't get a proper look at the nub unfortunately although the one glimpse I did get I thought maybe a girl. The sonographer was having none of it and just said it is too early. The baby wouldn't cooperate and kept bouncing, it was so funny. I have told a couple of people at work now and got lots of lovely comments. I'm thinking of telling family tonight too but need to discuss with DH first as hes still a bit nervous and might want to wait for the outcome of the blood test.
I think I'm going to order a few more maternity bits now. My mum confessed she is stocking up nappies for me and plans to buy a babygrow now :) I can't believe they have put me at 12+5, I'm pretty sure this is impossible was I was using ov sticks! Does the first trimester end at 12 or 14 weeks?
Sorry for being a bit me me me, I'm just so excitable and posting from work :)

pipsicles · 30/08/2012 15:16

Hello all! Thanks for listening yesterday! I've had a very stressful morning trying to rearrange scan and was told I could have one at 11:10 this morning at the sister hospital of our usual one which is just a bit further away. DS had to come with us and wasn't very good, which is unisual for him and we were late because of DH's poor organisation skills (grrr) but I think I have forgiven him now. As is normal, they were running late too, so all worked out well. So deep breath and put all that in the past...

Baby is absolutely perfect and was busy wriggling, rolling over, sucking thumb and even appeared to have the hiccups! I had a look at you picture Zoey and was pleased to see the 'bobbley' bit on his/her nose! The scan picture they gave me when I walked out made my baby look like mr nosey and I just burst into tears! DH told me to see if they could print another off and I felt like a right drama queen, but there was a different sonographer there who rushed me into her room and did another quick scan to get another picture for me, despite the fact that she thought my original picture was lovely! In fairness, it was because it was really clear, but she said he/she was sucking their thumb, which is what the 'big nose' was. Isn't she lovely though rescanning me?! Plus, this new picture has no chance of having the nub in - we didn't want to even have a hint! I'm kind of wishing we had them both now, but we have to pay £3 for each picture and only ever had one at each of DS's scans, so didn't want to be 'unfair' by having two of this lo - stupid aren't I?!

Congratulations to all the other happy scans today - it seems to be a good day! :)

Great sympathies to all disappointed by maternity clothes, but kind of glad to know I'm not the only one frustrated by the lack of 'real' clothes in the shops after my meltdown in Next the other week!

Sorry to not name check - I'm just going to try and put DS down for another sleep as he only had 1hr this morning before I had to wake him up to go to hospital, which is probably why he was difficult for us. Wish me luck...!

pipsicles · 30/08/2012 15:17

Oh and I've been put forward a few days too 13 weeks exactly and due 07/03/13.

mandasand · 30/08/2012 15:20

Just a quickie to say woohoo for all the brilliantly happy scans of today! Very, very cheering! Smile Thanks Smile

Hey Tiddley! DH has recorded (don't ask me how he does this; I don't think it's legal!) the twinnies programme and we'll have a listen tonight!

And, on the topic of marital harmony, this week we've changed the habit of a lifetime and stopped slugging out on the sofa till the end of Newsnight. Instead we've been switching telly off at 1030 and goign to bed. It's revolutionary! I get half an hour of reading in, DH gets half an hour of geeking at the laptop and we somehow get a whole extra hour's sleep! (Not that is having a noticeable effect on my energy levels but nevermind!)

No news here, just watching the bloody clock and being cross with myself for not getting hardly anything done today despite sitting here staring at the effing screen, lamely moving paragraphs around. What is wrong with me?! Grr...

zoeymlucas · 30/08/2012 15:23

Such great news that everyone had great scans and all our little babies are happy and healthy Grin

The first trimester ends at 12 weeks so 2 more days and you are offically in your second trimester :)

DH told me not to tell people still and then put the pictures and tagged me in them on facebook and wrote a status about how excited he was at becoming a daddy again - so now everyone at works knows as because I was tagged it showed on there news feeds, lol!! Ow well cant be mad when he is just excited.

Think I have a sugar headache from drinking sprite, eating cake and haribo sourtastic within the last hour - OOOPs
My baby wasnt playing either and was determined to do its own thing so we couldnt see nub, roll on sexing scan. Will be nice to know what everyone on here is having just for me being nosy purposes more than anything and partly as it feels you guys know more about my baby than my friends/ family!

Glad its not just me Sheld who is struggling to work this afternoon and would much rather be looking at my scan pic's :)

JoJoBella84 · 30/08/2012 15:32

Right, finally heading home from the hospital. Due to have surgery in the next four weeks (needs doing by 20 weeks) and likely to lose the ovary too which isn't fab BUT safer for baby than the risk of bursting. Consultant is calling me mon/tues to confirm plans.

JoJoBella84 · 30/08/2012 15:34

Ps congrats to all other scan buddies today! Is that a full house of bouncing beans??!

zoeymlucas · 30/08/2012 15:44

Jojo operations when pregnant are never ideal but sometimes if its better and safer for the baby its the only way to go so fx they get you booked in fast and get everything sorted and your little bean is totally unaware of any of it :)

mandasand · 30/08/2012 15:51

JoJo glad you've seen a specialist and I'm sure they will take very good care of you and your bean. Try not to worry. I know this is a bit of a crap thing to say, but I saw a woman on the Midwives programme recently (or it might have been the American version) who had a cyst plus ovary removed during pregnancy and all went really, really well. In her case they could have spent more time disentangling cyst from ovary, but their priority was doing what was best for baby, especially knowing the other ovary is fine, so they were in and out really quickly. Big to you.

theTramp · 30/08/2012 16:06

JoJo - it sounds scary but better removed than bursts & damages baby. Hope you're ok & the pics of baby are keeping you happy.

JoJoBella84 · 30/08/2012 16:13

Oddly I'm fine about the whole thing. I'm sure it will be different just before surgery but for now I understand how it's safer and they're going to do what they can to make it less risky so fair play to them.
I kind of expected it after reading up on cysts and surgery etc, so now I'm
Staying away from google and remaining stress free for as long as possible!!
So it turns out I'm 16 weeks today... Bloody baby keeps having growth spurts!!!
Nerd alert - Physio student in me got very excited about seeing baby's brain and the hemispheres were do clear. I'm sure the sonographer thought I was nuts!! I'm laying there saying things like ' oh look honey, there's the corpus collosum' the OH and sonographer were just saying 'oh look it's a baby!'

IWantAChipButty · 30/08/2012 16:19

Hi Jojo I found out the other day I have cysts too. Glad to hear you are being looked after though. How big is your cyst? Is it the keyhole surgery you will having? Its a scary thought having an operation while pregnant but hopefully it will mean you can enjoy the rest of your pregnancy after the op!

JoJoBella84 · 30/08/2012 16:27

chipbutty Mine is currently 11cm x 8cm x 6cm it grew quite suddenly in 6 days which is the main cause of concern as at this stage they should shrink.
They don't think keyhole is an option due to it being a multilocular cyst, so it basically has lots of smaller cysts inside it, keyhole would only drain one part at a time taking longer and basically being riskier than a quick slice and pull everything out!! Apparently the biggest risk is that if the uterus is handled too much it can start to contract. So straight in and out is the way to go. Also the safest time is between 16 and 20 weeks so as I'm measuring 16 today they need to get me in pretty sharpish!!

sarahs999 · 30/08/2012 16:31

I don't understand this thing about moving people forward with dates all the time. It happened to me too and I'm positive about my dates as I was charting, temping, obsessively watching ov signs etc. So I know exactly what i am but the sonographer was insistent that this was my new date (four days ahead; impossible as we hadn't even had sex at that point!). So what do you do if the baby keeps measuring ahead? You could end up either being induced for being late (when you're not really) or having a C section way too early. Silly.

Huge congrats to all you scannees. I am reaching the end of my third working day within which time I have been told I will get a call from the nuchal people if I am high risk. NO call, so fingers crossed I am ok.....

GummiberryJuice · 30/08/2012 16:54

Haven't caught up yet been an emotional day dd1 started BIG school

Confuddled thanks for link, haven't read it all yet but makes sense, need to read and put into action

Hope everyone is well and I will catch up after dinner

HermioneBoo · 30/08/2012 17:45

Oh so exciting to see so many happy scan posts! Not many days until 3rd September and my scan, I was getting worried as my symptoms had lessened quite a lot (not as tired or hungry, able to cook, able to eat things that made me nauseous before) but this afternoon was a very very nauseous one, I feel like I'm carsick!
Boo to rubbish eBay purchases, my mat jeans are too tight despite being my size and my swimming costume is too big - thankfully the weird brown splodges came out Hmm I have a pair of IO work trousers coming so I'm hoping they'll be ok

HermioneBoo · 30/08/2012 17:47

Ooo and does anyone have a bumpband? I've had a quick look and I'm not sure I'd trust my unbuttoned trousers to stay up even if there was a band over them!

HarrietJonesPrimeMinister · 30/08/2012 17:57

Mine don't stay up with a bump band but you can do the bobble thing and not worry about the gape.

theTramp · 30/08/2012 18:16

Sarah - it is an inexact science the whole due date thing and from what I hear they will only induce when you get to a point where health is an issue - rather than just because you are past due date.

My Mum tells me that they thought I was going to arrive early by at least 4 weeks, and I didn't - in December. And then they reassessed and decided actually I was just a big baby and should be due in February. I arrived mid January. OK these were the days before scans and measurements etc - but it gives you some idea of quite what a finger in the air it is.

My friends baby was due in June and he was born early May. The thinking was he would be premature.. but at birth it was quite clear that he wasn't in the least bit premature.

I think as long as baby is healthy, the whole due date and how many weeks gone you are is more of an estimate to help you plan. Although if they have you 4 weeks ahead of where you really are and you're at bursting point I am guessing that waiting for another 4 weeks would be an absolute pisser.

JoJo - I love that you were getting all science nerdy on them. How fantastic. I wouldn't have a clue what I was looking at. At the last scan I was just enchanted by how much Socrates was kicking about. I hadn't thought that there would be much movement, knees not quite being there as yet etc - but nope, dancing away with giant head relatively stationary.
As for cyst surgery, that sounds ok to me. I have some small cysts, they will be checking to see if they have grown, but they don't seem overly concerned. This is based entirely on fact that they don't seem to think I need to see a consultant until late September.

So MrM's brother and wife have booked us all a night away in a snazzy hotel an hour or so outside of Belfast. I have been told I should book myself a spa treatment, so I have booked the pre-natal indulgence massage. Over an hour of being massaged, having warm oils rubbed into my skin and having my head soothed. Sounds heavenly! I cannot wait. There will be a bit of walking in there too somewhere, but right now I am focused on that massage. So assuming all is well after friday's scan I can look forward to finally being able to tell everyone and a super treat. How lucky am I!
