Am v emotional today. Think I need a good cry before I do it somewhere inappropriate Blush

zoeymlucas · 30/08/2012 20:06

Hermione I have a bump band but also bought some trouser extenders from amazon for about £4 for 2 sets of 3- I got 3 button one and 3 metal clip/slide thingy ones! They extend your trousers and are elastic and have 2 settings so are fab and I then wear my bump band as extra support and incase my zip undoes and it works perfectly :)

After a night of no sleep last night my head is throbbing- even too poorly for the cakes DH bought me for when I got home from work - that's how u know things are bad, lol!

zoeymlucas · 30/08/2012 20:08

Sometimes a good cry harriet is much needed and helps relieve the pressure well it does for me but keep your chin you will be over this stage soon and people say it get better - I am clinging to that fact x

HarrietJonesPrimeMinister · 30/08/2012 20:14

I'm not sad just feel like I'll cry at anything, nothing is doing it though!

zoeymlucas · 30/08/2012 20:19

If it helps I cry at everything at mo for no reason, lol x

Funnylittleturkishdelight · 30/08/2012 20:22

Let it out HJ! I am a big believer in having a good cry!

Lots of good news from everyone which is lovely!

14+1 today and all sick feelings more or less gone! So happy- just waiting for that energetic burst as at the moment I am still knackered!

HarrietJonesPrimeMinister · 30/08/2012 20:24

I'm knackered too which isn't helping! Stated up watching the Paralympic opening last night.

sundaesundae · 30/08/2012 21:16

Has anyone got any opinions on NCT antenatal courses? This is our first, so we are planning to go, but it is £270! Is it worth the money, good for meeting people that sort of thing?

theTramp · 30/08/2012 21:29

Useful information on the accuracy of due dates ... www.babyzone.com/pregnancy/prenatal-care/uses-accuracy-of-ultrasound_79973

StealthToddler · 30/08/2012 21:33

My Nct group from ds1 was SOOO worth it. I think it was a similar cost but there were 6 couples, all due similar time, all living in west London. Only 1 woman didn't seem bothered about keeping in touch, the other 5 of us met regularly and then became 4 when one moved to new Zealand 2 years later. Lots of support, great friends, regular play dates at each others houses, coffees/walks out etc. brilliant having people who are first timers as well who you can compare notes with, ask stupid questions, cry with, laugh with, all going through the same stuff as you at the same time! 5 years on we still do girls Nct night out and we have 10 children between us.
Your hospital will likely do free courses but I think it is worth paying up as you are more likely to meet people similar to yourself.

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 30/08/2012 21:33

so jealous of all those who've been scanned, another 10 days to wait here.... Envy

Not sure on the only induce if there are issues thing tramp, i went a week overdue with DD and when I went at 40+7 for my stretch and sweep (lovely) I was also booked infor induction, seemingly as a matter of course, at 40+10 if the baby hadn't arrived! Obviously it will vary from area to area and even MW to MW but think once you are past that EDD they have a set of interventions that they will suggest you try even if you seem to be bumbling along quite nicely. Luckily the sweep seemed to kickstart things for me and DD was born at 40+8. To be honest though, obv only speaking for myself here, but i got to the point that i was so fed up and sick of feeling humongous that i was definitely up for induction! Of course though, you can refuse it, and ask for daily monitoing i think once you go overdue to check placenta function...

had a shite day at work today, but done now til Tuesday! Yip yip yipeeee!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 30/08/2012 21:38

Just to add, same as stealth we did NCT and still meet up regularly with core group who we met on the course. Very well worth it even though the actual childbirth info is a bit wooly...

Sunnymeadows · 30/08/2012 21:51

Lovely news Sunny.

theTramp · 30/08/2012 22:43

Tall ladies, I have just found these guys: www.tallmaternitystore.co.uk/ Trousers and tops for the taller lady and at good prices too. Only sells the basics, but that is no bad thing. And maternity tights for tall women.

I am going to try the white shirt and the jeans as a starter for ten - even if it is slightly early days.

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 30/08/2012 22:45

tramp can you find a similar link for short and dumpies like me?!! GrinGrinGrin

theTramp · 30/08/2012 23:05

Ethel - there was one, on a site called something & giraffe, I will find it for you in a sec.

I WANT this in black www.purecollection.com/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductCode=LW-680
Not a maternity dress, but it does look awfully snuggly.

confuddledDOTcom · 30/08/2012 23:32

Hello ladies. I've got rid of a child tonight so I can take my eldest out tomorrow, so the house is all quiet tonight.

I had a letter this morning inviting me on a trial for impatient mums (whatever makes them think I am a suitable candidate? Grin) where they're going to do a test to see if I'm likely to go into labour at 22-24 weeks (the test is, not labour - I hope!) then I get either drugs, placebo or nothing. I normally need my first one around then anyway!

I'm too tired to catch up, so I'll speak to you all later.

theTramp · 30/08/2012 23:37

So I found this www.underthescope.co.uk/2011/12/07/how-tall-will-your-daughter-be/ which apparently predicts your childs height.

So I thought I would use my parents heights to see if it works. It was miles out. Highest end would put me at 5ft9 and I am 6ft. I did the maths a couple of times and result was the same. So ya boo sucks to height calculators.

....I have been reading about inherited genetic traits. Height is more variable than eye colour it seems.. :)

confuddledDOTcom · 31/08/2012 00:16

Generally girls aren't bigger than their dads and boys are taller than their mums. I'm taller than my husband so the girls are going to be short - although that's expected anyway because of their gestation and IUGR for #2.

zoeymlucas · 31/08/2012 06:51
