Hope you feel better once you relax this evening sundae. I don't know how those of you who go out to work every day cope. It's bad enough just trying to stay awake whilst working from home! When I do have a day in London I'm absolutely and utterly knackered. Couldn't do it every day. Hats off to you!

sundaesundae · 21/08/2012 19:31

I am field based so normally have at least one or two days at home a week. Unfortunately my install has not gone well so instead of going home tomorrow and WFH thursday I am now staying up here till Thursday evening.

I just ordered a room service burger just for the cheese, bacon and brioche bun. I am weird.

mandasand · 21/08/2012 19:36

Ohhh, yes, I've read that about cycling JoJo but I can't bring myself not to cycle till I get too belly-heavy. Then I will waddle to the bus stop!

Oxford has its fair share of bike accidents for sure but it's also, I think, a really safe place to cycle because we're really out in force, the lanes are pretty good and the local traffic just knows to look out for us. Not sure how many more times (if at all) I'll get on my speedy, drop-handle-bar bike this year, and even on my round-town-with-a-basket bike I'm really careful to rise up over the seat over bumps and things, but day-to-day I feel perfectly safe ... but I will be careful, I promise! (Famous last words ...)

mandasand · 21/08/2012 19:38

boo sundae. hope you get friday working from home at least!

sundaesundae · 21/08/2012 19:39

I'm on Annual Leave and the MW is coming to see me. So will definitely be at home :)

JoJoBella84 · 21/08/2012 19:47

Grrr a late night study session in the library thanks to only having an Internet dongle in the flat until sept - there are gaggles of young students gossiping and laughing SO LOUDLY!
Grrrrrr, why is there no silent area down here? They close off the top two floors at a certain time so I can't escape it :(
Must not snap at arrogant students....

lannyshrops · 21/08/2012 20:10

Hi all, sorry I did not pop by yesterday, I had the most terrible day in work and ended up in a massive crying fest when I got home..it was not very attractive sight! Needless to say, I was exhausted after all that and was in bed by 7.30!

My twopence worth on all chat;

hair for the first time in my live, mine has slowed down, it is normally a loosing battle, so I am overjoyed!

names I am very, very annoyed! The names we have liked James Andrew for a boy and Lilian Ruth for a girl are on the top 10. GRRR! I think we may just stick with them as long as they suit bean as they are famiy names for both of us and mean a lot.

bras My cup size is the same, but my back has gone up (very strange as I have not put on any weight yet) I have been in lovely soft cotton ones for a few weeks and was well woth the money. I fond them in good old M&S but I do struggle due to size (currently 36G) on line fashion world is quite good for the larger among us and quite a bit cheper than Bravissimo. [[http://www.fashionworld.co.uk I really do begrudge spending about £40 on something which I know wont fit in a few months!

scans we are planning on a private scan, mainly as they wont sex here and Iwe really want to know! Decided against the NT as it wont change any outcome for us. It was probably the hardest decision so far to make. In some ways I wish that we hadn't of had to make it, if that akes sense??

It's lovely to read everyones thoughts and news! Especally as scans are comming in thick and fast!

HermioneBoo · 21/08/2012 20:11

Thanks for all your messages lovely ladies, cramping has settled down now I've been in bed all evening.
Settling down for Great British Bake Off, I love this program so much! I even competed in my local bake off but the other competitors were so serious it took all the fun out of it.
Your in law tales make my MiL sound positively lovely! My MiL is very dramatic, she likes to talk about herself a lot and does not find it easy to empathise so I do wonder what planet she's on sometimes. She's always there when I need her though, and they accepted me in to their family as I found it really hard to move away from mine. DH's family are all very loud and opinionated but we've been together 11 years now so I'm used to them, my family are very quiet and restrained so it was a bit of a shock when I first met them!
JoJo feel for you in the library, I work for a uni and the library is full of student's children at the moment!

lannyshrops · 21/08/2012 20:43

hermonie sorry, I had to post before I got to your posts..I am so pleased things seem to have settled down, what a horrible day you must of had. I too struggle with not doing things in work which I normlly do, especially as I am the boss and feel like I have to set an example to follow. I will learn a lesson from you though and try to slow down. It's so hard though isn't it?

in laws dear lord! I must be very green as I never believed that people could be so nasty! And to family too!! Awful. I do see fighting families in my work (nursing) but normally it's just squabbling over death beds and normally related to money.(sad but true) Sheer nasty pastyness is austonding!

Sorry for anything/anyone I have left out, it has taken me 2 hours to catch up!

Sheldonella · 21/08/2012 20:43

Hermione Glad to see you are getting some rest. Hope the GP can reassure you tomorrow.

lanny The bras sound good. Are they non underwired? What is the support like?

I have just cracked and ordered some jeans from New Look. They are 34" long so should be ok. I'm 5'8" so not as tall as some of you but I seem to have very long legs and even longer lengths in shops are usually too short. New Look also do 36" in some styles. The quality might not be as good as some more expensive ones but they don't need to last all that long.

I have decided that this is the stock of maternity clothes I want to get:
1 pair of jeans (ordered)
1 denim skirt
4 pairs of tights
4 pairs of leggings (got 2 so far)
3 bras
5 tops
3 dresses (got 1 so far)
Coat

I have other dresses and tops that will probably fit for a good while already. Does this seem enough?

Sheldonella · 21/08/2012 20:47

I don't know my own height. I'm actually 5'9" Blush

JoJoBella84 · 21/08/2012 20:57

hermione. no children in here tonight, I don't mind kids coming in actually as long as the parents actually watch what they're doing - I hate being the woman who has to approach someone and tell them that their child is sucking on a computer table or swinging dangerously on a chair!! Actually the only time anything bothers me is when I'm under pressure :(
I've applied for mits for my exam on the basis that my gran has just passed away, I'm still suffering from morning sickness ( exam in morning ) and normally in order to get through in one piece I take beta blockers for my stress levels which I can't do now I'm pregnant!! So in the off chance I make a complete pigs ear of the situation... I should be able to resit... Urgh!!! Breathe... Breathe...

tiddleypompom · 21/08/2012 20:59

hermione stay positive & wishing for reassurance tomorrow for you. I struggled this eve picking up the baby bath (full of water) & your scare has reminded me that I must stop doing that. DS in big bath from tomorrow... Take it easy if you can x

Tall & skinny folks (tramp & others), Isabella Oliver 'Bardot' jeans are v long. They are 33' leg but plus turn ups so very long - the maternity leggings are so long they cover my feet too :)

Shattered. Off to bed. Hope Bake Off was good, am a fan but don't like watching telly on my own (weirdo) and DH away tonight.

Sweet dreams oh hairy ones (and smooth ones too)!

Lexiindisguise · 21/08/2012 21:13

Hermione hope all goes well at the doctor. And thanks to all the fellow tall ladies for clothes recommendations! Very sleepy here, in bed with a face mask in a desperate effort to battle the spots Sad

lannyshrops · 21/08/2012 21:16

sheldon bras are non wired (my boobs have been so sore since week 5 so I've been in them since then) support really good, only a fraction lower than they would be in my wired ones. I hate my boobs down by my knees, and although they no bigger my Lord they are heavier! I have a bit of a thing for a well fitting bra ever sinc being bravissimoed five years ago!

I'm lucky with clothes, I wear a uniform for work so some lovely yoga maternity pants (matalan, a tenna) soooo comfy for around the house and wash really Well too and a few pairs of jeans and tops will probably do me...all the more money for bras!!

ThreeForTea · 21/08/2012 21:19

I think I like it that the hairyness on this thread is generally on the outside rather than on the inside, really hope that this stays the case for everyone from here on out!

Really hope everything stays settled down hermione, send someone out for some cake on top of the rest while you watch!

I feel quite tired.. after another day of having to rest because i'm too tired. Have started to get the feeling that life is passing me by slightly, I have had absolutly no let up in my symptoms, so looking at another few days sitting about watching the world go by (and increasingly naffer TV).

I spoke to my mentor at work today because I am missing another appointment with her tomorrow (we have mentors brought in from an outside organisation to do personal development work with us for a six month programme.) She has offered to come and meet with me at my house while I can't go in which is really nice of her, especilally as I live quite out the way. I am so gutted in general to be missing so much. I'm sort of in between projects so it could be worse, but was also meant to be starting a new project in a job share with someone this summer. I have no idea what the the implications are going to be, and at the moment not that much energy to be able to worry about it. I guess thats life!

sundaesundae · 21/08/2012 21:31

I did have a slightly embarassing moment earlier, I was extended my stay in this delightful Holiday Inn and the bloke was taking so long I laid my head on the counter and nearly went to sleep! he gave me a very odd look, I nearly said "Well I am pregnant you know!"

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 21/08/2012 21:52

Oh my god, it has taken me nearly an hour to catch up on all the posts!!!!
Jojo sorry to hear your sad news
lanny my DH is James Andrew!

We are going through potty training at the mo. It's a very long and sloooow process in this house. DH wee'd on the carpet in the room yesterday and it stinks, literally of piss. Niiiiiice... Am going to have to go to buy a scrubbing brush tomorrow.

Very much in awe of those of you dealing with the horrendous IL problems. My ILs are a bit annoying, but no where near that scale of freakish behaviour!!!! They are coming to visit this weekend so better get practicing that good old biting of the tongue!

Off to watch the midwives on catch up. Night all.

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 21/08/2012 21:54

Yes, clearly DH did not wee on the carpet... dd on the other hand most definitely did!

ATourchOfInsanity · 21/08/2012 22:09

So much to catch up on I have forgotten who said what!
Whoever was looking for a comfy bra I got 2 from Fenwicks that were boxed and have Bravado! On the label. Most comfortable ones I had throughout and wish I had bought them sooner as they are stretchy which means not such rigid sizing but very supportive, as well as having pads in for leaky boobs and extra shape Smile.
Confuddled not surprised you don't want to be on the same ward. I remember last time and the horrible staff. Do you have just the one hospital close enough to give birth in? I am going to the other hospital close to me this time and get a look around and chat to the anesthetist this time. Hope you get more help and support afterwards this time.
Re home births; I had a pool all set up last time and it was amazing! Heated, with bubbles and had a filter as I was worried about doing it last minute (was alone and was first time pg). Can't recommend them highly enough and only wish I had dilated enough to use the damn thing before the lazy midwives sent me to the hospital 40mins away for irregular heartbeat, that turned out to be a "mis-reading" as she was perfectly fine on arrival at the hospital. However DD was 10Ib 1oz so now quite glad I didn't try to squeeze her out on gas and air alone!
Anyone taking iron yet, other than in pg tablets? I was badly anemic last time but not sure whether to start extras or wait until bloods are mentioned?

theTramp · 21/08/2012 22:26

I half expected to need iron but pregnacare and green veg and pulses rich diet seems to be doing trick. Bloods were v positive for iron. Not stopped me being exhausted though.

Herm - I hope all goes well tomorrow. I was bleeding for 4 weeks and scan Monday showed all was well so be kind to yourself.

Loving the clothes lists. I live in a line dresses, short skirts, skinny jeans & jumpers so if I can replicate that in full bump
mode, less the short skirts, I'll be a happy woman. I've no issue with wearing a mans coat - broad shoulders so it'd probably fit just fine, I suppose it depends on how bumpy I get.

Thanks for Isabelle Oliver jeans tip. I'm going to go & try some on for length I think. I'm straining but nowhere near busting out of clothes at this point so no rush.

I've booked private scan for 12 weeks. £120 well spent I hope.

Em2010 · 21/08/2012 22:52

Oh my! Today really is so chatty!!! I fell asleep for two hours after I put ds to bed so i will probably not sleep tonight! hermione glad things have settled down for you, now, as others have said - take it easy mrs!!

I am 5'2" so looking up at all you tall ladies with envy!! lanny I'd never thought of trying matalan for maternity wear- those yoga pants sound very comfy and a darn bit cheaper than vertbaudet!

Still wearing my usual b cup, underwired, push up bra here. Probably could do with wearing something bigger but I have a to-do list as long as my arm at the moment and getting an hour to go into town on my own isn't looking likely in the immediate future.

ethelred was laughing at your dh weeing on the carpet!!

Just watched midwives and sobbing so much dh declared he couldn't take it anymore and disappeared upstairs. If anyone saw it, the lady, Kelly, with the kidney problems? Her story was remarkable....

jojo hope you managed to get some revision done, I completely empathise with being frustrated by the noise. Can't stand if when people are being noisy and I'm either trying to work of sleep! Grrr!

manda I had a friend who cycled all the way through her first pregnancy, even back from her sweep! Then again, she wasn't having twins!!

Who said they liked James as a name? Go for it!! If you love it. I hardly ever meet another little James and when I do I just think that his mum has really good taste!! It's such a classic and can be altered to suit the personality.

Righto off to sort out some of the enormous piles of laundry we have lying around the house. Probably should be done about midnight!

backwardpossom · 21/08/2012 22:57

wail back to work tomorrow... been off since the end of June... roll on February...

OP posts:
confuddledDOTcom · 21/08/2012 23:45

Insanity, it is the closest but more importantly it's the high risk hospital, they're connected to a university hospital where one of the best experts on my condition works and she runs the non-obs side of the clinic I'm under. Not to mention that having impatient babies they're the only place locally I would trust to look after them.

I picked up a Hanjie book recently and everytime I sit down to it I start thinking "should I be doing this? Am I a bad person?" how stupidly ridiculous that I should be scared to do a puzzle!!!

On the topic of hair, my head hair is almost bum length so I notice quite quickly when it stops falling out, when breastfeeding slows down my bathroom looks like I'm going bald when I wash my hair! That's it for hair for me really, apart from my chin! I have a crazy amount of hair in two little tufts on each side and I have to do it weekly!

pipsicles · 22/08/2012 09:40

Morning all! You've obviously exhausted yourselves with chat yesterday that you're all to tired to post this morning - I can't believe I'm the first one to post! (sorry if x posting with anyone!)

I left you for 24hrs and then spent nearly that just catching up! :)

Sheldon I also had a Bravissimo bra that I bought from jojo, but is available online too (might get with boots points this time!) I think it is the silk one or something. It does cost about £30, but they have lasted me so well and I love them - I wished I'd found them earlier last pg. stupidly, I thought I'd try and cut back this time and only get those for bfing, so tried cheaper Emma Jane ones, which are not as supportive and a bit of a let down (literally! Hahaha! Sorry, you shouldn't laugh at your own jokes! Blush)

I'm quite tall (5'9), and always struggle to find the right length trousers, but I'm not tall enough for long tall Sally. I found next longer length jeans a good length, but the fit is irritating at times. Also, they have the stupid jersey pocket thing too, which is amazingly annoying, (and quite obvious in photos if you're still wearing long after bubs is born! Blush) I've now found funmum over bump jeans which are long enough and fit me really nicely, and the bump band can fold down, so they are getting lots of wear already!

I'm loving all the talk on names! I quite like Inigo. I had a girl in my form called Tallullah, and she and all her (7!) brothers and sisters have really unusual names, including zayla-Rae, Inigo, and gulliver! I'm finding names even trickier this time around. I thik we will be opting for a surprise again, so will need first and middle names of each. I have quite an unusual name although there was one other girl in my year with it and I HATED sharing it with her! Ive always loved having a name that you don't see often, but would also get frustrated if I couldn't find a bookmark or door sign from those stands! It's a fine balance! Having said that, my name is increasing in popularity thanks to Pippa Middleton.
DH and I are both teachers, so have a hard time selecting names that don't already have 'naughty' connotations! Boys names, particularly! We named DS Edward James, which we both absolutely love, although I hadn't accounted for Twilight and the impact that may have on his name in the future! I think it would be cruel to choose Jacob or Isabella, but Isabella is on DH's short list! DH keeps going on about James as a first name, but you can't give your second son your first son's middle name can you?! It's just lazy! I said we may as well just
Swap their names completely and have James Edward! He pretends (I hope!) that that's a good idea! For girls, I really like Allana at the moment, but DH taught a bad one (as have I in fairness), so vetoed immediately, but I might try and work on him. Last time, Felicity was our girls name of choice, but I think DH now has reservations. I like to look at the meanings of names to help - Edward means prosperous and protector, and James means steadfast. I loved the idea of my first born being like the little protector of how ever many brothers or sisters he gets to have! I agree with manda, it feels like such a responsibility to choose the right name!

Sorry to hear about nightmare in laws - like others have said, it really puts my issues into perspective!

Yay to early ivf pregnancy for SIL! Grin

Right, I should go and see to said DS - I think the tv has been on for at least an hour in order for me to read and catch up - can I join the bad parents Club?! Wink

Good day all! :)
