We're on safari with the labour spotting signs... How long till the next baby arrives?

Pull up a birthing ball, sup some raspberry leaf tea and tuck into the 'big boy pineapple balti'. We're on the home straight!

Lovemarmite · 12/08/2012 14:31

Thanks ishop
Have called the hospital and they want to see me. Gulp, kind of thought I would be contracting etc before needing to go, probably nothing but getting checked out Confused

Might take the nappies out from the washing machine first... ooo must not delay I guess. Yikes, I'm nervous now.

susiegrapevine · 12/08/2012 14:44

Yeah marmite defo sounds like waters going!

My grandad is ok not actually been admitted was aparently having jokes with the ambulance men! Just waiting for loads of test and the ecg to come back, he is still at a and e with mum and sis at the month but docs are not overley worried. Phew!

Whiteangel · 12/08/2012 15:09

Come keep me company hamster, not sure what I'm going to do without the Olympics to entertain me. In a much better mood today. Might have something to do with how DH and I started the day. Think I had a more convincing show afterwards, was kind of like light brown snot. Does that sound right? Still plenty of BH but nothing more convincing. Going to spend some time on my ball this afternoon but not sure if it is making any difference as he is already so low!
Yey to great British bake off. Already set it to record just in case. Anyone know when master chef starts? Think it is this week or next.
Good luck picture and marmite x

Weekipper · 12/08/2012 17:15

Thanks Vino Congratulations on William!

Marmite & White Fingers crossed for you and maybe you'll have your wee ones soon! Envy

MrGere as others have said you're not failing anyone by being overdue. (I've felt a bit the same and felt sorry for myself today and stayed in. Now I'm wondering that lying in bed for hours and then sitting on the sofa is only encouraging baby to stay in. And I'm obsessing about movements whereas normally I only notice the big ones cos I'm out and about.) Think I'll get off my ass and get some RLT Brew

tashaw28 · 12/08/2012 17:34

white it starts on Monday!! Set to record just in case, and great British bake off, love it!!
good luck to picture love and anyone I've missed!!
Am v jealous as now I really really want my baby today! Had the wedding yesterday that was an hour away from home so that mile stone is out the way, and just had a phone call from mil and fil who have gone to new forest for 3 days till tues night to say they have no mobile phone service there! Then they said oh well we can't come back early anyway as we gave a lift to 2 friends so you'll just have to keep it in until we're home. So now I really really wanna give birth b4 they get back, soooo selfish, soooo them!!
Grrr
39 today!

woopsidaisy · 12/08/2012 17:40

Ah, MrGere don't feel bad about being overdue. This is DC3 for me, and I have had to be induced with all of them! Mine never want to come out. This one has until Friday...am 40 + 4 today.
No point in getting stressed about it, and don't forget that term is 38-42 week.

Obvs I would love to go naturally, but there is nowt I can do about it. The pros of being induced are that there is no midnight dash, all nice and organised. And it only ever took me a pessary or two to start off, and the rest was all natural, no monitoring or anything. Straightforward deliveries.

Good luck to all you ladies who sound like things are happening...can"t wait to hear the news.
Congrats Vino-love William! Thanks

Lovemarmite · 12/08/2012 17:50

Thanks everyone x
I'm back home after an examination. Seems all is fine up there and waters not yet broken - grrr! If I call wolf too many times, you'll get bored of me!
Got to see the delivery suite and see that we really need to take in some things to relax as it's all florescent lights, a bed and a toilet area, no windows etc.

I have to share something with you though, how did I manage to get pregnant? I had a real shaky episode whilst the mw used a speculum and she could only go halfway, omg I'm truly a wuss at this.

Got to hear LO's heartbeat and mw was very happy with her movements and so all not a wasted trip. Oh and as for my little gushes in the evening, I explained them today and mw said it's common that when the baby moves her head or hand in the cervix that is triggers a little wee! Blush oh my, how glam!

susie your grandad sounds a real fun character!
Good luck picture

Come on little ones, we need babies now the Olympics are almost done x

The3Bears · 12/08/2012 19:27

Glad everything is okay marmite shame it wasnt waters though, but you'll be back there soon enough to have LO :)

I had a similar thing on Friday night and was debating going hospital, I could feel lots of pressure down there and I felt abit wet (tmi), I put a pad on to keep an eye on it but I couldnt even sit down so I assumed baby must have been really low and that was what was making me feel like I was weeing Blush I had to lean over birthing ball for an hour but it all felt okay a couple of hours after, dp was getting excited and thought my waters were going to pop Grin and a mad dash to hospital but these babies like to keep us waiting.
Had nothing like that since so didnt ring MW or anything but the good news is baby must be lower and I do feel like my bump has dropped abit so just waiting now.

Going to go for a little walk to mums with ds now and walk her dog and then get home and watch the closing ceremony, really need to keep more busy now to stop myself going crazy!

geekette · 12/08/2012 22:04

Oh mrgere , I know what you mean. I remember feeling that way when I was first told my baby was transverse. Had I not walked enough? Kept active enough? Not eaten the right food? I did think it was my fault and I was a failure.

It really isn't true. You've done really well! And that babe will be in your arms, kicking up a fuss very soon ;)

geekette · 12/08/2012 22:06

Congrats and well done vino! What a sweet name and the birth story is inspiring. Hope to join you on the other side soon.

woopsidaisy · 12/08/2012 22:31

Oh my lord. i think the baby has turned sideways from head down!

Has been doing crazy moves all evening, then suddenly on the sofa just did some very painful moves, then bump all out to the side. And pain in my back, sort of sciatic...which is new for this pregnancy.

Someone tell me it will scoot back down where it belongs?!

Good luck picture and love!

pintofmilk · 12/08/2012 22:43

Vino congratulations to you on the birth of William. Big bunch of Thanks for you. Must have been bit of a shock going in for a sweep then ending up with a baby!

Marmite glad you are home safely and all is well with bump. At least MW got to check all ok even though you have to wait a bit longer.

pintofmilk · 12/08/2012 22:47

Woopsi don't panic, could just be having a big stretch! Mine has been doing crazy dance moves tonight too, maybe they are just limbering up for the 'main event'.....I hope.

Good luck Picture.

capecath · 13/08/2012 07:55

Thinking of you picture! And Congrats Vino - end of baby drought for August babies!!!

I've been feeling niggly all night but stopped reading into anything now, hmph.

Due date tomorrow! Also due to be induced (due to DS being early) tomorrow morning. The consultant thought I'd only need to have my waters broken, so that being the case, I am kind of hoping I'll not need much monitoring and can still have the pool, nice smellies, music, etc. Anyone had a nice, laid-back induction before or am I being too hopeful?? Yours sounds promising woopsi. DS was certainly not and was monitored closely all the time with me on drip, so perhaps that is making me even more determined...

Mrsgeres can relate to those guilty feelings. I have been sooo hoping that I'd go into labour naturally without intervention and have been convinced LO would get here early the whole time! But there are lots and lots of advantages to having a healthy full-termer - it'll be worth the wait for all of us :)

mw appt later, making day more interesting, and going to hand in DS's nursery application - little boy growing up!

woopsidaisy · 13/08/2012 08:02

Keep your fingers crossed,Ladies. I am going to the DOU this morning, to see what way the baby is lying.
Please let it be head down!

Will lurk here to see if any news from Picture or anyone else....

WelshLadyCDF · 13/08/2012 09:05

Good luck for today cape, am going in for a sweep today so am crossing fingers that moves things on,
In fact good luck to us all for a productive week,
Xxx

Whiteangel · 13/08/2012 09:43

Good luck to all of the ladies with appointments and inductions today. 41+4 now and still nothing. Need to hear some positive induction stories especially from big busy hospitals. I've had my lovely private ensuite room at the MLU with loads of staff to help in my head for so long that I'm finding it really hard to accept that I'm going to have to go to a different hospital that I chose not to go to for lots of reasons. Heard so many negative stories of inductions dragging on for days on busy wards with not enough midwives to go round and husbands having to sleep in the car in the snow. At least it won't snow this week!
Positive for today - going to B&Q for a toilet roll holder! Will they give me free stuff if I go into labour? Need a blind and some curtains!

Nightfall1983 · 13/08/2012 11:27

Ah, I appear to have started, ahem 'evacuating'. I do find it quite reassuring that for the most part my symptoms appear a couple of weeks after the rest of you have had them so I know they are fairly normal if disgusting

Good luck to everyone with sweeps, inductions and the like this week - 38 + 2 here and in no rush...

susiegrapevine · 13/08/2012 11:46

Feeling ver down and bored today dunno what to do.

My grandad was admitted after all but he has a partially collapsed lung which they think should right itself was having more tests last night so am waiting to hear from mum.

Very frustrated and feel like baby is never coming dunno what to do with myself.

eightieshopaholic · 13/08/2012 11:56

Well i'm now in the overdue club!!! very bored have consultant apt wed for check up my mw now on holiday for 2 weeks. Going to ask for sweep Wed lets hope they will!!

First day of maternity leave and eaten chocolate and crisps and not 12 Help!!

40+1

Lovemarmite · 13/08/2012 11:59

Good luck everyone with sweeps today!
Hope your induction goes well capecath

Hope you're doing well picture

Whiteangel I know how you feel about wanting positive induction stories.

I went to see the mw this morning and had a complete meltdown and basically now have a consultant appointment on Thursday to talk about a cs option if nothing happens naturally. Also realise that after last weeks' stress, all my signs seemed to have passed and my body is not allowing me to relax. I'm trying to keep busy and positive and hoping I'll start to labour naturally.
Mw looked at my stretch marks too and said 'oh you poor thing, you're really stretched' and my tummy stings more than ever. I don't want to moan and so rubbing the oil twice a day on them but sitting and standing feels like it stretches the belly even more.

Not helping that my mum is emailing every day to see if there's any news and I know she means well but she's been the source of all the stress. So I might ignore emails for a while!

Hoping for some lovely news from everyone soon x
40+2

Lovemarmite · 13/08/2012 12:02

Oh we're all in the same being down club eighties and susie.
Hope we all feel better soon.

My positive today: getting the washing done, ok that's not that great... maybe going outside and taking some bind weed out? maybe more positive as it's bugging me for a while now Wink and putting a few things ebay..

McBaby · 13/08/2012 12:06

Baby born this morning weighing in at 9lb. Got to hospital at 11pm baby born four hours later. So the days of stop start labour were worth it! :)

Hopfully this inspires the other overdue babies to make an appearance.

eightieshopaholic · 13/08/2012 12:09

My positive today sorted out babies wardrobe clothes now in order and hung up lovely presents from work and friends.

Wanted to get nails done today but can not find anywhere open everywhere seems to be closed today :-(.

eightieshopaholic · 13/08/2012 12:12
