Just googled Oscar scan as I've not heard of it before & it's usually known as NT. Oscar seems to be a Bristol variation!
They don't offer it at all here,

HaitchJay · 06/08/2012 19:07

Sheldonella- maybe you are down for combined care. V common here, not known anyone not to have a consultant!

tiddleypompom · 06/08/2012 19:11

Blardy ell how many pages?!

tedmundo that is fabulous news! Need to know bpm please for gender prediction. Really am chuffed to bits for you - and will be similarly for our possom tomorrow. What a week :)

Who will be joining manda on the hunt for a double buggy that allows you through the doors of the local coffee house? Any guesses?

'poppage' - love it :o

'oh dear' says DH to news of dc3 - equally loved it :o

jojo I hope positive mw input continues & repairs lost faith in The System. Makes all the difference doesn't it?

Welcome to longestmnnamesonethingaboutamum! Congratulations & do stick around on our thread, there is no way the EDD list will come to fruition & you'll probably not be last. As long as you don't leapfrog me - that is not allowed.

V tempted to uncover gender this time around but DH against it & I will go with his preference. Probably.

Right. Ofski to the kitchen to cobble together a quorn chilli. DS sleeping on me at present after his bath & milk. God, will have to teach self settling before no2 arrives...

Who is having Dc number 231?? How is the pelvic door floor now?!

Em2010 · 06/08/2012 19:53

Ah tiddly that post just made me laugh!

tedmundo · 06/08/2012 19:59

Yes jojo it is a scan and bloods. haitch it would not surprise me if Brizzle has named it something different. We are the place that came up with 'daps'!

HaitchJay · 06/08/2012 20:39

Dh says Daps , he is from Bath but does accumulate unusual words.

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 06/08/2012 20:44

Ah right, they just call it nuchal translucency screening here! Grin

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 06/08/2012 20:45

We had to pay to have it done when I was pg with DD, but mw at booking told me that all PCTs (or whatever they are called now) have to offer it as a standard test.

backwardpossom · 06/08/2012 20:49

I'll be having the NT tests yes. Never heard of Oscar before?!

JoJoBella84 · 06/08/2012 21:09

I'll be having the NT test too :) Friday cannot come soon enough for me :) I found koppaberg 0% down the alcohol aisle in Tesco's for whoever was asking earlier!!
Not tried it yet though x

Sunnymeadows · 06/08/2012 21:20

In asda the alcohol free wine is with the posh soft drinks like appletiser and schloer. X

HaitchJay · 06/08/2012 21:33

Just been googling after Ethelred comment and my NHS authority does do the NT test now ( new since I had dd3).

I don't particularly want it as I don't do any of the other disability screening tests. Wonder if it's an opt out one?

GummiberryJuice · 06/08/2012 21:37

Evening ladies, I must say your posts have made me giggle esp dc231 Grin

I didn't feel as bad today but a bit headachey tonight,
Who is my scan buddy, Ethel? 4th Sept?
Or was it chefette?

Welcome newbies
Think we all have our scan dates now Yey!

JoJoBella84 · 06/08/2012 21:46

Haitch it is opt out. It's done at the same time as dating scan if you want it. You can't have it later than 13+6 though.

Chefette · 06/08/2012 21:48

Gummi t'is I, your scan buddy on the 4th; although obviously after 230 12 wk scans already under my (large and extensive?!? belt) it'll be a total cinch...........Grin

Am I ever going to live that typo down girls?! x

HaitchJay · 06/08/2012 21:50

I don't know if I'll have a scan in the right windo anyway. I'm having one next week (fingers crossed ) and they might not bother again but I'll only be 8-9 weeks. Makes life a bit easier if I don't have to explain, hospital already think I'm strange for not having a MW !
Though I want a 12 week scan so I know when to tell people!

pipsicles · 06/08/2012 21:52

I managed to locate and sample some pear kopperburg this evening and like it very muchly! I couldn't help but feel like I was just drinking VERY expensive appletise, but never mind - certainly puts people off questions unless they are examining very closely! Thanks for the tip Sunny about where to find the 'wine' - I'll have to give that a test too! The red from Waitrose sounds promising...

I will be having the NT/Oscar scan and did with DS. DH and I decided last time that we'd rather know and be prepared for any abnormalities than have a surprise or find out too late that specialist care is needed. Of course, every decision you make around this topic area is controversial. My friend asked me the other day if I would have the amniocentesis if it came back high risk. I have no idea about this, as we didn't have to cross that bridge last time, but she did point out that knowing you have a high risk and not opting for amnio could be even worse than not knowing at all, esp if nothing proves to be wrong, but then amnio carries it's own (unthinkable) risks! I hate all these decisions! Confused

Some good giggles tonight - thanks ladies!

pipsicles · 06/08/2012 21:57

Haitch I had one at 8 wks with DS and en another at 12wks. I'd be highly surprised if they didn't offer you another - I'm sure it's some kind of requirement or something.

After all my above worrying, if I turn out to be any further along than 13+6, then I won't be having the testing anyway - I'll have 2 days leeway and that's it...we'll see.

Tiddley, you may be worried about DS self settling, buti am very Envy that he still sleeps on you! I miss that SO much and am desperately looking forward to it again! You have plenty of time to get him sorted.

Tay1981 · 06/08/2012 21:57

Hi everyone

Doing ok here - at my mum's now and keeping the vomming to a minimum and getting lots of TLC which is good. I had a horrible piece of news today though - one of my good friends has lost her baby at 6 months pregnant. Her daughter had stopped growing and then died. They don't know why. She gave birth to her and had time with her etc after the birth. I feel so very shocked and sad for her. I have made contact but I want to write her a letter .....any advice from those who have been through the loss of a baby or helped someone who has would be greatly appreciated. Don't want to say the wrong thing.

Thanks in advance x

Em2010 · 06/08/2012 22:00

We've decided against the nt screening. I'm afraid I'm taking the ostrich approach to any potential problems!

Has anyone been thinking of names yet?! I think I might have both a girls and boys name. Love the whole name deciding thing though. Definitely one of the better bits of pregnancy!

Ps what are daps???

HaitchJay · 06/08/2012 22:01

Popcicle- with dd3 I had one at 7 weeks and then 13 weeks but they said between 9-12 weeks for dating scan so if I fall in that gap I wouldn't get another.

Em2010 · 06/08/2012 22:02

Hi Tay, just saw your pst. That's such sad news. So so sorry for your friend. No advice really though I'm sure others on here will be able to offer some.

Lexiindisguise · 06/08/2012 22:03

Daps are plimsolls Grin I'm from Somerset originally, near Frome, my brother lives in Bristol still! I miss the West Country!

Lexiindisguise · 06/08/2012 22:05

Tay, so sorry to hear about your friend. Sad

Lexiindisguise · 06/08/2012 22:07

Oh and Haitch, in my area (North Herts) I was asked if I wanted the NT scan as you need a slightly longer appointment. So it was opt in for me on the NHS.
