JoJo that's awful, I hope your uni can help you, I know some have grants for these situations. Seems very unfair. You can get own brand versions of pregnacare in boots that are much cheaper , but you definitely should be able to eat! Sad
manda I know about the quarter way through! Relieved to be here, it's gone quickly and yet also super slowly! Hope the consultant can put your mind at rest & that you can make the birth plans you'd prefer.

sundaesundae · 06/08/2012 13:57

Am I the only one that is panicking a bit about mmc, blighted ovums, mc and everything else?

GP appointment tomorrow and hoping my scan comes through quickly, I want to see a bean!

sarahs999 · 06/08/2012 15:22

I had lots of alcohol free beer in Lanzariote a couple of weeks ago - it is actually v common over there, lots of people drink it like we would drink soft drinks. I think I will stick with that for special occasions (well, for proper special occasions I would just have a small glass of wine...) although I don't like to get bloated and beer always does that to me. Got a podgy enough belly as it is...

JoJoBella84 · 06/08/2012 15:22

Woowoo mock tail sound great! Off to Asda to stock up on the alcohol free alcohol :)

Thereisamumthatnevergoesout · 06/08/2012 15:50

Hi Everyone :)

Can I join in too please? I am 6wks+3 with DC3. Feeling very nervous as am 36 now and will be 37 by the due date of 29th March. Am cheating a little by jumping on March and April threads, but the you ladies are so far ahead of me that I feel like an underachiever on here lol.

DS is 7 and DD is 4. Was sick as a dog during both pregnancies so guessing I will have similar this time. Although so far I have no sickness which is worrying in itself. I never really worried during the other pregnancies, but then I was a lot younger.

DH is still getting used to the idea. He totally didn't want another DC and it took me over 2 years to talk him round. He seems to be vaguely aware of the fact that I?m pregnant, but doesn?t really ask me anything about it. Not even asked me due date! He?s still his normal cheerful self though so either he is in denial or is completely on board with the idea. Who knows how men think?

Was/am a bit concerned about lack of symptoms but did feel very exhausted yesterday afternoon and evening despite having had enough sleep. Have a bloated tummy which I have to hold in when in public.

Went to see GP a couple of weeks ago and she was lovely. No references to risk of mc or anything. Lovely lady. Have been referred for an 8 week appointment at my local surestart clinic on Aug 16th. Don?t remember having any appointments until 12/13 weeks with the other DCs so not sure what goes on at an 8 week one. Any experiences?

I have skimmed over the previous posts but have a shocking recollection at the best of times so have no hope of remembering all details and names. Hopefully I?ll catch on eventually.

Nice to see there a quite a few of you expecting DC3 and above. Also nice that there is a nice spread of ages. Already feel a bit geriatric!

Am very jealous of anyone who is even one hour more pregnant than me.

Is anyone having thoughts about whether to find out the sex?

shieldbug · 06/08/2012 16:02

welcome thereisamumthatnevergoesout(we seriously need to work out a name abbreviation here!) Don't worry about being older- I'm 39 and there are other older Mums here too. I'm also not due until late March (somewhere round the 27th), but ds was 12 days late, so I should probably be in the April thread by rights! I'm fully expecting to be the last to give birth on this thread.
Dh's huh? Mine said "oh dear" when I found out I was pg, even though he wants another one! He's actually really pleased, so who knows why he said that (probably not even dh himself)?

Good luck for tomorrow sundae. Hope you get a scan soon.

zoeymlucas · 06/08/2012 16:06

Hi Thereisamum this is my DC3 my DC2 is just over 18 months so feel a bit crazy doing it this soon. We were planning to start TTC this xmas but fell pregnant in april and had a MC in May so everything in my body just wanted to have another baby now and DH was wanted it too, luckily we fell the second month after.
I will be finding out the sex of this one as soon as I can ! I am a self confessed control freak and like everything planned and set out so have found out with both DC. Hoping there will be a scan nearer the 16 week mark than 20 week as last time I ended up paying private at 16+1 :( Are you going to find out?
I am actually due 14th March and have only joined this thread but know baby wont be coming in March I will be luck for Feb but Jan is more likely!

ThreeForTea · 06/08/2012 16:26

Hello, sorry didn't get to post for the last couple of days, have felt too weak and ill! Thank you for all the reassurances about dd going away. I'm so glad she did now, has made the weekend easier and they have sent me texts telling me everything she has been doing.

Had Midwife visit today, she was very clear that I need to be signed off from work for at least a week but maybe more. I just spoke to my boss. Was really worried because I have had so much time off already this year. I have also had to be really specific about my hours due to fitting childcare around work, so feel like I have been quite demanding about that :( Luckily he was really nice and said to focus on the good news of a healthy pregnancy. So no work for me this week - or until I feel better I guess.

Welcome thereisamum! My dh took a while to get used to the idea. My dad as well had five of us and he used to say that a pregnancy to the man is just a concept until the baby comes along! Hmm

Chefette · 06/08/2012 16:36

Welcome thereis I too am at the "elderly end" with 37 looming in April next yr. Whereabouts are you?

this is DC %231, and am permanently (silently) panicking, mostly as I have hardly any symptoms, daren't tell anyone about chickpea/bean or that we were even trying until at least after 12 wk scan ( although acc to dating scan I will be 13+4 at scan time).

Have realised today that i am totally bricking it actually, the scan and what it'll reveal Blush. Am just telling myself I can't do anything about anything anyway, just have to wait another 4 wks!!

A very chatty bunch here, keeping up is tough!! Some big posters, and they are super friendly!

Am looking forward to hearing the tasting/testing results of the alcohol free stuff, and am frustrated on your behalf jojo ref the allowances/benefit issue. Forgive me but are you married or will ur other halfs income be taken into account if you were to go for social funding (try the DWP web pages I think)? When does your course finish? Will you get SMP anyway? Again apologies if you've said already but will you be able to be working in your field without too much trouble when you choose to work post "poppage" or will you be working pre-poppage?

Day off today so met my chum with her nearly 6mth old DD, and meeting my other chum tomorrow with her 3mth old DD, both of them suspicious probably as am always asking "interested" questions, am hoping it will be chilly so can wear baggiest cardi!! Luckily (?!) there's a bit if extra poundage, so don't think anyone should notice anything for a good while Wink

Hope everyone is having a good day, am catching up on Olympics, it's great having a day off!!

Chefette · 06/08/2012 16:38

%231 ??????????? Oh my God!!!!! I meant number 1..................... Grin

tedmundo · 06/08/2012 16:47

Hi ladies

thereisamum .. I am 37, there are a few of us on here! Congrats!

Well, there is just the one in there with a lovely fast heartbeat. Dated exactly as I thought (9 weeks and 1 day) so felt brave enough to book in my Oscar for 25th. I will be 11w6 that day which I know is a day earlier than the golden 12 weeks they ask for, but the week after would be very tricky to get into the clinic. The receptionist said that was fine anyway, anything after 11w4 is OK.

I am so glad this one stuck and seems to be growing nicely. I even felt brave enough to tell my best friend today. Yikes - it is now real!

backwardpossom · 06/08/2012 17:02

Great news ted! I hope I can say the same tomorrow! X

Chefette · 06/08/2012 17:05

Lovely news Ted happy happy!!

Chefette · 06/08/2012 17:06

Oh and FXed for tomorrow Possum 4th sept feels so very far away here!

JoJoBella84 · 06/08/2012 17:19

chefette I'm divorced and in a relationship... I don't live with my OH so I don't know where that puts me in terms of benefits.
My course ends in July though I will be taking time out from jan so will be set back a few months. I've come across a document on line which states that students in receipt of NHS bursary should not have their payments stopped when on maternity break. I'm not sure how current it is though so that's worth me looking into!
I'm not working whilst I'm studying as NHS courses pay students a monthly bursary so as long as I budget I can focus purely on my studies! I need to call them tomorrow to check out the facts I think!!

On a much brighter note, I spoke to my York midwife today and she has booked me in for a booking appt next Tuesday :) she was so lovely and very excited when I informed her of my scan on Friday. She basically told me I'd get a really clear image of a baby on a miniature scale as I'll be 13+6. I'm really loving her enthusiasm!! She's going to use my Aberdeen notes as I'll be having the baby up here so it will avoid confusion.

I've even managed a couple of hours revision today AND have eaten 4 kiwis... New craving?!

Welcome thereisamum do you have a preferred abbreviation?? Don't worry about what feed you're on... I joined the march feed thinking I was due end of feb and then got told I'm due 10th feb so I stayed because of everyone's niceness and hand holding!!!

kirsty80 · 06/08/2012 17:21

Hey! Great news about your scan ted! Congratulations! So without sounding like the alcoholic of the group..... The rose wine from sainsburys is quite nice! As is the white - thing is they are both fizzy?! There really is no substitute for a lovely red in my eyes but waitrose sell a red grape juice that is taken from the merlot grape variety (I think) that I thought was really nice and quite full bodied (get me! Ha ha!) as far as beers go I have tried Bavaria and thought that was alright - quite realistic although Im not really a beer drinker. Finally, gave the mojito mocktail from tesco a try over the weekend and quite liked them too - especially with a glass of ice and fresh mint. So there you go - clearly someone has been missing alcohol over here Blush

tedmundo · 06/08/2012 17:24

possom .. Thanks and FXFXFXFX for you tomorrow. Will be sending good luck vibes!

I cried when she said, there's the heartbeat. I wasn't that worried, or so I thought, but clearly I was uptight about it.

Strangely, since the scan my sickness is a bit more bearable.

Is anyone else going for an Oscar scan?

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 06/08/2012 17:27

Ooh great news on your York mw Jojo! My experience of mw's in York has been pretty positive, so fingers crossed!

ted, what's an Oscar scan? Confused

backwardpossom · 06/08/2012 17:34

No idea what an Oscar scan is?!

pipsicles · 06/08/2012 17:42

Congratulations on your scanted! I am so pleased for you (and just a little bit Envy - 3rd Sept seems such a long way away now!) I have no idea what an Oscar scan is Blush, but would love to be enlightened!

Non alcoholic alcohol is sounding great - still no idea where to find it though - alcohol aisle? Is it all together, or spread around? Sorry for being so dense!

Welcome thereis it's good to have another new member on board! Congratulations!

We are back at our house after visiting grandparents and parents in Kent for the last ten days, but then we are off up north visiting PiLs tomorrow morning, so a whirlwind visit to our own home - hoping it won't disorientate DS too much. The only reason we are staying the night is because I have an order of maternity bras, leggings, bump bands and trouser extenders awaiting my collection at the post office and i really don't think o can go another day without them! Now I'm sat here on the sofa mustering up the energy to make DS's dinner and I'm glad we're not on the M6!

tedmundo · 06/08/2012 18:01

It is the test for chromosomal disorders. Not everyone bothers with them, so maybe it is not so common in other areas of the country? Here is Bristol, most people I know have it, just to be prepared really.

JoJoBella84 · 06/08/2012 18:23

Is that the same as the NT scan and combined blood test ted? I know that can identify a number of chromosomal abnormalities!
ethel I'm almost a bit gutted that I won't be in York for the birth, I'm looking forward to my move to Aberdeen but I love York :) - the MW just made me do jolly!!

Speaking of 'Oscar' I should probably take that imaginary chocolate lab of mine out for a walk whilst it's not raining and I still have the energy!!

Sheldonella · 06/08/2012 18:37

Great news on the scan ted. I have been tempted to book a private scan but I keep chickening out.

possom Good luck for tomorrow.

Welcome thereis :)

More on the non-alcoholic alcohol - there is a convincing red wine that really does taste of red wine. I got it in Waitrose but I can't remember what it is called. I will have a look next time I'm in there. I'll be seeking out the rose too.

I posted too soon on the sickness getting better as I've had a shocking afternoon. I feel really awful now, I hope I can make it into work tomorrow. DH is cooking some pasta so I hope this will make me feel better. Does anyone else have a horrible taste in their throat?

Something weird today too - I'm booked in for community midwife care (have an appointment and everything) but I got a letter today from the hospital asking me to make an appointment with the obstetrics clinic. No idea what it is for and it has me worried. Has this happened to anyone else? The only thing I can think of is it is because I've had a mc.

Em2010 · 06/08/2012 18:40

Oh a massive craving for Victoria Sponge has just overwhelmed me. Must. Have. Now!!

Yay! Big congratulations ted on your scan and healthy little bean! Good luck for tomorrow possum

Welcome thereisamum! We're definitely finding out the sex this time. Didn't with ds and it was nice to have the surprise but want to find out in advance this time as will have to buy lots of new baby clothes either way as ds was a summer babe (well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!) Really excited to find out now we've made the decision!!

Been feeling almost human today. Which has of course got me worrying that something is wrong! Just can't win!

Em2010 · 06/08/2012 18:44

Sorry sheldonella x-posted. I would give your obstetrics team a call and ask them why you have the appointment, not sure why they would send you that if no one had discussed it with you first? Confused
