Lol valium about your dh!

I've been to the outdoor pool (which ds LOVED!) then back to a friends house lounging in the garden in our swimsuits while the kiddies played. Been v enjoyable.

mrswee · 24/07/2012 17:33

LOL valium! Worth it's weight in gold? hehe

Everyone is so organised, I don't feel I can do any organising until we move when I will be around 30 weeks. then I will be forced into it.

how ever I am thinking about the birth..... Anyone else looking at hypnobirthing?

My friend has fairly recently passed her hypnotherapy exams and is giving me weekly sessions just now, for free bless her, starting with managing my stress and moving on to my pregnancy and finally hypnobirthing.

She is very good at it so far and it is helping with my stress so I am hoping it will be helpful!

I know a few people who did hypnobirthing, totally spilt into two camps of it was amazing and it didn't work.. to be fair those that it didn't work for all went through second stage inductions.

WaitingForMe · 24/07/2012 17:38

I've just sorted dates for hypnobirthing. I really like the idea but am nervous it's be run by a lentil weaving lunatic. Is anyone else planning on doing it?

Oh and DH just told me that MIL thinks my fit ball is a waste of time as I don't have it fully inflated and it won't work my core muscles. He tried explaining I have PGO and use it to ease that but I think PGP falls under the label of self indulgence in the youf of today in her eyes Hmm

WaitingForMe · 24/07/2012 17:38

What a cross post mrswee!

ValiumQueen · 24/07/2012 17:39

Grin Oh yes!

misslaughalot · 24/07/2012 17:46

Hi ladies, how are we all doing in the heat?! (If you are lucky enough to have the sunshine where you are that is...)

Just after quick opinions on this dress. After weeks of indecision DP has decided that we're going to his cousin's wedding on September 1st. I'll be nearly 29 weeks pregnant by then, and hopefully the sun will still be shining. Thoughts (or alternative suggestions) gratefully received!

waitingforme ha I thought you were answering my post!

valium hehe good to hear it!

misslaughalot lovely dress! I have wedding at 36 weeks.. I have bought a maternity dress in the sale a size up.. Gap size large rather than the medium I am now, should be fine but god knows what if anything I will be able to get my feet in by then!!

Peaky1 · 24/07/2012 18:05

Thanks, I hope it doesn't last long!

Does anyone rate the childcare voucher system? We'll be utilising it as we both work for the nhs.

How much are these hypnobirthing CDs then?

ValiumQueen · 24/07/2012 18:20

Childcare voucher system is good as it is reliable and taken from source, and you don't need annual reviews. You should still be entitled to them when on mat pay, even if on insufficient wage, as it is a perk, unless rules have changed. For some folk they are better off on tax credits, and there is an online tool that will tell you which would be better for you. As you both qualify, then that is a really good thing. I claimed them when I was the sole wage earner. It takes a couple of months to get set up.

NervousAt20 · 24/07/2012 18:42

misslaugh I think that's a really nice dress!

Had a day off today and bit the bullet and went to look at maternity clothes and managed to get a few bits from new look and some in the sale so pleased with what I got, even though I thought I would die from the sun and my hips would fall off before I got back to my car. The sun is lovely though

Everyone enjoying the sun?

What are people's views on swaddling V sleeping bags?

Catbag · 24/07/2012 18:58

Grumpy sort-of-ex-goth most certainly not enjoying the sun here. Well it's too bloody warm, isn't it? My feet are swelling, even when I'm sat down :( Not looking forward to going to bed tonight.

I've always swaddled my babies as it seemed to settle them down, but only for a few weeks as after that they don't seem to appreciate it as much.

ValiumQueen · 24/07/2012 19:07

Swaddle for a few weeks, gradually releasing arms, then into gro bag is how I did it.

Lovely dress. Wish I was young and slim enough to carry it off.

DesperateHousewife21 · 24/07/2012 19:21

miss that's a nice dress it'll work well for a wedding.

I've got a christening at the end of oct and I've been asked to be a godparent. I've no idea what to wear or how warm it'll be and I'll be about 37 weeks!

TheDetective · 24/07/2012 20:14

I am SO grumpy right now. Work are the main instigator, DP the other, and the heat packing in a punch on the way down too.

I need a good scream! ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Sorry! That's better I wish.

Tomorrow I will eBay for the hypnobirthing stuff, will let you know what I think! I've not seen it used yet, but love the idea!

We aren't entitled to TC's, we missed out by earning £100 more!!! I am not a lucky person! Now we will be earning less this next year, they have dropped the threshold by £8k, but again, we will earn approx £1k over the threshold. Even with an extra child to pay for!

I really need to relax, I'm so wound up at the moment, it just isn't worth it. I'm going to make myself ill if I carry on this way. I'm tempted to get signed off work for a week, but then because I was off at the start with hyperemesis, I feel like that would be just taking the piss. I'm not usually off sick ever. But I really feel work is causing me huge levels of stress right now, and I need time off life for a moment :( Then again, if I do take time off, I'm so worried that they won't let me do some extra shifts on my annual leave before baby comes, and I NEED to do them, or we won't have the savings to keep the wolf at bay during mat. leave.

Seriously pissed off at the moment. With everything! Apart from baby, and DS. They are okay lmao!

I meant to post about bump pains too, I get them when I go shopping! When I walk quickly around town, no stopping etc, after about 20 minutes I start aching and cramping. Guess its telling me to slow down! I rush round in work but don't get them, but I guess that is because I am up and down, walking and stopping etc. Think its the constant walking that triggers them.

Who posted those baby hoodies yesterday?? I've forgotten already! Anyway, thank you! I love them! Am going to get one, as I think its a much better alternative to a snow suit, and I've been looking for something to go in the car seat - and found nothing til now! The one I wanted was on eBay yesterday, but someone bought it before I could! So going to keep an eye on eBay for one at first, but will get one in a few weeks if I can't find one on there!

Off to work now :(

ValiumQueen · 24/07/2012 20:29

Up to 26K if one kid.
Up to 32K if two kids.
May be entitled if you earn more and pay childcare.
If parent or child disabled, it makes a difference.
Both must be working 28 hours a week between them. One must work at least 16 hours.

NervousAt20 · 24/07/2012 21:05

Aw detective maybe you need some time to de stress and unwind? Surely if work are that busy they would give you extra shifts when you take your annual leave to help themselves out?

Okay so swaddling seems best to try for a newborn, I have a sleeping bag or 2 but says not to use them until baby is 8.8lb I think Confused and were not ment to put blankets on them, so there's not much choice but to swaddle is there? Sorry if I'm just being dumb, was on Me Google today and it's filled me with alsorts that I hadn't even thought of!

Peaky1 · 24/07/2012 21:28

Tell me about it! I'm looking forward to some antenatal classes as when the baby finally arrives I'll be thinking "So....what now?" lol

daisychain76 · 24/07/2012 21:45

nervous I think it depends on the type of blankets - you don't use fleece ones, but can use cellular ones from birth (and that's what they have in hospitals).

Just eaten 1/2 a family size mississippi mud pie (taken over from banoffee pie as my treat of choice), 2 nectarines and half a punnet of cherries and feel sooo sick...

jenbird · 24/07/2012 22:29

Can I just ask if anyone else doesn't feel their baby move much yet. I am 23 weeks and get some wriggles very low down but not very often. My placenta is anterior and I don't get any chance during the day to pay any attention to it (3dc's 6 and under and own business to run) but I do find it really disconcerting!

Dixiebell · 24/07/2012 22:47

I wasn't in the bloody district nurses' diary! Luckily managed to get hold of them and they finally sent someone round about 7. Going to them tomorrow, it's safer! No, valium, they don't seem able to give me even a rough time, I agree it would be helpful!

Re: swaddling, I used sheets and cellular blankets with DS until he was old enough for sleeping bag (abt 8 wks). Think I said before I read somewhere that swaddling can cause overheating. But actually I just never really worked out how to do it.

I am 22 weeks jen, don't have loads of kicking but maybe a few times a day I feel some small kicks, usually low down. I think it's still quite early to be expecting loads, don't think ypu're supposed to do counting until something like 28 weeks?

Re hypnobirthing, I read the book last time and took from it the principle that the pain will be easier to handle if you're relaxed and breathing. But it was all a bit complicated following the proper steps, I think you prob have to commit to doing it properly, including getting your partner to as well. Having given birth once I can't really believe that the techniques would lead to a pain-free labour as suggested, but I can see it could give you something to focus on to get you through it.

mrswee · 24/07/2012 23:06

jenbird I'm 22 weeks today and my placenta is also anterior. I am feeling exactly the same as you, i had expected more movment by around this time but I guess the placenta is affecting it.

GTbaby · 25/07/2012 01:35

Ok. I think I'm eating to much fruit now Blush

Frosties cereal
Banana
Carrot sticks
Cherries
Grapes
Potatoe with beans n cheese
Bakewell slices
Cheese n onion crisps
Mango ( omg so good)
Pineapple
Chappati
Yoghurt.

Any suggestions of what to add?

So tiered. But cant sleep. Lil fraggle is making massive movements. jen at 22 weeks I hardly felt anything and was quite jealous of others feeling lots. But at 26 weeks I'm feeling lots. N can see some as well.

Not sure how this kick counting works. I downloaded the chart. But can't work it out. Blush

Hope u all manage to sleep on this lovely slightly to hot evening.

Iheartpasties · 25/07/2012 07:01

Im actually 25 weeks, horay!

I'm not sure if I will take any raspberry leaf tea capsules this time around, i want to talk to the midwife about it nearer the time.

Chunkychicken · 25/07/2012 08:18

Jenbird I'm also 23wks & have an anterior placenta BUT its low-lying, so I'm feeling quite a lot of movement. I felt DD quite early on despite having an anterior placenta with her too, so maybe I just have wriggly babies & sensitive insides??!! My movements have also shifted, so feeling them up into my tummy/under my ribs & into my side/back slightly more sometimes particularly when standing, although when sitting they are generally in the front/bump area, although out of the side, rather than around the belly button. Can often feel baby shifting, feels like I have a washing machine in my tummy!! I noticed with DD that the movements were never particularly distinct or obvious on the outside - on YouTube there are videos of massive movements and obviously limbs etc sticking out, but I think an anterior placenta rather limits that. I wouldn't worry though, sometimes babies are more sleepy & don't move much, but as Dixie said, its only later on you should worry if the pattern of movement changes. :)
