Congrats madam!

Great news yw

MissMummy1 · 20/07/2012 21:24

YW I really don't know what I'd do without her! I'm working wednesday and thursday mornings but will be back in dbay by about half 1ish on both days so whichever suits you! Ts shift rotation changes on wed night meaning thursday is the first day off on his weeks leave (soon to be changed to 2 on, 2 off yay!). If your dh wants some man chat or a dive then thursday would be good, otherwise wednesday is equally fine! :-) I'll need to quiz you on the edinburgh course as so far my midwife is proving to be really crap (think losing my notes, turning up an hour late for appointments, putting me down as a smoker and heavy drinker despite me telling her i rarely drank pre pregnancy and have never smoked in my life!).Not impressed.

Such lovely news re your friend. Fingers and toes and everything crossed everything goes well for her xxx

TitsalinaBumSquash · 20/07/2012 21:24

My entertainment for the last hour has been putting things on my bump and seeing if jr can kick them off, so far he's got Smarties off but can't manage Tums Grin

YellowWellies · 20/07/2012 21:34

It's £85 for the two of us for a one day course - with breathing exercises, lots of active labour positions, massage etc and some gruesome videos :) sounds better than the one hour tour of the hospital you get up here.

Bit of a random one, but have figured I need to drive before the baby arrives and am contemplating a two week intensive residential driving course. Do you think a driving instructor would take a 7 month preggers woman. It would involve 40 hours of tuition so would be pretty intensive but not too intensive (and touch wood my hips etc are fine at the mo). Are there any insurance / medical reasons as to why this would be a bad idea. (I know it's not ideal but figure it would be much more stress after with a baby in tow, and the lessons would be in Dunkeld in tranquil Perthshire so not too manic)...

NervousAt20 · 20/07/2012 21:51

yellow the only thing I can think of that might cause you a problem is not being able to do emergency stop and that might come up in your test but not sure about the rest

MissMummy1 · 20/07/2012 21:56

YW all I can think of is how on earth you could go more than half an hour without peeing?! You're a determined woman so I'm sure you'll ace it!

Might need to look into course - DH is trying to sign us up for pregnancy yoga too (on the condition none of his workmates find out lol!)

MissMummy1 · 20/07/2012 21:59

Also, my hips are absolutely fine APART from when I'm driving. Seat has been readjusted to within an inch of its life which has eased it a bit but something to bw aware of! I don't see it being a problem though, a friend of mine had lessons right through her pregnancy and actually passed her test the day before she had her wee boy!!

TheDetective · 20/07/2012 22:57

Appointment was interesting Wink

I'm measuring small for dates at the minute - which I knew, it feels pretty small, and my uterus is only just above my umbilicus. Measured at 22cm, and I'm 25 weeks tomorrow. I'm not concerned, babies grow at different rates, and DS measured to dates, but felt small to the midwives - he wasn't Grin he was a heffer!

The breech bit of my birth plan got lots of tutting, and no, we won't be happy with that, won't agree to that blah blah. I find it astounding that there are still midwives out there who think they can refuse to give care because they say so! Honestly...! She gave up reading at that bit, and said she would pass it to a supervisor of midwives. Which is what I wanted. So, result! Just waiting for them to contact me now, suspect it will be in the next few weeks! Other than that, all was fine!

I love this little baby I do... really enjoying my pregnancy now! And loving my bump now its not 2 rolls of fat!

Fatima Have you read my birth plan? You know it doesn't matter what you are 'told'. It is your choice. You can chose to birth where you want. PM me if you need to.

GTbaby · 21/07/2012 02:33

madam i have a few stock phrases i use currently
"nevermind" and "its ok" for when she is telling me how to do things correctly

valiumlots of cultural differences, but breast feeding is not one of them... baby and i not leaving house for 6 weeks is one of them tho!

fatima i watched one born every minute when it was on TV, DH hated it as he thought it would put me off wanting kids, but i felt like i needed to know what i was in for! lol

today was last day of school for me for 6 weeks, so looking forward to some rest days. got home at 4 and slept from 5 to 9, mil didn't seem impressed :S oh well "nevermind' lol

went to DH friends house warming after that, just a few friends and partners. two 3 month olds and one 11 month old in the mix, was nice to think other ppl i know if in RL are at similar stages in their lives.

right, got to motivate myself to get up at 8 so i can go to the aqua fit class at 10 tomorrow. looking at the time, don't seem too hopeful... but will try my best :)

night nigh folks

DesperateHousewife21 · 21/07/2012 06:45

Ugh ds was up at 5:30. Dh got up with him but I couldn't really get comfy again so I think I'm going to be quite tired today.

ValiumQueen · 21/07/2012 07:26

DD was up at 5, so DH brought her into bed with us. She has to sleep with her arms around my neck, and nose up against mine. Lovely, but far from comfy. No more sleep had from me.

Iheartpasties · 21/07/2012 08:19

I'm going out tonight, pretty exciting. I don;t get to out all that often so tonight will be nice. I'm meeting up with my mum's group friends for a meal out.

I'm glad to hear about peoples good news.

I sometimes still cannot believe I'm pregnant, do others feel like that??!

tomatoplantproject · 21/07/2012 08:27

For those with sore hips, if they don't get better you should get some physio. I've been going to antenatal yoga which has been good, but even better was a physio class at the hospital for preggos with the same problem. We were given loads of advice eg don't just grin and bear the pain but stop and rest regularly, walking for exercise is wrong if it hurts, take short strides, keep your legs together (bit late for that now though!). We also had some exercises to do - pelvic floors and tummy strengthening.

I figured out if I got help now hopefully I can manage it rather than ending up in bed - one of my friends ended up completely bedridden. And now I have a "proper" problem with medical advice dh is being a bit more sympathetic.

Am loving the chat about routines. I am clueless, although have the baby whisperer book to read - out of my close girlfriends only one seems to have had an easy time, out for a drink after a few weeks etc and she's recommended it. She has a really calm and laid back baby so I'm hoping some of the magic will rub off.

Peaky1 · 21/07/2012 08:48

Chicken- thanks for the advice about the pump and EBF. I think I will look for a 2nd hand Medela Swing and then if things don't go as planned i'll simply sell it on.

Passmethecrisps · 21/07/2012 09:17

Morning

First time trying my new enormous pillow last night - it got turfed out at about 1:30am. Didn't ease my back pain and impeded by progress to the loo. Am still up multiple times a night - I don't think I will ever pee normally again. I toss and turn so many times that this thing made me feel like I was having a work out. I think it will be great when I am bigger and thus more immobile.

Step closer to getting the spare room cleared. Spent yesterday sorting and shredding papers that were up there. Think DH is struggling to get used to the idea that this will be the baby's room rather than a magnificent spare room. I get where he is coming from - it has been a dumping ground the whole time we have lived here and has never been used as a spare room. Now it is almost clear but won't get its original function. I think comprehending that there will be another human being in the house who will need there own space is messing with his head.

Glad the sun is shining today - have a festival thing today which would be hard going in the rain!

horseylady · 21/07/2012 10:08

Detective where should they measure from? The midwife pretty much measured from my sternum to my pelvis bone which seems pretty high when she didn't feel where my uterus was?

I have prickly heat :( all down my legs. Have been sitting in the shade too :(

Sophiathesnowfairy · 21/07/2012 10:09

Too much change Sad New car arrived yesterday. Hunting for rental properties today as we have sold our house so we can build in the middle of nowhere in Northern Ireland. So unless we find something quick smart we are homeless from 7 Aug. Rental Market seems dead. Caravan perhaps?

FatimaLovesBread · 21/07/2012 11:27

Detective I've just read your birth plan, it's given me lots to think about. Do you think it would be worth writing a rough birth plan before I see the consultant so then I'll have some ideas of what I want before he tells me what he thinks I can do? Or is 22 weeks to early for a birth plan?

I'm ok with the CLU if I get a room to myself all the way through and if it means I can still use the birth pool facilities. But if there's less chance of using the pool then is rather be in the MLU. We're goin to go for a tour to compare the two.
I might go for a compromise and see about the MLU that's in the same hospital as the CLU. I'm also concerned about what happens if it's v busy and the CLU is full, where do I go then? With the MLU you have two other options but the CLU you don't

TitsalinaBumSquash · 21/07/2012 11:40

squee the travel system arrive this morning! :)

ValiumQueen · 21/07/2012 12:22

Come on tits more details needed!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 21/07/2012 12:29

We went with the Petite Star Kurvee in apple green, it has the carry cot, pushchair and car seat with it, I "drove" it round the shop and it handles like a dream. It was also 20% in mothercare, they delivered in 2 days! :) Grin

ValiumQueen · 21/07/2012 13:13

Very nice, and good reviews too. I have never looked at Petite Star prams. There are just hundreds to choose from. Quite glad my search has been limited to doubles as there are not quite so many.

My PnT was due to be delivered today, but the fella had to cancel. Rather disappointed, but it is not as if I need it yet. It is not as swanky a colour as tits as black and grey.

FatimaLovesBread · 21/07/2012 14:06

Just had a look at it on line, looks good. I've not looked at the Petite Stars in the flesh but it looks good. I love pushchair shopping, wish I could work in John Lewis nursery department Grin

I had another fab nights sleep with the DreamGenii. Spent all night on my left and never moved!

We've just done the first coat of paint in the nursery!! Going to write a list of all the baby things I've got so far then going to sit in the sun and watch DH play cricket.

Lilliana · 21/07/2012 14:11

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't had time to catch up with everyone but now we have finally reached the summer holidays I will have more time.

One of my class gave me nipple cream as part of my leaving present Blush however think it will be one present that I will actually use!! Grin

Had a lovely last day but glad it is over. Had a looong lie in and for the first time in ages have done nothing today and loving it. DH has been home for the last few days ill and is now starting to climb the walls as he is not good at being confined which is making me look even lazier!

DH going to have another go at looking at your birth plan today as think I need to get started on one so hope it works.

Enjoy the sun all

TitsalinaBumSquash · 21/07/2012 18:14

Ugh my bump is really crampy low down this evening. Sad
