I remember David Lamb narrating CDWM (now in Germany they don't have anything nearly as brilliant as the old terrestrial channels :( ) and thank you for the pic link Fluff I know him and I remember seeing him in various things but I don't know what....

Anyway, any news on Loop? I'm going to fetch me some cake then I'll be back! :)

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 06/09/2012 16:15

Nutella, here's a link detailing what he's been in (I haven't seen any of them!)

What cake are you having?

Omg, I've just realised I've seen him in Miranda without knowing! Shock

I had a piece of the victoria sponge I made yesterday... had to use mascarpone to fill it though because you can't get decent whipping cream or double cream in Germany :( unless anyone knows different?
It was very nice.... might have another piece... well it needs eating up you know!

Biscuitsandtea · 06/09/2012 16:59

I have never seen DL in any of those things, but he did go to my university (albeit several years before me)

And I'm afraid, this may make me some sort of heathen, but I have to have buttercream in a Victoria sponge Blush. Marscapone sounds nice though - did you mix it with anything?

Stacks · 06/09/2012 17:13

Hello again everyone. I keep disappearing off Mumsnet, and it's not like I'm doing anything else interesting!

I'm 26 weeks now, and things are going well. Having some problems sleeping with bad hips/back, though I think that's as much our mattress as pregnancy. It used to make my back hurt before, but only if I was in bed too long (9hrs or more). It's a good and expensive mattress, with memory foam topping and springs and stuff - and not that old really, maybe 5 years?

Baby moves around lots, but I've noticed the movements have changed recently. I think his back is against my front, so most of his kicks are inwards and not really felt. I now just get lots of little movements, and not many kicks - except into my bladder/pelvis!

I've started worrying a bit about my lack of bond/excitement over the baby. I've bought one sleep suit so far, and that's it. My sister gave me all sorts of other stuff, including a pushchair and clothes.. it's all still just laying the in the spare room where she left it 3 weeks ago. I've not had the urge to go through it or play with it at all. I also don't talk to bump at all, which I wasn't worried about until something they said on The Midwives made me think everyone talks to their bump. Do they/you?

Enough about me!

Loopy I hope you managed your VBAC, or if not, that you're enjoying newborn snuggles after a quick and simple CS.

Fluff only a month to go, exciting. I'm sure you won't need the induction, so try not to worry about it. Also, you're totally within your rights to refuse a sweep before you're 40 weeks.

Far our hospital has a physio drop-in for pregnancy. Not sure how good the service would be if you needed more than just a bit of advice though. I hope the private session pays off.

Boo citrus was great for stopping me feeling sick. Fresh (or bottled) lemon and lime juice mixed with water was lovely, and all I drank for weeks. I was never actually sick though, so not sure if it'll help with that, but worth a try.

Whim I can't believe they dub Bob! Though, at least they have it there in some form, I'd have expected them to have completely different cartoons for some reason. I also suggest looking at Netflix if you have something you can stream it on. They've got all the original Thomas Tank Engine, Pingu and other classics.

Wow, it's home time! I'm 15 minutes late for leaving on time, and I was SO certain I'd leave promptly. Will catch up more at home.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 06/09/2012 18:14

Aww stacks don't worry about your bond with baby - it will happen when s/he comes if not sooner. I think everyone's different though. My sil read her bump a book every night from 8 weeks which I found bizarre; I feel very bonded with my baby but I've only started talking to her over the past couple of weeks (am 34+5) and at your stage I'd not even bought any baby stuff, never mind wash it / play with it etc :)

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 06/09/2012 18:17

Ps is your mattress maybe just too hard? We have memory foam but ours is still a bit hard for me (we bought one without much give for Dh's back condition). The physio recommended putting a folded duvet or blanket on it to further pad it.

stacks I sing occasionally to my bump but only when I'm in bed and I want to go to sleep and the bean is doing some form of exercise routine... I'm trying to experiment and see if bean will recognise the song after birth too.
Otherwise when I speak to the bump I usually say "what are you doing down there" because I get this weird tight feeling at the bottom of bump that feels like my trousers are too tight but I know they're not... Confused what is it doing??

whimsicalname · 06/09/2012 18:57

stacks my husband bought a book of poetry and read DS1 a poem a night in utero. Very out of character. It made me feel sick (not that i ever told him). I'm not generally very interested in my babies when they're still inside (although I generally enjoy pregnancy), but once they're out I won't put them down for weeks - using a sling, sleeping with the basket in bed, that kind of thing.

Mind you, that stage doesn't last long! But my 2yo is asleep next to me on the sofa and is being just lovely.

What I'm trying to say is everyone is different. In fact, each pregnancy is different, and even if you don't feel a great attachment / attraction now, you will at some point. There's a lot of hype about how we're 'meant' to feel which can be quite distracting if it doesn't correlate with how you actually feel. Hope you're ok.

TheLittleFriend · 06/09/2012 19:09

stacks definitely don't worry about the bonding thing. Babies in-utero are a very abstract thing, quite hard to bond with I think. It has no bearing on how you will be when he arrives. And I definitely didn't talk to dd when she was a bump Smile

nutella I made a sponge cake today too, and biscuits, you'll be glad to know it's got buttercream in it Smile

I had my 16wk mw appointment today, lovely to hear the baby's heartbeat.

A quick question though, as you lot are surely wiser than me. Why is my blood pressure better now it's 160/62, from when it was 140/80? Is the lower figure the important one?

cakes82 · 06/09/2012 19:45

I don't really talk to my bump much either, I say morning when it firsts moves for the day and also ask it what its doing sometimes if its having a mad fidget. I heard about reading or singing to bump but never really found opportunity or real inclination to do that.

Not that I know a huge amount but I think a lower second figure with blood pressure is good it has something to do with bloods ability to return back to heart/lungs. Although i'm sure someone can make more sense than me.

HaveALittleFaith · 06/09/2012 20:20

Hi stacks! I think it varies between people. I've already become quite affectionate towards my teeny tiny bump, rubbing it and talking to it. My sister on the other hand was fairly detached from her bump. She only fet attached after he came out!

little hello! :) it's the combination of the blood pressure. Top figure is the heart in action, bottom one is heart at rest. A 'perfect' BP would be 120/80 but To be honest, either BP sounds ok to me. Mine was 90/60 last week! Shock

I'm doing ok, just awfully tired and quite bunged up. Combination of known IBS, regular codiene (chronic pain) and pregnancy is fatal! Asked my GP who has prescribed me lactulose to soften things up.

ReturnOfTheMunx · 07/09/2012 03:44
