I think this is the first time I've ever started a brooking thread! Shock

Have put a different pic on think I may have gone to other extreme with pic size tho oops Blush

cakes82 · 01/09/2012 20:03

Glad bands seem to be working, they took 24hrs constant wearing before they really got to work and I didn't take them off apart from to shower for 8weeks. Guess that bit depends on whether your in long sleeved clothes or not, and whether you want to hide them or not.

Princesslovelyboo · 01/09/2012 20:56

That is what I was thinking earlier, they are very obvious, but I have long sleeves to wear.

cakes82 · 02/09/2012 13:31

One of my odd questions for you all, have any of you had any pg dreams about childbirth or feeding? Everything I've read said you get dreams about the childbirth aspect cause its like your inner 'fears' so why was my dream about feeding?

BartletForTeamGB · 02/09/2012 17:03

I can't think I've ever dreamt about childbirth or feeding! And I have completely bonkers dreams!

Off to see the consultant tomorrow but it will just be for urine/BP. I'm hoping they might offer to let me listen to the baby's heartbeat because I've got another couple of weeks to wait for my 16 week scans, which will actually be at 18 weeks. Grr.

itsMYNutella · 02/09/2012 18:20

Hello! Back from a short holiday in Denmark (living in northern Germany makes it a rather easy holiday to drive to) its an odd place...
Anyway, how is everyone? I'm certain my bump has grown loads just this week! Now 23+3. Next Drs appointment is tomorrow, I think I'll have gained another two kilos and I'm sure she will tell me off - or at least remind me not to put on too much weight... So far I've put on almost 7.5 kilos. Which I personally find acceptable... I think Confused

And DP can now feel bean much better. When I laid down last night in bed I got DP to have a feel because I was sure he would feel the bean turn. And he did :o he was so excited and then watched my belly moving for a bit. We guess baby was getting cosy - like a cat or something.

New problem, and I'm only guessing, is that baby seems to think my bladder is a cushion and moves round to settle on it while I'm in the car. Which means every time we drive somewhere, when I get out I feel this massive pressure and really need to wee... Is baby moving into a head down position? I have no idea but anyone else experience similar?

Thank you! Hope you're all well. I'll try and catch up properly in the next day or two and find out what I've missed :)

Hello to the new brookers!

clickingtock · 02/09/2012 18:44

No Fluff, next year! Still waiting for ring to be sorted. And will need to have baby2 first plus loose pg weight. 1 year to organise should be long enough.

Open fire no use; tiny grate and no warmth plus v messy, especially now we have kids.

Sorry about MS. My DMa had 2 boys then me but no sickness ever. My aunt had 2 girls but no sickness. Tis just a lottery methinks with each pregnancy not down to sex of baby.

7.5kg seems fine Nut. Sweet about movements.

All good here. Lovely day by Swale estuary and great pub grub.

Xxx

clickingtock · 02/09/2012 18:47

Btw baby may be head down, Nut but unlikely to settle yet. 34 wks is beginning of potential settling but my first moved from breech right at end of pregnancy....

TheLittleFriend · 02/09/2012 18:59

sorry to hear about the sickness boo. I find the bands work for travel sickness so worth a shot?

cakes your bump looks great! Really neat Smile

bartlet glad to see you on here, I've been wondering when you'll have your 16wk scan and come and join us properly Wink What a shame about having to wait til 18 wks though. How is your sickness now?

I'm feeling exhausted today, I always seem to overdo it on a Sunday, because I try to get loads of housework done. Roll on bed time (can I push is earlier than 9pm?)

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 03/09/2012 08:37

How are you feeling today boo?

Hi bartlet!

Lovely bump cakes :)

SIL1 had no MS and had a girl.... SIL2 had awful morning sickness, and also had a girl. I think it's luck of the draw?

I am exhausted today. Up four times for wee in the night, uncomfortable all night, then awake early too :( Thank goodness it's my last working week...

Princesslovelyboo · 03/09/2012 09:26

Hi, thanks for asking, not too bad to far but it creeps up during the day. The bands help though.

Fluff I am sure work won't mind you taking it easy this week.

BartletForTeamGB · 03/09/2012 09:29

I've had terrible morning/all day sickness and had 1 boy and 1 girl, so not convinced about the baby's sex causing it. My MIL had it very badly (and actually took an anti-emetic when pregnant with DH that was subsequently withdrawn after causing congenital malformations!) and my DM didn't get much at all, so I wonder if it is FIL/DH's fault and something about their genes!

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 03/09/2012 10:34

I wish, boo! I have lots to do before I finish work otherwise I will have to work Saturday to finish it Shock :o

OP posts:
Princesslovelyboo · 03/09/2012 10:34

I think it is a punishment for being a smug cow in my last 2 pregnancies, as my lovely friend pointed out, its about time I got it :(

Princesslovelyboo · 03/09/2012 10:38

Oh dear Fluff :(

itsMYNutella · 03/09/2012 11:39

Fluff I don't know how people carry on working full time while pregnant! I'm freelance and so things have naturally slowed down (which is also incredibly frustrating - I'm bored Confused I like working!!) but hope you get it finished and can relax, how long until you're due?

They are also doing a GTT thing at the Drs later. I don't have to fast for it. But I do have to sit for an hour and do nothing... must remember to take a book... It usually takes ages - the nurse does her bit testing wee, blood pressure and weight; then we wait until the Dr is free which is generally another 20-40 minutes.... So glad DP normally comes with me and keeps me entertained :) he is a sweetie.
And it's so cute when his face lights up when he feels the bean moving
Hi everyone else!
Hope the ms gets better asap boo I also didn't suffer with it, my Mum never did, but I guess this is only baby 1... who knows what might come next Confused

itsMYNutella · 04/09/2012 08:57

Bleurgh the GTT drink I had to take was horrible! But I have gained in total (almost) 7kilos so far :) very happy with that. Was lighter than I expected at the Dr's so I guess it all evens out. And the Dr didn't moan at me! Shock yay! Progress!
We get the diabetes result by ringing them on Thurs or Fri.... little bit nervous but hoping all is ok. Really want this to all go well (as everyone does); also so that future babies don't become something scary but a healthy possibility.

Also had a scan (weren't able to check heart function properly at the last scan) and baby has grown so much in four weeks! Crazy! But it was all good. Last night I could see baby kicking me too... made my jelly belly wobble :o

TheLittleFriend · 04/09/2012 12:36

I remember that yucky drink from first time around nutella. Will be having it this time too. I thought a super sweet drink would be unpleasant but managable, but it really was gross!

Princesslovelyboo · 04/09/2012 13:53

I had 2 GTTs when I was pg with DS, and they made me drink lucozade on an empty tummy :( I hate lucozade, I have always hated lucozade :(:( they will probably make me do it again this time too as during pregnancy I do seem to pee out a lot of glucose.

My MS seems to be better the last 2 days, just a bit of nausea in the mornings, please tell me this is normal cos I am startting to mental that my symptoms have gone I am always the first one to tell people it is fine when this happens to them, until now, its happening to me :( I did POAS just to make sure, it was an IC and the positive result came up before the test line did, so that is good Sorry for being a bit mental.

itsMYNutella · 04/09/2012 15:19

boo I can totally understand, I'm happy to now have a bump and feel movement because (sorry everyone) other than being tired and occasionally hormonal my pregnancy has been rather symptomless... really did my best just to be happy and not think about it. :)

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 04/09/2012 15:46

Just a mega quickie, sorry for not namechecking -

Just back from my consultant appointment. My TSH was 0.22 last time so they're making me decrease my thyroxine to the lowest it's been in about 3 years (which i found odd considering I'm 35+3 already) but otherwise all is well. I've also been booked in for induction 10 days after on due date, and told to have my mw do a sweep when I'm 38-39 weeks - tbh I thought this was very early Shock is that normal?? I'm planning on requesting it for 39w as 38 seems a bit overzealous??

OP posts:
TheLittleFriend · 04/09/2012 19:11

fluff my mw wouldn't do a sweep before 40wks, though I suppose on a consultants instructions it might be different. I think the reason was that it is unlikely to have any effect if your body isn't pretty much ready anyway. Maybe speak with your mw at your next appointment and see what she says?

cakes82 · 04/09/2012 19:15

Fluffy Have heard of sweeps being done at 40wks onwards, but guessing that your thyroid 'thing' (sorry not sure how best to refer to it) makes a difference. It means your baby could turn up before mine lol

Loopyhasanotherbean · 04/09/2012 21:32

just a quickie from me. have had lots of braxton hicks over last week, and then started getting contractions or tightenings again last night, every 5-6 minutes from 9pm through the night and they continued through the day. Had to go to hospital for pre-op checks today anyhow, so mw did an examination and a stretch/sweep in the hope it kicks things off tonight before tomorrows ELCS. Got home and when went to the loo had lost the remainder of my mucus plug, absolutely loads, which was about 2 hours after the sweep at most. So no idea if anything will happen from this, but if not, then will still be meeting our baby tomorrow, just that i'd rather have had an attempt at VBAC if baby was in right position which we think he is at the moment, but guess odds are small now so facing facts that going to be a 6 week recovery, but hopefully will have a much easier time than from my horrendous EMCS...

Biscuitsandtea · 05/09/2012 06:55

Wait! There's a new mini-brooker arriving TODAY??? Fantastic Loopy Smile. Good luck! Hope everything kicked off overnight and you're enjoying newborn snuggles, otherwise good luck with the ELCS today.

I don't know how this passed me by - my apologies but you ladies had fallen off my 'threads you're on' Blush.

So we have Loopy today and Fluff is not far behind? Anyone else eyeing up a spot on the comfy sofas in the post grad lounge?
