I think this is the first time I've ever started a brooking thread! Shock

Hi tock! Ooo exciting about the wedding! Can you not hold the reception in a naice pub or restaurant or something to save money?

Big hug munx - hopefully you're feeling a bit perkier today? :)

Little my due date is October 6th, not long now!

Yay far! :)
Do I remember rightly that you're having a girl? We've got a shortlist of 3 names, and we'll pick from those once she's here or that's the plan

Hiya ladies, thought I would pop over here with my BFP and try your thread out for size :) we found out on Sunday when we got back off our holiday, it was also our wedding anniversary.

HaveALittleFaith · 29/08/2012 19:03

Hiya boo! Nice to see you here :) what a lovely anniversary present. Mine was an early birthday present!

TheLittleFriend · 29/08/2012 19:11

boo you got your bfp!!! Congratulations GrinGrin. I'm really struggling to keep up with the ttc thread these days, so glad you've come here to tell us.

far wonderful news about the scan, you must be feeling great about that.

fluff my dd is the 16th so I hope you have your little one before they can share a birthday. A chance though!

Princesslovelyboo · 29/08/2012 19:16

Thanks for the welcome, it is starting to feel real now :) and I am only peeing on 1 stick a day now

whimsicalname · 30/08/2012 03:03

Hello everyone. Congrats to boo and to faith. I thank you for sending me over to the brookers many many months ago!

I'm still feeling a bit shell shocked at this whole moving to the US thing, but our stuff is coming tomorrow which will be part blessing part curse as so many things are. I'm used to only having 3 outfits and 1 pillow and not quite enough crockery to serve a meal now and the house is untidy enough without the 50 boxes of plastic tat treasure which will be arriving.

I haven't quite managed to read back over the thread, and I'm afraid the ttc one has been entirely neglected for ages, but I hope you're all well and I'll be back with avengeance in a week or two.

Princesslovelyboo · 30/08/2012 07:55

Hi Whim I was actually thinking about you earlier wondering how the move went, I am sure you will soon be settled. :)

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 30/08/2012 09:01

Congratulations boo! What fabulous news :)

Thanks Faith :) As uncomfortable as I am, I'd much rather go overdue than have her early tbh - we have 6 family birthdays in September already, and none in October

Hi whims! I'm sure you'll settle in soon, especially once the kids start school? :)

I know what you mean about birthdays Fluffy We have loads in July/Aug so have managed to avoid those two months. Only 1 birthday in September and its mine! dh says as i'm 30 this year baby can't come in September cause it will be too expensive lol We also have 1 birthday in Oct so not too bad.

HaveALittleFaith · 30/08/2012 18:11

We don't have any birthdays in late April/May so I'm quite happy with my due date!

clickingtock · 30/08/2012 18:20

Congrats Boo - wonderful news.

So much for the healthy eating - chocolate fridge cake made today "for DS" my arse. At least it had some apricots and walnuts in it.

Engagement ring being renovated to my taste. Wink Feels like a good week.

Whims - take the boxes straight to a car boot sale? Glad to read on FB that you had found the farmers' market tho' - that's a v good sign. How is your bump? Mine still feels quite tidy unless I eat too much bread.

Thanks Fluff - we've found a great venue at a v good price and we can bring our own caterers and booze people, but they still have a bar. Lovely wild woodland through French windows (though room a bit plain/institutional). We are looking at 21 Sep for our date. Progress, progress.

Did someone say they had had a wood-burning stove fitted (Whims?) Any tips?

xxx

whimsicalname · 30/08/2012 18:49

Yep, that was us tock. I would advise moving out! or at least taking as much out of the room as poss and sealing other rooms up as much as poss. We had ours done at the same time as the loft being converted, so I had to sleep in the sooty room that night as there was scaffolding holding my ceiling up. I woke up covered in soot! And even though we'd put sheets over the book shelves, anything left in the room was sooty (actually, I'm unpacking sooty stuff in DC).

However, it was def worth doing. Gives the room a lovely focus and really meant we could cut down on heating for the rest of the house. I think it would especially help if you have a good wood supply. For example, we had all the wood from the old rafters which the builders chopped up for us rather than putting in a skip. Got us through last winter, and probably would have done most of this winter too. I think my husband was sorry not to bring it with us!

We have a meet and greet thing at the boys school this afternoon. I'm petrified! Trying not to let on though...

cakes82 · 30/08/2012 19:51

We have a wood burning stove too, we have a man that sells us a large quantity of wood for £70 that lasts us about one and a bit winters. We were lucky when ours was fitted cause we already had an open fire so it didn't make a huge amount of mess.

HaveALittleFaith · 30/08/2012 20:11

A tip from my husband wealth of knowledge. Go to your local builders merchant for cheap wood. They tend to bag up off cuts and sell them cheap. Same with sawdust. We paid about £5 for a giant bag (like 1m tall) and I'm about 1/5 into it. We've had the hamster 18 months! :)

clickingtock · 31/08/2012 13:15

Ooh - great tips thanks all. We have an open fireplace but hasn't been used at least since I have lived here (9 years tomorrow!) so will prob' be messy. I'm away with my parents and DS late in September so will aim to get the site ready. We will get a handyman in to remove the old fireplace and prepare the space first I think - save on the cost. We spend a lot of time at our local city(ish) farm and they have tonnes of wood for sale and we have a good storage space for it near our basement door, out of the weather. I can't wait - it's a dream come true for me as a stuck-in-the-city country girl. Faith - great tip to get the off-cuts to start the fire too.

Any preferences for type of stove? I've looked at the Bohemian and Morso stoves and guessing we want a 5kw in a city, terraced home?

How are all the bumps - mini and maxi? My little wriggler is v busy - prob not v pleased as I've been clearing the garden and cursing like a fishwife at the roses and berberis. DS is not here so I am letting rip and the air is blue. Now got to get all the buggering cut-off branches out to the garden waste wheelie bin. Whyw owowow owwhy do I give myself these jobs?

RubberBullets · 31/08/2012 13:30

Noooooo don't get rid of your open fire! They are so much nicer than wood burning stoves. I got our open fire put in last year, I wouldn't be without it now

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 31/08/2012 13:45

Ooo tock chocolate fridge cake?. drool? have a slice for me!
21st September this year? Wow, that?s in, like, 3 weeks! Shock You?re a brave, brave woman!
Bump is doing well and wriggling for her daddy, which he loves (she used to stop moving every time he came near!). She?s also giving her mother plenty of tiger stripes on her belly Hmm

Hope your meet n greet goes well whims :)

We have a faux woodburning stove... it's electric because we can't be arsed with the real thing... Blush but it looks fab.

1 week left at work :o

cakes82 · 31/08/2012 19:49

We are in a rented house so just in case we move out (never going to happen by our choice) we had our open fire left so it could be converted back if the stove ever came out. Although in order to put the new flue in there has been some stone work removed. The guy who fitted our stove and flue put boards to cover the old fireplace so there aren't any gaps. We loved the open fireplace its so romantic and homely but with how the stove is set up is more efficient in putting the heat into the room. We have a 7.5kw stove. Any stove over 5kw needs a vent put in the room. 5kw would be sufficient tock so dh tells me.

Princesslovelyboo · 01/09/2012 10:47

Right, come on, hand it over, this is not funny any more, who ever is hiding the cure for morning sickness just give to us!!! This is dc 3 and the first time I have had it :( please tell me what I can do? Spinning last night was awful, had to go throw up half way through, and that is at night :( help me :(:(:(

cakes82 · 01/09/2012 12:10

Have you tried the travel sickness bands? They worked for me and two of the girls I worked with. The one and only time I was actually sick I tried to have a shower without having eaten yet so perhaps there is something about the idea of little meals and often.

Just as a peculiar question I have been told that not having morning sickness means you are having a boy, whereas having morning sickness means a girl. As you are on number 3 do you prove that idea lovelyboo

Princesslovelyboo · 01/09/2012 12:25

Well I have 2 boys, no morning sickness, now I have it so you never know!!!!! I will have a look for the bands.

HaveALittleFaith · 01/09/2012 13:57

I have found a higher protein diet and reduction in refined carbs has reduced my queasiness. Also giving up tea. I really, really miss tea but it makes me Envy

cakes82 · 01/09/2012 16:48

Have put a new bump pic on.

RubberBullets · 01/09/2012 18:29

Boo my morning sickness lasted for 9 weeks and was all day, every day. The only thing that worked for me was greasy food. Fish and chips seemed best. My advice is to simply eat whatever you like as if you are bringing it back up anyway it may as well taste nice and if you eat lots of different things then hopefully you will find something that works.

Cakes I tried to look at your pic but it's a bit small :(

Princesslovelyboo · 01/09/2012 19:25

I got some of those bands and I think they did help. Rubber I will do that!

Feeling a bit better now, it seems to be quite bad mid morning till early evening.
