Glad I'm not the only one having the odd cup of caffeine, hitchin!
Cor sunnymeadows, I'm deeply impressed with the gym and weight loss. I had about a stone or so to lose (a hangover from a 10-month stay in America), but because I came back and started working from home I didn't get my usual cycling commute and somehow jogging didn't really help long term. I'm not too bothered about the excess weight now pregnant, but I'm really keen to be as fit as poss for the labour, thinking that if you've got strong muscles then it might go quicker and/or be less time recovering and/or take less time to get back into some sort of shape. Thus the pre-natal yoga and pilates DVDs which I'll hoping to sample later on today - I shall report back!
And sunny, also, my boobs too settled down a few days ago. Still a tiny bit sore when not wearing a bra but nothing like what they were and I'm having a little panic about that too!
threefortea - hehe, NO!!! but you lot might get a mention in my Acknowledgements for keeping me company during these tricky early days of pregnancy!
good to hear about the vegetarianism, leftwing!! My meat-and-two-veg-is-the-only-meal MIL used to make an effort, cooking a separate veggie pasta dish for me, when we visited, but the last few times she hasn't bothered and I've had to cook something myself or go get a ready meal which is fine but I'd never treat a guest like that. Be interested to see if that changes now I'm carrying her grandchild!
On the meat front, I decided it may be a good idea to eat meat, to make sure of a full complement of nutrients etc, whilst pregnant and so over the past 18 months of so she we've been talking about starting a family once every few months I've tasted the odd flake of meat from DH's plate when we go out to eat of get a takeaway (I cook at home and it's always veggie -- apart from ham sarnies for DH's lunch and when we have guests when I might do sausages!) But it leaves me a bit cold. Like you, leftwing, I just really don't want to eat meat. DH is fine with whatever I choose, but I know he wants kids to eat meat. I would bring them up veggie, but I think a workable compromise is what we do now for him. I think (and sorry if I offend anyone) that as a nation we eat too much meat anyway, so a diet with a small amount of (organic, locally reared, ideally if budgets and meat industry allow!) meat should be more than enough.
Hang on in there, popinda. Thinking of you this morning.
