pipsicles That is reassuring - thank you. I wish my hospital was easier to get a scan it. It was awful when I had my mc. I had bleeding at 9 weeks and called them and was told it could but the start of a miscarriage but they won't see me. They didn't even take any details. I called again shortly after and they were a bit nicer but still wouldn't see me. It was only at 11 weeks they finally agreed to see me and told me the baby had died at 9 weeks. It could all have been over so much earlier if they had seen be when it started, instead it was very traumatic and I ended up in A&E bleeding horribly.
Sorry for being depressing, I'm just so worried.

TinkerBellaFlora · 13/07/2012 15:02

HeeHee, that's awful treatment. It's so frustrating the variance in experience people report and, at a time when you're feeling most needy, the last thing you want is to feel like you'd have to battle to achieve what other's have experienced as standard (not that you don't want other's to get anything other than top quality care but you know what I mean...). Also, don't apologise for being depressing, there is not a single lady on this thread who does not completely identify with the feelings you're expressing.

Juniper1980 · 13/07/2012 16:57

Hi All,

I am due late feb/early march 2013 (from lmp due date 28th feb but my cycle is normally slightly longer so I'm adding a couple of days).

This will be my 3rd pregnancy, although feels like my first as my boys are now 11 and 9 and I've forgotten most of it.

So far I have sore breasts, extreme tiredness, some nausea and a craving for crunchies. I also seem to have a small bump (which I thought I was imagining until my son said he's noticed it too).

Hope I start to remember some stuff and can give some advise.

xx

tiddleypompom · 13/07/2012 17:34

heehee you poor thing. Thinking of you & sending positive energy - I really hope you get the reassurance you need very soon. Just remember there is no more likelihood of you suffering another mc than someone who never did. Odds are with you and all bring just fine.

Welcome to the gang juniper! Two boys - how lovely. I've already confessed I would like another blue one :) I hope they'll make themselves useful & bring you ginger biscuits/let you put your feet up etc.

DH back late this eve. No exchange yet again and am tired as DS has the trots (poor wee thing) so is über clingy. Trying to fight despondency as it is Friday & the weekend awaits. Just need to get the bath/bed routine done and dinner on - then I will sit down and breathe a big fat siiiiggghhhh....

Thank crunchie it's Friday eh? :)

Popinda · 13/07/2012 18:31

Just a quick question, is it normal to have excessive cm?

posypoo · 13/07/2012 18:33

Hi everyone, sorry I've missed so much, I've been keeping an eye on the thread but have had no time to post. We went to Peppa Pig world today - was fab, and I have an exhausted toddler upstairs sleeping in her raincoat and shoes!

Motherof I am so sorry to hear your news, and that you've been going through so much stress. But don't give up on your relationship yet - give it time so you can both digest everything that's happened. Sometimes men can just be insensitive plonkers. I don't say that at all flippantly as I have some idea of what you are going through.

Tinker/Pips I also have no boobage going on!

tiddleypompom · 13/07/2012 18:51

pips yes totally normal :)

Glad you had a lovely day posy. I love peppa pig :o

woody17 · 14/07/2012 08:03

Sorry for this mammoth post but here goes?

I am really sorry to hear your news MotherofOne27 I hope that everything goes ok when you have your scan. I know I can?t say anything to make you feel better. I will be thinking of you this morning.

Thanks pipsicles ? I?m going shopping today so I think I'll have a look at what I can find. I?ve signed up for a pregnancy yoga class that starts in September so looking forward to that. And I am definitely going to try knitting. That?s very exciting to have seen the heartbeat and it sounds like you have a very good GP!

Tedmundo I totally agree about the magic ball!

Tedmundo and Carikube Thanks for the labour advice as well. I keep telling myself that lots of people do it more than once! I read once where someone suggested doing a birth plan like a flow chart ? so if this happens I?d like this but if this happens I?d like that. I might try and do something like that.

Congratulations on the job offer hitchingal ? are you going to take their revised offer? What type of work do you do? I am a secondary school teacher so at the moment, I am counting down the days to the summer holidays. It?s been a really hard year.

Suzydelarosa I haven?t heard of the progesterone supplements. I?ve been taking Santogen omega 3 and mother to be (18 vitamins and minerals inc. folic acid). They came in a pack together ? one has a pink top and the other an orange top. I?ve been trying to eat lots of fruit and am now having breakfast, which I always used to skip. I think the cramps and back pain are all the ligaments and the uterus and everything stretching. But I know it?s hard not to worry.

Congratulations roseandroli and Juniper - It is really nice being able to talk to each other when no one else knows.

Mandasand I think my tummy has started to stick out a bit as well. I?m sure it is the pregnancy.

Tiddleypompom ? my OH has been very excited about the boob growth so far!

Popinda ? my boobs are still a bit sore but nothing like a week ago.

I am glad that all is well ilpm it is very reassuring to see the heartbeat.

HeeHee that sounds awful. It is wrong that getting early scans seems to vary by where you live/hospital etc. When I went to my GP, she said that it is their procedure to immediately refer anyone who has had any bleeding/spotting etc. I really hope that you can get some reassurance soon.

Hope you had fun at peppa pig posy

Everything went fine at my early scan yesterday ? I could see the heartbeat. It was pretty incredible. This is my first pg so I?ve never experienced anything like it before. The people at the EPU were lovely ? when we saw the heartbeat, they were saying ?congratulations?. They did say that there is a bit of old blood so I should expect more brown discharge but not to worry about it. So hopefully now we?ve seen the heartbeat, all will be ok. Thank you everyone for all your kind messages.

As this is my first, I?ve got a lot of questions! Sorry! I am wondering about when I should get measured for a new bra. I?ve definitely got bigger in the last few weeks and I?ve read that the underwire can damage your breasts as they are getting bigger ? don?t know if this is true or not.

Leftwingharpie · 14/07/2012 08:17

Right time for a quick catch up!

Carikube I'm just sitting on the sofa in the stillness of our quiet house, trying to imagine one, let alone two toddlers! What have we done?!!

Tiddley it's a deal! Let's not take on too many jobs though, I need my sleep!

Motherofone I've got my fingers crossed for you this morning. Hope everything is well. Is someone going along with you?

TheCountessOlenska · 14/07/2012 08:18

Just catching up with the thread - so sorry to hear some of you are having a rough time Sad

PosyPoo - oooh I want to go to Peppa Pig World, DD would love it! Am I right in thinking it's in Essex?

I'm 6 weeks plus 2 and nausea has well and truly kicked in - all very familiar from last time! I get mine mildly in the morning then gradually building all day and worse in the evening Confused, only thing that makes me feel better is eating . . . oh and the obsession with smells has begun - I am sat in the front room now and can smell various smells from the kitchen (need to start bleaching everything immediately!) - Going to a festival in a couple of weeks, not really looking forward to it now as I know I will feel sick the whole time (and it will probably rain)

Hitchingal · 14/07/2012 08:38

Thanks Woody & very glad to hear all is OK for you! Must be a massive relief!

I didn't take the role as I just don't think it is fair not to let the new company know I'm pg - and they are much less keen knowing they will need to replace me in 7 months Sad
MotherofOne thinking of you this morning, hope all is OK.

Countess know exactly how you feel about the nausea & smells - blech! Went past Subway last night & it made me feel awful!

Leftwingharpie · 14/07/2012 08:42

Heeheebum this period where everyone from your doctor to the midwife to the pg yoga teacher treats you as if you're not pg at all, just because it's early days is infuriating. They're sort of interested until you say how many weeks you are and then that's it - come back in a month when you're really pg! I'm sorry you're having to wait and worry and that you've had such a bad past experience.

roseandroli welcome to the thread. You might be a bit early for any significant symptoms, but it's worrying isn't it? It must be much worse if you have had a mc before, I hope the time doesn't pass too slowly for you. Any news on the early scan?

mandasand I've got a big tum already but it's probably due to me doubling my calorie intake! I still can't stop eating! I'm going to need even more new bras soon if I'm not careful! It would be great to suddenly find you were a month further along.

popinda and suzy it seems it's very common for symptoms to ebb and flow, there are too many posts on the internet asking that question for it to be a definite bad sign. Why are there so many features of early pg that are also signs of possible mc? Are we specially designed to drive ourselves mad?

jojo getting a maternity bra and wearing it 24-7 worked wonders for my sore boobs. I'm buying some more today, don't worry - and the offending item is currently in the wash!

ilpm, woody and Pipsicles amazing that you've seen your little beans and their heartbeats! It must be so reassuring, particularly as you must have had a fright. Do you all have photos?

Welcome Juniper and congratulations on your BFP. Craving for crunchies great idea!

Is anyone else so glad it's the weekend? I was really flagging last week, every week feels a month long at the moment. By Wednesday I couldn't believe it wasn't Friday!

We now have a tentative date for the house move: 1 September! So only about 6 more weeks till we have our own place at last!

Morning all, happy Saturday! Am feeling perky as DH got up with DS this morning at 5.45 & let me sleep in. When I went downstairs DS was super happy and had enjoyed his playtime with Dad :) He is napping now so I am catching up.

Mw booking in on 24/07. Still waiting for hospital letter re: scan but it won't be till 12 weeks as they do nuchal screening too & they can't be done any earlier. So I shall be hanging on in there waiting to see if little bean is all ok till mid Aug!!

Have snuck on my maternity jeans. Bliss. For any first timers who want comfy but stylish (skinny) jeans I recommend Isabella Oliver 'Bardot'. They are brilliant.

Great news woody, am v happy for you - and pip and iil seeing healthy heartbeats. Hooray!

Off to make b/fast as am starting to feel dicky. Have great weekends everyone :)

I'm struggling to keep up with the speed of the feed :) Apologies if I've missed anything.
Can anyone give me an indication of what the abbreviations mean?? I understand mw, oh and pg... that's about all, is that bad??!
Also Can any of you recommend a decent book for men regarding pregnancy, birth etc... there are so many on Amazon but if there is a specific one which can be recommended my OH would be very grateful!
MotherofOne I'm thinking of you this morning, and slept with everything crossed for you.
I'm amazed at how many of you are having early scans, does this vary by region? I'm currently in Scotland and have been informed I will have a 14 week and a 20 week scan. Though I'll be back in Uni in York for my 20 week scan so it will be interesting to see how the care varies :)
Offer has been accepted on new house, it needs a lot of work but will keep my OH busy whilst I'm back in Uni.
Have a happy and hopefully, vomit free weekend everyone :)

KFFOREVER · 14/07/2012 10:32

Im sooo glad its weekend too. Yesterday I went back to work after my 2 weeks off and boy was it hard. Had to go to a meeting in the morning and was sure I was going to be sick but luckily not. I just wanted to be in my bed. A couple of my colleagues know im pregnant and were all very happy.

My line manager knows but was a bit disappointed she did not ask how I was feeling or arranging a risk management meeting as I work with clients who can be violent just a "congratulations". I suspect my manager is a bit freaked out. One colleage is on mat leave and another on mat leave very soon.

12 weeks to the first scan is way too long. I wish the NHS could arrange for women to listen to the baby's heartbeat at least just to reassure us.

I feel very bad for those have had a scary start to their pregnancy. Its horrible.

Have a good weekend ladies and mini bumps!

Hitchingal · 14/07/2012 10:36

JoJoBella I am reading 'Expecting' by Anna McGraiil & Daphne Metland, it's v good & UK focused unlike a lot of them!

Left wing I know exactly what you mean about long weeks! So hard to keep going!

motherOfOne27 · 14/07/2012 12:05

Hello again xxx

I've just come back from the hospital and my blood levels were at 110 when they tested Thursday (keep getting my days mixed up my heads in bits) which is low anyway,
they then took blood again and it has only gone up to 169ish within that 48 hours.
They said at this stage they wouldn't scan and that i need to go back on Monday morning to take more blood.
Between then and now if i have any bleeding or shoulder tip pain i need to go to a&e as i could still mc or it could be ectopic.
:(
i guess they are saying it doesn't look good either way. im just praying its not ectopic as id break down.
I've decided to take some time off work not sure if im entitled to it but i don't want to mc at work and my head is pretty scrambled. work don't really understand my situation and have even said are you back in on Monday and to have a nice weekend.

ill keep you all posted and fingers crossed my little magic bean will grow and grow in the right place.
Thank u all again xxxxxx

JoJoBella84 · 14/07/2012 14:02

Thanks for that Hitchingal, I'll take a look. It would be good for the OH to understand what is going on and why I'm a little rough in the mornings and low in energy.
He doesn't quite understand how something less than an inch long can make me so tired!! Or why Cheesy Wotsits are the only thing that will settle my tum!
He's not complaining about me shooting up a bra size though :)

tiddleypompom · 14/07/2012 14:34

motherofone thanks for the update - I was wondering how you were getting on. I am sorry they wouldn't give you a scan - that feels rather unfair, to let you go home and worry again all weekend. Poor thing - I shall hope and pray for you that your magic bean will grow. Don't give up faith - but look after yourself x

jojo my poor DH has to wait till the milk comes in before my boobage improves (if anything like last time that is), and then it's hands off as they are required by baby :) My DH didn't really want to read anything (though did google a few times and was always happy to hear the next week's growth, which I read out in the morning on the day I turned a further week more pregnant - it was a happy ritual). However, the mumsnet pregnancy book it definitely worth getting - it is so down to earth as you can imagine, and there is a short section for the Dads at the back, written by Dads.

Thought this link would be a laugh - a chinese gender predictor, according to month of conception and age of mother at the time. It was right for me last time (conceived in Jan at age 32 = boy) and this time predicts a girl! We have a while to wait, but it is a happy distraction - what are you predicted to be carrying??

www.babymed.com/chinese-gender-and-sex-calculator-calendar

JoJoBella84 · 14/07/2012 14:39

tiddleypompom predicted a girl... fingers crossed it really is. With 4 nephews I think our family is due a girl :) My OH is reading anything and everything he can re pregnancy but so much of it is female focused for obvious reasons!

mmmmsleep · 14/07/2012 15:44

Motherofone. Sorry to hear things aren't going well. You are entitled to time off...you self certify for first week and if you need any extra time see gp for certificate. If you tell work you are under the hospital for possible ectopic pregnancy that should cut you some slack. At those levels even if it was ectopic would normally have tablet treatment rather than op. They probably didn't scan because often wouldn't see anything at those levels of hcg....not am exact science though. What a rough time you're having i'm so sorry this is happening to you. Hope you have a rl hug nearby. X

Maclairey · 14/07/2012 15:46

Hi can I join you all please...

I got my BFP on 6th July and I will be 5 weeks tomorrow. Edd is 17 March and this is our first.

So far I have had some period type cramps which take my breath away, some lower back pain and nausea. The symptoms come and go but when they come on its painful and makes me wanna throw up. I was woken 3 times last night. Also feeling very tired and quite spaced out most of the time.

Trying to psyche myself up for my friends hen night tonight, really don't want to go incase I get one my episodes.

I went to the docs last week who basically told me that it was very early days and to just sit tight. Helpful.

Anyway from what I can gather, the symptoms are relatively normal so I just have to suck it up. Hopefully it will pass. Not had painful or bigger boobs yet.

Been trying to persuade DH that we should have an early scan at 8 weeks (because I am impatient) but he is not having any of it sadly. He keeps telling me to stop worrying about something going wrong but it's so hard not to.

We haven't told our parents yet.

Anyway that's me, hope I can keep up with you all.
