You will be ok, but don't rush it. Give yourself time to come to terms with what's happened and be kind to yourself. I had a MC before I had my DS (I was about 6 weeks along) and I sort of dismissed it. No one knew about it apart from DH so I just carried on a pretended nothing was wrong. Then in the middle of yoga I burst out crying and I just couldn't stop. Apart from anything the hormones are terrible and on top of that you have to deal with the sadness and disappointment. Take it easy on yourself.

Do you have some time off work?

AuroraOrtiz · 13/08/2012 15:56

I'm taking tomorrow off. I'll see how it goes.

CailinDana · 13/08/2012 16:00

Good idea. Don't be afraid to take more time off if you need it. There is also a MC topic here if you feel like posting on it, although I'm sure no one would mind if you carried on posting here.

AuroraOrtiz · 13/08/2012 16:03

Thanks cailin, I'll have a look.

WillSantaBringaGoldMedal · 13/08/2012 19:40

I'm out too. Started spotting on Friday and scan confirmed no viable pregnancy.

Good luck to everyone else :)

Hope everyone else feeling ok....

zanywany · 15/08/2012 11:28

HI everyone, sorry not been on here for ages. Sorry to hear about your sad news Aurora and Santa

I have my scan on friday and I am really nervous. Am so worried they will say there is nothing there.

Hi Henny, I am in a silular position to you, I am 38 and have a DS aged 11 and DD who is 9. Feel so much more tired this time around.

Struggling to find clothes that fit but I am waiting for the all clear after my scan before I branch out into maternity clothes

Imogencodpiece · 15/08/2012 15:07

Had a wonderful scan this morning Smile got to see him bumbling around and having a wriggle!
He's a little less cooked than I thought measurements say 12+5 so original due date of 18th feb has been pushed to 23rd. not much difference though and I have my picture Zanywany im sure everything will be absolutely fine, I thought they would tell me theres nothing there and its all in my head and call the men in white coats to take me away! You will feel much better after friday Im sure Smile i know i do!

Want2bSupermum · 15/08/2012 19:08

Aurora and Santa - I hope you are doing alright.

I had my scan yesterday and the doctor drilled me about preclampsia. He told me there is a good chance I will get it again so I am considered higher risk until baby arrives. I saw the dietician yesterday as well. I get the joyful task of eating lots of watermelon and cucumber.

I was very happy to have my due date moved up to Feb 17th. I still don't expect to go until March but very happy to be 13wks instead of 12!

zanywany · 16/08/2012 10:02

Thanks Omogen, its my third time so you would have thought I was less worried not more worried this time around. Tried my friends doppler machine yesterday but not too worried I am really as I am onky 12 weeks so knew it would be hard to hear anything

Imogencodpiece · 18/08/2012 09:40

they say not to use those things until your well into your third trimester zany I would stay away from anything like that whilst your so worried cause you will just make it worse!

CalamityJ · 18/08/2012 20:13

Had dating scan on Monday and I'm due 16th February Grin. Bad news is both my in laws (Tenerife) and my parents (Antarctica - yes Antarctica) are on holiday during the first 2 weeks of February. On a positive note I bought my first maternity clothes today! We're off to Oz in September (for 3 weeks over the 20 weeks scan - ooops Blush ) so I need some summery maternity clothes. Got 2 pairs of shorts, 1 pair of cropped trousers, 1 top and 1 dress all for £32.50! Gotta love maternity sales Grin. H&M and Mothercare sales were surprisingly good which made me very happy. Telling work on Monday which will be good so I can start slowing down. Cooking a baby is so tiring! And I'll need to keep the little one in till at least 17th so my parents can get back from Antarctica!

LauraPalmer · 20/08/2012 17:04

Hi everyone, we're just back from our holiday and had 16 wk mw appointment today (@ 15+2). All seems to be going well and it was wonderful to hear the little grublet's heartbeat. (I even recorded it on my phone Blush)

Heva I just found your message - sorry for my lack of communication but we had very little mobile service while we were out of the country. I'm so glad all went well with DSD - what a lovely response she had!

Hope all is ticking along happily with everyone. By the next thread we should all be in the 2nd trimester...

Bring it on

LauraPalmer · 20/08/2012 17:07

zany I couldn't hear anything at 12 wks either after begging the mw to use the doppler on me so try not to worry too much!

Want2bSupermum · 20/08/2012 19:12

Calamity We live 2500 miles from our closest family member. I have a godmother who lives up in Toronto but she will be working in Feb and can't take time off (teacher). DH has 5 days of vacation in total and doesn't get paternity leave. If DH's parents are not able to make it out, which is possible as my MIL hasn't been well, then our friends have offered to step in and help out.

Very happy to have reached 14 weeks yesterday. I am not a far of the 1st trimester....

WitchityBroom · 20/08/2012 22:58

Hi everyone. Please can I join? I've been lurking for ages, worrying about jinxing it, but all seems to be going well so I'd like to be in the gang now.
I'm due on Feb 14th. Smile

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 20/08/2012 22:59

Hi witchity! Valentines day!!

StrangelyCalm · 21/08/2012 13:23

Hi everyone - how are we doing? I'm having a bit of a "down" day today - but I'm sure it will pass. Actually feel physically great at 16 +1. Heard heartbeat at mw apt last week, which was reassuring.

My Mum is over visiting for a couple of months (lives abroad - Africa), and is talking about when she should return for her next visit. What is everyone's thoughts on family being around for the birth / straight after? I'm not sure if having longish term overnight visitors will be a welcome thing, or maybe it will actually be a help? Mum's lovely and we all get on really well (good relationship with her and DH thankfully), but I wonder will we want to figure things out on our own or want the help?

What do you reckon?

Want2bSupermum · 21/08/2012 13:57

WitchityBroom Welcome and how cool to have your due date on V-Day!

SC It all depends on the size of your home and the state of your relationship with the family members that are visiting.

With DD we didn't want family around because my mother is a PITA and my MIL was so excited about getting a grandchild that I knew she wouldn't be able to stop herself from holding DD all the time. My godmother came down and stayed with us for a week and it was the perfect length of time. She was great because she did the laundry, cooking, cleaning and allowed me to look after the baby. This is the type of support you need. My mother visited when DD was 3 months old and it was a disaster. It was like having a 2nd child.

If staying longer than 5 days I do insist on guests having their own room. We are lucky that we have extra bedrooms, a huge fridge and a big enough dining table.

WitchityBroom · 21/08/2012 14:20

Yeah, the midwife already suggested Valentine if it's a boy or Rose if it's a girl, but... errrr... maybe not. Grin

Would it be rude to ask your mum to stay in a hotel nearby if you don't have much room, SC? My SIL's mum, who lives at the opposite end of the country, stayed at my MIL's house when their baby was born so she wouldn't be all up in their faces all the time. Probably it depends on your relationship as I think my SIL's relationship with her mum is a bit strained so having her at their house would have been hard.

InchyInchy · 21/08/2012 18:12

Hello all,

I just booked a sexing scan in three weeks (be around 19 weeks then) - So excited to be approaching the time when I can find out if it's a wee boy or girl! Makes it seem all the more real.
