Hi everyone, as we were close to the 1000 message limit i thought i should start a new thread so we could link this one (and we don't all end up wandering in cyberspace for a few days again Grin)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Clarella apologies if I'm late to the party, but I just read on another thread that you're signed off now until 20 weeks....

How are you finding it now? I'm still off too - I've found that after the first few weeks I hardly ever think about school now. My routine has kind of closed over the gap and its like being on permanent summer holidays.

I'm actually feeling quite lucky as DP works all hours and I'd hardly be seeing him if I was still working.

What still makes me quite Angry is that school never, at any point got in touch with me. I went in on the first morning to explain the situation, they sent me home and said "we'll be in touch". Never heard from them again. They've just forgotten me! Its now been 7 weeks and I've given up any hope of them contacting me. All I will do now is get straight on the blower if they stop paying me....

CakeBump · 23/06/2012 11:10

knottyhair I now want tortilla chips Envy

Queenofsiburbia · 23/06/2012 12:08

Pidj I love your football / pregnancy joke!! who would have thought such a thing possible?! Made DH smile too (then look a little worried about thought of bladders, he's hopelessly squeamish, and passed out at his own blood test. Will be a great support in labour Hmm).

I am a windy miller today too! Blush feel like my body taken over by something determined to embarrass me one way or another.

As I've gone off making cakes because we're not allowed to eat the mixture today I will mostly be making apricot jam and elderflower cordial. Instead of doing boring housework.
Anyone managed to train a cocker spaniel to Hoover? Thinking it would be more useful than 'heel'.

CakeBump · 23/06/2012 12:19

Argh Queen my cocker is crap at heel!! Always has been....

He's good at "wait" and "stay" and "sit" and "please escape out of the house and go running all over the village terrorising people" :)

Queenofsiburbia · 23/06/2012 13:18

cake my cocker good at heel but that seems to have pushed 'sit' and 'here' out of his small waggy brain.

He's also good at marching into MILs kitchen and cocking his leg, just their house though, very strange maybe he's reading my mind

Clarella · 23/06/2012 13:52

DH is in the queue for a mandatory hot dog at IKEA.

cod how did the bmx go down?!

Similar experience Cakebump, they've really forgotten about me! Does it get you down? I didn't even get a copy of next years class list, have emailed to ask plus wrote a list of jobs i thought I could get on with but needed to check due to some being dependant on the class (ie get ahead with their y6 statement review reports which will have to be done in Oct to help decide next school. Generally 6000 words each!) Luckily a friend fed me who I've got, same kids so can re jig last reports but the class list is always seen as a big political fuss (staffing wise) so am surprised no contact. Mind you they know I'm never bothered who I get!

Yep its a bit like a summer holiday now, and a blessing in disguise, despite the major initial anxiety glad was off while thyroid bad. I think I would have had to have time off for that. That's ok ish now so starting to enjoy it despite all the building work. Going to be fun going back in Sept for 2 months after only working 4 weeks of the pregnancy!

Oh how I miss baking! That would have been a major therapy but no kitchen still :(. (hence ikea) Quite an expert at microwave cooking now! I do think I'm feeling faint flutters though wind definately trumps it!

Clarella · 23/06/2012 13:53

I have begun to beg neighbours for their dogs for walks!

MyDaydream · 23/06/2012 14:21

I think I felt my first movement yesterday. Three little flutters in a row that felt totally different to anything else going on in there. Not expecting it regularly, baby must have been in the right place but made me smile lots.

CakeBump · 23/06/2012 14:43

Queen that's so weird mine NEVER wets except at MIL's, where he routinely cocks his leg on the sofa Blush

Its a sort of "fuck you" gesture, although MIL is lovely and stuffs him with treats every time he looks at her!

Clarella you can take mine out any time, although you'd have to fly to Germany... :) The school thing pisses me off a lot actually - just not having the common courtesy to acknowledge my existence... Apparently the woman who is supposed to be dealing with me is off on long term sick (although officially I don't know this Hmm ) and no-one is dealing with her stuff while she's away.

I'm worried they're going to stop paying me next month, but if that doesn't happen I don't plan to get in contact again until November. It'll be a "remember me? Well I'm just letting you know I now regard myself as on maternity leave" phonecall :)

They are bloody crap

Bubbless · 23/06/2012 16:04

i also work within the school system, in the kitchen in a senior school, so also feeling like im on a seriously extended summer hols!

me and dp are also very worried about money, and are trying to save up as much as we can now (which is very hard when on sick pay! e.g.- not even enough to cover 'my' half of the rent!) so we have enough when bump arrives!
my company dont even bother replying to my texts anymore, as the doc will only sign me off for a week at a time with hyperemesis ¬¬

im currently craving fruit so i couldnt be happier however, very frequent trips to the loo

anyone starting to decide what they want to be buying?!?!

(how do i upload my pic to my profile?!)

Bubbless · 23/06/2012 16:21

worked out how to upload my pics, anyone wish to apply the nub theory?
me and my DP both think (using no method other than guess work!) its a boy..... please have a look for me! :D

hope everyones having a lovley sick free saturday!

and whoevers giving DC a bike today (on phone, sorry!) hope they love it!!

Clarella · 23/06/2012 16:59

Lovely pictures bubbless - how far were you when they were taken?

Fingers crossed they don't cakebump - im determined to pop back the last week. I could have easily put my head in the sand though.

If we had no building work I would have soooo got a dog, this would have been a perfect time to settle it in!

Bubbless · 23/06/2012 17:06

13+1, on friday! was so so so worried (first DC/ first pregnancy/ first proper scan!) that i cried when i saw DC jumping around in there.. whoops!

my DP wants a dog, but id always be worried about dog around the baby? are they.. safe?!

pmgkt · 23/06/2012 17:26

dont do it bubbless - too much stress and putting extra pressure on yourself. trust me, its hard and my 2 little dogs were trained before ds1 came along. maybe wait until your little one is old enough to enjoy it to, and then see if you really want the time and energy commitment.

Bubbless · 23/06/2012 17:52

this is very true, plus im having a horrific pregnancy. i can barely deal with my DP atm.. dog may to too much!
thank you pmgkt!!

PurplePidjin · 23/06/2012 17:59

Dp and I have decided we'll get a job when the dc are old enough to walk it properly, and if we're living in a house with a garden - currently in a flat

I haven't started buying but i've finished the first cardi and uploaded a pic if anyone's interested

CakeBump · 23/06/2012 18:06

My dog is good around children luckily, but DP's isn't and has already gone to live with his parents.

I definitely wouldn't like to have a puppy and a baby at the same time. All I remember the first couple of months is crawling round on the floor mopping up puddles - no fun!!

I'd love another when we've got more space, but I think I'll wait until DC is old enough for it to be a birthday present (although I'll do all the main looking after it, I'm sure).

CakeBump · 23/06/2012 18:07

Oh and I haven't really started buying yet, but a neighbour has donated a load of stuff already. I've washed all the little bibs and babygros this weekend and put them away, and we've also got an old maxi cosi (think we'll use it as a spare), a bouncy chair and a few toys and bits.

Clarella · 23/06/2012 18:14

Tbh is sensible to have kids first then dog. I just come from a mega doggy family :) I do worry choosing a dog these days though, its quite a commitment and you do need to meet the mum if a puppy. We had 3 sheltie litters from our 2 different dogs, keeping one from each and the way temperaments were inherited were amazing. And then there's insurance etc - my aunts new whippet just caught meningitis poor thing. Btw rats make amazing pets, like mini dogs, mine knew her name and used to perch on my shoulder! She used to ride on the dogs backs but would go rigid at the whiff of a cat.

Clarella · 23/06/2012 18:14

Nope not buying for ages.

ISpyPlumPie · 23/06/2012 18:41

Not bought anything yet. I'm going to be quite strict this time, as most big things (pram, cot etc) can be re-used from DS. We've also got a ridiculous amount of clothes, and all the first- size stuff is neutral as we did't find out the sex. It's hardly worn either given that DS was 9lb 2oz, but given the mw said I'll probably have another "crumper" it might not get much of an airing this time either Grin.

Obv want this DC to have some of their own new stuff, and starting to feel a bit guilty as I'm sure I'd bought DS's first strechsuits and soft toy by now. Completely ridiculous as it's not as if they'll ever know, but want to be fair from the outset so might start shopping v soon!

CODwidow · 23/06/2012 19:42

Thank you everyone, ds had a great day! Grin loved his bike and various moshi monster things. But after a party for a bunch of 6 yr olds, then their tennis lesson, car hunting and a big birthday tea and cake I'm totally exhausted!

I was given a Moses basket stand recently and have bought just one pack of vests but I think I'll be waiting mostly for my 20 week scan as we're finding out the sex so as long as all goes well at that I'll also know what colours to buy Grin

Looking forward to my mw appt on tues as suddenly had a mini panic earlier that something may have happened so irrational and crazy Blush

itsMYNutella · 23/06/2012 20:00

Hello how is everyone getting on?!

Back from my hols, off to the dr on Monday. We rang the Dr earlier in the week to get our test results, they rang us back and of course we kept missing each other.

So the Dr wants to see us on Monday but we were told not to worry.... Argghhhh Confused hate it when people say that!!!

itsMYNutella · 23/06/2012 20:02

Cod great to hear the DS enjoyed his birthday! I remember getting a bike one year for Christmas, I think it is one of those presents you always remember :)

Mummycox · 23/06/2012 20:49

Want to wait until at least 20 weeks to buy anything. Am making wish lists and
Handmedown lists though. Heard today that, depending on make, you should place your pram order about 12 weeks before you need it. Gah.
