Thanks for the tip on the shower. Our bathroom comes off the kitchen so not one Of the nicest/warmest rooms but may get DP to come in and hold her while I have a shower in the morning. Just going to bed now and bubs isn't snuffling/snorting for the first time all day. We have her Moses basket on a tilt already but I did put the olbas oil muslin over the head of the basket so she can breath some of the vapours in. Seems to have worked. Poor thing has literally been catching her breath all day Sad Let's hope it drains in the night and she feels better tomorrow. I've not had any smiles from her today and I miss them!

We're going to move her basket into the nursery at the weekend, then have a go with her in the cot. She'll have out grown the basket in about 3-4 weeks I'd say so need to get her used to her real bed. Any tips on that transition? Or should we keep it the same as her basket, ie; on a tilt, blankets rolled in sausages around her and a soft blanket she lays on?

Anyhoooo, night night. Hope there's lots of sleep in store for everyone tonight x

foolserrand · 31/07/2012 23:01

Evening all! I'm far too tired to have a proper catch up I'm afraid. So many great nights.... I knew it was too good to be true! Blush

Just quickly wanted to add, I believe you can put vicks on the soles of their feet. Supposed to help with stuffy noses. No age limit on that... Apparently!

Oh, and dh has many redeeming features just don't tell him I said that Wink

AnchorBun · 31/07/2012 23:03

Oh Davina I'm not sure I'd be doing it now if it weren't for the fact that she's waking so much during the night because she's lost them! We're keeping her in her bedside crib for a few more nights until she's used to not having a dummy - it felt like too much change for her all at once any excuse for more snuggles.

Mamma setting up the cot as similar as possible to her basket is a good idea. We've put a muslin cloth and little teddy in Lilly's crib with her, in the (possibly vain) hope that them moving with her will ease the transition. I've heard of others putting the basket in the cot for a few nights so their babies can get used to the new surroundings a bit.
Hope V's feeling better soon, it's so horrible seeing them ill Sad

Yes Ghost, DS was always really fast physically (climbing and sitting up early) but his speech, smiles and laughs were quite late. Lilly's the opposite, she was smiling, laughing, 'chatting', raspberry blowing etc really early. Odd little buggers Grin

Xposts Fools hope you have a better night, there must be something in the air!

Oh yes, I've heard about Vicks on feet! Funny one that. Smile

Urgh Lilly Lilly Lilly Sad she seems fine without the dummy now, it's just back to the old kicking and flailing like a ninja all night!

On a brighter note, I've lost 3lbs in less than two weeks by eating steak and other yummy things!

Keeping things the same as much as possible, should help with the transition Mamma We found that doing it gradually helped us. So we tried first with day time naps only, then as she got used to that, we tried overnight. The first time was too soon, so we left it a week, then tried again. And not looked back since Grin

We had an ok night but yet again, during Lauren's long sleep (5 hours), DS the little bugger decided he'd wake me up twice Angry But he's at Grans tonight, so at least if Lauren has a long sleep tonight, I'll hopefully sleep all the way through it too. She's running a bit warm this morning, I think after her jabs Sad It's not a fever exactly but a couple of degrees above her normal temperature. So she's had some paracetamol and back to bed for her, and me. Luckily we have no plans for today, other than I'd like to get out for a long walk again. Just need to decide where to go Smile Ok, going to try get a bit more sleep now Grin

Davinaaddict · 01/08/2012 08:23

Cross posts Bun Glad the dummy has gone successfully Smile Sorry about the ninja-ness Sad

EpicOde · 01/08/2012 09:01

Morning all!

Meet up was great - was lovely to meet fools and mamma in person! (and their oh so cute daughters!)

Well my previously super-fussy, will-only-sleep-on-mummy son is currently spark out in his (too small) bednest! His cold seems to be making a comeback this morning - he wouldn't feed and was just grumping on me constantly, so we went for a wander around the house (makes it sound like a mansion, instead of the small ex council semi it is!). We stopped in the bedroom to put some fresh karvol on a hanky (I tie it to my bra/top so it is near, but not on Odie) popped him down in the bednest so my hands would be free and he lay there cooing and smiling! Ten minutes later and he's fast asleep! Incredible! So I'm sat up here, with the lights turned off so hopefully he'll sleep longer, with my laptop trying to resist falling asleep in bed myself!!

We're off up to Surrey for the 3rd attempt at the oncology appt this afternoon - not sure when i'm going to drive up though - appt is late afternoon, but that's a lousy time to be driving with Odie. Might go up earlier, but hang out in town rather than heading to my MiLs... [bad daughter in law emoticon!]

mamma when Odie is really snotty/congested we have a bath together - I lie him so he's mostly in the water, just his head resting on me, so he's really near the water and gets lots of steam rising into his nose. Seems to really help - particularly if we do it right before bed. We also hang a karvol covered hanky up by the bed to help keep him clear. Doesn't work 100% but is a definite improvement on just saline spraying his nose!

aaand he's awake! that was almost an hour!! Grin

foolserrand · 01/08/2012 10:27

Morning all Grin!

It really was great finally meeting some of you on Monday! Fyfe, Violet and Odie are so lovely. Thanks for being so nice to Jack, he was telling daddy all about the babies, especially giving Fyfe hiccups by making him laugh. He was 'sad' your ds couldn't come, Bun, next time?

Am amazed by all these teeth. 4 at once is amazing, well done J! Poor Fliss is suffering teething at the moment. All the drool [munch's scream emoticon]! Grin

Am very jealous of your diet, ghost. Not jealous to give up my carbs though! love the sound of the porridge fingers and nuggets. Shall be getting my annabel karmel book out and see of there are any decent recipes in there. Probably not though!

Bun, well done to Lilly sitting all by herself. How is ds getting on at night now? We have had a few accidents. Mothercare do a waterproof terry cloth sheet to protect the mattress. It doesn't stop the night time work, but does prevent the mattress stinking the room out.

McKayz and Mamma, how are the colds doing now? Sorry Odie's has returned, Epic. Well done to him for sleeping in his bed nest though! Good luck for this afternoon. Will be thinking of you.

Well, we met up with my friend's friend yesterday. She has a ds who is a few weeks older than Fliss. I left Jack with my mum and we took the babies for a walk along a canal. It was very nice and I finally got to try out my waterproof poncho Grin.

Today, we are meeting one of my friends for lunch then ds's godfather is coming over to eat all my food spend some quality time with us.

We seem to have done it all wrong with the crib next to me/cot in her own room transfer Blush. I just dumped her in there a few nights ago. Blush She does like her cot though, and has spent a bit of play time in there while I dress ds, pick her clothes etc. Think she's just a bit too lazy to be bothered, the baby does like her sleep. Smile

Hope everyone has a lovely day! Oh, and hi to ellie if she's still around! Grin

MammaInTheMaking · 01/08/2012 10:32

Well done Odie and Lauren on the sleeping Smile I hope you get a long stretch tonight davina. Thanks for the cot transition tips. At the mo when Violet naps in the day I just place her on a pillow on the sofa. She only sleeps in the basket at night. Think we'll try the basket in the cot to begin with and go from there. Also thanks for the snot clearing tips! We have her basket on a tilt anyway, it must have helped last night along with the olbas oil muslin I draped near her head. She could actually breath Smile she slept from 9:30-3:30 too so only an hour short of her (now regular) 7 hours!

Our car has a new engine and is ready for collection so I'm off to get it today. Yay!!

bun hopefully once Lilly is more used to sleeping without the dummy she'll calm down with the flailing....

Hmmm, I'm hungry and there's Ben & Jerry's ice cream in the freezer.........

McKayz · 01/08/2012 10:33

Morning,

I had a real disaster this morning/last night. DD decided to bless us with a night in her basket. With no baby in the bed we decided to resume relations for the first time since she arrived.

The ruddy condom broke!!! I had my 6 week check this morning and decided to get the morning after pill just to be on the safe side. So I can finally relax.

AnchorBun · 01/08/2012 10:59

Aw sorry Jack! Oliver was sad too. Really hope we can make the next one!

DS has had a couple of accidents in the night too. We have a couple of similar mattress protectors for the cotbed that I've put under his normal sheet, heading into town (with Epic, yay!) tomorrow to get some single bed ones so I'll look in Mothercare, thanks! Smile

That's not wrong at all! That's what we did with DS going into his cotbed, he's so laid back we could get away with it. Lilly's a bit more, ahem, fussy at the moment. Grin

Have a good day!

Wow, lucky I refreshed before posting!

McKayz! Not what you want to happen, how stressful! Glad you're ok now Smile Yay for having the opportunity though! Wink

Mamma glad you had a better night last night. And woo for the car!
Ninja Lilly was around before we got rid of the dummies, then went away to be replaced by Argh-where's-my-dummy-gone Lilly for two nights and has now reverted back to Ninja Lilly Hmm Grin

Phew, that took me ages to catch up!
Love the photos bun, Lilly looks amazing sitting up all by herself, clever little thing! Smile
Confused mckayz good plan! That would be a little soon!
fools jack is gorgeous! Fyfe loved him! Smile
Glad Violet can breathe a bit better again mamma!
Hooray for Odie sleeping in the bednest epic!
Hope Lauren is okay davina?
Fyfe is 5 months old today! Smile we went to the clinic to get him weighed today, all is well, he has stayed on the 50th centile for weight so is 16lb 13oz now and they are very happy with him. Grin

foolserrand · 01/08/2012 15:16

Anyone know where the Krankies live? I want to go shoot them in the head with live squid. Jack has insisted on playing their cd all week. We have been in the car a lot. My ears are bleeding. Angry

MammaInTheMaking · 01/08/2012 17:59

What gorgeous piccies bun. Your babies are so adorable and really look alike too. Lilly's so cute in the pic with all the teddies round her.

Happy 5 months Fyfe! By the way, DP really like's Fyfe's name trouble Smile

What are the Krankies fools? They sound annoying. And shooting them with live squid....I can only imagine.....!

Poor V has really struggled with her sleeping today. She's wanted to sleep and I've managed to get her off very easily, but she keeps waking herself with the snot. She's napping on me at the moment. Normally I'd move her onto a pillow but I just want her to have a proper sleep so will leave her be. The olbas oil Muslin is lurking near her face so hope it's working some. Decided I'm going to start getting her to nap upstairs in her room. At the mo all her gifts and toys etc are in her cot. Got a blanket box being delivered tomorrow so going to move everything into there and then get her cot all nice for her. Am sure the traffic noise and telly and me plodding about downstairs doesn't make for very restful napping. That's my plan anyway. Won't put too much pressure on us though while she's still snotty.

Yay for Team GB getting some golds today Grin

Oh yeh, got the car back today too. That fiasco is over Smile

TroubleAndFyfe · 01/08/2012 18:13

That sounds like a good plan mamma!
Now...

AIBU?

Usually lovely DH usually gets home at 5 - providing he leaves on time in the morning, I usually don't know what time he leaves as am asleep. At some point in the day he contacts me or I contact him and he tells me what time he expects to be home, this way I can plan dinner, know when I'll be getting a break etc.
Today I called him and asked when he'd be home, he snapped at me about being back at 5.30. Once home I asked why and he got all arsey with me, saying I should assume he'll be home at 6 and anything else is a bonus as he does not want to be asked when he'll be home.
I'm really upset and think he's being an arsehole AIBU? Please be honest (but gentle)! Smile

TroubleAndFyfe · 01/08/2012 19:17

As you are all busy I have decided for myself that I ANBU!
I have told him that unless he changes his mind I will sever all contact with him during the day. No photos, no news re Fyfe, nothing. He said it seemed a bit spiteful, I told him good and suggested he now knows how I feel. We are now both In a sad/quiet mood but hopefully the message will get through!

McKayz · 01/08/2012 19:23

YANBU!!

If it happens on a regular basis of you contacting each other to find out when he'll be home then what is the problem?

foolserrand · 01/08/2012 20:09

UADNBU! If he is due back home at 5 when he leaves on time, you should expect him back at 5. The onus is then on him to get himself to work when he should or let you know. But I am a bolshy mare Grin

Love the photos Bun and sorry Violet is still poorly, Mamma. Have you considered an oil burner with olbas oil in it?

TroubleAndFyfe · 01/08/2012 21:35

Thanks guys. The mood has improved so I'll see what happens tomorrow!

TroubleAndFyfe · 02/08/2012 16:28

Well I haven't heard anything so that didn't work as well as I hoped. I'm still really cross about it as feel it's totally disrespectful! I ought to point out that he is terrible at keeping in contact, rarely replies to texts etc. so I had been making all the effort sending him pictures of Fyfe and letting him know when Fyfe did something new. I told him yesterday that communication is a two way thing and if he can't even manage to let me know when he'll be home then I shan't bother to communicate with him either. Clearly he's being stubborn about it, I'll just have to stick it out! Hmm
I'm MNing from a lovely bath that I've been in for an hour whilst Fyfe naps. Every other day since he's been doing this magical napping I have tidied/cooked/cleaned/gardened but as DH is being a wanker bit off I decided to have some me time instead.

MammaInTheMaking · 02/08/2012 17:39

I'd do exactly the same trouble. It is disrespectful. He's just being stubborn and moody. My DP always calls when he leaves the office. Doesn't mean I'll be able to do anything between him leaving and getting home but at least I know how much longer he'll be.

Been to lidl with my neighbour today. We're having a "meet violet BBQ" on Saturday Smile

Oh, V's breathing a lot better today. Hopefully she's really on the mend now....

TroubleAndFyfe · 02/08/2012 18:15

Great news re Violet. The BBQ sounds like a lovely idea! Smile

MammaInTheMaking · 03/08/2012 03:33

On the night feed. She's just slept 5.5 hours in her own room!! Moses basket is in her room and not on a tilt. Tomorrow the Moses basket will go in the cot. I also got her to have her 2 naps in her room yesterday rather than on a pillow on the sofa. Smile
