Morning. Can't sleep in agh! Re baths, my dsis is either giving me hers or we may get that mamas and papas one too as it looks good.
Definitely go with the femfresh Vino, it's a lifesaver.
Ooh, me too with no leg hair Tash! My sister had a theory that no leghair = girl as that was one odd sign that her 2nd pregnancy was different to her 1st (a boy). Not so with me! But it is odd!

Re names, think at the mo we've agreed on Edward James my italian surname as a middle name too, then normal surname. But could yet change!
Off to see the ballgowns exhibition later at v and a then cupcakes and coffee at hummingbird. Love being back in London! Have a nice day everyone x

MrsMigginslovespies · 15/06/2012 07:30

Ps, has anyone's bump bought a father's day card/pressie for Sunday?!

hamncheese · 15/06/2012 08:05

Poor wee grumpy minipop! Glad to hear he is getting a bit of podge on him :)

I can't wait to have the baby. I'm getting less and less interested in things that aren't in relation to baby preps... will be so good to have finished this PhD chapter and be able to put that behind me for a few months! I can only imagine the waiting will be harder without DH there loupee but hopefully it won't seem too long!

I've just got the baby support thing for the regular bath but no actual baby bath... was hoping to have a bath with the baby that way, will that work?? Confused

Good to hear things are back to normal with your mum susie :) I'll keep in mind that about blood sugar and the blurred vision. See what MW says this morning!

My Bump has bought DH a card and present. The present is a baby grow and hat he had liked but didn't get for the little one. My mum was all superstitious about bump getting a card for him but whatever, he IS a father already, even if baby isn't totally cooked yet!

Had another stupid panic last night that caused not much sleep. This time about how the cats and baby will get along. Plan was to have moved and have them as outdoor cats when baby came so they wouldn't be all up in baby's space all the time but probably won't move in time now so that's out. We can't let them out here it's too busy with roads etc. Made the "cat nursery" but I already hate it as it's all cluttered and for some reason gets all foosty and stale smelling with them all in it all night which never happened before when they lounged in the kitchen. Going to move them back. The back room now is just a big pile of boxes though and DH was saying he hates being in there and it bugs me too it's so imposing and messy and unuseable :( Going to have to do something about it, totally getting me down. BLAH.

Oh well MW at 11 and then making cake for my DB's birthday tomorrow... lemon merignue cake of cupcakes!

Hope you all have a brilliant friday

susiegrapevine · 15/06/2012 08:08

Morning everyone yeah baby baths are useful. Means you can bath baby anywhere plus we could never bath baby in our bath as is roll top so a lot deeper than a normal bath and hard lean into. When my ds got bigger dh used to go in the bath with him. Good daddy son time when he was at work all week.

Arrg upstairs's toddler woke me up last night. Very annoying I thought it was ds and the monitor was not on to begin with!

tash I have had very sparse leg hair with both my pregnancies and they are both boys so not sure that theory always works!

susiegrapevine · 15/06/2012 08:25

Oh yeah fathers day. Arrg have to go out and get card from ds at least! And a little something, oh yeah we have jacob for a name so far don't like anything else still need a middle name. Sorry keep forgetting to add things before I post.

NeedlesCuties · 15/06/2012 08:36

Morning!

It is super stormy here in Belfast! Was blowing a gale and raining all night. Meant to be going to a BBQ later, but I'm assuming (and hoping) they bring the food and us all indoors!

rumours sorry to hear about your loss.

ham try to not fret too much about your cats. When DS came along our cat sort of just found new places to hide, places far far away from him and his crying Grin She got even better at hiding once he started to be able to move Wink Now DS is 2.4 years old he loves the cat, calls her name and blows her kisses... she still is frosty towards him, but just ignores him or stays out of the room when he's present. She's never hurt him or tried to.

ishop yes have picked names :) Have Joel Ezra picked for a boy, and for a girl we've picked Lydia Elizabeth. I'm personally not 100% about Elizabeth as a middle name with Lydia as they don't flow well together. But Elizabeth is a family name on both sides and my mum 'hinted' we should use it.

Miggins bump hasn't got DH a Father's Day card, but I signed from him/her in the card that DS is making for him. Well, he isn't really making the card, but he's sticking bits of stickers and glitter to a sheet and drawing on it with crayon. DH will love it as he likes homemade things.

Right, sorry for the epic post! Will go now, as I'm tying this while trying to eat a bowl of cereal and drink a mug of tea!

(30 weeks today!)

panpipe · 15/06/2012 09:13

Argh I typed a long message last night but it didn't post!

6 weeks without DH must be horrible Loupee. Mine has been away Mon-Fri for the last few weeks and will be til the end of June, but we are on holiday next week so it'll be nice to spend some time together. Can your DH get away easily if baby decided to come early?

I picked up a baby bath for the princely sum of £2 at a nearly new sale Grin. People have recommended the bath supports too but I'm not sure I fancy filling our bath just for the baby.

I'm so tired and achy this morning! Had another concert with work last night but luckily it'll be my last one before I finish; I don't think I can handle what it does to me the next day. I also got annoyed with my dream genii pillow last night so threw it out of bed which probably contributed to my achiness this morning. I was like an old woman trying to get out of bed!

WelshLadyCDF · 15/06/2012 09:24

panpipe if throwing dream genii pillows out of bed in the early hours was an Olympic sport I would be in team GB! It's great up to a point.

Have chosen Molly for my LO, no middle name as Molly goes well with surname.

32+2 also...
Iron levels still low so taking supplements.
Back aching so swimming and doing yoga.
And..keep finding grey hairs so must book an appointment!

The3Bears · 15/06/2012 09:48

Morning

ishop We decided on Noah right at the begining so happy bump was a boy as I love the name Grin
ham you'll be fine with baby in bath. I suppose the advantage of a baby bath is not having to fill a giant bathtub for a tiny person but if your sharing that will be fine :)
Hope you manage to sort cat room out, Im also worrying about our 2 cats with the baby as we didnt have them til ds was 2 1/2 so a little bit worried about what they will be like around baby and constantly watching them etc the older one has already started sneaking in the bugaboo bee when no ones around. Ours go out now so I suppose that will be a abit easier
loupee I would hate to not have dp around for the final 6 weeks but im sure it will fly by and he'll soon be home, actually sometimes I would prefer it because atm everything he does annoys me Blush hormones :(
miggins I have joint card of ds that says from your little boys Grin so cute cant believe in a few short weeks were going to have boys! 2 little boys! Grin so happy right now
Well so much for baby going lower had the most stabbing rib pain all night and still have it now :( currently lay on my left side as sitting up is v painful.
At least it's Friday dp is off and were sorting out living room dp is currently re painting the ceiling and the walls as a bit grubby and im going to clean sofas and blinds/curting floor etc so at least 1 room sorted for when baby arrives Grin take out and the last desperate housewives tonight as I still havent watched it Shock cant wait, hope everyone has a lovely day

tashaw28 · 15/06/2012 10:48

Big news here, DS2 is nappy free at night yay!! So I officially have 9 ish weeks off from nappies! Smile

Loupee · 15/06/2012 10:51

Thanks ladies, reading your messages has really cheered me up. He left early this morning, so I had a wee cry and another hour in bed. He's in the army, so really should be used to it, and its not nearly as bad as it could be, not even thinking about where he is off to next year Shock he is down in Wales, a 10 hour journey down today. I have a number to phone if I need him to come home, but don't have any idea when the 'right' time to call is, wouldn't want to call too early, but don't want him to miss it either!
I think what makes it harder is that we only moved here in November, and really don't know anyone in the local area.
ishop we have a shortlist of 3 names, going to leave it at that and make the decision once he is here, they are Aaron, Isaac and Elijah, middle name will be John after FIL.
I got a second hand baby bath and stand off a Facebook group, dead cheap, because I keep getting conflicting advice about how useful it will be. Got a support as well.
Also been worried about how our 2 cats will be when the baby comes, been getting them used to going outside, but on days like this, they look at me in disgust when I open the back door. It appears my 'precious' cats don't 'do' rain! Smile

Lovemarmite · 15/06/2012 11:14

Hi Loupee, totally understand where you're coming from. My DH goes away on business to the US, Germany etc often and sometimes for a month and then back for a week and then a month again. Last time he was off I cried at him to come back a day early and was terrible on the phone, a real emotional mess but thinking about it, it was probably due to watching a sad film and so I was really emotional when he called! Oops.
Hope the 6 weeks go quickly for you, maybe a friend could come and stay with you over a weekend?

Baby baths - not sure we're going to get one... someone suggested a washing up bowl or washing LO in the basin. If this works, great, otherwise we maybe ordering one when she arrives and so great to hear your suggestions. Perhaps she can come in with one of us too, although I find it hard to manovre out of the bath now and so putting a LO into the equation might be a challenge straight away!

Flummoxed about a moses basket at the moment. I think they're a great idea but they're only in there for a few months and so we may be borrowing one, but still need new mattress and get some sheets, a mattress protector etc. I've been eyeing up an organic moses basket and bundle and then use it afterwards for storing blankets etc but DH would go mental at me spending money on something that will get used for a few months and then stores things, I get 'unnecessary!' as his usual saying. What are you doing about first few months of LO's arrival?

Westcountrylovescheese · 15/06/2012 11:34

Loupee, we have similar name choices, but will also wait till the day. Favourite at the moment is Aran... but we'll see.

Marmite, are you getting a pram with a cot attachment? Have you considered using that as an alternative to the 'Moses' basket? We've been given a second hand moses basket but think the pram cot might be used more.

Our LO has turned, the midwife confirmed it on Wednesday. The mad movements I felt on Monday night was probably him doing just that. I can also now occasionally feel a heel sticking out just under my rib. It's cool as its the first proper interaction DH has had as LO always stops moving whenever he feels. The heel is very obvious though and the look on DH's face was amazing. Suddenly became real.

32+3 today and starting to look forward to it actually happening. Eek!

MrsMigginslovespies · 15/06/2012 11:41

Hi Lovemarmite, we're borrowing a moses basket as do think they're a good idea and my sister loved hers (sorry I always harp on about her, but she's got babies that I know very well!). Dbabyniece is currently bouncing away beside me in her bouncy chair and is such a cute smiley thing! Can't believe I'll have one soon too! I've had a look at the baby bath, and whilst it's probably not one I would have chosen, will give it a bash to start with and go from there. Am also goig to get a support from JL too that I've seen which looks good.

Loupee sorry to hear about your Dh going away. Again (!), Dsis has experience of this as her DH is also in the army and was away until a week before my Dsis's first baby was born. Was all quite stressful but she had a lot of support and help from friends and family. I hope you'll be ok, but come on here for a chat when you can. Do what makes you feel happy and calm and think of how exciting it'll be when he returns.

God, I need to stop posting so much today. Sorry for yet again hogging the thread! Waving at you all and going away now x

Lovemarmite · 15/06/2012 12:01

We were going to get a pram with the cot attachment (the bugaboo cameleon) and use that but I think we're changing to a bee which doesn't have the carry cot which is flat (I think this is right?). We're changing because we're hoping to go on a flight in April and not have to buy another pram just for a trip away. The bee folds flat in one go but the cameleon has to come apart in two and it's more bulky. Hard decision these prams as I'd like a smoother ride and the big wheels on the cameleon apparently are better on rougher ground which we have a lot of around here.
Also, the bee is slightly cheaper and so the money we'd save would buy us the moses basket but that argument is totally bogus for something that lasts for a couple of months, I guess :)

Lovely to hear you have a bouncy baby next to you MrsMiggins! I feel very unprepared as we don't have many friends with LOs and our nephews and nieces live miles away and so don't see them very often. Come August, we'll be both out of our depth with LO!

I think I've felt LO turn a few times and my mw yesterday said she won't feel her until 34 weeks as she may turn a few more times still. I was very glad she didn't prod around my tummy as I was a little sore. Atm I think she's head up and is getting the most hiccups I've ever felt and stretching out on my left hand side. I've worked out why I'm awake at 4-6 am - she's having a boogy!

frillylemons · 15/06/2012 15:26

3bears*, that's a lovely baby bath! Thanks for all the help re baths, ladies, makes it much easier!

Re names, we have pretty much decided on one for a girl (I posted about it on FB to our group), but we aren't telling a soul (apart from those of you on FB!).

I'm so excited about being a mum!! I dreamt last night that I was breast feeding my baby who was a beautiful girl. It was lovely :) We are FINALLY getting the coving put up in the nursery which is tres exciting, then DH can crack on with the skirting board!

I am super excited because I have just ordered my changing bag EEEEEEEK! It is totally different from the one I put on yesterday and I had to order it from America because they have discontinued the print in the UK. It cost £60 inc p&p...let me know what you think!

frillylemons · 15/06/2012 15:27

marmite, we should sawp numbers, my LO has a boogie at 4-6am too! Like flipping clockwork!

frillylemons · 15/06/2012 15:52

Oh and I was going to say, re Father's Day...damn and blast! I got my dad a card and chocolate but couldn't find any cards that said 'from the bump' or anything like that....anyone know of places that sell bump cards?!

hamncheese · 15/06/2012 16:00

Good to hear your cat was good with your DS needles going to try and not worry about it... you are right these things tend to work out. Took us a long time to get the 2 boy cats settled and behaving as they were rescues so I think I panic because at first they were hard to live with!

Haha panpipe and welsh with the pillow throwing. Around 3am my V shape takes a hike too Grin

Love your names guys. Jacob is on our boy shortlist susie and Molly is one of our cats welsh :)

We have Charlotte for a girl. Thinking Alexander for a boy but still not totally sure so want to give the names dictionary another trawl to be sure

Noah is adorable bears ... resisting urge to steal... I've found my cats in the moses a couple of times and really shouted at them to try and get them told early, felt so so mean :( poor kitties! DH was all for having them shut out our bedroom from a month ago to teach them but I really doubt they wouldn't go in if the door was open later and I do NOT want to be having to remember which doors to close and such with a newborn!!

Have your cats been indoor up til now Loupee ? How did they react when you first let them out and were you worried about traffic/cat fights/never coming home etc? I'm worried about all that when we do get somewhere they could go out.

Congrats to you/your DS tashaw :)

Well had the MW and to let you know miggins that the eye blur thing isn't a worry as long as you don't have any of the following at the same time: high BP; headache; swelling (like recent increase not general preg swelling). Told it's probably the reading that gave me it, eye strain etc.

Baby is still head down SCORE!! She said it was right down but not engaged. Baby obviously takes after Dad as it's being so well behaved Wink My BP and iron are good and not much else to report. Did get totally soaked coming home which was crap. Also made the cupcakes but went to make the icing and it is merigne and calls for 8 egg whites. So I cracked all the eggs in the bowl. Yolks and all. And I'd already put a bit of vanilla in so couldn't exactly use it for an omelette or anything ARGH BABY BRAIN!!! So had to waste them then go out get more eggs and then felt so so tired when I got back. It's now four and going swimming at 5 so better get up and make this stuff.

fairtradelu · 15/06/2012 16:40

Hi folks,

Just wanted to add to the baby bath and Moses basket discussions: I have zero experience with babies but my brother and SIL have two young boys and they have said you don't strictly need a baby bath - you can just put a very small amount of water in the bath and splash it over LO (you need a non-slip mat though). Alternatively, you can have a bath and bring in baby when the water has cooled a little (just put them on a soft bathmat in the meantime, and hope they don't start bawling I guess!)

RE: Moses baskets. Our house is pretty small and we don't have much storage space so we've decided to use top of pram for bed and to just buy a wooden stand. I was worrying we wouldn't get enough use out of pram attachment to justify price anyway so this kind of kills two birds with one stone.

Have also been reading up on co-sleeping. (Three in a Bed by Deborah someone = excellent). Does anyone have any experience with it? I was thinking of putting baby down in pram/moses basket and then bringing into bed for first feed and maybe just keeping them in bed from that point. Does that sound sensible? I don't know anyone else who co-sleeps and parents are a bit "old-fashioned" about the whole thing so am not bringing it up with them!

Happy Weekend everyone!

WelshLadyCDF · 15/06/2012 16:41

Have picked up some cute bits from Laura Ashley for LO's nursery 'corner' in our bedroom, have a wallpaper border but as its a rented flat think I may be better. The wall stickers I have say they are removable. The range is reduced, this is it www.lauraashley.com/invt/3323586 I just need to ask DP if he'll get the rug as well now!

WelshLadyCDF · 15/06/2012 17:07

(the range is called Bella Butterfly)

panpipe · 15/06/2012 19:09

This should be post 400!

ham I've had serious baby brain today too. Designed an advert at work and included the title of a piece of music we haven't performed for about 3 years, left someone's paperwork in the kitchen and used someone else's milk for my breakfast! All in one day! Doh Blush

Whiteangel · 15/06/2012 19:39

3 bears Noah Joseph is top of our list. Waiting to meet him but it feels right. He has been called Boris since 20w scan. Can't remember exactly why but my mum insists I started it. Picked up our new car this evening after near disaster, I left the registration documents for the car I was trading in at work 40mins away but they still let us pick up the car as I think she felt sorry for me! Going to get car seat fitted tomorrow morning then we'll be ready for an early arrival. Was kept awake last night by pelvic pain. Seems to be triggered by driving so won't be taking the new car out for any long test drives any time soon! DH and his best friend have started painting the new utility room, the kitchen and diner in prep for my dad coming to fit the kitchen next weekend. Will be great to have a kitchen again and to get the microwave out of the lounge! Have a great Friday night everyone xx
