Hi!

Thought I would start this thread as I found out I was pregnant on Saturday and a few of you were saying you had also found out this weekend!

Do come and share!

Oh I've just discovered a LOVELY non-alcoholic drink. Most of them are far too sweet but this stuff is lush www.juicebrewery.com/Drinks/Soft-Brew.php not too sweet a little bit beery and really very refreshing. Can get it in sainsbos and ocado.

Anyone got any other ideas - must admit I am missing the wine and G&Ts!

whatsinthebagangelos · 11/06/2012 21:30

I cried when I heard Gary barlow's song on the radio this morning Blush

noblegiraffe · 11/06/2012 21:54

I cried at James Corden's Tony acceptance speech on the news this morning. And I don't even like James Corden Confused. I remember it getting a lot worse in my last pregnancy, I spent half an hour sobbing my heart out after a gritty episode of Waterloo Road. Blush

Re non-alcoholic drinks - I am mainly sipping Shloer or Appletiser and trying not to feel too bitter about it. I like sweet drinks though.

QueenOfTheDrama · 11/06/2012 22:27

haha I sobbed my way through the final ever episode of desperate housewives last night, god knows why I was watching it as I don't usually so had no idea what was even going on!

Alcohol wise I'm not missing wine yet but I'd love a cold beer! Anyone know a nice non-alcoholic one?

Want2bSupermum · 12/06/2012 00:22

Moogle and Queen I would tell your employers ASAP. There is no hard and fast rule on when to tell your employer you are pregnant. I am in the US and the rules are here that once you tell them they can't fire you or lay you off because it looks very obvious that the reason is due to your pregnancy.

I told my old employer when I was 3 months along last time but there isn't a reason to wait. Very excited but worried as it isn't going to be easy to find a job whilst pregnant. DH has his exams tomorrow and Wednesday and I have exams to complete too. After that is finished I might have a go at start my own business instead of finding a job. I think this might be a really good time to do it as I doubt many in the private sector are going to be interested in me.

freerangelady · 12/06/2012 07:02

Moogle and Queen -
I told my work asap as I'm a farmer and I work with chemicals, raw egg and lots of heavy lifting to name a few. It does help that it's a family businss in one way, but my Mother's response was "it did me and your MIL no harm to work through it and it won't you".

My father however, is a lot more considerate and I've been avoiding the above issues!

If there are H&S isues def tell them.

Welcome to new people!

LittleMissSnowShine · 12/06/2012 07:04

freebutton - tesco has a low and non alcoholic section in theur booze bit with a couple of nice beers/ciders u can try out. There are no good non alcoholic wines, believe me, i've tried! If u like gin, u can judt drink tonic with lots of ice and a big.lime wedge. Party on ha ha

Hello queen!

Re: work - I work in a lovely, quite small & v supportive community organisation.. If im anywhere near as sick as I was with DS i'll have to tell them sooner rather than later but hopefully I wont be as sick this time, wont be fun with a toddler to look after!

QueenOfTheDrama · 12/06/2012 07:11

Thanks for all the advice re telling work- want2 I have no worries about being laid off! It's just that my role will change considerably once I tell them and I'm not sure if I'm quite ready for that. I suppose it'll get to a point when I just know it's time to tell all iykwim.

littlemiss will check out the booze aisle at tesco!

BackPackBackPack · 12/06/2012 07:55

Congratulations to all the new people. :)

I'm doing OK apart from the sickness constantly. My GP isn't to concerned yet as I'm keeping fluid down.

I'm also very moody and go in a mood for the least bit thing Worst thing is DP blowing his nose near me

whatsinthebagangelos · 12/06/2012 09:18

Hi all

Must confess I am having a bit of a wobble today. Prob because am feeling quite rough and effects of hormones etc but for some reason am not feeling as excited as I was a few weeks ago and this worries me. I'm trying to be objective and view it that
My body is going crazy doing this and I'm bound to feel weird at times. But it's still making me feel a bit wobbly at the moment. Please someone tell me this is normal! Grin

Morning whatsin

I know exactly what you mean - when I got my BFP yesterday I felt really excited but already today I feel kind of flat. I think in the early weeks before your first scan it just feels a bit unreal (apart from the feeling ropey). Once you get that first scan and see the wriggling bean it all becomes real again!

I just feel like I'm almost expecting the worst at the moment, so trying not to think about it too much and telling myself that what will be will be!

I think the fact that you are feeling rough is a good sign that all is well Smile

whatsinthebagangelos · 12/06/2012 09:53

Thanks bop.

I guess my scan feels such a long way off and not real like you say. Will be happier when u can see everythibg is fine. I tend to feel very sorry for myself anyway when feeling unwell (wimp). Also my job is intense and feeling not on form isn't great but I just need to get on with it really. And my manager us fab and v. Supportive. I'm sure I'll feel ok in a couple of days. Just a little blip hopefully! Wink

noblegiraffe · 12/06/2012 11:32

The first 12 weeks are nothing but a hard slog. You feel grim, worry about things going wrong, but at the same time you can't tell anyone you're pregnant so have to hide feeling crap and you don't get support and excitement from others.

2nd trimester is much better. You've had the scan, seen the baby, get a bump to show off, everyone around you congratulates you and asks you how you're doing. You start feeling kicks and start to bond. And you feel a hell of a lot better.

LittleMissSnowShine · 12/06/2012 11:55

whatsinthebag - feel exactly the same, until i've had 12 week scan i will feel v jittery, i certainly did with DS. Last time I was really sick from about week 6 - week 14. I'm 4 weeks now so i'm not sick yet or anything and that makes me a bit nervous. My GP surgery is just crazy and I won't see the GP til 28th June (!!) and I won't get a booking in appt until after that - feels like forever!!!

I did do a digi test this morning tho just to see it in writing, instead of a pink line and seeing the word 'pregnant' did make me feel a lot better!

Also, killed with heartburn today....

Want2bSupermum · 12/06/2012 14:30

backpack When I was pregnant last time I had morning sickness and found eating every 2 hrs (make sure you portion control so you don't gain weight) and ice lollies after pucking worked well. I found the cheaper ones full of sugar to be better.

Queen If your role changes that much then I can see why you wouldn't tell them until you pass week 14, unless your job affects the development of the baby. Nothing worse then everyone at work knowing you had a miscarriage.

LittleMissSnowShine · 12/06/2012 19:26

ooh ice lollies after puking, good tip! i lived on v cold isotonic sports drinks in small amounts during the weeks of puking to stay hydrated and have a tiny bit of energy, also good during delivery.

I had a pretty crappy delivery experience last time, so i'm thinking about different options for this time round, cost of going private is just insane so i'm thinking of a doula maybe, even for some antenatal accupuncture and stuff, and some pregnancy yoga - it mightn't make this delivery a whole lot better (tho fx it will!) but it might make me a lot calmer! I thought first time mums were supposed to be the stress heads but i'm a lot more jittery about #2!!

QueenOfTheDrama · 12/06/2012 20:34

Great ideas re ice lollies and isotonic drinks during the morning sickness weeks, will stock up on them I think.

noble your post about all the good things about the 2nd trimester has made me well up! Can't wait for scans, telling people, feeling the baby move etc Smile

WhiteAnkleSocks · 13/06/2012 18:49

Hi all, I got my BFP today.

This will be DC2 ad I'm feeling over the moon (and like I want to cry All The Time) but so worried about finances!

Interesting to read further up the page that it might be a good idea to tell employers ASAP - I am in a relatively new job and they have just extended my probation period so am v worried about job securityat the moment.

Just thinking about it all is setting me off again, must stock ip on tissues!

WhiteAnkleSocks · 13/06/2012 18:50

Meant to say, I think I will be due late feb / early match bit not sure, so am I allowed here?!

LittleMissSnowShine · 14/06/2012 14:54

Hi whiteanklesocks - welcome! I guess we'll all get a better idea of due dates after weve had our scans, not that it seems to matter much since v few babies ever seem to arrive on schedule lol

LookAtHerGo · 14/06/2012 19:07

I feel rotten, I feel like I'm coming down with a bad cold or the flu, got a temp and just want to go back to bed. Got docs in the morning to do pg stuff. I'll obviously be mentioning it if I feel like I do now. Sad

Congratulations to the new ones in the thread.

WhiteAnkleSocks · 14/06/2012 19:13

Thanks for the welcome LittleMiss

LookAtHerGo poor you, how many weeks do you think you are now? There's not much you can take except for paracetamol, so I hope you start to feel much better soon.

So far my only symptom is crushing tiredness. Also, I feel v bloated and am sure that I'm already showing a bit; womb feels tender as well, and I'm sure that last time I didn't feel it until much later.

freerangelady · 14/06/2012 19:50

Lookathergo - I've just got over a stinker of a cold, absolutley poo not even being able to have a lemsip! I found pringles and tv with lots of sleep helped.

Whiteanklesocks - I'm feeling bloated at the moment too but that's cos I'm a bit of a podger and have totally been podging out this week. Need to get a handle on this otherwise I'll have put on a stone in a few weeks.

Pretty impressed your womb feels tender - I wouldn't know where mine was!!

LookAtHerGo · 14/06/2012 20:16

Thanks socks and freerange. I've had paracetamol and a bit of a cry when I said I was feeling rubbish. I've cancelled going to a meeting this evening and am resting on the sofa while my DP tries to get LO to self settle, it's only night 5 of trying, it's hard work. I think I'm between 5 and 7 weeks, hard to know because cycles were up the spout with still bf LO. I'll see what the doc says, though no doubt she'll go with my period. It just means scan might only be 5 weeks awayGrin

bloomingmarvellous · 14/06/2012 22:43

Hi so glad to have found you lovely ladies. I think im about four weeks along which would make my due date 20 feb 13. iI found doing the weekly grocery shop awful today as i scanned the food items on the shelves my stomach kept wanting to toss up is this normal? I keep taking my temp to see if im still pregnant ordinarily my temp is around 36.9 but when im preggers its usually around the 37.2 mark.
