Emilie arrived in a nicely dramatic theatre kielands forceps delivery at 5 pm after 14 hrs labour with non functioning epidural, not fun! However, she is here, 9lb 4oz and feeding well! I am just waiting for spinal to wear off so I can enjoy more pain later :o

She is all smuggling and looks like her brother!

Kveta · 12/06/2012 21:52

Or snuggly... Not a criminal yet!

OP posts:
DairyNips · 12/06/2012 22:01

Oh kveta non functioning epidural does not sound fun. Neither do forceps, poor you. Glad you got through it and are enjoying the snuggles though and she's feeding wellSmile

gwenniebee · 12/06/2012 22:43

Yay for baby kveta :)

Am sitting listening to poor DH on the phone to his mum (who rang at 10pm) but also I had failed to feed DH until about 9.50 so he's trying to eat and not let onto his mum that he's eating because he's also trying to tell her that she shouldn't ring so late!! He's embroiled in a discussion about his mum's family's holiday house which desperately needs selling, but is in a state of decor not updated since the 1950s. His family don't seem to think this is likely to have an adverse affect on their selling it, great offence is taken if ever it's implied that it would have to be sold as a "project" rather than a house that could just be lived in. Ah, the joys of family life!

Must learn how to program phone to go straight to answerphone for after baby is born....

AmethystMoon · 12/06/2012 23:42

Ooh poor you kveta sounds 'orrible Sad non-functioning epidurals shouldn't be allowed. Glad little Emilie is here safely though Smile hope they can give you some good pain killers to get you through. Fantastic news, our latest June baby Grin xx

surfmama · 13/06/2012 00:17

kveta whoop, very excited for you.

Well June mums to be I have just got back from the hosi as I have am a bit neurotic had a horrid headache all day and thought my bp was up. anyway all seems okay, it is just a headache.. but I have never really had one so it is odd, anyway, whilst there a lady came in next to me, 25 weeks with a bit of a bleed, and they checked her and she is in labour... so i feel very emotional as I had a bleed at 24 weeks and remember never in 1 million years thinking I would get to 39 weeks and miserable and in pain with knitting needles as I am, I am very very happy. Turns out she had her previous at 24 weeks when visiting A&E with a pain and not knowing she was pregnant. wishing her well, and all of us smooth timely healthy babies!

ellybett · 13/06/2012 03:59

Blooming dawn chorus. Officially giving up on sleep tonight.

Hope you're doing ok kveta. So glad Emilie is safely here. Hope all other new baby mums are enjoying snuggles and shut eye!

CathFin · 13/06/2012 04:09

Hi Ellybet. me too, feel rather sick - ewk!

Congrats again Kveta, so glad Emilie got here safely even if the birth sounds a bit dramatic and painful.

Surf - your post puts our hangers on in perspective, hope you are feeling better now.

AmethystMoon · 13/06/2012 05:17

Another one that can't sleep Sad hips hurting too muc Sad
surf just reading your post made me realise how lucky we all are. Glad you see ok too, headaches are rubbish but at least it is nothing more serious x
Sending hurry up and meet your mums vibes to little dairy and little pink.
Sorry to hear about your DH's paternity leave situation dairy, that is crap Sad I hope your MW can get you in for an earlier induction of that is what you want xx
Bleuuurgg feel sick, thought it was because I was hungry but have had toast, so not that. Didn't eat dinner last night as heart burn so bad I just keep getting mouthfuls of stomach acid when I do. Never thought I would be off my food!!

CathFin · 13/06/2012 06:43

Amethyst - lets hope the end is nigh, that's exactly what I did last night, no dinner and still woke up all the time with acid.

Dairy - also sorry to hear about your DH's paternity leave - very frustrating!

How is this baby up in my ribs again, I thought it was meant to be going the other way!

StarlightMaJesty · 13/06/2012 07:51

Congratulations Kveta!

Sorry it was a rough ride.

justwantcheese · 13/06/2012 07:52

Kveta, hope you're enjoying lots of snuggles and are not in any pain now.
dairy and pink how we doing this morning? Can't believe were 41 weeks, come on babies. Not even a twinge here. I sympathise with you pink on having no symptoms.
amethyst hope the hips feel better today and you manage some sleep.

surf glad the headaches weren't anything serious.hope you're feeling a bit better.
have a good day all, setting off early to school for school trip, the school hill feels like I'm climbing mount everest!

McKayz · 13/06/2012 07:56

Congratulations. I'm glad she's finally here but I'm sorry it wasn't a nice experience.

ellybett · 13/06/2012 08:24

Thoughts with dairy , pink , and cheese today. Sending lovely labour vibes your way. Ooh, and star too.

I think I fell asleep at 6 ish, its getting ridiculous. Can't sleep on side as it hurts in too many places. Sitting upright doesn't seem to work as it just sends bub whooshing onto my bladder, really am wondering now what sleep I'll actually get before the birth!

Sorry to hear your paternity leave situation dairy. That's the last sort of stress you need right now.

Hope you got some sleep in the end cath and amethyst. My tummy is rumbling but haven't the energy to make toast!

38+4 today. Not a sign of labour in sight!

DairyNips · 13/06/2012 08:51

Morning everyoneSmile

surf Glad your headache wasn't a sign of anything serious.

Thinking of all you other overdue ladies today, hope one of us has a baby soon!

I was a bit crampy last night but nothing came of itHmm Midwife this aft for a sweep. Should also find out if they can induce me any earlier than usual.

Sorry to all of you who are struggling to sleep.. I didn't sleep that bad last night but I tossed and turned quite a bit then the boys were through at 6.30

Coops79 · 13/06/2012 09:54

Morning All - I am now officially on maternity leave and at 39 weeks.
Congratulations Kveta - hope you're fully recovered soon.
justwantcheese am sending you as many labour vibes as possible. Can't remember if this is your first? Hopefully she'll sense that the sun's out (it is here at least) and decide it's not too bad in the outside world after all.

gwenniebee · 13/06/2012 10:09

Woohoo coops :) And you miss those grotty yr7s too, nice work :)

Hope everyone who is waiting to go has some news today.

My plans for today include finding a recipe to use up the "malted wheat squares" I bought at the supermarket the other day which are like eating cardboard for breakfast. I think I've found one for sort of cereal bar things which not only will use up the disgusting stuff but also might be appropriate to send out to my brother. Winner, as he would say.

Also hoping to get into the field to pick some elderflowers for elderflower champagne :) I like this maternity leave thing. It's awesome.

Coops79 · 13/06/2012 10:33

Hello gwenniebee! Yes that did enter my thinking (Bad Teacher!) but I did Monday and Tuesday and it nearly killed me so don't feel too guilty. A little worried for my poor replacement who is a lovely (and talented) just-qualified teacher who is clearly bricking it. I know she'll be fine but it'll be her first time in a classroom without someone holding her hand and I remember how scary that was!

Good luck with finding your recipe (suggest something flapjacky involving golden syrup, maybe raisins?) I'm off to shop. Have a lovely day. x

surfmama · 13/06/2012 12:42

hi all. amethyst cath rubbish heart burn isn't it. I seem to have only had a few bouts of it, mainly after eating tomato sauce - pasta type things. If desperate, apple and carrot are the most gentle things to eat, would cook them. when i get it bad i cook some brown rice or quinoa and then throw in some apple and carrot at last stage, strain and top with big dollop of yoghurt honey and nuts. full of nutritious stuff if not a bit hippy.

thanks all for your thoughts about my head. I am wondering if it's the low pressure thing? seems to be all sinusey. never mind. having a baby soon.
gwen what is your recipe for champers, i have tried this twice - last time with champagne yeast rather than the vinegar approach and it tasted like shit both times. was hoping for some sun before collecting flowers for cordial, they might be finished before then though!
coops that's great - I am not supposed to be working but am quite bored really and keep sticking my nose in things!

gwenniebee · 13/06/2012 13:24

surf I've used Hugh F-W's recipe twice now - one year with Cotswold elderflowers picked in glorious sunshine and one year with ones picked in the drizzle on the Downs in Bristol. Also kind of forgot the vinegar that year and it tasted a bit dodge (although not so dodge I didn't finish the 24 or so bottles off....)

This year I am hoping for results as good as the first year with my soon to be picked grey but warm day in Hertfordshire flowers....!

www.channel4.com/4food/recipes/chefs/hugh-fearnley-whittingstall/elderflower-champagne-recipe

They seem to have changed the quantities a bit from when I first downloaded it though - my 4yr old printout has 2kg of sugar and 24-30 flowers.

coops have bought dried apricots and cranberries and am going to mix my shreddies up with peanut butter and syrup and see what happens! Hope you are enjoying your first day off - I've managed two and a bit days of proper mat leave before I had a text from my HoD asking me unnecessary questions. Grrr.... I knew this would happen because they were incredibly badly organised about me going. So I am considering asking for a full day's pay everytime I have to answer a silly question for them Wink.

rachyroodle · 13/06/2012 13:48

Afternoon everyone. Quick question to see what you all think. 1 day overdue now and want to avoid being induced if I can. Seeing the midwife this afternoon and was wondering whether to ask for a sweep so have opportunity to have three before they induce me. Would rather everything happened of its own accord but only getting slight period like pains so think it may not in time and I would let them induce me at 42 weeks. Anybody have any thoughts?

Will post proper message later :)

rachyroodle · 13/06/2012 13:49

P.s amethyst pmed you yesterday. Not sure if you have spotted it?

AmethystMoon · 13/06/2012 14:02

rachy just seen it and replied Grin

Coops79 · 13/06/2012 14:24

gwenniebee - sounds yum. Have just got my Graze box through the door and am trying to avoid eating the whole lot right now. I like your style with your HoD. I suspect I won't hear anything from my lot; I'm not as indispensable as I like to think!

Rachroodle - I know very little about this sort of thing but my instinct would be to leave it for a bit, one day overdue isn't very much. Other people may be able to advise with actual facts and knowledge though. :)

ffnorm · 13/06/2012 15:10

Hi everyone Smile

Thought I'd pop by and let you know about the excitement that led to DD's birth DH has decided we never do anything in a straight forward fashion

So as you know my C/S had been booked for Thurs 14th after DD failed to turn...I did ask at the time didn't they think this was a bit late as I had DS spontaneously at 39+6 Winkbut red tape said there were no earlier elective slots.

So on Sunday we went to visit friends who live in Harpenden (an hour drive from home) as I stood up to leave,my water broke luckily I was sitting on a bar stool, not the lovely fabric sofa called our local hospital who said due to the breech situation,it was not safe to travel the hour back to Romford and I must go immediately to the nearest Mat hospital. So off I went to Luton and Dunstable hospital...

I phoned and explained while on our way and got admitted to Labour ward as I arrived. They put me on the CTG and established that lo was very happy and undistressed by the water going and was definitely still breech. They agreed I would need to stay there and explained that the would have to go through the whole admission process as I had never been there before but this was ok as I had time as I wasn't in labour.

About an hour later, many forms,a cannula and bloods done,I realised that I had started having contractions and they had quickly increased in frequency and I should probably tell someone. They said not to worry as I would be going to theatre within the hour.

another 20 minutes and the surgeon came to see me,who commented that I seemed to be in a lot of "discomfort",I agreed and he asked if I would mind if he examined me. He looked at me and said to the MW "SHE'S FULLY DILATED" Shockcue hitting of the emergency bell and a whole team pushing me to theatre, quick insertion of spinal, through which I had the overwhelming sensation to bear down..

When they lay me back on the table - her foot was already visible, which DH witnessed...[shock[ Shock

C/S proceeded very quickly and beautiful DD was delivered Smile

Sorry that was a bit of long winded Blush will pop back later,MW is here.
