I've been having some very irregular pains. I thought I'd better just give front room a once over and hoover. Of course they've stopped now! Sad

DairyNips · 12/06/2012 12:31

Hey fluffy Smile glad your pink babygro's won't go to waste!

Oh McKayz Sorry the pains have stoppedSad it's so frustrating! Hope they come back..

Still naff all here. I should stop expecting any more contractions I think cause it doesn't look like they'll be back any time soon!

blondiedollface · 12/06/2012 13:03

Hi all, sorry for lack of posting and what-not, have read through but nothing is staying in at the moment!!

Congrats to TDW, Ffnorm, SSC and anyone else who's little bundle has arrived...

Good luck to Kveta and Novmama :)

Had a lovely weekend with DB, mum treated us to absolutely everything this weekend and I have to say, Bath Spa at 39 weeks pg is divine!!

Since Sunday evening though I've felt really unwell (been contracting, yet again, Dairy I really feel your pain) and poor DH came home to me ill at both ends yesterday evening, he managed to get some fluids down me and hydrate me back to normal, but the cramping was horrific, contractions AND food poisoning at the same time really are not to be sniffed at. Don't think I'd wish it on my worst enemy. So it all finally subsided at 11pm-ish and I propped myself up in what DH calls my 'fortress' and managed a few hours sleep. This morning when I got up (TMI warning) there was milky fluid running down my legs, not at a great pace, but to me it seemed too much to be discharge, so I've had a shower, no more 'significant' amounts of liquid but pad is on, had something to eat and am going in to be examined at 230pm - LO hasn't moved unless prodded this morning I'm guessing she's just as exhausted as I am from convulsing like a cat with a furball for a good few hours yesterday...

Plug went pretty much 2 weeks ago, have been contracting on and off since then, so MW is sweeping on Thurs at 39+5 and I am praying for sweet relief from it all. The sleepless newborn nights will be nothing compared to this!!

So with a smile on my face, a positive frame of mind and the biggest lump of hope in the world that this is it I shall wait for 230pm to go into the unit.

Have a lovely day everyone Xx

gwenniebee · 12/06/2012 14:00

Oh blondie you poor poor thing :( (I mistyped that as poo poo thing, which I nearly left for amusement value given your recent predicament......) I really hope, in the nicest possible way, that we don't hear from you for a few hours, and that when we do it's all happened for you!

Good luck :) xx

justwantcheese · 12/06/2012 14:19

Hi blondie, that sounds horrendous, glad you're feeling a teeny bit better.
Was the liquid your waters breaking?
Good luck this afternoon.
Dairy, I share your frustration, another sodding day, still think you will be before me as had nothing at all.
fluffy how nice to buy new baby things, I have a nursery full of pink, I hope the scan is right!

justwantcheese · 12/06/2012 14:20

Anyone heard from Kveta?

McKayz · 12/06/2012 14:55

Not since this morning justwantscheese She posted on facebook that she was 41 weeks.

I am bouncing away on the ball in the hope it starts things again.

StarlightMaJesty · 12/06/2012 15:02

Did as told and called mw today to book appointment for Thurs.

She say 'oh haven't you had your baby yet?'

Hmm
TeaandHobnobs · 12/06/2012 15:05

By the way, has anyone heard from Boysrstupid? I can remember her posting when I was in hospital, but don't think I've seen her on here since then?

smallwonder · 12/06/2012 15:29

Just popping in, PN thread definitely needs some contributors now Smile
Engorgement has finally calmed down and after a few good feeds have been trying to keep DS cool as like his siblings before, prefers to snack and sleep Hmm
Positive vibes to all x

StarlightMaJesty · 12/06/2012 15:36

Think they're just all sheltering from the rain!

McKayz · 12/06/2012 16:11

Yeah the babies just want sunshine. They are meant to be summer babies after all!!

StarlightMaJesty · 12/06/2012 16:18

Midwife called me back! wants to book me a sweep.

I politely declined. She asked for my objections so I told her i'd rather I had no-one touching me down there before or during labour (tbh, if things go wierd I would allow it).

She asked me if I'd refuse other interventions if I go over 41 weeks (why 41 weeks? ) I said I would.

She wants me to take my birth plan so she can make the rest of the team aware of it and make sure her superior knows it.

So, a good thing?

I'm choosing to see it as such for now. The difficult customers get the more experienced, trained and confident staff on the day right?

Shelduck · 12/06/2012 17:41

blondie- oh that sounds really rough! Not surprised both you and LO are exhausted.

Well, i've just been for my first (and hopefully last!) consultant appointment. He was very nice. As expected, he gave me a sweep, will leave it 48 hours, and i'm booked in for induction on friday. Had long discussion about it. Still some mixed feelings about induction, and still don't think the risks of not being induced necessarily outweigh my reasons for preferring to hang on, and i suspect what swung it for me was that i'm just fed up with all the monitoring. But nevertheless, i'm feeling at peace with the decision now it's made, and am focusing on the positives. E.g. that i should have a baby sooner rather than later! have bought father's day card for DH just in case. actually TWO cards, one from boy and one from girl, lack of unisex option striking again

Have a good evening everyone. Come on babies!

DairyNips · 12/06/2012 18:07

Star hopefully them looking over your birth plan is a good thing. You stick to your guns!

Shelduck Hope the sweep works but if not its good you're at peace with your induction.. Either way you will have your baby soon.

Urgh, this baby needs to hurry up now. Dh's work have sprung on him today that he has to take his paternity leave no later than Monday. If I go two weeks over I won't be induced till tues night so he'll have wasted two days paternity for no reason. They are saying he has to do this as he has to be back in time for stock take (no one is allowed to be off during stock take Hmm) After stocktake someone is on holiday so he can't be off then either. He's obviously pissed off about it but nothing he can do.
Anyway I called the midwife to ask about the induction process and she said it would usually be booked when I'm 13 days over but when I go for my appointment tomorrow she will call the hosp and check if they can do it earlier, either fri, sat or sun when I'll be 9, 10 or 11 days over. She said she can't promise anything but she'll try for us. Just have to wait and see what happens tomorrow I guess. I'll get a sweep tomorrow too.. Of course I might go in to labour myself before the weekend, yeah rightHmm

gwenniebee · 12/06/2012 18:28

Dairy that doesn't sound right at all Hmm Have no advice other than to say grrrrr on your behalf...... and also things spring to mind like, what if he was ill during stock-take? Would he still be expected to go in? Frankly it's leave not holiday so the company should organise someone to replace him for that time, shouldn't they? I don't know the legal ins and outs of it but it sounds rubbish and I feel sorry for you.

StarlightMaJesty · 12/06/2012 18:31

Dairy, I'm fairly sure that is illegal, but I don't suppose your DH will be the next up for promotion if he points that out!?

McKayz · 12/06/2012 18:42

Dairy I posted on the other thread. It is illegal and they can't make him start before the baby is born. Unless they want to pay a huge fine.

PinkPanther27 · 12/06/2012 18:46

Dairy it is illegal. Men are not allowed to take paternity leave before the baby is born and the paternity leave has to be used for the purpose of looking after the child- I checked this only a few days ago (as i am now 41 weeks)

McKayz · 12/06/2012 18:54

XH's employer tried to do it. He told them it was illegal but they didn't care so he went to citzens advice as they wanted it to start a week before DS2 was actually due.

They rang the company who had to give in as apparently it can result in a very large fine.

I suppose it depends if you want to argue about it. We decided to argue because it was a full week.

DairyNips · 12/06/2012 18:55

He says that's all good and well but even if he insists he starts paternity when the baby is born, because he's only taking a weeks paternity then a weeks holiday they could still make him cancel some of his second week and go in or go back early as its classed as holiday. No one is allowed to book holiday during stock take or apparently be off sickHmm To be honest though, last stock take our car broke down in Peterborough and we couldn't get back so he missed it and they just had to deal with it. Obviously though that's not the situation this time, technically he'll 'just' be on holiday. Of course he could take 2 weeks paternity but then we'd lose money we can't really afford to lose.

justwantcheese · 12/06/2012 19:51

Come on young lady, just one little twinge seen as I'm nearly 41 weeks!
I don't want to wait Any longer :'(

DairyNips · 12/06/2012 19:58

Aw justwants sending labour vibes to you ~~~~~~>

justwantcheese · 12/06/2012 20:33

And me to you dairy, ---> surely it can't be much longer for both of us.

PinkPanther27 · 12/06/2012 21:40

Hello all, Flora has posted on the fb group!
Dairy, justwantscheese I think we are the 3 most overdue now aren't we? I'm not having even the slightest twinge here so I'm gonna try and book a haircut for tomorrow and I've ordered some letters to do some decopatch for the nursery (in baby's name). I figured that if I start planning stuff then she might come out Wink
Good luck to all those of you having CS's this week :)
