Hurray for great scans! Smegs I know exactly what you mean by "getting to know" your baby at the scan, it's lovely isn't it? :) Whims I also had a brief pang of disappointment over not having twins at the first scan although now I know more about the challenges of twins from supermum Dream I know I couldn't have coped!

No Brooking hard for Ninja still, bring on the full moon!

GenericDietCola · 02/07/2012 17:56

Whim that is great news re your scan! What's your due date? I think you are a couple of weeks ahead of me, like Tock.

Smegs brill news for you too! I sort of know what you mean I think about the no more babies thing, although I've always wanted two so I don't think I'll get that. I just hope all goes well with this baby and then I can move on from the madness of TTC and miscarriages and enjoy having two children.

Stacks your bump is lovely and you look very slim. I'm looking forward to getting out of the 'fat and badly dressed stage' as Whim says and into the clingy maternity tops to show off the fact that it's a bump and not a podgy belly!

Ninja I hope you are comfy and maybe sneezing as I write! I've been thinking about you every now and again, usually in meetings or something, thinking 'I must check if Ninja's had her baby yet'!

Hello everyone else. Got my 12 wk scan tomorrow morning, so send some brooking my way please!

GreenOlives · 02/07/2012 18:23

whims and smegs great news on lovely wriggly babies on scans Grin

Gen sending lots of brooking vibes for your scan tom!

I had second HCG test today which came back at 19,700 - thats more than doubled since Fri so I am chuffed and hoping that on Friday's scan we see an Olivebean heartbeat! I may even pull up a beanbag in here then! TTFN !xx

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 02/07/2012 19:00

Good luck!

That's such amazing news Olives, I hope you get to see that heart beat on Friday :)

I'm having serious McDonalds regret. I had it at 1pm and at 7pm I still have indigestion and my bump feels like its about to explode Confused I've tried a bath and am chugging mint tea like there's no tomorrow

whimsicalname · 02/07/2012 19:34

Oh dear fluff poor you. I don't think I've had a McDs for 20 years but I can imagine they;d sit badly!

No offence taken tock. I do think about it (see for example extended discussions about reusable nappies and the fact that I am about to ship probably 3 chests of hand me down clothes for the poor neglectarinos), and promise I am stopping at 4, which I account for our family and my brother, who doesn't appear to be going forth and multiplying. I just hope the boys don't go on to lead massively extravagent lifestyles in the future!

gen they put me back a week at the scan, which I expected really after a run of 40 day cycles, so now I'm due 13th Jan. Although I'd be surprised to get a baby before the 20th. If I remember correctly tock you're due earlier in Jan? Good luck at your scan tomorrow though, and brooking for you on Fri green. We seem to be keeping a lot of sonographers in business!

Right, we're telling the boys in a tick. Wish me luck.

GenericDietCola · 02/07/2012 19:43

Ooh Whim good luck and let us know how you get on! I expect we may have similar due dates then, I'm anticipating 15-18 Jan.

Fluff what about ginger tea? Or a glass of milk?

Olives it's lovely to see you here!

DreamingOfPeace · 02/07/2012 19:56

Poor you fluff, but my goodness I'd love a McD now you've mentioned it.... Err, what's going on, I'm not even pg!!!

JenFraggle · 02/07/2012 20:19

Whims I've got a useless fascinating fact for you. 13th Jan is Stephen Hendry's birthday.

DreamingOfPeace · 02/07/2012 20:33

Right. Eaten a whole packet of jaffa cakes instead. Don't tell the post grad lot, theyre all dieting and shredding and I'm meant to be too

stacks, that's a lovely neat bump. I saw a pic of a friend's bump at 39+6 yesterday and was surprised how small they seemed, ha! Shows how skewed my opinion is since I became a whale with the dts. Think I've still got a bump pic on my profile but on phone... You definitely look pg though, yay for that :)

smegs, while I'm still in the midst of hellish nights with my tag team duo (& DD joining in for good measure sometimes) I felt :( at no more today at a little playgroup we go to where 3 of the 7 mums were pg, all about the sane stage, 12-16 weeks. Dh and i agreed three from the beginning though, compromising me wanting a big family and him wanting 2. And I'm.so busy with them now, but with them only one school year apart I'm worried DD will go to school, dts the next year and I'll really want one more. Dh would also be terrified of twins again though, he's already said so and that he wants a vasectomy which made me cry!!! I do get moments when i agree though, and you'll be so busy with your 2 too.

Hooray olives looking forward to your news on Friday

Good luck for your scan generic, but you won't need it, it'll be grand.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 02/07/2012 21:58

A glass of milk and a rice cracker has done the trick thank goodness!

:o neglectarinos! How did they take the news, are they suitably excited? I wonder if baby will get any special privileges for being born on Us soil? Pretty sure s/he will qualify for presidentship (assuming they later become a proper paid up citizen) unlike poor Arnie.

Sorry for the temptation dream!

NinjaChipmunk · 02/07/2012 22:05

Majorly brooking for gen tomorrow and olives on Friday for your scans. Awesome news on the hcg levels too.
No news here yet, not even a twinge. I may start taking bets or organise a sweepstake soon just amuse myself. Nice to see the post grads popping over too.

NinjaChipmunk · 02/07/2012 22:16

Glad you sorted the indigestion finally fluff I get gaviscon advance by the half litre from the docs. And i swig from it liberally!

Stacks · 02/07/2012 22:48

fluff the soup was lovely, but I overcooked the peppers a bit (had to get the washing in when it started raining) and I think I could taste the slight burnt flavour. Still, I'll make it again I'm sure.

Gen lots of brooking sent your way.

olives great news on the result, and brooking for a nice strong heartbeat on Fri.

I'm worrying about later in the PG.. I can't stand gaviscon, it makes me vomit. The gloopy, grainy, horrible texture just makes me gag uncontrollably. How will I manage without it though?

NinjaChipmunk · 02/07/2012 23:21

Rennies? I think my doc had a few things on her list she could prescribe so if the time comes ask for tablets instead. You might not get much heartburn anyway, I didn't with ds. There are always natural remedies too like milk, peppermint tea etc.

Biscuitsandtea · 03/07/2012 07:13

Stacks I found rennies to be better with this pg than the gaviscon I lived on when pg with ds1. I had a lot of heartburn this time but revenues seemed quite adequate for the job. But as Ninja says there are medicines etc the doc can prescribe. Wasn't Dream on ranitidine or something?

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 03/07/2012 07:26

Yeah you can take ranitadine and rennie or gaviscon tablets, or peppermint tea's fab for wind. But i love gaviscon, mmm fennelly goodness :d

Good luck generic!

JenFraggle · 03/07/2012 08:26

Stacks I don't like Gaviscon and was lucky that I didn't have a problem with indigestion. I was on prescription tablets before I was pg so was surprised that I didn't have a problem. Fingers crossed you will be like me and it won't even be an issue. Good, old fashioned winding also works so if you do get any then as long as you have someone with you, you should be able to sort it out without any medicine.

Stacks · 03/07/2012 08:39

Jen were you on omeprazole? I'm still taking it on doctors orders. Have been a bit worried as the leaflets say its not for use in pregnancy. If you were on it, did your doc tell you to stop?

ScrambledSmegs · 03/07/2012 09:35

Oh, Stacks Sad I was on omeprazole with DD for ages. Indigestion sucks, but it will go, I promise. Are you about 16/17 weeks now? It should start to subside soon. Just remember to keep hydrated, and eat little and often.

I couldn't take Gaviscon either (came straight back up, boak) but found that Remegel really helped as it was chewy and minty. I'm pretty sure it's back in the shops now so stock up!

Don't worry about the omeprazole. I was on it for ages, as were several other pregnant women I knew, and all our babies were fine. I think the warning is for people who are self-prescribing, although it's on prescription so Hmm about that.

Take care x

OP posts:
JenFraggle · 03/07/2012 09:39

Yes, that is what I was on but the Dr just refused to give me a new prescription while I was pregnant. This is the same Dr that wouldn't give me anything for my morning sickness Angry

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 03/07/2012 10:02

My indigestion was definitely worse at about that stage too smegs & stacks, I thought it was a coincidence it had improved though! :)

MW appointment went well - she measured my bump and it was 27cm (am 26+3 today), and the baby was head down today and gave me a swift kick in the ribs when the MW started prodding my belly :o

I have to go and see a GP tomorrow though as apparently Gaviscon interferes with my levothyroxine :( and I got a sheet of exercises for my hip/pelvis pain and the promise of a referral at my next appointment (in 4 weeks) if it's still bad.

Stacks · 03/07/2012 10:51

I've been on omeprazole for 4-5 years, since they thought my bowel cancer was a stomach ulcer instead. I've been trying to come off it but you get addicted to it - I get AWFUL indigestion when I don't take it, far, far worse than I ever had before I was forced to start it. I've at least got myself down to the minimum dose.

MW appointment tomorrow, excited and terrified. Really looking forward to hearing the heartbeat.

ScrambledSmegs · 03/07/2012 11:31

Sorry, didn't realise it was a long-term thing. If your GP says to stay on it, I guess that's the best thing to do? I stopped taking it at around 17 weeks, and had a couple of days of bad heartburn before it subsided. I suppose it would be a lot worse for you though Sad When is your consultant appointment? You could bring it up with them.

OP posts:
Stacks · 03/07/2012 12:00

Most of my family are on omeprazole, and have been long term. It's not a big deal for me, I was just a bit worried about the possible effect on a bean.

I don't have a consultant appointment yet. I've not heard anything about one since my booking in appointment with the midwife. I'll chase it up with them tomorrow, but I assume I've not actually been referred on yet.

I've not had any problem with indigestion yet, probably because of the omeprazole, I'm just a bit worried it'll get a lot worse in the 3rd trimester. It's nice to know it's not only my doctor that's said it's ok during pregnancy though, that was my main worry!

clickingtock · 03/07/2012 13:33

Sorry to hear of various indigestions. Sounds tough.

Brooking for Gen and Olives - you both thoroughly deserve really good news which I'm crossing all appendages for.

Yes I'm due v early Jan though babies are usually late in our family.

26 + 3 - how luffly Fluffster.

DP has actually told his mother via email. Progress on last pg! Can never tell if he's shy or anxious.

I told a friend of a friend on Sun and she was so pleased for me she almost cried. How lovely is that!

Any Ninja action?
