Just nipping in to do some major BROOKING for Ninja, you know, just in case she needs it.......

clickingtock · 29/06/2012 16:36

Of course - how could I not mention Ninja. Perhaps she is only watching Wimbledon though? Or giving birth AND watching Wimbledon? Wink

hawthers · 29/06/2012 16:41

Or giving birth AT Wimbledon.....

tock I found do and new look had some nice dresses when I was pg (not my usual shopping destination but had good mat clothes). Not sure what they've got in this summer though

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 29/06/2012 16:45

I find maternity wear makes you look more pregnant (whereas stuffing myself into normal clothes made me look fat) because they accentuate the tummy area!

I like Dorothy Perkins dresses but they sell out quickly.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 29/06/2012 16:45

...or pretty much anything empire line, as that made me look preggers even when I wasn't.....

Loopyhasanotherbean · 29/06/2012 17:37

i was looking at DP website earlier as after some shorts, but unless it just wasn't working properly, it was saying they only had 17 items in their entire maternity range?!!!! (compared to 360 at new look!!!) still hunting for shorts though, as i swear new looks are designed for skinny teenage preggos, rather than people like me who only want to show their legs from the knee down...and i don't even like doing that really but its getting too hot for wearing jeans and the other things i'd been living in!!!

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 29/06/2012 17:52

It's all in their sale section loopy (why it doesn't show up in the regular section I've no idea)

whimsicalname · 29/06/2012 18:23

Tock I found that in mid preg, wearing a one size larger dress that i would normally describe as 'slapper' was brilliant! In fact I've still got ones that are now 8 years old from now bankrupt clothing chains. I wouldn't have the confidence to wear something clingy normally, but with a bump, you want to show off the sticky out bits not hide them. Well, I did. However, if the slapper route isn't for you, Topshop had some nice dresses if i remember correctly from the quick trawl i did round bristol. Depressingly, H&M don't seem to have changed their stock from 2 and half years ago.

loopy i just got some great shorts from DP. Similarly, i wouldn't normally shop in there, but needs must. I got a pair of seersucker (at least I think that's what it's called) in light grey stripes and a pair that are a kind of bright pastel green. Sort of tangerine green if that makes any sense. I also got some grey stretchy jeans (which I refuse to refer to as jeggings) and some nice blue cotton trousers that will see me through a DC autumn. I'm struggling a bit because my 3 previous pregs were 6 months different to this one, so all my early preg clothes are wintery, and my summery ones are vast.

I love it when you get to the 'looking pg' stage fluff instead of what i refer to (god, I sound like Miranda's mother) as the 'fat and badly dressed' stage. I am very self consciuos of being in the latter, especially as summer is so much hider to hide in!

Still, just got my scan date through for Monday morning, so hopefully can go public at our leaving party next weekend.

tock I keep telling strangers I'm pg, but have hardly told any friends. I feel like I'm practising.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 29/06/2012 18:59

Aww a leaving party announcement, that's a lovely way to do it and bound to get people sniffling! I think I may have the same pair of grey trousers, you clearly have good taste :-)

NinjaChipmunk · 29/06/2012 20:33

evening all, sorry to disappoint but no baby yet. I've had my mum and dad down visit for the day to help me look after ds hence not being on. Hope everyone is well. I'm here on my ball after the mw told me baby was slightly back to back. Sweep booked in for thursday if she's not arrived by then. Right off to give ds a late bath. Laters y'all x

ScrambledSmegs · 30/06/2012 10:54

Morning! Any news, Ninja? No pressure Grin

Stacks I sent you the pattern on Facebook (I hope!) as I couldn't attach a file to the MN message system. Hope you got it!

I did something silly yesterday. I realised I had 5 minutes to post a birthday card before the post went, so I ran to the nearest post box as fast as possible . Now my bump hurts Sad. I think the running pulled something, I feel very silly for hurting myself like that.

Oh dear smegs! Excuse for a relaxing sofa day? I hope it feels better soon :)

Homemade red pepper and lime soup with half a cheese toastie, mmm, it's the small things in life... :o

Biscuitsandtea · 30/06/2012 14:34

Oooh that soup sounds yum Fluff. Would you share the recipe??

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 30/06/2012 15:23

Indeedy :) Btw red peppers are really cheap at Lidl atm, they're only 39p each.

4 large red peppers
1 white onion
1-2 limes depending on how tangy you like it :o
1-2tsp paprika
1 chicken or veg oxo cube
salt and pepper
tsp honey (optional)

Cut the peppers into 1/4s and de-seed, and put in a roasting tray with a bit of oil. Slice the onion in half and peel it, and add it to the peppers. Roast in the oven on 180 degrees ish (or whatever you'd normally roast veg on) for 30-40 mins or until they look soft and roasted.

Put the cooked peppers and onion into a blender (I find it helps to add a bit of cold water) and blend. Pour the puree into a big pan and add water to get it to the sort of thickness/texture you like - I like it reasonably thin. Add the stock cube, and paprika, salt and pepper to taste and heat it through.

Take the soup off the heat. Juice the limes and stir the juice into the soup; you can just have a taste now to see if you want to use 1 or 2 limes (all the recipes I've ever seen call for 1, but I always add 2...). If the peppers weren't very sweet, you can add a bit of honey here as the sweetness really brings out the lime tang :)

Biscuitsandtea · 30/06/2012 15:41

Oooh delicious! We'll deffo be trying that one!! Grin

Merci beaucoup

NinjaChipmunk · 30/06/2012 16:36

Still pregnant, sitting on my ball eating ice pops after seeing more inappropriate houses. still, we've got an entire roast duck, pancakes, plum sauce etc for dinner. Hope something kicks off soon, I'm bored now!
What's everyone else up to?

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 30/06/2012 17:06

I'm attempting to clear 6 years worth of crap from our spare room without pulling anything - I'm not having fun! 2 black bags and 3 charity bags and it doesn't look like I've done anything (except maybe run around flinging paperwork around the room) Confused

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 30/06/2012 17:08

Whatever you do, don't store things in hobbycraft bags - it appears that given a year or two they disintegrate into a fine white confetti :(

whimsicalname · 30/06/2012 19:46

fluff my whole house looks like that. Even though we've got 3 weeks until packers come we've completed failed to tidy up, probably for a month. It's a pit.

clickingtock · 30/06/2012 21:08

Oh dear - I don't think compulsory nesting suits any of us! Good luck with sorting. I really need to chuck out some clothes too. Sooooon. Promise.

Whiims and Ninja (I think) thanks for the fashion advice; yes I may just go for some size 12 clingies for mid pg. New Look was surprisingly good I thought but only from a quick view on the int'net.

Took the fluffy animals from our Trust animal centre to a school 'environmental' day today. The kids loved it. Now I realise why I'm determined to stop the place being closed down. Boy, there was a lot of preggos there - it was nice to think of little beanytock tucked away; I think it would have been heard without a minibump.

Thumping great headache now.

Smegs - rest up; hope it's nothing serious.

Fluff - loving the soup, must give it a go. Am planning to make an Ottolenghi chicken/rice salad tomorrow - involves lime juice, sesame oil etc - quite subtly delicious. We add lots of our homegrown broad beans. Nom etc.

Ninja - brooking for you. Get the clary sage oil burning. x

clickingtock · 30/06/2012 21:08

hard not heard - durr

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 30/06/2012 22:13

Sounds lovely tock I'm broad bean mad atm :d I've been eating them with green beans and lemon juice.. .

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 30/06/2012 22:24

Ps I'm well jel of your day with the fluffies! Were they farm fluffies?

NinjaChipmunk · 01/07/2012 10:29

morning, still no signs of anything here Sad.
DS has his 'meet the teacher' tomorrow for reception which is quite exciting and also his grandma is coming to dinner as well so if it doesn't kick off today we have that to look forward to.
Can't remember what else I was going to say! Be back later when my brain has engaged.

JenFraggle · 01/07/2012 10:34

Have you got an induction date yet Ninja? Obviously we are brooking that you won't need it but just wondering how much longer you have to wait.
