stacks I could do that pre pregnancy. I used to work as a consultant, and would do epic drives, loads of interviews and then a drive home with nothing but coffee to sustain and very few breaks. Getting pregnant and having to think about things like that was a real shocker!

fluff do you find that water just isn't 'wet' enough? I must be getting through hundreds of extra calories by drinking squash and diluted fruit juice. Fortunately we have a soda stream so I can make lots of fizzy juice which helps.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 28/06/2012 20:25

I went right off squash unfortunately, it just tastes of sweetner now :( You know what's really thirst quenching though? A pint of chilled sparkling water with half a lemon squeezed into it - I've been getting through a lot of lemons! :o

I'm currently mentalling because baby hasn't been kicking properly today. S/he's definitely been moving, but less often and with less oomph. I'm sure it's nothing but if it's not picked up by morning I'll call the midwife Confused :(

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 28/06/2012 21:32

Panic over, baby kicking like billyo and making me feel very silly indeed Blush :)

Biscuitsandtea · 29/06/2012 07:57

Don't feel silly Fluff - every single day I had these panics with ds2 and was in for monitoring several times. It is NEVER a silly thing to worry about. You hear me lady? It's also a great excuse to have an hour or two lying on the sofa eating ice cream or high sugar snacks while you wait for them to start kicking Smile. I did this a lot too Smile.

Biscuitsandtea · 29/06/2012 07:57

Sorry meant to say I am v v glad that mini fluff is kicking again Smile

cakes82 · 29/06/2012 09:18

Glad mini fluff is ok. Mine seems quieter every third day, I told my mum and she said at least you may get sleep every third day lol

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 29/06/2012 09:32

:o cakes

Thanks biscuits. Movements definitely have generally less oomph the past few days, but I wonder if its just getting tight in there. I went swimming yesterday lunchtime, so maybe the exercise just chilled him/her out - s/he was bopping away for a good hour and a half after I posted though, so s/he was clearly well rested! I hope she's not an evening person like her daddy :)

cakes82 · 29/06/2012 09:38

Lot of an odd one! Is it normal for a cat to be interested in your breasts? My 2year old female cat seems extremely interested in my busom in general.

Fluff Do you find if you have a busy day you don't feel baby as much even if you sit down for a bit? Thats what mine seems to do. Where I work can get quite noisy sometimes and that seems to make baby move more!

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 29/06/2012 10:08

:o cakes - if you're getting a bit leaky like me he could smell the colostrum? That said, mine are ignoring me pretty much.

I don't really have that sort of busy day often tbh coz I'm lazy Hmm so I'm not sure really...

ScrambledSmegs · 29/06/2012 10:28

cakes don't know about cats but my DD is fascinated by my boobs at the moment too Confused. She likes to squeeze them at inopportune moments, like when I'm paying the bill in a restaurant Blush.

fluff I have a feeling that I'll be having moments like that, don't feel silly. DD was a constant wriggler, but this one only kicks sporadically, when I'm trying to sleep normally! Maybe that means it's going to be a calmer baby than DD that would be nice!, or maybe it doesn't mean anything?

I'd love to know how in-utero (sp?) kicks relate to the newborn baby's activity levels, smegs. I've read that their regular awake periods translate into their awake periods once born - i.e. mine seems to wake up at 8.30ish at night - but I'm not sure how true that is? I'd have thought birth was traumatic enough to shake their routines up tbh!

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 29/06/2012 11:09

Maybe I should survey the graduates :o

whimsicalname · 29/06/2012 11:48

I've never managed to see a pattern with my babies' kicks fluff, or make a correlation between their in and ex utero sleep patterns. All I've managed to deduce is that when you want to sleep, they wake up. I actually think there is some truth in this, and it's not just them being buggers. I think we have a primordial response to be lulled to sleep by motion (imagine trying to stalk game on the savannahs of africa in our pre 'civilisation' stages - you'd want the baby asleep while you moved), and that that holds whether the baby is in or out.

I also think that as all babies are individuals, it's not surpising that all pregnancies are different. I think having 3 the same sex makes you all the more aware of individual rather than gender differences.

My littlest also particularly likes boobies smegs. He likes to squeeze them and say boobies very loudly. He's also not really fussed who he does it to, so my friend Emma is a prize candidate as is my middle son wearing one of those padded superman outfits.

cake we don't have a cat any more, but when I was pg with my first, our cat used to sit on top of my bump and paw it.

clickingtock · 29/06/2012 12:07

Drinks aren't wet enough; food isn't 'food' enough. It's the great frustration. No one can really appreciate what we are going through. Grin Grin

Had the first 'Wouldn't it be great if you had a girl?' comment. I bigged up boys, mainly to be contrary. It will be great to have a baby, girl or a boy. Yaddi-yar, yar. Yawn. But thanks for your interest.

I'm very interested in my boobs, so I don't blame cats or small children.

Is it a big day for Olives? Brooking.

First maternity gear purchased, even earlier than planned but seeing as the scan date put me forward +5 I'll make the most of it. Smile Lovely linen denim-blue A-line skirt, maternity swim cossie, plus v nice mat t-shirt. JoJo MB - far too pricey but never mind. Off for first haircut in months. Crikey, I must be in the second trimester.

Hope the pee-ers are doing ok. Sounds v healthy to me. And how about minifluff - back to acrobatics I trust?

Stacks - good luck at week16/17 app.

scarletfingernail · 29/06/2012 12:14

Fluff no connection here for either DS or DD and their patterns in utero versus post birth. And they were both far more fidgety and wriggly once out.

Where's Ninja today?...

tock it seemed to me that people (mainly those who don't know me that well) were obsessed that I should want a girl because I had a DS already. I wonder if you are more likely to receive comments like that if DC1 is a boy or if those with girls get it equally as much about how they must be hoping for a boy. I've found that now I do have one of each people seem to assume I won't be having any more as "you don't need to now you have 1 of each" Shock I won't be but not for that reason!

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 29/06/2012 13:45

It's really bizarre that people are so obsessed with having "one of each". Kids aren't like collecting football cards ffs Hmm

JoJo have some nice stuff tock I got my swimming cozzie there. I'm currently miffed because I bought a new tshirt from DP last week, and the first time I wore it I stained it :( Minifluff seems to be fine today thanks!

clickingtock · 29/06/2012 14:00

I think you may be right Scarlett - I think people are more concerned for you if you have a boy first that you should then have a girl. Crazy stuff. I think I've always seen myself with boys for some reason (two brothers myself perhaps?), not that I wouldn't love a girl to bits (obv). I've just never had the obsession that I must have a girl, which most people seem to assume UK women of all ages and creeds share... The only thing I think 'one' might miss out on is being a grandma to a daughter's children as that does seem different to being a gm-in-law so to speak. I shall always be extra nice to DS's g-fs because of this! Smile (Within reason of course. Ha ha.)

I would have thought you were a stain whizz, Fluff. Vinegar, salt, Vanish?

xxx

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 29/06/2012 14:25

I'm not fab with stains, and it was a full on chicken-fat splash (big). Did a cold hand wash then vanish then 30degree washing machine and it's still there :(

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 29/06/2012 14:26

...I should add the fat was cold, no injury was sustained!

ScrambledSmegs · 29/06/2012 14:36

I think tock has the right idea, fluff - vinegar removes fat stains. Give it a short soak in diluted white vinegar, I bet that would get it out.

I need some new maternity clothes. Off to browse Jo-Jo!

I will give it a go! :)

Solars · 29/06/2012 16:01

.....Hope you don't mind me popping in, I was just having a peek to see if there was any news from Ninja no?.....

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 29/06/2012 16:10

I wonder if she's busy.......... :o

clickingtock · 29/06/2012 16:26

I thought Jo-jo a tad disappointing, Smegs apart from the items I bought (of course)! I would like something mat but clingy to show off my podge small bump in 4weeks time when we are having a BBQ and telling some of our long-term mates that we are expecting. For some reason, I seem to have told lots of people I don't know v well (mostly mums from toddler groups I go to) and not so many of the long-standing folk. Anyway, recommendations for a gbood bump-enhancer if you would? Grin Fluff - you might have a good dress idea up your sleeve?

clickingtock · 29/06/2012 16:30

Also bought this half price swim-sun-suit for DS. So cute. Except I bought 4-5 yrs instead of 2-3 - by mistake. Shall I just role up the sleeves a little or trek back and see if they'll exchange? Wink
