Fluff's - SOOOO cute.

Smegs - LOL at DD puke-acting in public.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 14/06/2012 11:11

lmfao smegs :o :o :o

scarletfingernail · 14/06/2012 11:31

Brooking for you Cartoon

Exciting news about the house Ninja.

Loving all the pushchair/pram chat. I wasn't allowed a new one for DD Sad so I'm stuck with my Mutsy that I had for DS. It was fine while he was tiny and it is nice as a pram, but the design was a bit crap on the pushchair seat when he was a bit bigger while wearing his winter layers on. He was literally squashed into it by the time he was one. I ended up buying an Out n About Nipper then which I love. I wish I'd got it in the first place it would have saved me a small fortune. DD's in the pram part of the Mutsy at the moment but when she's grown out of it I'll put her straight into the Nipper.

I also bought a Petite Star Zia for DS to use as a lightweight buggy for when we were tight on boot space. I was sold on the fact it was similar to the Quinny Zapp but also had the fully recline feature. I found it very flimsy and wobbly though so I wouldn't recommend.

NinjaChipmunk · 14/06/2012 11:40

so if you found out the owners of yesterdays lovely house we viewed are moving to australia in about 2 months time and have no chain would you be tempted to put in a cheeky offer? We can't afford the asking price (£410k!!) but could stretch to about £375k (bearing in mind we are in sw london/ surrey and I know the last flat down our road which has same floorplan as ours went on earlier this month and sold within 10 days....) We have a second viewing on saturday.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 14/06/2012 11:56

I'd totally do it ninja - nothing to lose! Would they expect/want you to be able to exchange before they go, though?

scarletfingernail · 14/06/2012 12:09

Go for it Ninja Like Fluffy said what's to lose? Ask the estate agent about the exchange thing, they might want it all done and dusted before they go.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 14/06/2012 12:10

I've just ordered yarn to knit one of these.... It won't end up any cheaper, but it'll be hand knit Blush :o

NinjaChipmunk · 14/06/2012 12:30

I bet it'll be lovely fluffy what colours have you gone for?
Well the mortgage broker reckons we can afford around 375K, so fingers crossed we still love it on saturday! Mind you DP has a lot of diy to do over the next week to get ours ready. I've narrowed it down to 2 agents to decide between to sell ours. This baby better not arrive till all this is sorted!

ScrambledSmegs · 14/06/2012 12:36

Go for it ninja! As fluff and Scarlett say, nothing to lose!

tock just saw you're going to crochet a merino sleeping bag! I'm so Envy of talent like that, please put up photos when you've finished it! I would love to see it.

And you too fluff. This fred is positively awash with talent!

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 14/06/2012 13:01

Good luck ninja - you're next in line to pop, aren't you? I will keep my fingers crossed baby is patient for you :) I've just gone for similar colours as I like the colourway, and I'm doing it in DMC Natura which is lovely and not too expensive.

The urbo's just gone on sale - £30 off the pram, and an extra £95 off when you buy with the carseat plus I had a £10 off coupon - so we've just ordered it, hurrah!! Which is just as well as delivery is now not til August Shock :)

GenericDietCola · 14/06/2012 13:29

Hello everyone. I may start tentatively popping in a bit more as I'm feeling more and more positive now after last week's good scan (eek, hope I've not jinxed myself now!) Loving the pram and knitting chat. Sadly I will have to stick to our second hand pram and I haven't knitted for years, so I haven't got much to add!

Tock I have a fat belly bump already and two beachballs strapped to my chest. Mind you, I'm not as slim/fit as you to start with!

Smegs I love the fact that your DD has picked up on your salad addiction!

Ninja I am mega excited about your house move! Hope you get your dream house in time before the owners emigrate.

Fluffy that blanket is lovely - my BIL and SIL have it for Dneph.

I am eating pretty healthily, craving salty things but trying to resist and had to really restrain myself from buying a sausage roll this lunch time. Making do with a salad though and just like when I was pg with DD am enjoying juicy things like tomatoes and cucumber. Still not got an appointment for booking in or scan. Hope it comes soon as I'd like to have a date in the diary.

NinjaChipmunk · 14/06/2012 13:51

yay! gen lovely to see you! When do you expect to hear about booking in and your 12 scan appointment? Sausage roll sounds lush, I'm now really fancying one, bugger the heartburn!
And another yay! for fluff cos you've ordered your pram and got money off it. I've now finished my ring sling, tried it on yesterday to make sure it all works around the shoulder etc but its very difficult to tell as I have a bloody great bump in the way and none of ds's teddies or soft toys are the shape/ weight of a baby! I shall just have to be patient!
Right, important question here - what snacks shall I pack to take to hospital with me? I have a couple of tracker bars and a packet of biscuits so far. These are the last things I need to pack.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 14/06/2012 14:01

What's a ring sling? :)
I love Chedz - little toasts with cheddar cheese - they are going on my hospital list :o

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 14/06/2012 14:07

Sorry, "Chedds" apparently get me trying to be trendy with the z - www.cathedralcity.co.uk/chedds/

whimsicalname · 14/06/2012 14:43

Malt loaf ninja. I ate a whole one after having each baby even though one of them fell out and so I'd only had dinner about an hour earlier

And a sack of coins for vending machines because there might be something that catches your fancy.

Ring slings are super fluff. They're dead easy to make and lovely to carry anything up to a three year old in. I used mine all the time, and would still use it for a long walk piggy back aid.

Glad to see you're feeling more positive gen. Remind me how pg you are? I'm ten weeks now. Still feeling a bit circumspect, but my boobs have grown and are v sensitive and I'm off chocolate, coffee and booze. Wierd. I don't even get a mw appt for a fortnight. I've put on a few pounds, but entirely from just eating continually. It's not really baby shaped, just fat!

Fluff, I'd be delighted to pass on my cot. I think there's also some flat reuseable nappies, a steam steriliser and no doubt a bunch of other stuff we won't take. Oh, like a bouncer chair. I'll run up a list at some point. It'll be good to go the last week of July, so if you can come and get stuff then, it's all yours.

For some reason I've come down with a rotten cold, and feel a bit sorry for myself. And now I need to get the toddler up. Have a good day everyone.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 14/06/2012 14:52

That would be totally fab whims, thanks so very much! Last week of July is fine by me :) :)

clickingtock · 14/06/2012 14:59

Hurray indeed at seeing Gen back in the fold. Big hugs. So great about your scan. And a bump already - attagirl. Trust me, I'm working very hard on not being slim at the moment. Grin

Ooh - crikey - I couldn't think about food during birth or shortly after as was so sick during first stage of labour, but did have an amazing scone, jam and cream courtesy of DP (or perhaps M&S!) when DS was about 4 days old. I ate a lot of soup in early days for some reason. But of course it was different because I was at home. Surely you need a bar of damn fine choc? Some fruit... though not sure how you pack it in a bag at this stage. Oh dear, no help at all.

Fluffs - you need to become a sling queen to know about the multitudinous options. But with the ring sling there is a little clue in the name. Wink Grin

Smegs - hey, why don't I have a go at the merino s-b pattern and if I get it right I could do one for you too? You just have to give my address for delivery when you order your wool online. It is worked in stripes and has a jaunty row of buttons along the bottom, though not with any apparent function so we don't have to add them. I can give you the number of balls of wool required etc if you're interested. And monocolour is fine, a bit easier for me in fact, but happy to do stripes too. Let's PM about it.

Ninja - feels like I'm watching Kirsty and Phil with your house updates. Go girl. Get your bargain dream house. Baby will comply, I'm sure.

xxx

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 14/06/2012 15:10

I have googled ring slings tock :o I actually have a bit of a massive fear of falling over while wearing a sling (well, falling over in general) after doing just that a few years ago, so not sure I'll be going via the sling route Blush

Hi Generic! Glad you're feeling a bit more confident - not long til your next scan, now? :)

ScrambledSmegs · 14/06/2012 15:16

Someone slap me please. I'm in the hospital waiting room and they keep playing an advert featuring the labour ward. I nearly left when I saw it Blush.

tock thank you for your lovely offer, but we already have DD'd old merino sleeping bags, I would feel very wasteful asking you to make me a new one! I will just live vicariously through your pics, if I may?!

OP posts:
FluffyJawsOfDoom · 14/06/2012 15:22

How come you're at the hospital smegs, did I miss something? Shock Blush

ScrambledSmegs · 14/06/2012 15:42

Consultant appointment. I have to keep it together long enough to a) insist that they change my due date to about 1 week later and b) get them to agree to a potential hone birth. Both of which are complicated by the fact that I have DD with me and I am terrified of hospitals. Good eh?!

OP posts:
NinjaChipmunk · 14/06/2012 15:51

Take a deep breath and keep telling yourself you can do it (and bribe dd to behave) because you can. You will be awesome and you will get your home birth.
fluff there is a pic of me and ds in his old ring sling on my profile. Must remember to remove it at some point! He loved it and is most put out that at nearly 5 years old he is too big and heavy to go it it now. Grin Hopefully the new bean will like them too. They are so handy.
Malt loaf! Brilliant idea! And yes to the coinage, we will need it for the car park too unless dp wants a parking ticket.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 14/06/2012 16:04

Maybe keep a few quid in the ashtray ready, ninja?
That's a really sweet photo - can't possibly agree with the no sausage rolls icon though Wink

Good luck smegs I hope it's going well! Why is your due date too early, if it's not rude to ask?

NinjaChipmunk · 14/06/2012 16:17

I actually love sausage rolls, I think that was left on after a thread a couple of years back about greggs sausage rolls and fruit shoots.

clickingtock · 14/06/2012 17:17

Fluff - did you fall over holding a baby? Poor you. IMHO you are safer falling with a baby in a sling than if you happened to fall while carrying the baby. I fell down our stairs with DS once - fortunately I kept him safe while banging my bum on the steps and taking the brunt of the fall, but I've heard a couple of friends' stories of falling and letting go of their DC (not in a sling). Everyone was fine in the end btw. Smile You won't be able to keep your DC in a pram/cot or on the sofa with you all the time and a sling gives you some freedom to use your hands while keeping your baby safe, at body temperature (your body temp is transferred to them, sort of, and is the perfect way to keep them at the ideal temp) and very close to your boobs'smell which is exactly what they love. I also breastfed quite a lot using mine and didn't complain of achey arms like some mums who didn't enjoy slings. DS was addicted to my stretchy wrap sling and did a lot of bonding with Daddy in a more structured sling (men seem to like sling technology, bells and whistles, as opposed to simplicity for us girls). But don't let me harp on. You must do exactly what your instincts tell you and what makes you feel safest. I'm such a pompous old twock sometimes, so sorry if I've annoyed you in any way. Wink

YUUUMMMM to snarlers in blankets.
