Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mrswee · 11/06/2012 16:28

thechick hope all is fine!

DesperateHousewife21 · 11/06/2012 17:09

thechick how did it go with the mw?

chunkychicken v sorry to hear about your niece, really hope she improves quickly.

Who was it that said they have low Papp- a results from their blood test? Sorry my memory is rubbish!

applepieinthesky · 11/06/2012 17:14

Any news thechick?

Thechick · 11/06/2012 17:32

chunky I hope everything goes okay with your niece. I have a sister but she doesn't have any children but I can imagine nieces and nephews are like your own children in a way. Fingers crossed for good news soon.

apple that sounds awful. You are given ths 12 week mark that all the ms is supposed to end but when it doesn't it's not cool. I've heard of people just waking up one day and it being gone. Hopefully that will happen to you soon. If its any consolation, I have to wait until 18th July for my scan. I wish mine was at the end of te month, lol.

mrswee it went well, yay!! I moved out of my drs catchment area 3 yrs ago but still see the same doctor. They knew about it and it wasn't an issue. Your drs aren't being very nice.

I had my midwife appointment today, I did get to hear the heartbeat, sorry that others had disappointing experiences and I had a few questions that she answered. She's a bit non committal though. I'm a bit confused about vitamins and she wasn't able to help. I don't drink milk, have occasional cheese and I take the sanatagen pregnancy vits, but the dr, when I was told I have low iron, said I should take extra calcium and vit d but didn't say how much and this midwife won't say how much either, so need to go back to the doctor. I didn't have bloods taken, I wanted to see if my iron was better after taking iron tablets every day, but she said in the next appointment in 4 weeks. The spotting seems to have stopped, she thinks it's left over blood from implementation, phew!!

Passmethecrisps · 11/06/2012 17:45

chunky that sounds really scary - she's in the right place though. I have found myself reminding people of how serious asthma is. It is so common that people often presume everyone has it in the same way.

I am also with you about the attitudes held by the public. I trained for a half marathon a few years ago and people were quite surprised that my charity was the British Lung Foundation. My dad has severe asthma and has been hospitalised with pneumonia at least 5 times. I have asthma as did my DH as a child. As my midwife said - it'll be breast feeding all the way for me.

My sinuses were really bad again this morning so I ended up staying at home. Feel horrible about it - I hate lumbering my colleagues with extra work. Mind you, I would have been no use to anyone. I have spent the day watching the various babies of my cul-de-sac being wheeled in and out in buggies. There are 9 houses and 5 babies under 1 year old. I have to admit to being a bit Envy. Feels like a long time until I will get to do the same.

Chunkychicken · 11/06/2012 17:47

Thank you everyone again!!

After the equivalent of 300 puffs of ventolin and an ecg, she has made a slight improvement, enough to be moved from resus to a ward, so fingers crossed she continues.

Haven't really had a chance to read everyone else's trials, tribulations, triumphs and so on, so sorry to post & run, but lots to do for the move. So looking forward to the bigger house & garden!!! :) Just a shame it has to be to frantic before hand... Hope everyone stays well and/or gets better/gets the annoyances/issues sorted soon.

Will be back soon... Grin

SwissArmyWife · 11/06/2012 18:04

Chunky How awful for your niece, and you/your family too. I really hope she gets all the care she needs and with any luck improves over time (I'm not sure how asthma works, forgive me, but the people I know with it have gotten better as they've gotten older)
I do hope she's ok.

Apple Try not to worry too much about the baby, as long as you are hydrated and getting something down you, LO will be fine. I hope your sickness improves soon.

Nervous how exciting! We'll be doing exactly the same on the day we (hopefully) find out the sex, as we haven't really bought much yet either!
I had a dream last night that it turned out to be a boy, so we'll see if I have psychic powers or not in two weeks Grin

Welcome Fizzy :)

Thechick · 11/06/2012 18:07

Good luck with the move chunky

Forgot to say earlier Gap as a 50% off online sale including maternity which isn't amazing but there are a few bits. I got a nice maternity skirt from them which is now £9.99
Oh and I bought one of those clothes extenders from amazon which is a little bit unsightly so you do need to wear a long top, but does the trick. I think I can get away without buying any more maternity clothes for now, yay.

And thanks ditsy I might pluck up the courage and just put it on.

ShellyBobbs · 11/06/2012 18:58

Chunkychicken Glad she is on the mend, too true what you said about it being address, it's disgusting!

What is all this badge business? Is this a London thing then? I remember being 35 weeks pregnant 12 years ago and went to London, talk about ignorant b***ds, not one person offered me their seat for the whole of the weekend on the tube (obviously didn't literally spend the whole of the weekend on it :)) and I was absolutely massive.

applepieinthesky · 11/06/2012 19:07

A friend of mine lives and works in London. She worked up until 36 weeks and had to get the tube to work every day. She said not once did anyone ever offer her a seat. Those kind of things are exactly why I don't like London.

Passmethecrisps · 11/06/2012 19:24

Oops, forgot to welcome fizzy. Hi!

Thanks for the heads up on gap - will check it out.

chunky glad your niece is a step towards being on the mend.

Really interesting to read the public transport chat - DH wants us to take a trip to London in the summer when I will be very pregnant. Currently, I drive myself to work so no such issues. Mind you, the commute is giving me back pain but at least I get a seat!

Thechick · 11/06/2012 19:50

Isn't the Baby on Board badge everywhere or is it just London that needs it because everyone is so rude!! Lol!! I've had people look at my bump and then look away, not cool!! I've never been offered a seat.

eversomuch · 11/06/2012 19:54

Maybe I just live on the friendliest Underground line in London, but people give their seats up to me all the time, now and with my first pg, even when I'm not wearing my Baby on Board badge. :)

I'm also not at all shy about asking for the priority seat if it's occupied and I really feel like I need to sit. I just say, "Excuse me, would you mind terribly if I take that seat?" Everyone jumps up immediately; I've never had anyone refuse.

Had my appointment with the OB consultant today to discuss delivery options. Waiting now until my 34-week scan (omg, eons away) to see the baby's position in relation to my monster fibroids. If they're not in the way, I may try for VBAC; otherwise it'll be an ELCS.

Hope your niece's situation improves quickly, Chunkychicken.

Hope you're feeling better soon, Applepie. Prolonged MS sucks.

kirrinIsland · 11/06/2012 20:15

Sorry to hear about your niece chunky - hope she's feeling better soon. And good luck withthe move.

Hope your ms goes away soon apple - it shouldn't be allowed after 12 weeks!

I have a tonne of annual leave to use so will be stopping work at the beginning of October using that, and then starting actual mat leave on the 5th nov, 2 days before my due date. Last time I stopped one week before my due date and DD arrived the next day...

georgee · 11/06/2012 20:48

Very sorry to hear about your niece chunky - really hope she's better soon.

mrswee my friend moved from Stockbridge area to Trinity with her last pregnancy and was allowed to stay with the Stockbridge practice - in fact she's still there after 2.5 years. It is certainly possible in Edinburgh. That receptionist sounds like a horror! And really sorry you didn't get to hear the heartbeat, that is a disappointment. Fingers crossed for some movement soon - any day now I reckon!

apple I agree with everyone else that the baby will be fine even if you're not keeping much down. A friend of mine was really sick until 16+ weeks, not able to keep anything down, and her baby was fine. Really hope it gets better soon though!

TheDetective · 11/06/2012 20:58

kirrin I finish on October 1st with my annual leave, and mat leave starts on 5th Nov, at term + 2!

I am planning on doing extra shifts during my annual leave, as we need the dosh!

I am looking forward to then though as won't be doing full time shifts in those last few weeks!

ShellyBobbs · 11/06/2012 21:02

Chick Lol, it's just a transport for London thing, I've just looked it up. Thankfully I don't have to use public transport so I've no excuse for laughing at anything.

Very achy today but too achy to lie in a bath Confused?

mrswee · 11/06/2012 21:03

Thanks everyone. I will try and talk to my actual doctor rather than the receptionist from hell! I have had to move doctors already but that was because I moved across town. This move I will be out of the catchment by being on one side of the road and not the other, but still slightly closer than I am now, so I will see if I can swing it. I am told that NHS are pretty strict on this but that's good to hear about your friend georgee that gives me hope!

ShellyBobbs · 11/06/2012 21:05

Hubby wants to go camping in France in August. I don't mind the camping bit, he was concerned about me doing that but I told him that my sleep is bolloxed anyway so if I'm not comfy in a bed, I'd rather be not comfy on a blow up in France. The bit I'm not so chuffed about is the drive, ohhhhhhhhh me arse!

ShellyBobbs · 11/06/2012 21:07

mrswee I work with a lot of NHS patients and many I go to have their old family doctor even after they have moved out of the catchment area. In England I believe it's down to the partners of the surgery and their discretion, that's what a partner told me when I asked.

Hi everyone!

I haven't been on the thread for a while, the laptop broke and I prefer postin on that but looks like I'll have to get used to posting on my phone.

Can't believe so many are at 20 week scan stage. Mine's 3 weeks tomorrow at 19+4 seems ages away. We're not finding out the sex.

Had the 16 week appointment on Friday and she found the heartbeat although it took a while as I have an anterior placenta. I still haven't seen my midwife though, she's been off sick since cancelling my booking appointment. So far I've seen 3 different midwives.

Is anyone suffering from PGP/SPD??

izzybizzybuzzybees · 11/06/2012 21:15

Mrswee i am also in scotland and was forced to change GPs a couple of years ago. I had moved out of the catchment area before and had been allowed to stay but when i moved for the 2nd time I was told the NHS is tightening up on catchments etc and i HAD to register with an alternative practice and that if i didnt a new one would be chosen for me!!

Hope you get it sorted tho!

ILane81 I have been looking at when to stop for mat leave also. I am due mid november but work in NHS and am on my feet all day pushing/pulling heavy equipment and patients. I stopped last time at 34 weeks and am thinking of stopping earlier with this one! I have a bad back and last time had SPD so thinking that coupled with bad back means not good to keep going. I figure 6 weeks or so at the end of my leave i wont really miss!?

GTbaby · 11/06/2012 21:45

manage to get through the long day with very little sleep.
took a pic of bump, and happier with how bump looks in picture rather then in real life. i always think i look better in pictures then in RL and i guess it works for my bump too!

went to see physio today, he can confirm i have weak hips, but not that i have PGP which is the same as SDP he says he says m pains are nit clear cut. so i have a few exercise to do and gota see him in a few weeks again.

oh well. im now annoyed as my bra is really uncomfortable Angry
waiting for MIL and FIL to go to bed so i can take it off :(
