ShellyBobbs · 11/06/2012 10:18

Right, sent DH, thanks.

MissMummy1 · 11/06/2012 10:22

Has anyone else been getting sore joints in their hands?? Not sure if it's connected to pregnancy or not, but my hands have been so sore over the past few days. Thought it was perhaps because of my rings and the fact all my fingers seem quite swollen. Have removed all except engagement ring which still fits perfectly and still no change. It's both hands too. Maybe completely unrelated, just thought I'd ask!

horseylady · 11/06/2012 11:01

Scan thurs were finding out if we can.

With regards to lifting, im lifting what I'm comfortable with, which is still pretty much everything!! Probably not over as greater distance!! I didn't sleep last night, couldn't get comfortable!! Plus we'd done a 6 mile walk then had a big tea so think it just lay funny :(

kirrinIsland · 11/06/2012 11:01

Morning all :)

I can't believe our 20 week scans are starting - how fast has that gone!?

I'll be finding out - I'm too nosy not too, there is no way I could leave that room not knowing when they could have told me! Having said that, I'm a bit worried that they won't be able to see again, like on my 16 week scan, cos the baby was moving so much and the cord was in the way!

My DD (18m) is going through a real whiney, clingy stage at the moment. She just want me to carry her everywhere and my poor back just can't take it. I hope it doesn't last too long!

No bloods at my 16 week appointment the chick

Hope your balance sorts itself out soon shellybobbs your probably right that it just needs to catch up with your bump!

applepieinthesky · 11/06/2012 11:07

Thechick I had more bloods taken but only because they weren't happy with one of the tests they had already done and wanted to retest it. I'm now on vitamin B12 tablets twice a day because my levels were too low.

ShellyBobbs · 11/06/2012 11:16

I had a burning/achy pain right across my groin from hip to hip last night, I just know that I've got it for the duration now. I'm seriously considering finishing work a lot earlier that I previously thought, last time I was in an office job so managed until 2 weeks before, but now I'm in the community doing all sorts of tasks and assessments, in and out of my car and stupid hours - up to 14 hours long with breaks in between in some cases. Thinking more of finishing about 34/35 weeks now.

When is everyone else finishing?

NervousAt20 · 11/06/2012 11:32

Morning all :)

lilliana I wonder what's to heavy and what's not, I've picked things up and other people are like noo you can't do that Confused

Oh shelly I hope your ok

chick at my 16wk appointment the MW never took bloods just told me results of last bloods and checked urine, blood pressure and listened to baby heart beat

We'll be finding out the sex on Friday at 20 week scan, can't wait no what's in there but nervous to make sure everythings okay with little one too then afterwards me and DP are going to go baby shopping :) haven't really brought anything yet other then a few small bits

I'm not impressed, waiting for DP to come home from work so I've made breakfast but he's late and going cold :(

applepieinthesky · 11/06/2012 11:53

Feeling sick again this morning Sad Think I'm going to throw up. I have actually lost weight in the last couple of weeks because I keep being sick.

StuntNun · 11/06/2012 11:58

MissMummy it's normal to get oedema (swelling to you and me) in your fingers now and later in your ankles and feet (hello support tights in the Autumn!) If you're in pain e.g at the base of your thumb or any numbness or tingling then it could be carpal tunnel syndrome. I wore splints at night in my last two pregnancies to keep my wrists straight and it cleared up a couple of weeks after giving birth.

misslaughalot · 11/06/2012 12:09

Just back from my 16 wk appt with the MW, what a let down. Just took my blood pressure and tested my urine.

That was it.

They don't listen to the heartbeat until after the 20 week scan apparently, I was gutted Sad

Oh well, 22 days until my scan...

applepieinthesky · 11/06/2012 12:26

I'm a bit worried with being sick so much and losing weight about the baby getting everything it needs. Tell me it will be ok?

fizzymoon · 11/06/2012 12:42

Hello girls! I have only just joined but due 25-11-12 and looking forward to lots of forum chats/support/giggles! I think I'm having a boy, partner thinks girl but keeping a yellow bump until D day! Smile lovely to meet you all!!

fizzymoon · 11/06/2012 12:44

Ps applepieinthesky- I'm 16 weeks and still vomitting. Have lost 17lb since conceiving but have just recently (very slowly) started gaining again. Baby gets everything from you and so it will be just you that's suffering. Don't worry too much just try and eat when you can Smile

StuntNun · 11/06/2012 13:09

Apple sorry to hear you're so poorly, I x-posted with you last time. Baby will be fine, they take what they need and you get what's left. My mum is a Manchester health visitor and she sees drug addicts that give birth to perfectly healthy babies.

OP posts:
applepieinthesky · 11/06/2012 13:42

I'm used to the sickness now. As long as baby is ok I can cope with it. Just wish my scan was sooner, it's not until the 28th.

daisychain76 · 11/06/2012 14:09

Hi fizzy and welcome. Good to read all the team blue and pink. I was determined not to find out at the scan (2 weeks tomorrow) but now am wavering - I want to buy cute baby clothes and not just in white and yellow! (not that I need them - kept every single thing from DD and DS).

I am feeling lot less sick now, but eating complete rubbish as if to make up for the couple of months of crumpets and crackers. Just had half a banoffee pie with my lunch and got a tub of Ben and Jerrys stashed away for tonight. My slight excuse for the ice cream is that it does seem to get the baby kicking. Don't want to put on all the weight I lost being sick, but give me another fortnight and I reckon I will have!

mrswee · 11/06/2012 14:36

misslaughalot same here! very dissapointing 16 week appointment!

So ladies, the midwife refused to listen for the heartbeat today at my 16 week appointment. My usual midwife was on holiday, I may have been able to persaude her as I know her from my last pregnancy too.
I told her about the lack of movement and she said I wouldn't have felt movement at 14 weeks like I have and not to worry as I have a 20 week scan booked anyway Hmm
Also found out that I will have to change my GP surgery and midwife in september or october when we move house even though I am only moving 5 mins down the road and actually closer to the surgery!!!
I'm feeling quite down about it really. I am really happy with my surgery and I have tried the other local two before going to this one because the other two were terrible.
Argh

Chunkychicken · 11/06/2012 15:06

So moving day tomorrow and I'm in work today and what happens? My niece is rushed into hospital, seriously ill with her asthma. So bad that the Dr was talking about putting her on a ventilator. She has made a marginal improvement now she's on oxygen, back-to-back nebs, intravenous ventolin & 2 other drugs/steroids and a Dr I'm attendance ALL the time but she's still dangerously ill. Can't imagine how my sister must feel. :( :(

horseylady · 11/06/2012 15:14

Mrswee they can't make you change. You have a choice where you want your care. Tell them you'll change after you've had the baby, it's grown up etc.

Chunky, sorry to hear that. My sister is a really bad asthmatic and has had similar attacks, been in resus etc. I really hope she's ok. Makes you remember what a serious condition it is. Keep us updated

Apple people keep telling me the baby takes all it needs. Maybe speak to your midwife though as it won't be doing you any good. They can give anti emetics for morning sickness. May well be worth it.

mrswee · 11/06/2012 15:31

chunkychicken* sorry to hear that, sounds like she really is getting the best care though porr wee thing. I have asthma and it is very scary when is all kicks off.

horsey I hope you are right, not sure it is the same in Scotland though but I will try to find out.

The receptionist is a witch at my doctors, in fact both of them are. I casually enquired about my new address while waiting to see the midwife and said I might be moving around september to this address, she said it was out of the catchment.
I spoke to the midwife about it and she said that we might be able to sort something out. She asked me to make a doctors appointment on my way out in 6 weeks at 22 weeks as I have shared midwife/doctor care.
I went to make the appointment and the receptionist refused until I could tell her exactly when I would be moving!!! Which I had already told her I didn't know exactly when but it would be around september/october!

She also refused to give my free prescription form when I first went to annouce I was pregnant. She wanted to know exactly why I needed it even though the dotor had just told me to ask her. So I had to say in front of a huge queue that I was pregnant and then she said well you don't need it anyway as prescriptions are free in scotland, to which I replied, yes but the dentist is not!! honestly... what a pain she is! I won't miss her anyway but I will miss my very helpful doctor

Thechick · 11/06/2012 15:32

I'm waiting for my midwife now. I had some brown spotting this morning but it's stopped now, but they darn well will be listening to the heartbeat.
I have a question. Are any of you all wearing your baby on board badge. I feel for me it's a bit too early, but I'm not confident enough to ask someone for a seat and I am fairly tired in the mornings. I have a bump but you can't see it completely with my coat on.

applepieinthesky · 11/06/2012 15:34

How awful chunky. Hope she improves soon. I'll have my fingers crossed for you.

I have asthma as well but fortunately mine isn't too bad and I don't have to use my inhalers every day. DP still worries though in case it causes me any problems during labour but I don't think there's any reason it should.

Chunkychicken · 11/06/2012 15:50

Thanks everyone. I haven't heard anything to the contrary, so fingers crossed she's improving...

Unfortunately asthma is all too common, both for those that suffer & for the response my niece gets - her school barely acknowledge her absence at times, yet she has been near to death/in the resus/ventilator situation on 4 occassions & she's only 10. The regimen of drugs & puffers she takes is unreal!! She is, according to the nurses at the hospital, the worst case in the region, & although referred to Kings for specialist support, they have done bugger all!! It angers me that her asthma is so severe & yet she gets no real support - if she had (god forbid) cancer or something, she'd have charities set up for her, get well cards sent home, praise lavished on her when she was actually in school (& all quite rightly) but because its "just" asthma, nobody gives a shit. Stepping off my soap box now... Blush

ditsygem · 11/06/2012 16:09

Chunky that sounds so stressful, I hope she improves soon.
Thechick i put my baby on board badge on when I am travelling on trains I know will be very busy. I have to say lots of people ignore it anyway, but I actually think this is the time the badges are most useful when I'm in the 'can't quite tell if she is fat or pregnant' stage and feeling very tired and yucky.
I almost fainted on a tube the other day and I was sat down so really don't want to take that risk stood up if at all possible. As the midwife said to me the other day, you have think like 'mum' and do whats best for you and baby. But I know what you mean - i could never actually ask for a seat which is why the badge is a nice inbetween option i think.
