Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
DesperateHousewife21 · 09/06/2012 06:55

Congrats to your aunt apple :)

A word of warning, I don't know if anyone watches eastenders (I gave up on it a while ago because it got too depressing) but coming up is a horrible storyline about Janine and her baby so I recommend giving those episodes a miss.

rowingdowntheriver · 09/06/2012 07:38

This thread moves so fast! I dip in when I can but have only posted about 3 times so am a bit out of touch with everyone's news and any new people.

Thanks for the pre-warning about eastenders. I don't like the programme but watch it religiously. Can't help myself! I wanted to stop during the baby swap storyline as had just had DS1 and found it way too emotional to deal with. Instead I just carried on watching and getting angry with the producers!

Pregnancy is going ok at the moment. I've a bit of lower back ache and a fair amount of growing pain so it hurts to walk up stairs or even walk for a long period of time but it is not too bad.

I'll be 20 weeks on Monday and can't believe I am half way through the pregnancy. My scan isn't until the following Monday though.

Ah, DS is awake, I'd better get up and attend to him Smile

rowingdowntheriver · 09/06/2012 07:38

Growing pain? I mean groin pain Smile

ValiumQueen · 09/06/2012 07:41

Re MatB1 cert make sure you check your mat policy so you get it submitted in time otherwise you will not get paid. Last time I handed mine in at 22 weeks and the manager still had it after the baby was born. I did not get paid so phoned him up and threatened to follow him home and move in so he could feed, clothe and house all four of us. I was paid the next day, but if it had been my fault, they would have had every right. Do not let lack of appointment with MW hold things back. Pester power works in the NHS.

Dtd twice yesterday. Very sore after having an 18 stone hunk of a man on me. Need to think of other positions I think. Bump very sore today. Not surprising really.

Scan a week tuesday for me too. Thankfully DD1s birthday party is proving a great distraction.

After bleed last week I cannot bring myself to buy a double until baby arrives, as I know if I lost this one I would never have the chance to try again. I have most things anyway. I may feel different after scan, and gender scan which I will arrange for about 26 weeks or so.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 09/06/2012 07:52

I too am quite keen on Dtd, but like some of you I think DH is a tad squeamish a bout the whole thing. We had to stop at this point last time because of placenta preavia (Is that how you spell it?) and I think he thins that's what one does! I thought it was just me not getting any and everyone else was raunching all over the place so quite relieved to see these posts.

I though you didn't get your mat b1 till about 25 weeks? Maybe all areas are different.

DesperateHousewife21 · 09/06/2012 08:13

I had placenta pravea in my last preg but we were never told to not dtd Confused it moved up in the end and was all fine anyway.

StuntNun · 09/06/2012 08:16

I couldn't find the AIBU thread that has people all riled up. Such a nosey nun! Wink

OP posts:
notatschool · 09/06/2012 08:43

(It was the AIBU one about teachers coming back from mat leave just before the summer hols. Someone's colleagues had been bitching about it.)

My SIL did this, I just thought she was really lucky!

Iheartpasties · 09/06/2012 09:11

Hi guys,

I am in Australia, someone asked me :) But I am cornish :)

I got my hair cut today, lush. Just nice ti try and look nice! We had lunch out and that was also lush. My DH is skyping with his parents, so I'm hiding resting in the bedroom. DH bought some trainers for our dd today and she is clomping around in them , very cute.

My scan is on tuesday, cant wait.

Oh ladies, on friday i went out on a mission to buy a cot duvet for dd, it's winter here now so i want her to be warm. Anyway i set off in the car, with sat nav on my iphone and a very low battery which was stressing me out, and it took an hour to find this bloody baby wharehouse shop, and i went past it, and had to turn around and find my way back again and anyway i got there and it was closed!! I just wanted to cry! We've only recently got the car so its a bit daunting going out and i definitely needed the sat nav and the traffic was awful. im not used to city driving with three lanes, i'm a country girl who's used to sheep etc in the road and tractors! anyway - i fely very sorry for myself!! so daft.

Chunkychicken · 09/06/2012 09:15

I don't get why not actually (not read the thread though) - the school doesn't lose money, they're not paying for maternity at that point anyway, & once a teachers is back, the HT can get you to work - planning SOWs, GCSE/A level results etc, all things that go on during the summer hols that I will NOT be doing next yr!! Also, teachers don't accrue annual leave, so how is it different to other professionals putting their annual leave on to the beginning/end of their maternity? It's funny how bitchy women get towards their fellow professionals, when usually they've forgotten how cushy they had it, or are just jealous that they don't get time off!!!

Wish I worked for the civil service - 6mths paid leave? Yes please!!! Grin

DesperateHousewife21 · 09/06/2012 10:45

Im having a girl!!!!! Grin I'm soo happy!!

Kyzordz · 09/06/2012 10:52

Congrats DH!!! :D

Lilliana · 09/06/2012 10:57

Congrats on joining team pink DH, really pleased for you.

Ahh not going to get started on that thread again ... must sit on hands!

(But yes Chicken I would love 6 months paid Envy)

Pasties I'm with you, much more at home with dirt tracks and the odd sheep! I can manage plymouth but wouldn't dream of driving in a big city [scared].

Rowing do you have SPD? Sorry too tired to look at the stats , is this your first? Did you suffer last time? I hope you're ok and it eases off.

Does anyone else have pains when they sneeze, cough, move suddenly? Right down in the pelvis so thought it was just things stretching, but has been going on for weeks now.

Dh is home later today, yay! Hoping he might be in the mood and not put off by my huge belly...

NervousAt20 · 09/06/2012 11:15

Congratulations desperate Grin

Oh good, thanks Lane. Being my first I have no clue what is normal and what isn't so it's good to have you ladies to ask.

rowingdowntheriver · 09/06/2012 12:02

Hi liliana I'm not sure if it is SPD, I'll have a google to try to find out. It is painful in the crease where my leg joins my torso from from to back and feels quite deep. Do you know if there is anything that can be done about it? It 's not unbearable but I'd rather not have it.

This is my second baby, my first is 15 months old and I had exactly the same with him. It stopped almost as soon as I had him and came back almost as soon as I got pregnant again, before I even had a bump.

I'd love to find out what sex the baby is but my husband would like it to be a surprise. We found out with DS so now it's DH's turn! Am jealous of those of you who already know!

SwissArmyWife · 09/06/2012 12:22

Oooooh congrats DH!! Lots of pink shopping for you then Grin
I love baby girl clothes, I have a slight obsession with red and white baby clothes actually, no idea why!

rowing I have the same thing as you, in fact, my first is also 15 months and exactly the same happened/is happening to me. Only it's worse this time round with a toddler to run around after!

I'm just having lunch with my feet up at the moment while DD naps. I am absolutely starving all the time now - anyone else feel like that?
Trying to keep it healthy with fruit and veg (no peppers though ha!) but all i'm craving is chocolate cake!

ShellyBobbs · 09/06/2012 12:35

Pasties It was me that asked where you lived, knew there must have been a Cornish connection, I love Cornwall :) How long have you lived over there? We were thinking of going at one point, but unfortunately life got in the way.

I really cannot be arsed to DTD although hubby is up for it anytime day or night. I have to throw him a pity one every now and again. I remember getting massively randy with my first at 22 weeks, so that's a beacon for him, although it didn't happen with the last 2, here's hoping!

Having really bad trouble sleeping now, and I think that that's it for me now, I'm a rubbish sleeper anyway, but now I'm uncomfortable and once I get to that stage, then that is it until baba sleeps through :(

I had a really, really horrible dream last night. I dreamt I had the baby early, about 32 weeks and SHE was really ill, they found out that she had a heart condition and put her on the transplant list. She had a successful heart transplant but died soon after. That will teach me to watch any sort of telly before I go to bed, there was a thing on the local news about spinal muscular dystorphy and that it was the number 1 infant killer in the North West!

On that note I'll bugger off now I've depressed everyone, but just be warned that the baby dreams are starting..............Shock

ShellyBobbs · 09/06/2012 12:36

And congratulations DH a girl, is that our first girl? Hubby is quite chuffed that it seems to be boy season.

WestWinger · 09/06/2012 12:53

DH a little girl!!! Yay!! One of each - congratulations!

Chunkychicken · 09/06/2012 13:28

Congrats DH hoping I'll get one of each too, but I could be joining you on team pink come November :)

That groin/hip pain that people are getting (too lazy and/or busy to name check, sorry) is the start of SPD. I have it in my right 'crease'. Just be careful about how you move & it should be manageable. I see the chiropractor anyway, which helps me keep my pelvis in alignment, but gentle exercise & the tips others have recommended (see Stuntnun's recommendations) should mean it goes after baby comes. :)

applepieinthesky · 09/06/2012 14:09

Yay DH Congratulations on your little girl! For years now I have wanted a little boy but recently I have been thinking a girl would be amazing. So many pretty things you can dress them in.

DesperateHousewife21 · 09/06/2012 14:45

Thanks everyone, I'm so pleased in having a girl. Having one of each will be amazing, our family will be complete we always said we'll only have two children.

There was someone on the thread (sorry can't remember who!) who is having twins and they were both girls. Not sure if there are any others.
