Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mrswee · 07/06/2012 16:38

Hi georgee thanks!

We are in the middle of buying somewhere right now. Just waiting to sign on the dotted line which i hoped would be this week but looks like it might be next. The other solicitors seem to be really bloody slow at doing anything! We have a lot of work to do so won't be moving till around september but are due to get the keys in mid july.

Reassuring to hear you haven't had movements yet either. You are at the same stage as me, most other seem to be a bit further on.
I've just used it as an excuse to eat a snickers.. still nothing so I can't use that excuse again!!

I am really surprised that my appointment seem to be on time this time, last preg they were all out by about 2 weeks. Are you also dealing with Leith CTC?

mrswee · 07/06/2012 16:39

Hi thechick thanks! :)

applepieinthesky · 07/06/2012 16:42

mrswee I've had no movements yet either and I'm 17 weeks tomorrow.

izzy the mw found the heartbeat at my 15 week scan so fingers crossed you get to hear it but if not don't panic.

applepieinthesky · 07/06/2012 16:43

15 week appointment I mean. Don't know why I had to see her at 15 weeks Hmm I had the scan and mw appointment in the same week then nothing for a month.

DesperateHousewife21 · 07/06/2012 17:01

nervous nope not got a clue what's in there! It'll be a total surprise and I'll be happy either way.

I haven't felt kicks much recently but I listen to the hb every day now, it's so addictive and I can hear baby kicking with the Doppler so I know it is kicking I just don't feel it much yet! Still only 16+2 so that could be why.

I was thinking at this stage of my preg with ds I moved into my flat I've got now and i def had a little bump then. I don't remember if I was feeling movement though.

daisychain76 · 07/06/2012 17:07

I am feeling quite a lot of movement, but that's mainly cos this baby wakes up in the evening when I'm sat down (slightly concerned what this will mean for sleeping patterns when its born!) - I think if you have one that is more lively in the day, particularly with your second, you are so busy it is much harder to notice.

Really excited cos getting my pram delivered tonight - it is a second hand one from a friend. I know its a Mammas and Pappas one and has a car seat and can be forwards or backwards facing as a pushchair, but can't remember that much else about it. Part of me is disappointed I can't road test loads of prams, but I am paying "mates rates" for it and going to use some of the money I'm saving on the nice Fisherprice play centre which has a piano keyboard for the baby to kick.

The superstitious part of me wanted to wait til after the 20 week scan, but the rest of me just wants to buy loads of baby stuff! November still seems so far away though....

TheDetective · 07/06/2012 17:08

Ditsy I feel a bit sore and 'battered' down there! Its right by my groin, where my legs and abdomen meet! It just feels tender! I was complaining to DP yesterday as he wanted to go upstairs to the mens section in Next, and I didn't want to walk up the stairs because I knew it would hurt! He won, and it bloody well did hurt! Ouch!

Measured my bump last night, and I'm measuring 20 weeks, even though I'm 18+5 according to scan dates. I know this baby is gonna be a big one! DS was 8lb 5, so expecting a 9lber this time!

He's still not active, not like he was. Barely felt anything for a good 5 days, had 2 definite movements 2 days ago, but nothing since!

Anyone else noticed their nipples have gone darker? I remember this with DS! I hated it, and rubbed it off late in pregnancy believe it or not! I can't understand how, but I did! Doesn't bother me this time!!

I've also noticed that I can't eat much any more! I have to stop when I don't even feel full! I just feel like I can't possibly eat any more. It makes me tired to eat! I'm not even doing the little and often thing, its little at regular meal times! Just ate some pizza, and it was all I could do to manage 3 slices! We went out for tea last night and I was practically crying at the table because I couldn't eat any more, and for the price we paid, I wanted to bloody well finish it!

2 weeks today and its our 20 week scan :) I'm on nights again now for the next 4. Just grateful for the rain this time around! It was awful in the hot weather! Love coming home and getting in bed when everyone else is going to work in the miserable rain!

izzybizzybuzzybees · 07/06/2012 17:22

Hello everyone, midwife said that they dont listen in to baby until 20 weeks now as it was causing people to worry when HB couldnt be heard and they were having to send people up to hospital to get checked out cos they were so anxious. She said she could try if i wanted tho, so i said id like that and understood we might not hear anything. She placed the probe on my tummy after having a quick feel and straight away we heard it! such a lovely sound! didnt hear it for long as baby wriggled away!

georgee · 07/06/2012 17:45

mrswee best of luck with the house buying, sounds almost there now! Exciting! We on the other hand saw a house at the weekend, realised we were in no position to move, decided to put our house on the market and hope it shifts! Should be in The Scotsman next week. So we're far behind you.

Yes my due date is two days before you and nothing here so far - you expect to feel it earlier don't you because you know what to look for, and in both scans we've had so far the baby seems very active (much more than our first) so I was definitely expecting something by now! A Snickers is a good idea under any circumstances though. Have another one.

Yes, Leith CTC, bless em. How funny if we had the same midwife. Now that IS unlikely!

NervousAt20 · 07/06/2012 18:13

ditsygem Ive been feeling abit sore a tender to when I sit on the sofa and try and get up

izzy I had my MW appointment at 17weeks and she listened then do hopefully yours will too :)

I started taking calcium and omega 3 today and the calcium tablets are horrible, I have to chew them, there lemon flavored and make me feel really sick for hours after :(
18+4 today and scan a week tomorrow Grin can't wait!!

NervousAt20 · 07/06/2012 18:14

Oops didn't see your other post izzy Blush glad you got to hear tho Grin

Peaky1 · 07/06/2012 18:43

Horsey. I'm no expert with prams but after testing out loads I found that I liked the Quinny Buzz travel system (though the car seat element will not be used as a pram with mine, just a car seat! I'm a fussy paediatric physio ha!). I've found a good local discount store that do it for a good price. It's a 3-wheeler and has quite chunky back wheels and I'm told it's useful for more off-road and people who walk lots. Everyone has different preferences (and budgets) though so take a deep breath and spend some time in a shop with loads of prams and a nice assistant who'll spend the time with you. It took me a few trips to find someone with the time and to try out a few but there was even a nice lady at the baby show that made time for me. Go for it! X

applepieinthesky · 07/06/2012 19:02

My auntie is in labour! She is due tomorrow with a little boy. She got married last year and this will be her first baby. I'm so excited Grin Can't wait to meet him.

horseylady · 07/06/2012 19:36

Yeah I just need to make the time peaky thanks!! Looks a good pram!!

Detective I'm the same in terms of eating :( feel uncomfortably full quickly!!

StuntNun · 07/06/2012 20:21

Anyone that isn't feeling movements try drinking a can of ice-cold Coke then lying down in bed quietly and still. Between the caffeine and the cold liquid and the extra oxygen from lying down baby will get moving like you wouldn't believe.

OP posts:
Kyzordz · 07/06/2012 20:24

how exciting apple!

I'm having the eating lots at once problem too, I'm actually quite full on those little WW frozen meals, which, if anyone has had them, are little more than a sneeze and usually not something that would fill me up! I had one the other day and was stuffed!

Bought my first blue thing today, it's just a little vest with 'I love daddy' on it, but I HAD to buy just a little blue something Blush. However, my legs feel like they're going to fall off after walking round town, and tbh I didn't even think I'd walked all that much!

MissMummy1 · 07/06/2012 20:47

mrs wee I'm bang on 15 weeks to and not really feeling anything. Thought I did a few weeks ago - like you - but was probably just imagining it. Still early days re-movement so trying not to worry myself!

We (yes DH and I!) are both using the babycentre app - it's great!

Went to see a new house tonight. I loved it - it wasn't perfect but was in a family-friendly area (Yellowwellies same street as my mum's house pre move and your sister's) and had a massive garden. It really wouldn't have needed much to make it a great family home but DH put his foot down and said no. Mr Architect can't see past the flaws... cue hormonal strop

We've also been looking at travel system's now I've finally convinced him it is a bit of a necessity. Budget, practically, etc I think we both like the Mothercare My3. It's got 3 big chunky tyres so would be great for our lifestyle and we can clip a carseat onto it. It was really lightweight but not too flimsy - if that makes sense(?) and folds up really neatly. We'll see :)

notatschool · 07/06/2012 21:00

We're going to need a new pram too. Have a Phil & Ted which is battered as has gone through 3 DCs now. I love it and would def recommend, brilliant off road, but will have zero boot space with all the seats up in the Zafira so need one that's smaller when folded (the P&T is ginormous) plus we don't need a double any more. I have a Quinny Zapp which is also good but can't use it from birth.

applepieinthesky · 07/06/2012 21:09

MissMummy I really like the look of the My3. It's about the same price as I am paying for mine and very similar in that you don't need a separate carrycot to convert it from a pram to pushchair. I wanted something that's good quality and will last a while but can't afford the £6-700 some of them are.

Lilliana · 07/06/2012 21:16

We've looked around a bit and like the uppababy vista - think this will probably be what we go for although we haven't ordered anything yet.

I keep trying to feel movements when I'm lying down but everytime I think I feel something I think it is actually my heartbeat Blush Maybe I'm trying too hard. Hope I get something definate soon.

No worries nervous I heard the idea from someone else :)

I seem to have pulled a muscle between my legs Blush Not sure how and didn't know I could pull a muscle there! Really painful though and doesn't seem to be getting any better. I'm generally quite flexible and have found myself struggling to sit cross legged and then get up etc.

SwissArmyWife · 07/06/2012 21:33

Oooh prams. I've been stressing over getting the new pram.

The only one i've found (and tried out) that suits what i'm going to need (double, with a carseat/carrycot for newborn and seat for toddler) is the iCandy
Peach Blossom. Want want want!
The price is just unbelievable though (around £1000!!) so will be looking on Ebay for one when we can eventually afford the bloody thing!
Seriously - there are too many out there to choose from and they are so overpriced it's ridiculous.
I really like the Quinny Buzz travel system but obviously it is not made for two children! Shame really!

notatschool · 07/06/2012 21:39

Lilliana it couldn't be SPD could it? Hope not :(

The Quinny Buzz looks great, and there's loads on eBay.

Lilliana · 07/06/2012 21:44

Yep, very expensive but my lovely mum and dad have said they want to buy the pram for us, not sure if they know how much they are though - maybe will ask them to make a donation and we'll pay the rest.

I don't know what SPD is Notatschool thanks though will go look it up, it just feels really strange and I've had it for a week now and it seems to be getting worse not better. I though I had pulled something while dtd with DH (sorry TMI) but I'm not so sure now.

notatschool · 07/06/2012 21:56

Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction

I got it towards the end of pregnancy with DC3. Difficult to move or walk much, so my lovely mum took kids to park and forest while I sat at home snacking. DD2 weighed 9lb 10oz at birth - she was a cake baby! Blush

izzybizzybuzzybees · 07/06/2012 22:01

Liliana the vista is on our list. We seen the uppababy cruz at the baby show recently and liked that too, basically the vistas little sister more suited to urban life! we also like the oyster. Its so hard! I know i want a separate carrycot and love these 3 prams but there is a big price difference...

Oyster £395 including the colour pack for both pushchair and carrycot
Cruz £498.99
Vista £569

:( i wish it was just as simple as choosing the cheapest but im so muddled i dont know!
