Am sat here shitting myself in preparation for leaving for my scan in an hour arrrggghhhh. To top it off I finally got rund to dropping in a urine sample this morning and despite not having any symptoms of one I DO have a UTI so they are putting me on a course of Cephalexin. I am firstly not happy about having to take meds when I pretty much have avoided everything this pg, including caffeine and secondly mad at myself for not dropping one in sooner - could a uti have any detriment on a foetus?? Confused.

God I feel sick, and it's not morning sickness now, don't know how I will hold it together for the next couple of hours - such horrible memories are flooding my mind, I just wanna get it over with and am praying for good news.

Olivetti · 24/05/2012 14:02

Good luck Chloe - let us know how you get on.

I keep on falling off the stats thread! Sad Am due 18th Dec

PurplePidjin · 24/05/2012 16:26

Good luck, Chloe55!

for those worrying. We're so nearly all at the "magic" twelve week mark

I'm a youth worker and tonight's my evening. I've been working on the same project for three years, know the young people pretty well, and tonight I will be Telling Them. Scared and excited in equal measures - there may be screaming :o

It's going to be interesting taking 6 of them to Latvia for a week at 22 weeks gone...

Clarella · 24/05/2012 16:55

Woop! Only just back took blooming ages with consultant.

Baby doing great, waved and wriggled (id over done the water so it was v uncomfortable!) were given loads more pics than paid for and am due 26 Nov! (id always actually known it would be 25th to 27th as cycles are 25 - 27 days. Midwife said 1st Dec!) So 13+3 now :)

Thyroid is pretty shocking so they tested for antibodies too and put up to 225. That's 100 extra pre preg and i still don't even weigh 9 stone even with extra cakeage. He wasn't overly concerned about baby now but would be in future esp if antibodies. He said its better being slightly over mediated to get tsh below 2.5. What's yours minipie? They still have never done t4 on me ( even after the request on Monday) cos apparently its actually not a good and stable reflection on what's going on. He said he'd have put me up by 50 when tsh was 5.1 at 8 weeks instead of 25 if that helps. Also said no reason I couldnt have seen him sooner (!! Try telling the gps!)

Think there's an ikea bed that has a side that drops so will turn into a bed when older. Still less than 100quid.

Relieved and tired. Hope everyone else ok xx

EggsMichelle · 24/05/2012 16:57

It's official, I'm having a December baby! Had my scan today, due the 6th, very exciting!

Queenofsiburbia · 24/05/2012 17:18

Going back to ivana's comment about being as worried about keeping the pint of water in as about the scan - I was the same! When I went for mine I was in so much discomfort the midwife couldn't get a pic and sent me to the loo. She told me that the damn letter saying to drink at least a pint is a massive exaggeration and they just want you to be normal (i.e not full, not empty).
I've got to go for another (scan, not wee) as was actually 11 weeks not 12. Good news for christmas pressy baby but bad news as its annoying going backwards - like snakes and ladders!!

Still, free earlyish scan tho'

Chloe55 · 24/05/2012 17:31

GrinGrinall is well in the chloe tummyGrinGrin due date is 7th dec. Thanks for the support over past few wobbly days.

lauraloo09 · 24/05/2012 17:34

CODwidow · 24/05/2012 18:54

So glad everything's gone well for everyone. Fx mine goes so well in a fortnight Grin

Clarella · 24/05/2012 19:10

It's all lovely news but hard for those waiting - I found on the Nov thread everyone seemed so much further on (and didn't understand half of it) now feeling bad for being so far on and on here! So totally understand where those of you waiting for scans are right now. Fingers crossed for you all xx

Chloe55 · 24/05/2012 19:37

I know what you mean Clarella the waiting is hard-and I imagine even harder in 6mths time when some of us have popped and some of us haven't!!

minipie · 24/05/2012 19:44

Hi all. Scan this afternoon with mixed results - size all fine, baby wriggly and all present and correct, however I have high risk for Downs (1:104 so not that high but still over the 1:150 boundary). Sooo, deciding what to do next (private scan, CVS, etc). Might not be around much the next few days...!

clarella my TSH is 2.35

OP posts:
Clarella · 24/05/2012 20:04

minipie, your tsh is spot on but make sure they are monitoring you - push for consultant if you've not had yet as could creep up. I thought they wanted it 1.5 but he said below 2.5 is good.
hope you work out what you want to do re cvs etc - not easy. we changed our mind and didn't have any tests done but definately a totally personal choice, everyone has to do what's right for them.

Mummycox · 24/05/2012 20:18

Mars ice cream. That is all.

NaomiRuth · 24/05/2012 20:19

Just catching up on the news. Congratulations to everyone with good scan news and fingers crossed for those waiting. Thinking about everyone feeling sick / worried.

I've been absolutely exhausted, struggling with work and commuting. Nausea persisting all the time, just forcing myself to eat. Despite not eating proper portions my stomach is getting bigger and everything is very uncomfortable! Surely this can't be the baby as it's only raspberry sized!! Going to take the plunge and buy some looser maternity dresses for work.

Good news though as had an early scan on Monday and instead of being 8 +1 was 9 weeks. Fits with earlier ovulation date, so now due Christmas Eve. Proper scan in 3 weeks so will see if that confirms or changes again.

Booking in tomorrow morning!

Hope everyone has a good end to the week and enjoys the sunshine.

Chloe55 · 24/05/2012 20:53

mummycox ditto Grin

itsMYNutella · 24/05/2012 20:55

Yay to all the good news from the scans!! Mine still feels ages away suppose it gives me mor time to come round to the fact that in about 7 months I'm going to have a small person to look after.... Been reading about newborns today (in between working & napping) skipped over a few chapters of pregnancy horrors; made me really excited. FINALLY!

Poor baby, I've got a lot of improving to do in regard to planning and organising!! :-)

Cookiesandcream06 · 24/05/2012 20:57

I want a Mars Icecream

Melon isn't cutting it now!

itsMYNutella · 24/05/2012 21:01

I feel really bad because this poor bean was totally unplanned. OH is getting really excited now and kisses the belly goodnight, I've wanted kids for a while but now I'm terrified! So much to learn!
Going to be contacting all the mothers I know over the next few months and bugging them endlessly too. :) I'm so happy to have mumsnet!! :o

CODwidow · 24/05/2012 21:29

I want ice cream now!!

StrawberrytallCAKE · 24/05/2012 21:39

Oh my god. 6 months? Oh lord. Chloe you're right aren't you? 6 months is no time at all I am now totally and utterly freaking out.

SeymoreButts · 24/05/2012 23:20

minipie what's the next option they have offered you? A repeat scan might be a good place to start? Although you may have to pay for it. If you are near London, I can recommend the Fetal Medicine Centre, I went there and it is really good. I'll be thinking of you. Lots of hugs coming your way. Remember those are still long odds, a close of friend of mine had less than 1:10 and her little boy did not have downs syndrome.

I had a repeat thyroid test 2 weeks ago, my TSH went down from 3.5 to 2.46 so I'm not going to be monitored from now on. Perhaps I should ask them keep checking? I'm not on meds.

Congratulations to all those who've had their scans now. I've got mine on Tuesday and the triple blood test for Downs this morning (they do bloods and nuchal scan here). I'm 12+1 today and only feeling sick in the mornings, what a relief!

Walnut8 · 25/05/2012 04:57

minipie, seymore is right, they are still long odds. A repeat scan does sound like a good first option if you can afford it. It's good that all else is well, too.

Happy for everyone else and their good scan results.

Countdown on for mine ... 5 days now.

Had dinner with friends last night and almost told them. We were discussing when everyone was thinking about having their next child, I said, yes we are thinking about it. A lot! But I know from experience it is absolutely shit telling everyone early and then having to tell them something has gone wrong, so I managed to keep my lips shut. Hopefully all goes well and I can tell them all next week.
