SpottyTeacakes · 06/06/2012 14:51

I've just slept for two hours Grin better wake dd up or she won't sleep tonight!

mytime777 · 06/06/2012 16:15

Hi ladies

I was wondering if I could join?
I had my scan today - amazing and can now allow myself to get excited now that it's all real and happening !
I'm 12+ 5 and my edd is 14th dec
Grin

ellliebelle · 06/06/2012 17:01

becca i had my 1st dd whrn i was 20 was pregnant at 19 and i totally understand what you mean about people being a bit funny about being pregnant young and i find it wuite funny now when these same disaproving peoplr often praise me and dh on our parenting :)

it really doesnt matter how old you are and as long as you know that try your best to ignore others opinions x

ellliebelle · 06/06/2012 17:02

congratulations and welcome mytime

beccabubbless · 06/06/2012 17:27

queen ahh, okay, so they do it if they have time after essential checks; which is valid! i thought some scanner.. people were just nasty ;) aha.

anyone debating getting a private scan to find out the sex if you dont find out at your 20 weeks?!

ellie im glad someone else has been through this, sometimes i do feel a bit like a DD myself on these forums >.<
i always wanted DC young anyway, because i wanted to leave myself time for a career later, and i wanted to be energetic with my children!!

SpottyTeacakes · 06/06/2012 17:30

With dd they offered to tell the sex. I also have four weekly scans after the 20 week one so plenty of opportunities to spot a mistake!

Clarella · 06/06/2012 18:07

Congratulations mytime!

There are far too many people with food related names, makes it so hard not to crave random foods on this thing!

StrawberrytallCAKE · 06/06/2012 18:12

Yes yes I am getting a sexing scan but at 17 weeks.

I was 25 when I found out I was pg with dd and looked much younger, I was the youngest in any class I went to by around 10 years so I really sympathise with you. You don't need to justify it to anyone, the choices you make are your own. Do you have any friends with children? I didn't and didn't really make any so I would definitely recommend trying to find women you can bond with and meet after you have your lo. Until my friends had things in common with me again we drifted for a while and they found it hard to understand how much my priorities had changed.

spotty preggo brain strikes again, I think we have discussed this before but are you having the extra scans for the same reason as me? Cervix related?

StrawberrytallCAKE · 06/06/2012 18:12

cake Grin

ivanapoo · 06/06/2012 18:18

Hello Bristol people! Lots of babies called Wurzel in Dec then?

I bought prunes today as having horrific "problems" after weeks of being smug perfect pooer, however then this afternoon after salad and fruit for lunch I ate A WHOLE. JAMAICAN. GINGER. CAKE. To myself. The big size. I'm such a dickhead.

Scan tomorrow afternoon, should be 12/4 but secretly hoping I'm a leetle bit further along than that...

SpottyTeacakes · 06/06/2012 18:20

Nope I'm diabetic so they keep an eye on the heart and baby size I think Confused dd was 8lb at 36 weeks Shock

SpottyTeacakes · 06/06/2012 18:29

Good luck ivana Envy of your scan!

brooke89 · 06/06/2012 19:01

Becca, I'm 23 and feel exactly the same, it's actually putting me off telling people! Someone said to me today "oh your going to keep it?" really upsetting to hear I actually turned around and raised my voice, after 2 miscarriage my partner of 6 years and myself would very much like this baby! Angry

ivanapoo · 06/06/2012 19:05

Brooke that's awful! Some people are incredibly insensitive... Who said that to you?

CODwidow · 06/06/2012 19:09

Ivanapoo I'm also hoping they say I'm a little further soo worried they'll put my dates back. But then as long as everything's ok I guess Smile

Cookiesandcream06 · 06/06/2012 19:09

spotty I can't remember exact numbers but had two blood transfusions and an operation to remove heavy clotting from within uterus as they couldn't make it contract back down even with all the hormone stuff.

becca I was 20 when DD was born, I will be 24 with DC. I look quite young still and get some funny looks (DD looks a fair bit older than she is as well) At every antenatal thing I went to I was 15 years + younger and I really didn't enjoy it and it put me of going to any mother and baby groups etc. I took DD to a toddler group and felt like such an outcast yet again so sadly that has put me off big time. I am determined to put these sorts of feelings aside a bit more with this DC as I feel like I really missed out.

Private scans- I've already got one booked !! I've got my date for 20 week one at hospital- 20Th July, but have a Babybond one booked just incase! Plus always wanted a 4D with DD so I've put my foot down (brattish I know, but I really wanted it!)
Ahh sorry for long post.. Blush

brooke89 · 06/06/2012 19:17

Ivana - Someone who works in my office, won't be offering cups of coffee her way in future!

ivanapoo · 06/06/2012 19:26

I'd make her lots of coffee with laxatives in

COD exactly, I guess it will give me a few more days to save some money ;) going to try to have baby on 12.12.12 because that way I people won't forget his or her birthday!

ellliebelle · 06/06/2012 19:43

becca i would definately agree with what strawberry said about making friends with children. my dh forced me to go to mum and baby groups which i was very nervous about and all the other mums were at least 10 years older than me however 5 years on and i still have some very good friends from that group :)

cookies its a shame you had negative experiences with baby groups with your dd i would definately say try not to let it put you off this time

i have to say im expecting some interesting comments about the fact ill have 3 children at the age of 25. not that i mind as i know my children are loved and well cared for :)

brook i cant believe anyone would say that to you :(

CODwidow · 06/06/2012 19:46

I'll have 5 at 28 but I think I've proved to everyone now that I'm not doing a bad job. (not my words but others )

At 13.something weeks my nausea is finally on the way to being gone... just as long as I remember to eat a biscuit before I get out of bed. Now my reason for not being able to finish a meal has changed to being because there isn't enough room in my abdomen! I'm not complaining though, it's still much nicer. Hope everyone else's goes soon too.

Surprised people are being funny about women in their early 20s being pregnant. Nothing wrong with that! Health-wise it's probably the best time for it. I'm only 30 and feel like it's on the late side in some ways, if I wanted a biggish family.

FriendofDorothy · 06/06/2012 19:49

Heh. I would have given anything to have kids in my twenties!

PurplePidjin · 06/06/2012 20:01

I'm 30 and most of my friends have either got it done by now or haven't started yet. 32 seems to be the norm (Mum, Gran, MIL, best mate, several older friends)

Mind you, both dp's and my friendship groups are very mixed ages - early twenties up to 80s. Also, he's 17 years older than me...

SpottyTeacakes · 06/06/2012 20:05

I'll be 25 next week and this will be dc 2. I have friends younger and older but this is the right time for us Smile

Chloe55 · 06/06/2012 20:06

Welcome new ladies, you have picked a very busy thread Grin

chips I have/had a uti, also given cefalexin, back at midwife tomorrow though as still have protein, leukocytes, ketones and blood in my urine Hmm

Thanks again for the dh advice ladies, it's nice to be able to facelessly share that info.
