Lysettes - poor you at your booking appointment!
Quite a dramatic way to tell work!!

As for my job - am intending on having a career rethink as don't want to return to this job. Intending to take a year off and then look for something 2 days a week.

Mabel - arh, sorry you are feeling so sad about the MMR, am sure all will go ok.

HellKat · 16/03/2006 15:40

Ok that was worth it...............not lol.
Had the most pitiful excuse for a snowfall ever but........ the sky is pure white so there's still hope. If we get a big flurry, guess who'll be out in it? Grin
Lysettes- Wow!!! At least you don't have to tell work. Poor you though! Try and relax.
Bens-Can't believe you're nearly 16 wks! I agree this pg is flying so far.

kreamkrackers · 16/03/2006 15:47

hi just come on quickly to say my sister had a scan today and all went very well for her. the sac's back to being normal shape and they've dated it and told her everything seems fine. such a relief :o:o:o

noodlekitkat · 16/03/2006 16:54

I am due in August but am sneaking a quick message in here to other 1st timers.

IMHO you should really book any NCT, midwives, doulas etc. you may want now as in my recent experience I have seen them all get booked up between week 11 and week 16.

Good Luck and a Happy 2nd Trimester to you all - nearly there!

mabel1973 · 16/03/2006 17:35

KK - great news about your sister :)

Well the MMR was quite ditressing for us both, but it's done now and he seems fine. When he felt the needle he did that horrible thing they do where they can't quite get their breath for a few seconds to scream, so when the delayed scream came it was a whopper!

As far as work goes, I gave up after I had DS, had every intention of returning, but my company treated me so badly I couldn't face it, so we moved back up north tightened our belts and I look after him full time. I am sure I will return to work in a few years, but enjoying my time with him. I Realise that although it's very tight at times, I am still lucky to be in this position.

tassis · 16/03/2006 20:14

Mabel - sorry the MMR was tough for you and your wee guy.

Good news about your scan pol25

puppy - sorry to hear you sickness is back. I had a bad day yesterday and as a result I ate an incredible amount! just couldn't stop eating (didn't really help, but couldn't stop myself!)

we had a few snow showers here in Central Scotland, but nothing serious. very cold though. We had about 14 inches on Saturday night and it's almost all gone.

I had a year off work with ds, then returned 2 days a weeks for 6 months but my heart wasn't really in it and I found leaving ds in chldcare tough. We moved when he was about 19 months and that was all the excuse I needed to stop for a while. Def want to go back at some point, but I love being at home for now and SO EXCITED to go back to the baby stage.

Does it fit you ever - WE'RE GOING TO HAVE A BABY?! I have to keep reminding myself!!

tassis · 16/03/2006 20:15

meant "hit" you ever in last line! Blush

puppy · 16/03/2006 20:43

Ohhh thats fab news kk, having been keepig my fingers crossed.

I think that all the time tassis, still in shock.
My morning sickness is not that bad.

mabel I hope your ds has gotten over his mmr, how is he?

Hi noodlekitkat, welcome to the due sept thread, feel free to join in.

Can you all believe that theres a due december thread been added today Shock

calvemjoe · 16/03/2006 21:05

KK, such fantastic news for your sister, I'm so pleased for you.

Sorry I've not been on for a few days. I've had that bug ds has had and it's really wiped me out. Norms and Home, I really feel for you, I've been ill for 4 days and I don't know how i'd cope with hg.

I had my scan today and my dates have been confirmed. I'm 15wks 2days and I'm due on 05/09/2006. Beanie was awkward and refused to lay sideways to get an easy picture but we got one eventually and it was amazing. Ds was an angel, perfectly well behaved bless him. Also had bloods and my triple test done. Next scan on 11th of april when I get to meet my consultant to discuss vbac.

Hope everyone is ok x

puppy · 16/03/2006 22:54

oops just noticed your from august thread notanoodle lol automatically read that you were due september Blush, these pg hormones and i am blonde aswell dangerous combination Grin

good news about your scan clavemjoe, hope your feeling better.

Marls001 · 16/03/2006 23:16

Yes - benjaminsmum - the iv & continuous monitoring (strap across stomach) was the WORST for me - even more of a nuisance than labor pains!! I'm already talking to Dr. here about not having the strap on this time - they say it won't be necessary except if pitocin's involved (God forbid).

Still SO out of breath and tired! Doesn't help DS up at 6:30 today ...

Lysettes · 17/03/2006 08:31

Morning everyone!

Pleased to report that we had about 10 snowflakes this morning, so it's officially snowed in London Grin
HK I'm thinking of leaving and going P/T somewhere else as i can't really see any light at the end for flexible or PT here - shame but it won't be my number one priority!

KK that's great news

Mabel - your poor chap - I bet he was ok once the screaming stopped though? Not looking forward to having to go through all that.

So we have 5,6,7 september due dates - how exciting!

I have gone from eating nothing to piling it away - breakfast this morning was a toasted bagel, bacon sandwich and OJ (still I guess it's one fruit!)and I'm still hungry Blush

Have a great day everyone! Hope you all have lovely plans for the weekend

HellKat · 17/03/2006 08:48

Morning all.
Lysettes- I'm always hungry at the mo and have to substitute crap for healthy stuff otherwise I'll have doubled my normal weight in a few weeks Wink I'm still scoffing choc occasionally and the latest one...........toasted cheese with a splash of worcester sauce mmmmmm.
Puppy- Blonde here (lovely colour straight from a bottle) so totally get the blonde/pg thing lol Grin
Cal- great news about the scan!!!
KK- Wonderful news about your sister. That's fantastic hun xxxxx

Bella23 · 17/03/2006 09:22

Morning

Kreamkrackers - wow fab news about your sister, what a relief!

Calvenjoe - lovely to hear your scan went well, its so lovely to see them on screen, wish I had been able to relax more at mine, oh well will try for the next one.

Also eating like a pig! I definately have a bump now which I am loving to see although realise that I probably just look a bit lardy to those that don't realise I am up the duff.
My boobs seem to have had a growth spurt this week as well, hope they calm down a bit as don't think I can handle massive ones!

Lysettes - must have missed the snowflakes, just looks a bit grim and freezing here in SE London.

Well 14 weeks today, hoorah so officially in the 2nd trimester - right will be watching every day for that "bloom" that you hear everyone talk about. Judging by the 2 great big spots that have sprung up on my chin I guess its still a little far off yet!Grin

mabel1973 · 17/03/2006 09:31

Hi All

DS is fine after his MMR - a chocolate Fredo and a spot of Calpol sorted him out and he seems in good spirits this morning - if a little bruised.
Tassis - I completely forget I am pg at times - i think with running round after DS all day I just don't think about it, I remeber being completely obsessed and thinking about it constantly when I was pg with him.

am 15 weeks today :)

calvemjoe · 17/03/2006 10:07

Thank you for all your nice wishes, I'm feeling much better today thankyou.

Have put my scan picture on member profiles, titled calvemjoe's scan picture for anyone who wants to see it, sorry, but I couldn't resist.

Marls, I get asthma and it's been much worse with this pregnancy so can understand the breathlessness, although it is supposed to be a sign that you are having a girl.

Hellkat, lol at the cheese on toast with worcester sauce, I'm having worcester sauce on everything at the mo. Dh is getting fed up with every meal tasting the same!

MAbel, I'm glad your ds is ok. mine had no reaction at all to his mmr and I stressed for weeks about it.

For those of you talking about yoga the other day, there are no classes in my area apart from when i'm at work so i've got an antenatal yoga video and i've done that a couple of times. It really eased my backache and it helped me to sleep x

Coriander73 · 17/03/2006 10:19

Hey,

I was lying in bed this morning & am sure I could feel what can only be described as lots of bubbles & fluttering going on! Now, I didn't feel DD until 18-19 weeks & I'm only 14 weeks today so surely it's too early but I can't think it can be anything else? Did feel quite exciting though!

Seem to have regressed somewhat in the evenings. Was beginning to feel better but the last 4 nights have been pants again. Can't eat any supper etc. Again with DD it went on until 18 weeks so maybe I'm just heading down that route again? It's just that I've had enough arrgghhhh!!!!!

Talking of feeling pg etc, I do feel guilty that I'm not thinking about this baby as much as I did with DD. Neither is DH paying the same attention but people with second children tell me it's quite normal as you have so much else going on & don't really have time to think about it but I feel bad anyhow. Perhaps when I get bigger & do start to feel the kicks etc I'll be more aware :) As for work, I know I can't go part-time or 4 days a week so have made the decision to take drop in salary & look elsewhere. My company has been so so bad at supporting Mothers that want a more flexible timetable that I've decided it's not worth it anymore. My female boss (39, director, no kids, hates those that have them...you get the picture)did say that if I want part time it'll have to in an adminstrative capacity on much less salary!!! There's also the question of childcare, which I'm sure is an issue for alot of you! Currently we pay £500 a month for just 3 full days a week (DH has her for the other 2 days which is great for them both but not me as I miss her!) & there is no way we can afford a grand for both of them so that's forcing our hand too. Gosh, it's so hard isn't it?

Woodelf · 17/03/2006 10:36

Good news about your scan calvemoe, and kk you must be v relieved about your sister Smile

Bella, am also 14 w today and spots seem to appear at random! Have slightly itchy ones like heatrash on the backs of my hands - is that normal? They came up yesterday but have gone down a bit today.

Missed any snow in London...it just looks dull out there.

Cori, Angry at your work, I had no idea the world was still so anti women and mums in this day and age! Where the hell do they think the next generation of workers will come from if women aren't brave enough and determined enough to have families despite the odds! And they wonder why recently many have put it off till later because we are financially penalised! Arggh the patriarchy Shock

Rant over, oops sorry!

Coriander73 · 17/03/2006 11:01

Don't get me started!! I said to my boss that effectively she was asking me to chose between being a Mother or having a career because in her eyes I can't have both. She said she wasn't! I said she obviously was as why, if I want to go down to 3-4 days a week to spend more time with DD, was I only allowed to come back as an adminstrator (no disrespect to those that are) rather than continue in my present role as export sales manager?!! She still insisted that she isn't forcing me to make that decision but if I do want a more flexible timetable then it can't be working in the role that I've built up over the past 6 years...when with some rejigging it could be done.....arrrgghhhh I HATE HER!!!

It'd make you laugh even more if you knew who I work for....:o

Bella23 · 17/03/2006 11:04

Calvemjoe - might invest in a yoga dvd then as my lower back is starting to play up when I lay down.

Woodelf - mmmm, rash on the back of your hand? Strange, it could be due to dry skin as my skin, especially my hands has gone really dry so perhaps slather on some cream and see if it goes away.

Coriander - I go from thinking of my pregnancy constantly to completely forgetting about it. Banish the guilt, total waste of an emotion in my book and one which us women have by the truckload! As for people like your boss, agree with Cal - where do they think people come from ffs!!

compo · 17/03/2006 11:10

calvemjoe - congrats on scan Smile
Cori - I am shocked by your employer!! It is outrageous in this day and age.
I went back part-time after ds to my old professional job but just couldn't gt into so packed it in but now work Saturday mornings in the same place. The little bit of extra money comes in handy and there's no stress involved!!
Went maternity trouser shopping today and feel so disheatened. Nothing fits. In H&M the Medium is too tight on thighs Blush and the Large is way too big (can't understand why they can't do 12/14/16 etc like everywhere else) Dotty P's too long. Need to go to Mothercare I think. Topshop was awful - all under the bump and hipsters so everytime I would have bent over I would have showed my bum to the world!!

compo · 17/03/2006 11:20

Oh yes forgot to say, 14 weeks tomorrow and still feelig sick Sad It can only get better!!

Coriander73 · 17/03/2006 13:37

So Roobedoo...Ipswich huh?! Did you have the last one there too?

tassis · 17/03/2006 14:19

that's funny mabel - a chocolate Freddo is my ds' best treat/bribe at the moment too!

woohoo coriander - I can't wait to feel movement. i didn't feel ds until almost 20 weeks and not until it was proper movement. I'm really hoping to recognise the "bubble" sensation this time! Can't believe your boss Angry Go on - spill the beans and give us a clue who you work for [nosy!]

compo, have you looked at the non-maternity longer line tops that are in the shops at the moment? I've got a couple of long tops from Primark that are fab for covering my newly flabby not quite bump! Otherwise suggest next, verbaudet and blooming marvellous... Formes is gorgeous if you want to spend a lot! I went into a Formes the other week and nearly fanited at the prices!!

tassis · 17/03/2006 14:20

jojo maman bebe is the other fab one. I got their catalogue and could spend a lot. Gorgeous toddler stuff too...
