wow Puppy! I was a bit freaked out because on the printed sheet of info they gave me afterwards it said "Fetal Heartbeat - No" even though the sonographer pointed out the heart beat to us!! Also the nuchal fold measurement was 1.4mm which doesn't mean anything to me. They took bloods at the same time and i think unless they ring then we just assume everything is okay but does anyone have a measuremtn that i can compare it to?

puppy · 07/03/2006 11:55

Compo i'm afraid i can't help on the measurements but the fetal heart beat bit will be a typing error. Smile

Anybody want two dogs? Driving me mad today, yapping at everything, smelling as they are wet due to the rain lol. can't eat my pork scratchng in peace. Love them really.

mabel1973 · 07/03/2006 12:15

awww puppy - your little person!

compo - i wouldn't worry about the heartbeat thing - I thnk I had that happen last time. I prob just means they weren't checking it as part of the scan, even though they pointed it out to you.
don't know about the measurements though..

Coriander73 · 07/03/2006 12:19

Great news Puppy & Compo! - & to everyone else too who has had their scans!! Compo, can't help with the measurements....am sure all is fine though :) I have my 14 week bloods next week & depending on those will be offered a NF scan if we want. Last night DH & I both discussed what we would do it we knew the bubba had DS or something...to be honest, we really don't know & I suppose unless you're faced with it you can't possibly imagine how'd you feel.

On a more positive note, the last two days I've felt slightly better!! Not getting my hopes up yet but maybe, just maybe we're turning the corner? Have had a thing for Snicker bars at the moment..naughty naughty!!

katiejane68 · 07/03/2006 12:43

Snickers, naughty, naughty! Haven't they got peanuts in? Actually now you've mentioned then I really fancy one too!

Congrats to all who've had their scans - how exciting. Mine is this Friday, I am quite anxious really. Can't wait to see that all is OK and then I can shout it from the rooftops.

Hugs to all xxx

Bella23 · 07/03/2006 13:17

wow puppy !!

Question - Has anyone had an appointment through to see/meet their midwife yet? I haven't heard anything so far and just wondered when it would be?

homemama · 07/03/2006 13:43

Hi everyone!
Awe Puppy! Smile

Coriander, I think you should check about the NF scan as I'm pretty sure I was told it had to be done between 12wks and 13+6wks. I'm sure if you google it, it will tell you.

Compo, with DS, the NF measured 1mm and we were given odds of 1 in 50000 (the lowest they will give) so I think 1.4mm is fine. I seem to remember her saying something about worrying when it was over 3, but I may be wrong on that so I don't want to worry anyone.

How far gone are you, Bella? I'm sure you should have seen someone by now. Ring the surgery to ask.

Well, I'm quite chuffed today because I'm able to eat, albeit only shortbread but it's better than forcing down the odd bit of dry bread and hoping not to see it 2mins later.
Hope everyone else is well.

puppy · 07/03/2006 13:46

Hi Bella, I had to make the appointment to book in with midwife myself, its this friday am looking forward to it.

puppy · 07/03/2006 13:47

oops forgot to thank you all for the awwws and wows Smile

Bella23 · 07/03/2006 14:11

Thanks Homemama and pupp - I shall phone the surgery and ask.

OOh shortbread - now could do with a bit of that, yumSmile

HellKat · 07/03/2006 14:20

Appt was great!!!!!!!!! Listened to hb again Grin. Talk about feeling like Í'd been checked thoroughly. They're not taking any chances and have requested so many tests to be done. For the near future, I need swabs done every 4 wks to rule out infection (incase it brings on pre term labour), had to have 4 lots of bloods done, including anti body checks cause I'm Rhesus Neg. Got to have diabetes checks at 26 wks to. She put me ahead a day, so back to Sept 14th and my tum measured 13 wks already lol (only 2 days over).
Literally felt like I'd had a whole overhaul & mot!!

Grin

All this talk of food mmmmmmmmmmmm.
Puppy- Awwwwwwwwwwwwww. Bless little beanie! All you can see on my 9 wk one is her fat tum Smile

Normsnockers · 07/03/2006 14:39

Lovely to hear about all the reassurance being gained from scans etc.

Apparently I don't need to see the community m/w now until 25 weeks as I have my two next appointments at the hospital.

My B.P. is still higher than normal but I could feel my heart pounding as I got near to the G.P.'s surgery. Wee normal though, hurrah, and I have suppositories to look forward to to sort out constipation. The joys of pregnancy !

Bella, I think you should 'phone the surgery and ask about seeing the m/w. At this rate you'll be 20 weeks and have seen no-one.

Homemama, so pleased you can eat a little something again. Hopefully the drugs are working and you can get back to healthy eating in the near future.

Coriander73 · 07/03/2006 15:09

That's great HK!! Glad you are feeling a bit better HM & yes I'll check it out re NF scan. Puppy meant to say earlier it was lovely seeing your scan :) BTW...eating peanuts is ok isn't it?!! I have had quite a few snickers bars recently but think it's just a temporary fad.....a few days ago it was anchovies in vinegar with garlic...:o

Bella23 · 07/03/2006 15:37

Can I just say YUK Coriander !!!!!!!!!!
Anchovies in vinegar with garlic - how ??!!

HellKat · 07/03/2006 15:44

Cori- They're fine unless you or your partner have asthma, ezcema or nut allergies. I love anchovies anyway and they sound yummy in vinegar & garlic Grin

HellKat · 07/03/2006 15:47

Had a bit of a panic a little while ago. Ds2 (23mths) fell straight onto my tum! Shock Felt a bit of pain but think that's because his head is so heavy! Oh the joy of being pg and having a toddler lol. Definitely taking it easy for the rest of today

Angeliz · 07/03/2006 15:47

HellKat pleased to hear all is well and you're getting the care you needSmile+

Angeliz · 07/03/2006 15:48

Obviously i meant medical care there not toddler care. Posts crossed Grin

TopBanana · 07/03/2006 17:00

Congrats everyone whos had reassurance with scans and tests Smile. Its great just to know everthings fine.

I’ve got a terrible cold and dds given me conjunctivitis Sad so not feeling too good at the moment. Got this week off work though so at least I can try and have a rest.

I got a load of breastfeeding books and leaflets through the post this morning, I think they’ve come from the hospital!! I told the midwife at my booking in appointment that I wasn’t going to breastfeed this time, I think shes trying to change my mind Shock Shock

Lysettes · 07/03/2006 17:14

Normsnockers - great they haven't signed you off!

Good luck to everyone else waiting for scans and appointments.

I'm a bit confused now - asked my consultant (I don't get to see a midwife because of my blood pressure) about bloods for triple test and he said after 14 weeks is ok - I'll be 17+1 at next appt when I have bloods taken - is this ok does everyone think???

mabel I hope you watched trash TV all day long Grin

and puppy - wonderful!!!!! I nearly cried it's a lovely pic Blush

have a good evening everyone
xx

Marls001 · 07/03/2006 17:50

Due in Sept. also ... we have a triple-screen test this coming Monday - it's a compromise; I actually wanted to go straight to the amnio. If it's not less than 1 in 600 chance of Down's, I think we'll go ahead & get the amnio, just for peace of mind. My cousin has Down's, so it's been pretty up-close and personal for me ... I know exactly what we'd be getting into and doubt I could handle it. So wish us luck ...

mabel1973 · 07/03/2006 17:51

lysettes- i did get a bit done round the house, but also managed to squeeze in This Morning, Loose Women and Ready Steady Cook - :o
I have been told to book an appointment at 16 weeks for my triple test as apparantly this is the optimum time, so I guess 17 weeks is not unusual.

Bella - I would def phone your sugery. I have seen my midwife twice already - Have you not even been booked in?
Although I know with DS (diff health authority) I had most appointments for bloods etc at the hospital and didn't see the midwife until about 20 weeks (apart from booking in)

Hellkat sounds like you had a real good MOT! Glad everythng is ok.
I can't wait to hear the heartbeat - got another 3 weeks to wait.

Woodelf · 07/03/2006 18:07

Hi everyone! Such a lot of posts I took a while to catch up!

Glad to hear the scans are going well and the beanies are happy wee things doing somersaults for joy Grin.

Seeing Midwife on 20 March so should be interesting as I don't really know what to expect. Another scan is planned for 22 March so I'm looking forward to seeing beanie again but feeling more secure and reassured this is a keeper as time goes on.

{{{hugs to all}}}}

compo · 07/03/2006 18:10

welcome to Marls001 and good luck with your screening
Bella - I've seen the midwife once so far (booking in appoinmtent) and I'm booked in to see her on March 23rd. Have they asked you to fill out any forms yet?

HellKat · 07/03/2006 18:10

Top- bf is a choice, definitely sounds as if she was hinting lol. I did'nt get on with bf at all with ds1 but took to it with ds2. Only bf him for a couple of mths though because he milked me dry. Both boys are incredibly healthy. Main thing is do what feels right for you.

Off for a soak and a jight of vegging on the couch.
Have a great night girls xx
