Homemama,

Medication is deffo working, it kicked in really within hours of starting the tablets.

I still feel queasy sometimes but I don't get a dizzy feeling in my ears very often. I am eating foods that are gentle on the stomach lining as it is still tender.

Lol at your dh's shop name for very pg bridesmaids. I have one wedding this summer and we will be taking ds so I wouldn't be drinking anyway.

My little problem at the moment (DON'T READ ON IF YOU ARE EASILY SHOCKED) is that I haven't poo'd in 8 days now and I have eaten plenty in that time. I will take some sennakot double strength tonight, as I stopped of at the chemist for a lovely chat about my bowels in front of a shop full of people awaiting prescriptions, on my way in to work this morning. You pretty much lose your embarrassment when you declare yourself pregnant and have to talk about all sorts of things.

I thought I'd be OK as I'd been taking a lactulose type thing ever since I came out of hospital but apparently the anti-sickness drugs can have quite a strong constipating effect.

LexyB , was quite encouraged to see that the sickness stopped earlier in later pregnancies, hope for homemama and I there.

Lysettes, interesting to know that they can prescribe stuff to lower the blood pressure as they are threatening me with bed rest (I'm only 12 weeks fgs).

I'm waiting now to see how much bloating shifts when I am no longer constipated before I hunt out my maternity suits/blouses from last time. I gave away my jeans and casual trousers to someone in dire need with no spare funds and will probably check out eBay for some replacements eventually.

Envious of your scans girls as I'm not due another now until week 15. Perhaps the midwife will try and find a heartbeat tomorrow when she checks my blood pressure.

Lysettes · 06/03/2006 10:48

Morning everyone!

Good luck bella and compo for this afternoon! My consultant won't scan till 20 weeks now so a really long wait, but got to listen to heartbeat last week which was lovely Smile
Hellkat you poor thing, it's so difficult when pets are old. Lots of big hugs.
I'm in maternity trousers from Isabella Oliver see \link{http://isabellaoliver.com\this} and lots of wrap dresses! Felt very conscious to start off with but they're so much more comortable than squashing myself into normal clothes.
DH I think was feeling very guilty about making me cry so treated me to a facial and lunch on sunday - feeling on top of the world now Grin hope it lasts!

Lysettes · 06/03/2006 11:22

Normsnockers jsut read about your bp - studies have now shown that hospital bed rest isn't any more helpful than just being at home.

my bp was 180/110 when they first found it at my booking appointment.

i'm on methyldopa and aspirin each morning (very low dose) and there is another drug they can give ina pill form if the methyldopa doesn't work.

apparently at start of the second trimester bp comes down slightly naturally as well so that's something Smile

fingers crossed they don't put you on bed rest - I'd go out of my mind with boredom Grin

Normsnockers · 06/03/2006 11:57

Lysettes,

I'm sure they probably just mean't signing a sicknote recommending bed rest at home (I agree with the research and can't see why a hospital bed would be any help, god you get no sleep in hospitals !)

I feel less stressed since the anti-sickness tablets kicked in and the thought that my BP may naturally fall a little in the second trimester is comforting.

Pooling all our experiences and information like this is so helpful, thanks for everything.

I'd have no problem with bed rest at home, we have full range of cable TV channels and a large stock of unwatched DVD's and Videos. My stress levels however would actually be inflated by the fact that my work would dry up and there goes my lucrative hard won earnings source. Since having ds I wouldn't have the time to build it all back up again without hardly seeing him.

calvemjoe · 06/03/2006 12:31

Good luck for your scans Bella and Compo.
Sad about your cat hellkat x

Lysettes · 06/03/2006 13:07

Normsnockers - If you're happy taking a pill that is safe for you and baby that might be a way to ask to go before bed rest if you will stress about your hard work going out the window - even if you're on bed rest but stressing it may mean your bp still doesn't go down. And then they might put you on pills anyway - vicious circle type situation Smile

relaxing music as well on the way to the doctors / ANC / Midwife would maybe help?

Normsnockers · 06/03/2006 13:58

Good point, must replace the childrens type CD's in the car with some chill out music CD's for the drive to the Gp's when going for M/W appointment.

Might go early and sit in waiting area breathing deeply. Apparently this works for old people.

Normsnockers · 06/03/2006 14:00

Ooh just think some of us on this thread are seeing their babies on the scan screens at this minute !

Bella23 · 06/03/2006 14:24

OH MY GOD I AM GOING TO HAVE A BABY !!!!!!!!

Scan went really well, all looks perfect and I am the same risk as a 15 year old for down's so quite impressive!

Also had my heart scanned as part of Kings Hospital research which was pretty cool.

puppy · 06/03/2006 14:27

Grin, congratulations bella, so pleased everything good . you can announce it to the world now and relax.

Grin Grin Grin Grin

puppy · 06/03/2006 14:28

does your dates match?

Lysettes · 06/03/2006 14:29

Bella BIG HUGS!!!!! Grin hope all other scans going well today.

Normsnockers I got to my last appointment about 25 minutes early (blasted tubes working well for once!) and sat quietly reading magazines and drinking some water - bp really low, so yes, it definitely works. Also booking treats so you have something to look forward to (like facial or holiday Smile Smile) would work

If you get any other tips, do share...

Bella23 · 06/03/2006 15:12

yep Puppy, dates match

Can't wait to tell the world!!

HellKat · 06/03/2006 15:17

Bella- Great news hun!!! It's wonderful to be able to get excited! Grin
Compo- Hope yours is going just as well.

Thanks for your kind words girls. I'm feeling ok actually (had a cry last night when we'd decided). It helped talking to the vet who'd been in the same position and knowing the problem would get worse & worse has made it easier. The house is quiet though, he was a noisy bugger Smile

kreamkrackers · 06/03/2006 17:46

Morning girls.
I've got my consultant appt this morning (9am) so hopefully I'll find out the risk of having another premmie birth. Incase no one knew, ds2 decided to rush into the world 6 wks early lol. I was technically between 33/34 wks because I was only just (by 52 mins) into my 34th week.

Have a great day all.

How's everyone feeling?

I am still suffering with my cough and cold, but MIL is taking DS for the day, so I can either

Just started a thread on the travel section - we are going to go camping with DS in May - it will be his 1st time - am quite excited, but if anyone has any 'camping with Toddlers' tips - they will be gratefully received!
