Hi all,

Had scan yesterday :) Sonographer put me at 12 + 4 making my due date 9th of Sep but consultant said as it's only 6 days difference with my date going by LMP we'll stick with the 15th!! All looks well thus far although there's not much they can tell until the 20 week scan (which is booked for 2nd May). Baby jumped around a bit & I was surprised at how emotional I felt seeing it....I thought that second time around I wouldn't feel much but gosh, how wrong was I?!! :o

Coriander73 · 01/03/2006 09:24

BTW, is anyone else suffering with headaches? I didn't with DD but I have them every day & am not sure what I can take, if anything?

Cupcakes, really sorry to hear your news :(

Woodelf · 01/03/2006 09:58

Cupcakes, so sorry about your news - lots of hugs to you and good luck for the future. I went thru similar 3 times so don't give up!

Cori; been headachy quite a bit, apparently you can take paracetomol but I've not bothered as I don't think mine were the kind of headaches it would help with.
Nuchal scan this morning - bit nervous about this one esp due to advanced age Blush

Bella23 · 01/03/2006 10:11

Oh dear, sorry to hear the terrible news, Cupcakes Sad Take Care of yourself. Have been through this myself so know how hard it is emotionally.

Coriander - arh, bless lovely to hear your scan went well and that you are all gooey about it.

Woodelf - good luck with the Nuchel scan, let us know your good news when you get back.

Well all these missed m/c are making me feel very nervous indeed for my scan on Monday. Horrible thoughts keep popping in my head and am trying to banish them with positive thoughts but its just so hard!!

Well hope the rest of you ladies are enjoying the first day of March.....white rabbits, white rabbits Grin

Angeliz · 01/03/2006 10:12

I'm so happy for all you lot with positive scans tooSmile

TopBanana · 01/03/2006 10:34

Cupcakes, I'm so sorry Sad

Hope everyone is ok

12 weeks today and feeling great Grin

curlygirl · 01/03/2006 10:46

Cupcakes, so sorry to hear your news, and sorry for going on about my scan so much, it can't have made it any easier for you. I have mc twice so I know how devastating it is, loads of hugs and good luck for the future Sad

cupcakes · 01/03/2006 12:10

curlygirl - don't worry. I'm scanning what I'm reading iykwim. Will probably not come back to this thread for a while. But wish you all loads of luck.

Lysettes · 01/03/2006 13:54

Cupcakes - I fell so sorry for your news, take time to look after yourself Sad

cori - i've had really bad headaches almost constantly for a week - finally tried panadol and it's helped, tasted terrible though.

is anyone else in Queen Charlotte's? If so, can you have the same midwife all the way through? I have no idea who is going to be delivering me! Envy for you all that know yours.

Anyone else feeling down? Am very low this week and just hoping it will lift - gone is tyhe sickness now, replaced by this...

ANC tomorrow for blood pressure - fingers crossed it's coming down Smile

Angeliz · 01/03/2006 13:58

Lysettes, i am o.k now but week before last i was down and teary all the time.+
As for the same Midwife, well this is my third and i've seen lots of different ones through all pregnancies. The worrying part is hoping you'll get a nice one for the Birth. Fortunately i did but there's one who delivered my Nephew who i wouldn't want, she's incredibly flippant and very crude!
Try to see the positive in seeing a few different ones. They all have different views on many things, when i asked about resberry leaf during my first, the midwife said basically' load of old tosh' then another one told me it worked for her and was great.
(I used it with both and had 2 very quick labours. Could be coincidence of courseSmile )

Woodelf · 01/03/2006 17:02

Back from nuchal scan and all is very well indeed. Apparently at my age there is a one in 35 odds of downs - scary indeed. But the nuchal fold measurement was so good they say the odds are now one in 187! Apparently as if I were early 30s not 40s... deeply chuffed and happy Grin. Won't need amniocentesis which scared me rigid esp with mc history.

Considering hiring a doula for the birth time as want to be sure get the right support for me and dh at the time, esp being first timers and at the notorious Mayday Hospital in Croydon.

Woodelf · 01/03/2006 17:03

Oops - was intending to ask if anyone had used a doula before and opinion if a good idea?

calvemjoe · 01/03/2006 21:09

Cupcakes, so sorry for your news, I'm thinking about you.

Homemama, can't believe I don't come on for a day and I miss you. Hope you are ok, I'm thinking about you.

My scan feels so far away on the 16th, I know it's not but you worry so much and I'll be 15 weeks by then. Feels like a long time.

All of you having trouble sleeping, I've got an antenatal yoga vid and it's really helped me to get a few goodnights sleep. I was really begining to get exhausted as between sick toddlers and vivid dream I've not slept through for 3 weeks. Fell asleep in the afternoon the other day and left my ds to his own devices. Really scared me cause he could have come to some sort of harm so thats why I tried the yoga.

Hope everyones ok, congrats to all the good scan results. x

HellKat · 02/03/2006 07:36

Morning all.
Wood- Well done on getting good results! Must be a huge relief.

Got a splitting headache here. It's pg related just blocked sinuses so will be on steam inhalation later.

How's everyone?

mabel1973 · 02/03/2006 08:13

Hi everyone!

Woodelf - good to hear your scan went well.
I was really disappointed on monday that I didn't get to hear the heartbeat when I saw the midwife - I have to wait til 16 weeks now when I go in for my triple test.
Incidentally my mw didn't even mention the neuchal scan to me when she was discussing the triple test on monday. I knew of it from looking in to it last time, but as I am 33 in a couple of months, surely she should have made me aware of my options?

puppy · 02/03/2006 10:04

glad scans went well coriander73 and woodelf and good luck for tomorrow angeliz

Had a tiny bit of spotting yesterday am none since but cramping again! 11 weeks tomorrow.
Feel abit left out with all these scans and midwife appt Sad lol, no idea when my scan will be and midwife appt a week on friday i'm sure it will be worth the wait though.
DH and I have decided we would like to move house so will be doing lot of work to it before selling. going to be busy busy busy.

kreamkrackers · 02/03/2006 10:11

puppy - you need to phone the hospital about the bleeding, they need to check it out. i had blood when i wiped and bad stomach pains, though i was having another mc. it turned out to be a uti. you need to be checked out for any bleeding, especially when there is cramping as well.

puppy · 02/03/2006 10:17

Thanks KK, When I was scanned at 6.5 weeks for bleeding it showed a ech, I was told to expect a little more spotting but not to worry, only if it was heavy with clots, this was the smallest amount only once when I wiped, sorry if I gave the wrong impression. The cramps I am experiencing are not painful iykwim, Just like what I had been experiencing a few weeks ago.

Lysettes · 02/03/2006 10:21

Thanks Calvenjoe - I have a pg yoga dvd but not opened it yet - will try it tonight - roll on better sleep!

puppy - phone the hospital and definitely get it checked. I have had on off bleeding (very light) sorry probably tmi, and it's nothing to worry about but the ANC needs to know to make sure.

thanks for the advice Angeliz - am being consultant led bc of the high b pressure so good care there as well Smile

have a great day everyone!

homemama · 02/03/2006 12:00

Hi,
Just read your sad news Cupcakes so felt I had to post to sayhow sorry I am. I have had an early mc too so I know the mixed emotions it brings. look after yourself.

Glad to hear other scans went well. We have our nuchal scan a week on Monday so I hope to at least have a wash by then. Grin With DS, we paid privately for it but in this new authority, it's a standard NHS scan. Last time, despite my age related risk being 1 in 450, we were given odds of 1 in 50000 which was great. Hoping for similar this time. We also had the bloods taken at 10wks which marry up with the scan as apparently they increase the detection rate, bringing it up to 89%. Sorry, that was just for whoever it was who asked about nuchal scan experience.

Norms, how are you? Is anything working for you? I'm taking Maxalon 10mg. It helps a little but also makes me feel woozy and nervous looking after DS. I think I'm luckier than you in that mine went by 20wks last time so I just have to try and focus on that.
LexyB, amazed that you're brave enough to have four HG pregnancies! Well done! I can't face another one after this! Sad

Calvemjoe, thanks for the thoughts. Hope the yoga helps!
Take care everyone!

homemama · 02/03/2006 12:02

Puppy, thinking about you too. Hope everything goes ok (I'm sure it will!) Smile

puppy · 02/03/2006 12:20

Thanks Homemama,lysettes.
Because I was told to expect further spotting due to the ech I am going to see how things go on. Like I said I only had the slightest amount early yesterday morn (not fresh either). The cramping is normal its the uterus contracting as it gets larger. If I have further spotting I promise I will reing the EPU to get it checked out. Smile

Bella23 · 02/03/2006 12:27

Morning all ladies.

Well am feeling very fragile today. Just heard some news that a friend is pregnant (a week later than me) and instead of feeling elated I felt totally sick to the stomach.
The last m/c I had was at the same time as my best friend was pregnant and I had to watch her go through her pregnancy with a view of "look what I could have won" as it took me a year to conceive again. It was horrible as I was so hapy for my friend but used to go home feeling so upset at my jeaous feelings.
Hearing a close friend is pregnant the same time as me again brought all the memory of that pain back again and I just feel so teary that it will all turn out badly for me again and I shall have to watch from the sidelines again whilst someone goes through their pregnancy.

Sorry am sounding like a nutter aren't I!

Obviously the positive is that everything goes great and I have a pregnancy buddy.
Feel better after a good cry, just feeling so scared of things going wrong again.Sad
Somebody give me a slap !

puppy · 02/03/2006 12:41

Awww hugs bella, I'm sure everything will be fine and try to relax ( i know harder said than done).

katiejane68 · 02/03/2006 12:44

Bella - I feel for you. I think this is just the time for us to worry excessively. Every little twinge, unsteady moment you worry. I just want to get to my scan next Friday. Just because things were bad last time, doesn't mean it will this time. Hang in there we're all here!
