Thanks Puppy!

Is anyone on medication for high b pressure? I'm on methyldopa and it's making me really sleepy - i too spent the whole weekend asleep...

Also is anyone else having really vivid dreams? This is normal right? I heard that.

Mabel1973 - my due date is 9th September - and you?

I have a huge bump - one "friend" even remarked "you're bigger than my sister was and she had twins!" - just what you want to hear when you're just feeling a bit lardy Grin

well done LexyB - that's wonderful news, and i'm looking forward to you sharing all your tips and experience Wink

compo · 27/02/2006 19:08

mabel1973 - I wasn't asked if I wanted a nuchal fold scan, just booked in for one. I haven't had any blod taken or even my urine tested - that all happens at the scan appointment which seems odd to me!!

pol25 · 27/02/2006 20:59

As usual my vivid dreams have started and driving me crazy - I am more active in my sleep than when i'm awake.
The usual dreaming awful things about me, dp, dd and baby... Drives me mad. Telling dp in the middle of the night some bizzare tales when i'm alseep too- so our house is a tired and pee'd off one at the mo!
Fed up of horrid taste in my mouth too but surviving on apple tango- yum!!! and croissants- not great for the waist line, :o
Happy tho as midwife coming tomorrow for booking app. Not sure how dd will be, fingers crossed or she'll be put in the cage again Wink
Have scan app on 13th too! yeah!
Not looking forward to any high blood pressure or reduced movement like I had with dd tho so fingers doubly crossed! Lets hope all sales through and I feel and look like some slim, slender yummy mummy rather than an emotional wreck! :o

BEKsmum · 27/02/2006 22:13

Sorry to gatecrash just wanted to pop in and say hello to HellKat, glad to see everything is going well hun, don't forget to pop over to the other side and let us know how you are getting on from time to time BEKS

HellKat · 28/02/2006 06:27

Morning girls!
Curly,Cori & Wood- Good luck today for your scans!!!

How's everyone?
I've got my heartbeat check at the Epu Friday morning so hopefully will hear the little steam train again Grin.
Can empathise totally about sleep. I've been going to bed around 10 ish, getting up once to the loo, tossing & turning throughout the night, up between 4.30 & 5.30am. I just about manage to get through until around 11 ish then crawl into bed for a couple of hours (thatnk goodness dp is'nt working atm). Roll on 12 wks when this tiredness is supposed to lift Grin

puppy · 28/02/2006 09:46

Morning all

I have just been the same regarding sleep, goto sleep early, get up for loo once, dreaming like mad ( dreamt last night I was in the olympics lol). Then wake up feeling I have hardly had any sleep, It is getting easier though.
I am soo very very Envy of all the scans and midwife appts. 10th March I will see mine Sad. Roll on 2nd trimester Smile.

Good luck to all having scans [mile]

kreamkrackers · 28/02/2006 10:57

i'm 10 weeks now, time when i had last mc :( really scared as i feel rotten but looking after dd as she's still ill is partly taking my mind off things. was sick this morning so that's a good sign, must remember not to have pureed juices in the mornings. i think that was my first time of being sick with it not being through coughing.

mabel1973 · 28/02/2006 11:03

Hi all!

KK - keep thinking positive I am sure everything will be fine and you have your DD to keep your mind off things x

Good luck to all those having scans today - how exciting!

If it's any consolation to those who are still feeling wiped out with tiredness, I am now going in to my 13th week and the tiredness has more or less gone now and I feel like I can cope with the day better.
Can't cope with my drink though! Had not even half a glass of rose (diluted with half a pint of lemonade) last night and have a hangover this monring Blush

katiejane68 · 28/02/2006 12:57

Hi everyone. So nice to read and catch up on you all. Not doing too bad now, am 11 weeks and nausea all but gone. Still tired but not so much and that annoying taste in my mouth is still hanging around, but discovered pear drop sweets! Feeling really fed-up today, work is not going so well and a girl I was going out to lunch with is now back with her old mate who was off sick for 3 months, so feel all alone. I'm not normally this bad must be the hormones. Glad you're all here to talk with!

Seem to have a large bump, people keep joking about whether there's one or two in there, which really helps.
Next scan booked for Friday 10th, this one has come through with all the paperwork for the nuchal fold thing, although I didn't specifically ask for it. Am a whopping 37 so I know the risk is higher now.

Anyway hugs to you all, hope those still poorly take care of themselves.

pol25 · 28/02/2006 14:09

Grrr! midwife just been and an older (say in her 50's) lady. Ok I guess and pretty chuffed she will be at the birth with me! Yeah! With dd had just the hospital midwife who was fab but someone I knew would have been lovely.
BUT she asked my about dd's birth told her was in del suite for 5 and half hours and in labour at home before that. Told her I had an epidural to which she said 'oh, you won't have one with me!' AGGGGGGG panic! Sad
Can she say that???
Felt as if no matter what I felt, and even if epidural wasn't effective last time all of my choices had been taken away from me Angry wrote in my birth plan that I will decide if I want an epidural but she did not seem to take any notice and said they made births longer. It certainly did not mine last time! Felt totally ignored and feeling pretty crabby now!
Not too sure how to make it perfectly clear that although I enjoyed my last birth- apart from constant pain, I felt in control by having choices of whether or not to have an epidural- oplease tell me I can still have one!

compo · 28/02/2006 14:12

I know eaxactly how you feel! I told my midwife i want to have this baby in a hospital that has anathestists and consultants on hand and she still tried to persuade me to go to the local midwife led unti so if I decided to have an epidural it would involve a half an hour ambulance journey. She went on about how second births don't usually have time for epidurals etc but still it's our choice. Just scream blue murder until you get one and get your dh to make your feelings clear!!

homemama · 28/02/2006 14:38

Hi everyone,
just a quickie to let you all know I'm surviving. I've been in and out and in and out again but I'm still very sick. Sad
First time was a bit of a farce. Nurse says: 'We're a bit worried about your urine result, have you been poorly?' DH: 'Well I had to carry her to the car.'
Second time helped a lot. If nothing else it gets you back on an even keel and the constant throwing up becomes just a regular throwing up. Grin
I'm not up to posting very regularly at the moment but I'll try to keep in touch. BTW, Norms, thanks for the advice to just take myself there. If it was up to my GP, I'd still be on stemitil and told to eat little and often. Hope you have found something that helps and that you're coping.
Hope everyone else is doing well. Smile

Normsnockers · 28/02/2006 15:01

Oooh Homemama am I glad to see you're still with us !

Hospitals can be a bit cr£p can't they. "Have you been poorly ?" What kind of medical history taking is that ?

They were ready to discharge me on the Weds and I would have willingly gone too until a discussion revealed that I had not wee'd for 48 hours after admission and hadn't poo'd in a week. Then it was panic stations and I had to stay in until the Thurs afternoon.

Discharged on tablet version of drugs injected whilst in hospital and these are the same tablets that hadn't worked and ended me up there in the first place. Not surprisingly 4 days later I was vomitting lots again and have today got a prescription for a drug usually given to Chemo patients to stop them being sick. Really hope this one works or I'll be back in the same ward again like you were.

I'm going to measure ketones in my urine with dip in sticks from the chemist as apparently they are a sign of dehydration/starvation and not good. If the G.P /Midwife won't monitor me I'll bl00dy well do it myself.

Hope you have been prescribed something to take now that you are out ?

Don't worry if you are not up to replying for a while. You need to rest and keep your strength up.

mabel1973 · 28/02/2006 15:17

Homemama - so good to hear you're in the land of living (sort of) Keep positive and make sure you just take care of yourself.

Pol - I am sure your midwife is not allowed to tell you what pain relief you're allowed unless there's a medical reason. I had an epidural with Ds, I didn't want to , but I couldn't physically carry on, they tried to hold off as long as possible so they could say it was too late. I know they don't like giving them, but if it's available, and you need it, then you have every right to it, isn't that what we pay our taxes for!
Lysettes - forgot to answer you - my due date is the 8th!

I have braved a salad for lunch in an attempt to eat something healthy, but it has been repeating on me all afternoon - just to remind me that I am far better off eating junk.
Don't forget girls it's pancake day!

curlygirl · 28/02/2006 15:56

Hi everyone, hope those who are feeling rough feel better soonSmile. I have had a really exciting day, went for my nuchal scan this morning which turned out well despite all my worries. I have an extremely low risk of having a baby with Down's and everything else looked good too. We saw the baby really clearly this time, with my dd it was less easy to make everything out. I am 12 weeks and 2 days and I have an EDD of 10th Sept. I have three piccies and a video of the baby. We took dd with us as we didn't want questions from family about where we were going, didn't want to tell anyone in case anything was wrong. She didn't really understand what was on the big tv, but it was nice to have her there anyway. We went straight round to MIL afterwards as it is her b'day, gave her the news and I think it was her best b'day pressie! I can't wait to tell everyone else now. My pregnancy now feels real, and I can now go and buy some maternity jeans because my normal ones are way too tight! I was worried about buying some until I knew everything was ok. Also, definitely feeling some little movements - can't believe it. Sorry to go on but I am really excitedGrin.
Mabel1973, I decided to have a nuchal translucency scan because I am 35. I think the triple test is too much of a wait as it is done at 16 weeks and then you have to wait for another couple of weeks for the results. The nuchal scan also only gives you a Downs risk but it is more accurate. The only down side is that it is quite expensive, ours was £130 but I think it is worth it to have a bit more peace of mind. The ultrasound technician took her time and made it a nice experience for us too whereas it is a bit rushed in the NHS clinic, and we have a lovely video to keep too.

curlygirl · 28/02/2006 16:11

By the way, hope everything went well for those who also had their scans today Smile

Woodelf · 28/02/2006 16:38

Hi all,

Had scan this morning after 2 1/2hr wait cos a scanner wasn't working! Beanie was so funny as it did a jump and waved at me Grin - wish dh could have seen it. Apparently they reckon I am 11 w 4 days now - which makes my due date now sep 15. Reckon it's just because the baby is bound to be longer than average. Have to go back tomorrow for them to try nuchal fold scan as consultant reckons 20 March will be too late. Am fed up with hospitals...

Sickness finally seems to have subsided and feel joyous to feel human again and interested in food. Hope anyone feeling poorly gets better soon.

cupcakes · 28/02/2006 17:44

Hi everyone. Feel I had better sign off this thread. I had my scan today and found out that actually I've had a missed miscarriage (\link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1367&threadid=150790&stamp=060228172104\see here}). Feel very strange at the moment.
Good luck to everyone else. Will be thinking of you in September.

compo · 28/02/2006 18:33

so sorry to hear that Cupcakes - take good care of yourself xxxx

Sorry to hear NN and HOmemama still feeling so poorly. I'm still being sick but not anything like to ytour extent - about once every 2 days. Managed pancakes for tea though Grin

kreamkrackers · 28/02/2006 19:31

cupcakes - :(:(:( so sorry.

Angeliz · 28/02/2006 20:53

cupcakes, i'm so so sorry to hear thatSad+++++++++++++++++++

pol25 · 28/02/2006 21:04

Have made my decision after long chat with dp and sister, Have decided that I don't want her continiuosly at the birth, might sound mean but last midwife, when I had dd was there but poped in and out til we needed her. I really liked it. I'm not one who wants fussing over or 'encouraging or helping breathe through the contrations' as this midwife has suggested. I would rather wallow in my pain on my own with dp rather than her looking at my 'boobah' every two minutes!
As for my epidural, I may not need one :o or want one Wink but it is MY body, MY baby and MY choice and so I know that i'll tell her this now I have got over the shock of being told 'you won't have an epidural with me' Angry still fuming about it all!!!
No pancakes tonight as felt too sick to be bothered and dp not that keen either. Feeling so tired so may just hit the sack!
Good luck with all those dreams and sickness ladies!

puppy · 28/02/2006 23:20

Cupcakes hugs to you (((())))) Sad

mabel1973 · 01/03/2006 07:59

Cupcakes- Posted on your thread hunny. Sad {{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}} look after yourself. If you need some great support, pop over to the ttc after mc thread. There's a few girls on there that are having mc's and are'nt ttc'ing yet. You're more than welcome and they're wonderful! xxxxx
Wood- We've got the same due date! Smile
Home- Welcome back. Hope your sickness eases.

After reading of all the poor ladies going through mc's at the mo, I must admit I'm still worried. I'll feel alot better after Friday. Especially with this backache, I keep thinking it'll lead to something.
Must think positvely!!!Smile

How's everyone?
