Poor Fluffy :(

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 20/04/2012 20:20

Dream you're doing an utterly sterling job, what an example! Lovely to hear the twins are gaining nicely :)

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 20/04/2012 20:33

Could one of you lovely ladies please explain to me how you would know the difference between a painful Braxton Hicks, and an actual contraction? Just out of a vague passing interest... Blush

Biscuitsandtea · 20/04/2012 20:44

Scream, for me, my BH were across the middle of my bump (in line with my belly button) and the contractions were at the bottom.

If I were you though I'd consider going to get them to checked because if it's the real McCoy they need to get on with the CS. It's harder for them to get the spinal etc in if you're having proper contractions so I guess if it is real labour then the later you leave it the more like an EMCS it is rather than ELCS? If that makes sense?

Biscuitsandtea · 20/04/2012 20:45

And agree - Dream you're doing amazingly to be getting to the park and stuff. You're awesome Grin

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 20/04/2012 20:51

I've only had a couple of pains, just now. They were right at the bottom of my bump though, and accompanied by a lot of pant snot! DH is on his way over to martial arts right now though (with car and mobile of course) and I really don't want to call him back unless I'm sure something's happening. I suspect it's just the kind of tightenings and pains Scarlet's been having for a few days now. I have my pre-op appt first thing tomorrow morning, and I know they'll be doing some monitoring then, so as long as this doesn't get stronger/more regular, I'll leave it tonight.

I totally agree with what you were saying about the earlier I get in the better if I did go into labour though!

scarletfingernail · 20/04/2012 21:00

Scream I've also been having some scary pains this evening. In fact I did actually think labour had started properly a couple of hours ago. I've had a couple of funny episodes where pains have lasted 45 minutes or so and then disappeared as suddenly as they started. I've been completely fine again since about 6.30 though, so I'm assuming I don't need to get the childcare in just yet. If only I knew one way or the other it would make life so much easier. There's part of me now wishing that the ECV hadn't worked! I'd have had a nice planned ELCS by now and it would all be over.

Biscuitsandtea · 20/04/2012 21:08

Oooh, we're going to have two new brooking babies by the end of the weekend.

Fo shizzle Grin

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 20/04/2012 21:10

I wish I knew as well! Biscuits is absolutely right that if labour did start then the longer I wait to get to hospital the more like an EMCS rather than a ELCS my surgery would be, which is pretty dangerous with my high risk of excessive bleeding. Plus my hospital only has consultants on the maternity ward until 10 p.m. each day (after that they have to be called in from home) and I've been told my surgery should only be carried out by a consultant (as opposed to a registrar). So if I knew I would have to go in tonight it would be much better to go now rather than in a couple of hours.

However I don't want to jump the gun! Loads of people have irregular pains for days, even weeks, before labour kicks off. I wish all labours started with waters breaking like in the movies!!

Sorry to hear about your 45 min pain! That's intense! I've only had a couple of pains so far and they were definitely less fun than any period I've ever had! Fingers crossed we'll both just know when the time is right! Also, I'm sure your recovery after your pain-free sneeze birth will be much faster than an ELCS recovery, so in the end you'll still be glad it worked out!

musicalmrs · 20/04/2012 22:17

Ooo Scarlet, sounds exciting! Grin. As it does for you too Scream - I'm going to have to be camped by MN all weekend!

Scream - I hope this will be my thread :) I don't mind about a pre-move sneeze birth - as long as it's not a during move sneeze birth! There are a few days I'd like LO to avoid, so naturally I reckon that's when it will decide to make an appearance..!

Fluffy, you poor thing :( especially that chocolate sets it off - how miserable. I hope you find some other tasty treat that makes you feel better...

Dream, hurrah for the weights! :) And yes, as Biscuits says, this too will pass.

Managed to fall over earlier, which was a bit worrying. I was rushing to close the window so the cats wouldn't escape into the hail storm, and manage to slip, slide, and eventually slip over. Luckily I twisted to fall on my leg and side.. and after about 10 minutes of panicking the LO resumed battering my insides.

Ordered all the new furniture/appliances we need today - even got a call from fraud prevention to check we were actually meaning to spend so much money Blush.

DreamingOfPeace · 20/04/2012 22:23

no time to read but new pic of boys up :-)

Stacks · 20/04/2012 22:36

Quick message to mark my place before going to bed. Looks like some imminent sneeze births coming up!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 20/04/2012 22:39

Lol! That's good effort on the shopping if you managed to get fraud prevention to call you Musical! Grin Sorry to hear about your fall though, so glad the LO wasn't affected.

There's no more excitement from me I'm afraid, it's all petered out very quickly. I think we should all keep an eye on Scarlet though, I think we will have another No Brooking member by the end of this weekend!

jaggythistle · 21/04/2012 07:23

slightly fuzzy sleepy head here, baby DS2 has been a voracious feeder and my milk was already coming in last night. He's quite chilled out when he's not squeaking for fod though :)

Haing some DS1 time now - we are watching nursery rhymes on youtube!

scarlet did I tell you I was going round the supermarket while having early contractions? i was slightly in denial

Hope it worked for you.

I also had bits of contractions that came and went....

need to catch up on here now...

scarletfingernail · 21/04/2012 08:08

Nothing to report here after yesterday's false alert. No idea what that was all about. I'm desperate for something to happen. Fingers crossed for you Scream too, at least you know it will all be over by Weds at the latest.

Oh dream your boys are gorgeous!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 21/04/2012 08:32

No news here either I'm afraid. Off to hospital now for the standard pre-op appt. Wiith the prospect of drips, locals and spinal next Wed, somehow the blood tests I'm about to have seem less terrifying than usual... Grin

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 21/04/2012 08:48

musical :o what kind of bits have you been getting? Furniture shopping is the one kind of shopping I love!

Good luck at your appointment scream :)

I hope think I might have a mild bug rather than it be the chocolate - am currently braving a bowl of cereal - it'll either make me feel much better or push me over the edge!

musicalmrs · 21/04/2012 09:29

Dream, they're absolutely gorgeous :)

I thought getting fraud protection to call was quite impressive - even more impressive when you consider they only called about one credit card, and we split yesterday's purchases over two! Grin. Fluffy, we bought a fridge freezer (less exciting, but it was pretty in the shop!), a new wardrobe and a new suite of sofas. All due for delivery next weekend after we get the keys on Friday Grin.

Hope it is a bug rather than the chocolate..!

scarlet, I'm sure something will happen soon - brooking for a lovely snuggly baby for you this weekend! Sorry there's no news from you Scream, but at least you do have a scheduled end date as it were Grin.

It's only 9.30am and the top of my bump is extremely painful - not a good sign. A nice relaxing day for me I think. 37 weeks tomorrow!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 21/04/2012 09:58

Appt was fine, baby seems fine, and I'm 39 weeks today. It's all systems go! Will be doing nothing between now and Wed except trying to align my hips to be in the optimal position for recovery post op. I have a physio appt on Mon for last minute manipulation.

Can't believe it's so close now! Getting rather excited!

Fluffy I'm No Brooking for your nausea to be a mild, harmless short-lived bug - so that you can get back to enjoying chocolate asap!

Musical I am definitely even more impressed that fraud rang you about only HALF of your purchases! Grin

I still think Scarlet will pop before me - No Brooking for your painless sneeze birth to hurry up!

Wants3 · 22/04/2012 09:23

Ooh! It's been very quiet on here, is everyone off having their babies? :) I will check in later to see how scream and scarlet are doing. I had lots of under bump pain last night but back to normal this morning.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 22/04/2012 11:41

Missing you all... Where is everyone?

No news here and not expecting anything ahead of schedule. Just getting lots of particularly painful kicks under the ribs!

No Brooking for Scarlet to have her sneeze birth soon. Sounds like you're gearing up too Wants!!

musicalmrs · 22/04/2012 12:05

It's so quiet isn't it! No brooking for Scarlet - maybe she's already had her sneeze birth? :)

Think my LO's engaged quite a bit more after a lot of walking around Ikea yesterday and town today! Its bottom seems to be a lot lower too, which I'm guessing is a good sign, and getting lots more BH and stabby knitting needle ish pains (is that the head doing mean things to my cervix?!).

Went and bought some ultra-comfy nursing bras earlier, as well as lots of strappy tops to wear under things for breastfeeding. Hurrah!

My friend who's a couple of weeks ahead is posting lots of updates on Facebook - about eating spicy road, bumpy roads, and a 'pains' update. I can't imagine how maddening the constant status updates are for non-preggos.. Hmm (my DH thinks it would be hilarious if our LO decided to make an appearance before theirs - the husband's put a countdown on his Facebook - don't they know these babies don't appear to schedule?!).

Rant over..!

scarletfingernail · 22/04/2012 13:01

AAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH! This is driving me mad. Going overdue is horrible! I really did think I'd have had this baby by now, but nothing has happened since those pains on Friday. I was 40+3 with DS and I'm 40+2 today. People have now stopped telling me that second ones come earlier.

Sorry for getting hopes up, I've been trying to keep myself busy in RL so not had time to post. DS is being a monster this weekend, we've had almost non-stop tantrums. I'm really not looking forward to DH going to work tomorrow, I need labour to start now!

musical Grin about FB. Wait til she has her baby. I've one FB friend who's baby is now a few weeks old and puts the baby's weight on every time it's been weighed, how many times it's fed that day etc Grin

DreamingOfPeace · 22/04/2012 13:35

The fb updates do my head in, and the baby's development timeline apps. How to rub it in for anyone ttc too. I did post that I'd been mega-vommed the other night, but that was more a complaint that its only dh who believes in the Laundry Fairy. I got a lot of responses from his friends saying the Laundry Fairy does exist, she's round their house all the time Hmm .
Oh scarlet, incredibly annoying. Officially you're not overdue until 42 weeks though, just to make it all even more annoying... You'll go into labour soon enough, maybe time to start checking what shops will give you free stuff if your waters break while there for some optimistic tramping round?!

scarletfingernail · 22/04/2012 13:43

Oh Dream I didn't know that, and yes it does make it more annoying! Did you have to tell me? Wink
If my waters did break whilst out I think I will be too Blush to ask for any free stuff. In fact I'd be mortified! Do some shops still actually do that?
