HappyCamel · 25/05/2012 22:22

Hi to all the newbies.

Quick update from me. I've got a scan on Wednesday to find out my due date. I reckon I'm 9 weeks tomorrow but could be up to 12. I'm 29 31 (for the stats).

I've hardly had any nausea this pg but in the last week my blood pressure suddenly drops and my heart rate increases and I almost faint. It seems to happen more if I turn around or get up quickly or if I don't eat little and often. Does anyone else get the same?

I've told a few friends and family but can't tell work because I'm going for a promotion. My boss is 14 weeks pg so the business is going to struggle come Christmas but it can't be helped.

Have a lovely weekend everyone

CountryKitty · 26/05/2012 07:26

Morning all!

Been up since before 6. DH & DD's still sound asleep. Aargh - why can't I sleep!

I guess your right Pickle - hadn't thought about it that way, thanks.

mash Glad everything's OK. I'm constantly knicker checking. I hate this stage.

I'm now past the stage of my second mc but can't relax until get to 7 weeks.

HappyCamel thats so good you've got your scan on Wed. Are you going to tell people after this? I'm in the same position (all going well) come Christmas and January as it's our busiest time of the year and me being pg / on maternity leave will impact our dept massively. Don't know when to tell them. Conscious that they need enough time to organise maternity cover, but don't want them to know and then something goes wrong. Decisions decisions...

Got a busy day today between DD's ballet classes and b'day parties but hope to get out to enjoy the sun also.

Happy sunning! x

Hi octagengirl. just reading your last post, is it your horse or are you lucky enough to rose for a job?. At what point will you stop riding? I have had loads of friends who have all done different things, and wondered what the mw says these days.

I have booked a private scan for next Saturday so will be 9 + 2 then but sickness has reduced and boobs less sore so it will be nice for reassurance. I didn't have either symptoms for ds1 so don't know why I am worried really

DrillingCat · 26/05/2012 09:07

Not been in here for a while, been feeling absolutely awful, feeling really sick everyday (had to take a day off work because I was so sick on monday which I never did with dd...), also have horrific headaches almost constantly, like I'm getting a migraine but it never quite hits. Found myself sleeping for hours everyday. Suddenly feeling better today! which is great because I'm off for a week! Hope the weather holds! But then can't help panicking, I'm sure I felt rubbish until 13 weeks last time so can't help thinking if I'm feeling better now something must be going wrong... Irrational, I know!

Not managed to have mw appt yet, so still feels a bit surreal.

For the list, I'm 32

Incaminka · 26/05/2012 11:18

Not great news at scan. I'm either out by two weeks, and the heartbeat is too small to pick up, or the baby died at five weeks and I'm mc-ing. Got a scan next Sunday, but think it will be too late.

cogitosum · 26/05/2012 14:05

Really sorry to hear that Incaminka x

I had early scan today and whilst there was a heartbeat it is measuring very small - sonographer thinks I'm out with days by a week and bit but I don't see how as I was TTC and tracking ovulation etc so very concerned - started thread in pregnancy.

Littlemissimpatient · 26/05/2012 14:41

Incaminka sorry to hear that. Good that you have another scan though to know one way or the other.

CountryKitty · 26/05/2012 15:29

Sorry to hear about your scans cognitosum & Incaminka. Be kind to yourselves over the next few days and take things easy. x

BionicEmu · 26/05/2012 16:57

Can I join in too?
Firstly, I'm sorry for the sadness and worry this thread has already had, I hope you are resting up and coping ok.

I'm 26, already have a DS who is 19 months old, currently very estimated due date is 31/1/13. I have stupidly irregular cycles though, so I guess only the dating scan will tell! Plus DS was born at 34+1, so I guess I'll take any due date with a pinch of salt anyway.

salt1 · 26/05/2012 17:12

can i join also? i am in my 5 week and swinging between excited and anxious. sorry to hear others are feeling sad and anxious too x

BuntyCollocks · 26/05/2012 21:04

So sorry, cognito and incaminka. I hope there is happy news for you both at next scans :( thinking of you both, please take it easy.

Welcome to newbies :)

mrsbugsywugsy · 27/05/2012 09:15

hello all, sorry I disappeared for a few days, my laptop has broken.

So sorry to hear that many of you are having sad & worrying times.

I was quite poorly last week, nausea turned into full on d&v, and DP caught it too so was definitely a tummy bug. I am now back to the same as before, low level nausea which is helped by eating.

I also have a very small amount of brown spotting - not sure whether it's something to worry about or not? It's only there when I wipe. had brown blood before I got my BFP too, which I thought was my period starting, so maybe this is just something I am prone to?

On the other hand I can't help but worry that being so ill last week was bad for the baby.

glorious · 27/05/2012 09:16

Hello everyone, can I join you too? I've been following this thread on my phone since BFP two weeks ago as I've been on holiday, but it was too impractical to post until now.

I'm 28 and EDD is something like 18th Jan (though probably a bit later).

I've been really sorry to read about all the worry and sad news people have already had. Fingers crossed for all of you.

cogitosum · 27/05/2012 09:30

Hello salt1 & glorious and congrats! Mrs bugsy I hope you are feeling better.

Thank you for all the the thoughts. I'm feeling a bit happier today. The sonographer was not concerned at all and there was a heartbeat so think there is some cause for cautious optimism! I guess it'll be up and down like this at least til 12 weeks. Looking forward to seeing midwife friday as hopefully they'll answer some of my questions.

SpringFlowers · 27/05/2012 09:53

Sorry to hear some of the scan news. I've also had brown cm which started last Sunday and has been on and off since. On Friday evening I had quite a lot of thin red blood for about 20 minutes but no clots or pain. It was really worrying but then stopped as quickly as it had started. Since then I've been back to brown when I wipe. I'm being scanned on Thursday when I'll be 6+4. I still have pregnancy symptoms which is good (although I feel lousy) but it's hard to know what to think. I know that this happens to lots of people who go on to have healthy full term babies. Equally it's not happened in any of my previous pregnancies and the sight of red blood just makes you feel awful. I dread going to the loo at the moment (although I seem to be in there every two minutes checking).

Hope everyone is enjoying the fantastic weather!

salt1 · 27/05/2012 11:32

hope you are ok springflowers, it is such a wierd time i think.

i was wondering if anyone else is waking really early. i was up at 5.30 yesterday, which is not my usual saturday waking hour. and 6.30 this morning, though today i did a gentle hour on the allottment, but shattered now.

have a great sunday everyone x

tinyeyes123 · 27/05/2012 11:37

Totally with you in the early waking salt1, it's driving me (and poor hubby) mental! Seeing as I've got no other symptoms at least it reminds me something's happening!

mrsbugsywugsy · 27/05/2012 12:49

salt me too!

I'm also desperately thirsty when I wake up.

Tugstonia · 27/05/2012 16:19

I'm also waking up at 5am ish every day, and v thirsty even though I drink loads of water during the day... bloody annoying! This morning I was able to go back to sleep though which was good. No other symptoms now though, except occasional metallic taste. Had of wave of nausea yesterday and got quite excited as reminded me I'm pregnant!

mrsbugsywugsy · 27/05/2012 16:26

has anyone else had a nasty burning in their throat? Is this heartburn?

Also feeling really tired on and off. Yesterday DP and I went for quite a short walk in the countryside and by the end of it I felt like totally wiped out.

I have a busy week at work (going to London twice) and not sure how I am going to cope, especially on the tube in the heat.

Does anyone know if the brown spotting is something that needs reporting to the docs? Or is it a case of just waiting and seeing? Anything I can do to improve my chances of it being OK?

Pascha · 27/05/2012 20:38

Hi everyone. Had my booking in appointment at home this morning, I'm 8+5 so until the scan says otherwise i'm definitely due 01/01/13. Still feeling very nauseous most of the time and achy boobs but no stretching of clothes yet.

An interesting point about pain relief came up when we were discussing my previous labour. She asked what pain relief I had and I said gas&air which was lovely and a pethidine injection which did bugger all. She laughed and said talking to a visiting consultant one day recently he asked whether opiate based drugs were still used here anymore as lots of places are moving away from it because it doesn't actually relieve pain as such, just sedates the mother a little so the doctor can go away and do something else for a bit.

For an experienced midwife to admit to that and partially agree with it and openly admit it to me made me Shock and actually Grin a bit because I know I can trust her implicitly to not push anything I don't want.

BionicEmu · 27/05/2012 21:30

mrsbugsywugsy I guess it could be heartburn, you could try gaviscon and if it helps then I guess it is! My hayfever has given me a terribly itchy throat, which also burns sometimes. Usually it's just eyes and nose, so goodness' knows where the throat thing's come from. If you're at all concerned about spotting you could call your gp? I only say call, not visit, because I've taken to just calling them for almost everything. I always get it into my head that I don't want to waste their time if something turns out to be nothing, so a couple of mins on the phone at their convenience is much less time than a 10 minute appointment! They hardly ever examine you anyway, so most things can be sorted over the phone, they'll make you an appt if they need to see you. Plus it saves dragging toddler DS to the surgery and waiting an age as they're always running late Grin

Pascha, wow, a booking appt at home! Ours are all at doc surgery. FWIW, 2 doses of pethidine did nothing for me, but they gave it to me alongside 2 temazepam tablets after stalling labour to try and let me get some sleep, not just for pain. They said that because I've been taking opiod painkillers for years I've probably built up a tolerance. Fingers crossed if I get that far this time I'll be pushing for remifentanyl pump!

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 28/05/2012 08:11

Hi new folks, and sorry to hear about the scan cogitosum and incaminka, and the poorliness bugsy

I'm getting the feeling very thirsty thing too - had it before last week so I don't think it's just the weather - although that's a very handy excuse at work :)

Not really having cravings as such but my preferences have changed a bit over the last couple of weeks - normally, althoguh I love sweet things, I'm more a savoury person. If we were snacking I'd prefer a bag of kettle chips over a bag of malteasers and I'd prefer a starter over a pudding.... until now! All of a sudden I can't be doing with the savoury stuff and just want fruit, chocolate, sweeties and so on! It's not good though - my jammie bottoms were a bit tighter yesterday and at 5 weeks I really can't claim it's a bump Blush

mrsbugsywugsy · 28/05/2012 09:01

Thanks Bionic. I called my GP this morning half expecting them to tell me to go away and stop worrying, but they want me to come in this morning.

Are you taking anything for your hayfever? I've read varying things about which medication we're allowed to take, so I've stopped mine for now.

I had a gaviscon last night and it did seem to help.

Interesting re. Pethidine Pascha

Hope everyone else is well
