Working tax credits should kick in for last 3 months as still officially working, so may be an option to look into that. Remember to account for child benefit, which helps a bit.

rowingdowntheriver · 19/04/2012 07:58

Thanks everyone for your welcomes Smile. The thread moved so fast that I've tried to keep up but am sure I will have missed things.

eversomuch, how funny that we are in the same boat! I actually went back to work part-time 4 weeks ago so it has been a huge challenge coping with that, managing childcare for DS and dealing with the morning sickness and tiredness. I told my boss yesterday and she was fab. Gave me a big kiss and said we'd have to make sure my work doesn't creep into my days off and that she'll try to ensure I can work from home as much as possible! Perfect!

apple I'm a complete tea addict so have tried lots of different decaf tea bags and there is a massive variety in terms of quality. Waitrose for example are disgusting but Yorkshire tea (not the gold label one) are fab. Tastes so like normal tea that I can't tell the difference.

I'm thinking of going for a swim today - with my first baby I did no exercise and put on quite a bit of weight and even 1 year after the birth I hadn't managed to shake off. Having said that, this will only be the second time I will have been swimming since I conceived!

NervousAt20 · 19/04/2012 08:26

Morning all :-)

apple my EDD is the 14th Nov too lol snap! I tried to update me on the list but my phone just refused so would be very grateful if someone could add me on please :)

Going to be a long day today, waiting for my last exam result :(

horseylady · 19/04/2012 08:57

Scan today!!!! I'm so scared the bump won't be there!! Had a fab nights sleep though!! Feel human again!! I have no understanding of the nhs maternity pay. I'm not a shift worker under afc so just get standard pay etc. Anyway will report back after scan this afternoon/evening! Have fun days!!

thereistheball · 19/04/2012 09:16

Nebbo - congratulations! How are you feeling?

I am sure you'll be inundated with cute matching pairs of stuff Smile

PetiteRaleuse · 19/04/2012 09:29

Morning. Just briefly logged in from the office to let you know my scan was fine -measuring just a day under now but that's no problem and my due date is confirmed as 2 November though will have a section a week or two before :)

Good luck to the others having their scan today

Elizadoesdolittle · 19/04/2012 09:39

Congrats to those ladies that had successful scans yesterday. It's lovely reading such happy news.

horseylady all the very best for yours later today. The scan stat list has got a bit buried so I can't see who else is coming up but good luck to any other lady's who have scans today.

I'm 10+6 today. Feeling fine, no weird cravings, I just find I have to eat fairly regularly. I need to drink more water but I just forget! Has never been my strong point. In my first pregnancy I was quite active exercise wise. I went swimming, aqua natal and pregnancy Pilates which was fab. Once my 12 wk scan is done I'll try and get into the swing of things again. I think the Pilates really helped my posture and was so relaxing too. Will be doing that again when I'm bigger! I sound like a bit of a fitness freak. That couldn't be further from the truth. I find keeping mobile helps me in pregnancy. When not pregnant I love nothing more than sitting on the sofa Blush

And fingers crossed for Peaky, Horsey and Itala.

I am going to try to do some housework today. Or ironing. The house is a tip and the ironing pile is beyond scary. Feeling rubbish but will power on through with the help of those dextrose tablets or Lucozade.

Just had lasagne and a big bowl of salad for lunch... at 11.15 a.m. That would signal the end of the nausea and the start of the weight gain then!

OP posts:
izzybizzybuzzybees · 19/04/2012 11:32

I can't add myself as I'm on phone. I have a scan today at 3ish after my booking and then my 12 week one on 1st May. Should be 10+3 today I think!

Stuntnun · 19/04/2012 11:40

Newsflash I just managed to eat (and enjoy) some chocolate for the first time in weeks. I'm 11 weeks today so it looks like the first trimester nausea/food aversions is coming to an end now. I want to start blooming asap!

Victorious03 · 19/04/2012 12:30

Hi Ladies,

Lovely to hear all the good news from recent scans.

I'm still awaiting my 12 week scan :( . Although I do have my booking in appt tomorrow and am hoping that will get the wheels in motion with our hospital.

Still feeling v. nauseous and having lots of food aversions.

However, Spicy tomato snaps seem to be a firm favourite for me at the moment. I'm sure people at work will start to notice soon as i have been getting them from the work sandwich van every day for the past two weeks, whoops.

Hope the good news continues and look forward to hearing the next scan updates.

DesperateHousewife21 · 19/04/2012 12:34

Just marking my place so I can keep up!

Feeling v sick today. Keeping food down, finding it hard to think of foods I want to eat.

Chunkychicken · 19/04/2012 12:34

Hi all.

Have had to speed-read as at work, so here goes...

Detective the money thing sucks. I only get 2 weeks full, 4 weeks 90% and 18 weeks half maybe? Can't remember exactly, then the rest up 39 wks is SMP, last 13 wks unpaid. Thankfully, DH is well ish paid so we can (just) cope as long as its not twins. One thought though is, if you change mortgage providers, they have to value the property themselves and you can sometimes get deals, like it for nothing or get the money back once the mortgage is complete. Our house move at the mo means we've paid for the full home buyers survey, but get the £175 or whatever it is back for the valuation report, once the sale is complete. Try shopping around (moneysupermarket) or something and see if you can get a better deal. If you're not tied in by anything other than equity, it might be possible to get a better deal iyswim.

Great news for all those that have had scans/feeling better/not been sick/eaten nice food.

Been much less sick myself, but eating helps - hence the fat tum!!!

Anyway, have lots to catch up on - not working 2 days a week means I lose a LOT of time for some reason!!! That, and not working much over the break when I should have been catching up rather than snoozing/vomming...

Good luck with any more scans today/tomorrow if I don't check in before! :)

ShellyBobbs · 19/04/2012 13:47

Have just been into the office today, my boss's mouth dropped open and she asked me how far along I was (10+1), when I told her, she marched me through the office telling everyone to look how big my bust and belly were for someone who isn't even 3 months yet! The embarrassing thing is, they were just staring at my food baby and not a real baby bump lol :)

Will have to remember to get some granny knickers after on the school run, these bloody things are cutting into me now........

Oh and had to have my dinner at MD's today as it was the only food place around for miles, scoffed a veggie deli meal, mozzarella sticks and an apple pie. It was all greasy shit but didn't make me feel sick, think I'm almost out of the sickness now YAY Grin

daisychain76 · 19/04/2012 14:03

shellyBobbs I am jealous. I actually turned down the offer of an MD's today, which is unheard of for me! My head really, really wants it, but my stomach says no! Feel like I am living on treacle toffee, yogurt and honey, crackers and innocent smoothies atm. Also have a random craving for a ready cooked chicken but am holding out as can't see why I would actually want that?!

Mortgages are a complete pain. We are stuck on a variable rate one for the forseeable future cos no mortgage company will take into account a phd bursary (guaranteed for three years) as income.

Great to hear lots of good news from scans and good luck to those who have them in the next day or two.

LittleLolly · 19/04/2012 14:08

Good luck with the scans today... Mine is Monday I will be 12+4. Very excited and a bit nervous for the scan!

I've just heard my baby's heartbeat :) I bought an angelsounds Doppler, as soon as I popped it on my tummy I could hear the little heart pounding away! Shed a few tears, can't wait for the Mr to get home to hear it too! It was only £19, definitely recommend it! Grin

shanelle5 · 19/04/2012 14:08

Does anyone else feel ridiculously HUGE for someone is only still 11/12 weeks? I have a proper belly, I feel like I should be at least 4months, probably 5 Shock. For me its because a) Ive had 4 babies already so my "stomach muscles" are completely shot and the bean just flopped right out there around week 6 Blush and b) most of its FAT as like most of you I cant stop scoffing complete crap. Crisps seem to be the thing ATM dont they? Someone mentioned spicy tomato, and lots of you on S+V but for me its scampi fries. Strong and spicy MMmmm. Standing in the playground unsuccesfully trying to suck in my tum whilst being asked HOW many weeks did you say you were???? I did look up pregnancy yoga in my area earlier and found a good class. I enjoyed reading all about it from the comfort of my sofa whilst eating banana bread LOL

daisychain76 · 19/04/2012 14:18

Snap shanelle5 I feel huge (and this is only my third DC). Asked DH if my stomach looked a lot larger last night and he said not really, but it was more "rounded". Don't know if this is pregnancy paranoia creeping in, but I've interpreted that to mean I usually have a huge, sagging stomach....
