Hello, can I join you?

I had my 12 week scan yesterday and am due 1st Nov. This will be my second baby, first is a 13 month old DS. For the stats I am 34 years old.

Nothing especially exciting to report - I've got the usual nausea and tiredness but nothing too extreme.

I'll be back later to catch up on the threads and join in some more!

DesperateHousewife21 · 18/04/2012 07:23

ew your 20 week scan is the same day as my 16 week app with the mw!

rowing welcome to the thread and congrats on your scan :)

10 weeks today and still 23 days til the scan, ages!

DonnaDoon · 18/04/2012 07:38

OK Morning everyone Hope you all ok and welcome new ladies, Now I assure you Im no bullsh*er but Im lying in bed with my kids watching milkshake and I can feel flutters and I felt them in the bath last night. With my other kids I about 15 or 16 wks along but I am so aware of my body this time its unreal. Before anyone says its wind...Im sure its not...what do you think guys ? Also may be further along than thought 7 wk scan dated me 1st nov tho.

ditsygem · 18/04/2012 09:34

Jenbird and Brockle you made me LOL with the supermarket shop - I am so with you. I went shopping hungry last night and with weird pregnancy cravings I ended up with pasta and garlic bread (nice and normal) and then strawberry laces, olives and feta, popcorn, orangeaid, mango juice and mini cheddars. DH just laughed when I got home and he unpacked the bags.

10 weeks today - woo!

Bluetinkerbell · 18/04/2012 09:37

anyone else suffering from really bad headaches?

Stuntnun · 18/04/2012 09:51

Blue I'm exactly the same. Apparently it's normal for this stage but baby brain won't let me remember what causes them.

OP posts:
ShellyBobbs · 18/04/2012 09:55

Well the oil slick wasn't as bad this morning, just the pimply chin waving at me in the mirror. My mum bought me some Liz Earle skin stuff that I slapped on yesterday and with all the scrubbing and stuff seems to have done the trick for now.

Last night / this mornings craving, large baguette filled with pesto, mozzarella, tomatoes, olive oil, salt, pepper and balsamic glaze, just scoffed a massive slab of it and thoroughly enjoyed it, only the salt and vinegar crisp missing because I've eaten them all :(

My thighs are disgusting, they look like they are made out of dough and are just horribly massive, my arse looks the same too, it's barely fitting in my knickers now so am going to give in and buy some granny ones that I can tuck my flab into :)

I'm off for a bath now, time I got the razor out I remind myself of gorillas in the mist at the moment.

My house also looks like a bomb has hit it because I'm just slobbing about on the settee eating lol.

horseylady · 18/04/2012 09:57

Blue the worst headaches!!! Blood pressure ok. I'm just not sleeping though :( actually going to take some painkillers shortly. I'll be in work clothes!! As just popping out for the scan (well finishing slightly early). I'm quite nervous actually!!

If all is ok I'm going to book the nct classes and start yoga/pilates!!!

Brockle · 18/04/2012 10:21

Hello rowing. Lucky you having your scan, three weeks today for me.

The in laws are coming over today and I am cooking fish pie. Really cannot face it and wish I hadn't suggested it. Still in PJ's watching Glee with no real impulse to get off the sofa.

Been lurking on the April 2012 thread as it is so nice to hear about all the babies being born in quick succession. Reminds me where we will be in thirty weeks or less Smile

applepieinthesky · 18/04/2012 10:24

ditsygem ? I?m 10 weeks today as well Smile

horsey ? good luck with the scan.

Anyone else got the munchies? The amount I have eaten in the last couple of days is unreal. I?m always hungry.

Yesterday I had a flapjack for breakfast, some crisps, sandwiches for lunch, 2 cakes, my dinner, ice cream, a chocolate bar and at 11 I was starving again and had a pasty. I woke up this morning and was still hungry so I cut off some cheddar cheese and ate it in the car on the way to work Blush

Hello

Headaches & spots/ oil slick are both caused by surging hormones/ hormone imbalance, again they should settle by the end of the first trimester. I had both with DD1 (spots were so bad a friend of DH commented - he thought I had an allergic reaction to insect bites Shock - we hadn't told anyone at that point) Didn't get either with DD2 and only a few headaches & REALLY dry skin this time - so is it pink or blue?

The chunky legs convo reminded me: just after I had given birth (within 48hrs) I saw myself in a full length mirror and could not get over how amazing my legs looked - all long and thin and my trousers flapped round them, I hadn't thought they had swelled much (just my ankles in the last week) but it made me feel sooo good about myself. I shall look forward to that again after my beached whale summer Wink

Good luck with todays scans

daisychain76 · 18/04/2012 11:09

When in labour with DS I remember profusely apologising to the MW cos I hadn't shaved my legs! This time around, really don't think I'II have the energy to care! One of my best friends spotting my travel sick bands today and asked if I was pregnant. Managed a really unconvincing "no" then burst out laughing. I am so poor at this not-telling-til-12-weeks stuff. I didn't realise 2nd trimester wasn't til 13 weeks, always thought it was 12. Groan, even longer to go...

DesperateHousewife21 · 18/04/2012 11:36

Just got my baby pack from sainsbo. I got: big pack of Huggies baby wipes, sanex shower gel, metanium cream (handy for ds!), 2 nursing pads, Kleenex tissues, comfort washing conditioner and a travel changing mat.
All v nice stuff but what I really wanted we're the bootees but I didn't get any :(

horseylady · 18/04/2012 12:11

I need to register for some freebies lol!! I also needto join the Facebook group....

misslaughalot · 18/04/2012 12:35

Hi you lovely pregnant ladies. I've definitely moved into the headache group. My backache from yesterday has worked its way up my body and firmly set up home in my head. Don't want to take painkillers if I can help it, but if it hasn't shifted with another night's sleep I may give in tomorrow.
I'm also using moisturiser by the bucket load on my face as my skin is horribly dry.
When do we start glowing?!?!

WaitingForMe · 18/04/2012 13:55

Have you been trying 4Head? I've mentioned it before but it really does help the headaches and it's topical so no pills.

I just felt my stomach and I think I see what you guys mean regarding feeling your uterus! I feel a bit less blobby today - my stomach looks more bump like.

In other news my boobs have grown again. They are absurd but have pretty much stopped hurting.

Chunkychicken · 18/04/2012 13:56

Some headaches here, don't normally get them. Not too severe, just nagging iyswim.

Feeling less sick, which is slightly concerning at times, then realise its only been like an hr since the last retching/near vom session & I've eaten since then, so relax a bit!!! Also, I think the hormones start settling at about 9wks, so hope that could be why too.

Didn't give a monkeys about my bikini line/legs last time - once I couldn't see/reach it, who cares??!! If anyone had a problem with that, they could shave it themselves!! Wink This time, though, I think I might care more, as its the summer & I'm hoping the weather will be good enough to get my legs out.(Although bikini line may suffer!! Shock )

Finally, don't wear nice clothes or pants for the scan - the gel goes EVERYWHERE!!! Grin

horseylady · 18/04/2012 13:59

I'm planning on glowing after my scan lol!! I just want to stop feeling so tired!! My colleague at work was like 'oh I had no side effects of pregnancy' lucky her!!

Chunkychicken · 18/04/2012 14:02

Just made a quick macaroni cheese - pasta, mascarpone, ham, cheddar. Delicious even if I do say do myself Grin

WaitingForMe · 18/04/2012 14:26

I hope you're right about hormones settling around 9 weeks Chunkychicken as I'm really ready for a break. I haven't thrown up today and feel marginally brighter and really want the feeling to last!

ValiumQueen · 18/04/2012 14:28

I thought hormones peaked at 9-12 wks

WaitingForMe · 18/04/2012 14:36

Welcome rowing. I love this list, its really supportive and has really helped alot, hope you like it to.

horseylady · 18/04/2012 15:14

Mine calmed down for about 3 days at around week 9/10 then came back with avegence by the middle to end of week 10 lol!! That happened to coincide with Easter and not being at work!! IMO work is the killer!! How you mums with little people cope I do not know!! My normal 60-70 hour week kills me!!
