aBundanceOfTime · 08/04/2012 16:08

Beautiful pics Kayzr Smile

Fantastic Trouble, glad to be of assistance Grin
47! Very imppressive, good luck! Grin

Ghost, Poseidon nearly had me then, I was shouting at the phone "that IS fucking Triton!" Blush

Haha that's great Ellie Grin I love spotting people on TV! My last one was my first teenage crush/kiss/boyfriend being interviewed on DIY SOS (he was volunteering his dry stone walling skills) looking rather fit. DP was a bit Hmm and I was Grin
I also commented that I thought 'laser' was spelt with a 'z'!

Fools I was laughing my head off at tent, DP was also most amused Grin

Spoke to Trope earlier (wished her a 'happy chocolate day' too by coincidence - like your style Fools Wink) she had a check up at hospital, everything (BP, urine and bloods) looking good. She's having an inevitably gorgeous roast in one of my favourite establishments Envy

Trope, had a lovely couple of days with the clan thanks Smile Had Morrocco's ice cream yesterday (be rude not to take them ay?) how have I never had the blueberry one until now?? Amazing! Shock The kids had a lovely time Smile

Ooh kitchen timer going off, lasagne ready! Mmmm

Loved Greenday Davina!! Grin

Kayzr · 08/04/2012 19:35

I just want to apologise for my pictures. I thought it would be a good idea to do some while on the way home. But drawing when your sat in a car is pretty hard. Grin

foolserrand · 08/04/2012 21:53

Evening all! Having spent the day at my parents', it took me 2 hours to catch up with that Damned game!

Dh has told me one of his members of staff will be off next week and am thus not allowed to sprog. I find this incredibly unfair since I am about read to burst! This may well be turkey but I can be hopeful that baby is close... even though the bump is high, the nursery is not yet painted, the furniture has not arrived, the car seat and crib are at my parents'.... wow, I need to pull my finger out!

Got some good news though, while sorting through baby clothes to find unisex ones and I found a huge box full of clothes for ds now! Just as I was about to buy him new ones.

Any news on Trope, Fuzzy and Rob? (pretty sure that's her oh).

Sad story, my friend's friend had a baby yesterday. She's diabetic and so was induced 2 weeks early. After a week of intervention, she was so stressed she had an epidural at 1 cm. Ends well though, she has now got a lovely, healthy baby boy.

That story just makes me glad we are all behind each other. Strength in numbers and all that!

bun, I am so sorry about Ikea! It was genius, I am stupid! [bublush]
Thinking of you trope! [busmile]

elliebug · 08/04/2012 23:31

fools you just gave me a heart attack!! Your friends friend is being induced for the same reason I will be, I got as far as sad story and diabetic and totally panicked!! oh shit, the placenta failed, very poorly baby or worse thoughts Heart rate returning to normal now, think that's another tick in the elective section box!! I figure as long as you have nappies, some clothes and boobs/bottles+formula baby will be fine, shops are always open [busmile] I too am ready to burst so please can you hurry up do its my turn[buwink]
Will catch up on drawing ASAP

Kayzr · 09/04/2012 03:47

I need sleep!! [busad] I'm so fed up of not being able to sleep. I'd like just 1 full nights sleep.

We're having a baby name wobble. We've had her name picked for about 14 weeks now. But now we aren't too sure about it. [buconfused]

elliebug · 09/04/2012 07:49

kayzr I feel your lack of sleep, I finally manage to get comfy then have to wake for a wee or cos my hip hurts so I have to turn over, not easy anymore!! I find bbc news 24 aids sleep[busmile] we had a mega stress when I decided our fave girls name was too chavy! We did find something else and now we need a boys name, boys are hard, got 4 weeks to at least make a short list and it's not going well. You CAN call a child peanut though cant you [bugrin]

Davinaaddict · 09/04/2012 10:15

Ok I'm clearly spending way too much time drawing! [bugrin] I hope everyone had a lovely Easter and managed to eat lots of chocolate.

I left Lauren with Daddy a lot yesterday, so I could catch up on some quality time with DS. We made chocolate nests and did lots of reading and playing - it was lovely [busmile]

But on the other hand I'm now a terrible mother to Lauren. Not only do I use shields, co-sleep and Lauren sleeps on her side (even though I put her down on her back most of the time ), but yesterday I gave her a dummy [bushock][bublush] She spends so much time sucking her fingers or asking for milk to then fall asleep within 30 seconds of being attached, that I thought it worth a try to see if it would help settle her. She slept for about 3 hours solid! [bugrin] DS was a very sucky (for comfort) baby too so I shouldn't be surprised really. So Daddy got some peace and quiet, and I managed a long shower and about 10 minutes sleep before she was back up for feeding.

We've tried swaddling so many times now, but Lauren hates having her arms trapped so we now just do up to under her arms with the cellular blankets. We have loads from DS, so we've been using them. Mostly white but a few blue ones [bugrin]

Lovely pictures Kayzr [busmile] I think a name change is also in order ignores the fact I've been trying to come up with something witty and clever for me since about October [bugrin] Sorry about the baby name wobble - I'm sure it's lovely and will be perfect. But if not and you're still not happy, then we can always help you come up with another one [buwink] We found it much easier naming Lauren than Matthew, so hopefully you will too, I'd you do decide to change it. Hope you manage to catch up on some sleep soon. Is your DH still home? Can you grab an afternoon nap while he looks after the boys? I know it's not the same but might help you to feel a bit more rested?

I love the random comments on here now - I went looking back at the thread after Trouble's 'Sorry about Ikea' comment, thinking I'd missed something [bublush][bugrin]

Hope you're feeling ok today trope [busmile]

Kayzr · 09/04/2012 10:27

Davina New nicknames are hard. I now share a surname with the lady you are addicted too so I was thinking about McKayz at the minute.

Davinaaddict · 09/04/2012 11:44

Ooh like it! [bugrin]

TroubleAndFyfe · 09/04/2012 11:53

Happy chocolate scoffing weekend all! :)

All quiet here, having my 48 hourly obs done (all fine, BP reduced even further thanks to the meds, urine back to trace protein, bloods all normal and CTG on fuzzy looking fine - they all comment on what a happy wiggly baby he is!) and a sweep each time for good measure. Still only 1cm dilated with the cervix quite high (starting to wonder if I just have some kind of freakishly high uterus/cervix and it's never going to come down!!) but the sweeps are getting easier/hurting less, so there is some progress I assume!

On the advice of pretty much every medical professional we've come into contact with in the last week, we are using the only tools in our arsenal to get things moving; sex and nipple tweaking!! Amazingly sex seems to have a pretty direct and clear effect on things; I start getting cramps, an uptick in BHs and possibly even some proper contractions, plus the mucus plug is continuing to come away (just how much can there be???)

(Warning - possibly TMI) I was initially not at all keen on the idea of sex whilst the size of a whale and so uncomfortable/sore from the sweeps, but it turns out it's bloody amazing!! Admittedly positions etc are rather limited, but oh my god!! So whilst i'm very much ready for fuzzy to come out, it's certainly a lot more fun waiting now we're home!! Wink

Regarding scans/sizing - what I was told by numerous obstetricians/sonographers was that one off scans simply are not reliable, particularly in the latter months and you need a series of regular ones to get anything like a reliable figure. With our fortnightly scanning we had one or two anomalous scans with odd sizing, but as we had so many overall we could see the trend and hopefully get a rough idea of how big fuzzy is. That being said, even with fortnightly scans I gather they can be up to a pound out! Hopefully we shall find out how accurate all our scans were soon!!

Also the NICE guidance is not to induce just because the scan/measurements suggest a big baby - there would have to be other compelling medical reasons (such as diabetes, as Ellie has) so hopefully you will still get your homebirth Kayzr :)

We bought one of these to try to get fuzzy to sleep. I had planned on just swaddling with regular blankets, but figured with my bad arthritic hands I might struggle to do them up/get them right, whereas a nice simple zip should be easy enough to manage (I hope!) :) We have only bought one to start with, in case he hates it and have a stack of blankets etc to use as well. If he likes it, we'll buy a load more (hopefully on ebay so they are cheaper!!). The plan is that once he's big enough / grown out of the startle reflex a bit, we'll move him into sleeping bags. The only thing i'm not sure about is whether it'll be warm enough on his own - I would imagine he'll need a blanket over him as well, at least until the weather warms up a bit?

fools yep Rob is DP - knew i'd slip up eventually!! All these acronyms make my head hurt!!

Bun I'm a strawberry and banana Marrocco's person myself - but they're all nice! Glad you had a nice time with your sister & co! :) Lunch at the connaught was amazing - they do the most incredible roasts (they'd have to be - they're so expensive!!) The roast beef is so good though - I could eat it every day atm!! Skipped dessert for once though - came home and had easter egg instead!! Grin

We have an appt/check up with my regular obst's cover tomorrow (the nice one that let me go home!) so we'll find out then if all the shagging has had any effect!! I'm not sure what to expect in terms of plans for the coming week. I'm happy to keep checking/sweeping and waiting but suspect there will be pressure to have a c-section booked in. I see my regular obst next Monday (when i'll be 40+5) and I think at that point I will give up and agree to a c-section as I don't want to risk going too late given my health problems. DP and I had agreed (prior to this whole pre-eclampsia nonsense) that we'd go to 41 weeks and I still feel like that's the right choice. The only thing i'm toying with, is whether it's possible to break my waters, but have a c-section booked for later that day in case it doesn't work - so there's no danger of them trying to force me onto syntocinon if things don't happen and the theatre is busy. But I'd want my obst around - I'm not sure I trust anyone else not to try and force syntocinon / epidural etc on me - and without the c-section booked I'd be worried about them saying that the theatre was busy and I had no choice but syntocinon... will ask about that tomorrow, but suspect it'll be a discussion to have next week with my regular obst. In the meantime, I live in hope that things will get going naturally!

I'm feeling pretty nervous about going back to RSCH for the labour; last week was so horrible that it's really undermined my trust in the place. (Which is sad, as there were some really lovely people amongst the horrid ones). I want to get a birth plan / plan for the coming week summarised in really big bold type and stuck on the front of my notes - with my consultant's signature highlighted in bold at the bottom! Preferably saying that I'm allowed on the delivery ward earlier than the senior midwife said and that I'm to be given access to the birth pool for pain relief. If this isn't possible, we're toying with getting in the car and driving up to my dads (that'll be a fun hour and a half drive!) as he lives near the highest rated maternity unit in the south east and at the very least they can't be any worse than RSCH... Of course that only really works if I go into labour naturally, if I need a c-section I'd have to talk to them/contact them about transferring my care... going to wait and see what tomorrow brings anyway!

Hope you are all having a lovely bank holiday - we are doing roast lamb for dinner (slow cooked in stock in the oven for 4 hours, mmm) and going to the supermarket to pick up a few bits and pieces so I can get my hospital bag repacked/stocked! Then it's sofa, DVD, chocolate and slobbing out (and probably more sex!! Wink)

elliebug · 09/04/2012 13:32

trope glad to hear everything is going ok, baby sounds very happy where s/he is!! I'm very impresses your managing sex at all!! We thought about it a while back but errr couldn't make it work Blush you must be super flexible Grin enjoy

Davinaaddict · 09/04/2012 13:59

Hi trope - glad you're feeling good and enjoying being at home [bugrin]

I don't believe they can force you into anything you don't want and you have to sign a consent form for the epidural at least. Breaking my waters really helped me to progress first time round (I was fully dilated when they did it this time!). Contractions, lots of dilation, the works [busmile]. But then they did put me on the drip to counteract the epidural (clearly a big wuss [bugrin]). Fingers crossed you'll get a good HCP that will book you in for a CS. Hopefully you're hospital has a different process to us - all the ELCS are booked for the morning so the last one is about half 11am. Also when I went in for my waters breaking first time, although I was there for 11am, they didn't actually do it until gone half 5 [buconfused] This was because they didn't want me going into labour without a full MW team available, and it was very busy. As I said hopefully, things will be better for you but this might help you prepare for every eventuality [busmile]

We finally got our furniture sorted and have just taken delivery of the change unit [busmile] We just need to wait for the bookshelf to arrive now but that is going to be 12 weeks apparently [buhmm]

aBundanceOfTime · 09/04/2012 20:59

Trope I have a few of these for Lilly, a fair bit cheaper than the one you linked to if fuzzy gets on with swaddling.
WRT to sleeping bags, they come in different tog ratings for different times of the year. I have a Gro bag one and it comes with a little chart to show what clothes the baby should wear underneath depending on tog rating and room temperature, I can dig it out if you need it.

Another possible sex related TMI, I've found things have improved during and after each pregnancy. Definite restrictions on position possibilities in the last trimester Grin

Your idea of breaking waters with a c-section booked in sounds like a great option if it's possible. Consultant's notes/instructions for your care on your birth notes too. Anything to avoid the nightmare you had last week. Best of luck for tomorrow, hope you can figure out a course of action that suits you Smile

elliebug · 09/04/2012 21:07

I'm concerned that the max weight of the swaddle pods is only 14lb, that doesn't leave much growing room for my little elephant!!
Am off to get a Karma sutra ?spelling, if you all can manage it I don't want to be left out!! [bugrin]

aBundanceOfTime · 09/04/2012 21:13

Do it Ellie! At worst it's good for a giggle Grin

Yes, the zip ones are small, don't know why they don't do them bigger. Think they'll last Lilly for another few weeks, so about 3-4months, they've stretched out a fair amount with wear/washing.

elliebug · 09/04/2012 21:20

I'm having a grumpy day so need a laugh!! Waterstones maybe?
Might see if I can find one in Tesco and see how much it stretches!!! (swaddle pod not bookGrin)

aBundanceOfTime · 09/04/2012 21:56

Haha I was wondering about a stretchy Kama Sutra! Grin
Waterstones should stock it yes Smile

foolserrand · 09/04/2012 22:34

ellie, tis online. But am sure you could Google suitable 3rd trimester positions. I will be trying that myself in a bit Also, am sorry for scaring you with my tale. Just thought it was so terribly sad but could serve as a heads up to those of us left.

Trope! Hi! Best of luck tomorrow! Sounds like you are sorted plans wise. They do sound very sensible.

Bun once again, I'm sorry. I fear you've suffered a bit with my drawings today. Actually, you all will have. Ds was "helping" on and off all day and now bump is awake and bouncing my frikking hand all over.

Does anyone else have this storm going? It's loud!

aBundanceOfTime · 09/04/2012 23:11

Fools, I've had unwanted assistance from the kiddlywinks today too, no worries Grin In fact I think DS was on it earlier without DP noticing (DS does puzzles etc on it sometimes) so if something went awry more than usual it's probably because you were drawing for a 3 year old. Although he's freakishly good on that phone so he was probably better than me anyway Grin

foolserrand · 10/04/2012 07:28

Davina, I have had a rubbish night's sleep and have woken up with a headache. Just saw your audience picture and cannot stop laughing. Thank you so much!
