Sorry to hear the news from pip, it's so sad.

I'm still feeling incredibly nauseous. Finding it very hard looking after my 1 yr old today, especially dealing with dirty nappies! Feel a bit guilty as of course he just wants to play and I just want to sit quietly!
Am working tomorrow, not sure if that will be better or worse!

Take care everyone. X

Evilwater · 10/04/2012 18:34

Foo and pip- keep well, and as for that order I'll try and comply.

To the lady that is getting a new car- I'm getting a skoda estate, a brand new one.

Any one else in the nhs looking at thier qualifying block? My temporary manger has been fantasic. I tried to inform hr but they only work 9-5 as I'm working nights it's a bit of a bummer.

DesperateHousewife21 · 10/04/2012 18:42

pink try not to worry I know it's easy to say but its more likely you'll get good news rather than bad :)

Am rather looking forward to my booking in app tomorrow, get the ball rolling and should hopefully get my scan date either late this week or early next week.
Roll on the next 3 weeks! Two people today said how fast my preg had gone already but it really doesn't feel like it to me.

NervousAt20 · 10/04/2012 18:54

daisychain with regards to home births would it not worry you that of you went into labour at peak time then if necisary it could take close to an hour to get to hospital? Just wondering your thoughts thats all as I don't no anyone that has ever had a home birth

shanelle5 · 10/04/2012 19:09

So sorry to read the sad news. Hugs and Thanks
On the home birth front, I had one last time with no4. It didnt hurt any less despite being in familiar surroundings etc etc but having 1 midwife with me all the time and her undivided attention is certainly better than Id had in hospital, when you actually give birth you have to have 2 midwives present so a second lady comes in at the final bit, I felt very spoilt. The afterwards part is most certainly better though, nothing like your own bed/bath and unlimited tea and toast! Nice for Dad not to have to leave either. We had a very magical night of just cudding in bed with our new baby before the other kids came home. I am hoping for one again this time, ideally a water birth but we shall see, im open minded as babies follow their own rules of course!

ValiumQueen · 10/04/2012 19:11

thechick an ELCS would be very different from an EMCS. For a start you will know when it is going to happen, can plan well and prepare yourself for it, you will not be terrified thinking that your baby could die, you would be awake for it, and they could take their time with the op as your baby would be fine. Also, I found once I knew I was having an elective, I felt such peace. You could try labouring with the proviso that if anything were to happen outside of your plan, they did a section there and then?

Evilwater · 10/04/2012 19:15

I can't believe that some of you know what birth you want.

Stuntnun · 10/04/2012 19:16

It might be a bit late but I've just heard that if you have MS you shouldn't brush your teeth after puking because it ruins your tooth enamel. I thought I should pass that along because I know I always want to brush my teeth afterwards.

daisychain76 · 10/04/2012 19:20

Nervousat20 tbh hadn't thought of that before, but I guess if they have to send you to hospital in an emergency situation you could probably get an ambulance ride with sirens blaring and get through a lot quicker. Weighing it up, I would still rather be at home. Having said that, with DS and DD I would never have thought of a home birth - I liked the security of being in hospital. It is only cos this is my third time and I know I have quick labours (famous last words!) that I want one this time. Just have to persuade MW and DH now...

spudmama · 10/04/2012 19:27

Gosh been away for the weekend and have come back to sad news, I hope those that have had sad news are being looked after and all the best with whatever you decide for the future.
Yes i do remember the November mantra i say it every day.

Have less than 2 weeks to go for my 12 week scan, has anyone else been told that you ahve to have bloods as well and wont get the NT results straight away? Or is that just due to my age 41.
Someone further up the thread sorry can't remember name said about it being the longest 12 weeks i couldn't agree more although the next 2 until the scan is going to feel like an eternity......

ShellyBobbs · 10/04/2012 19:29

Hi, just wondering if you could add me to the list, I've just found you!

ShellyBobbs (37) DC4 EED 15/11/12

Constant nausea from 4 weeks but research tells me it's probably my underactive thyroid that is causing it (another long story). Bloated beyond belief, last week in my 'normal' clothes and already up a cup size. Scan due 25th of this month.

I have to say, the last 3 pregnancies I sailed through without any worries, but this time round I've been checking myself every morning expecting blood and am now quite dreading the scan; no reason for this, I think it's possibly my age or too much reading about getting my meds bang on for my thyroid!

Anyway, glad I've found you all, my hubby is getting sick of all my moaning already :)

tomatoplantproject · 10/04/2012 19:29

Hello all.

Such sad news over the last few days Sad ladies you all deserve some special luck after going through such rough times.

I have to say, I have no idea what it will be like giving birth and am looking for the security of hospital for the first time around. There's a nice midwife led birthing centre within the hospital grounds that I'm aiming for, although I was warned they were quite strict about who they let go there.

NervousAt20 · 10/04/2012 19:37

Yeh daisychain I supose after 2 births you no what to expect and what's coming so if you feel more comfortable at home then it's what suits you :) one thing that would be off putting aswell is the mess afterwards as I don't think my partner would get his hands stuck in the mess lol

WestWinger · 10/04/2012 19:41

Nervous - there isn't that much mess - not like an abattoir or anything (!) - and I think the midwives clean it all up and leave pretty much no trace of what happened. Lots of plastic sheeting is involved from what I can gather.....! But with your first, I would definitely recommend a hospital type environment - if only for the pain relief options and security of knowing everything is on hand if something goes a bit wonky.

tomatoplantproject · 10/04/2012 19:43

Yes - the mess! I could only imagine giving birth in the kitchen or the living room... What would you do with all the blood and bits? Wash them down the kitchen sink??! Or save it all and chuck it down the toilet? Or does it get magicked away somehow??

tomatoplantproject · 10/04/2012 19:44

Ah x-post westwinger!

daisychain76 · 10/04/2012 19:45

Funnily enough, the mess is my DH's objection - doesn't worry me, I would be busy having my tea and toast!

NervousAt20 · 10/04/2012 19:48

tomatoplant I will deffibatly be going to the hospital hopefully I think it's going to be hard enough anyway and would feel better knowing all medical support is there and at hand. Including pain relief, I'm a wuss and cry at blood tests so labour I can't imagin Grin

Stuntnun · 10/04/2012 19:56

Welcome to the club Shelly. I wonder when the last newbie will be joining us? I didn't find out I was pregnant with DS1 until 9 weeks so it could be a while yet.

jaylee89 · 10/04/2012 20:01

sorry havent been on in a while ms has knocked me about horribly and constantly feel loike a have the flu. have lost just under a stone due to sickness. but today finally got some tablets from doctor woooo and they work bloody wonders. 9?+3 today and midwife on 20 april. hope everyone else is well

DonnaDoon · 10/04/2012 20:13

Welcome shellybobbs love your name.
I thought my ms had passed but give me strength it just wont go...roll on 12 weeks and I cant stay awake past 9pm.

DesperateHousewife21 · 10/04/2012 20:26

I can't stay awake past 9 either, and considering ds has only just gone to blaaaardy sleep I don't have much of an eve!

Tiago · 10/04/2012 20:50

Munchkin is still alive. The sonographer and DH renamed him 'the transformer' Hmm. I am bang on 10 weeks today, and the doc said that it is very unlikely that I will have any problems now. So relieved.

So sorry pip to hear your news.

izzybizzybuzzybees · 10/04/2012 21:00

Sorry to hear the bad news pip

Tiago thats great news and a bit of relief if dr has said things should go ok now :)

applepieinthesky · 10/04/2012 21:24

That's good news Tiagoand welcome Shelly!

Just got home from dropping my forms back to the doctor's surgery so the midwife can read through them before my appointment on friday.

MS is well and truly back today. I was cursing it a couple of weeks ago and then it went away and I was worried my symptoms were easing. Have had sore boobs and twinges again this week so feeling as confident as I can do at the moment.
