Mooooornin scream! I hope mini-scream is watching its calorie intake and staying below 10lbs for you Wink

musicalmrs · 13/04/2012 12:18

Afternoon Scream! You never know, miniScream could surprise you at any moment! 10lbs is a ridiculous birth weight though Wink. I realise I don't know what my DH's birth weight was, I bet he doesn't know either... seeing the MIL this weekend so will have to enquire!

I catch up on here a lot and seem to never get time to post Blush. Hope all the brooking babies are doing wonderfully!

Wants, good luck with the work uniform fitting! I really struggled for my last couple of weeks working with regard to clothes - so much easier now I'm on ML! Glad your nephew is home :)

Little, that dream is fabulous! As is Jen's numberplate..!

Hope everyone else is doing ok. All good here - 35w+5. Saw the midwife this morning, who said LO hasn't properly engaged yet (1/5 engaged according to my notes).. but everything else looking good. BP's a little low, but nothing to worry about! Other than that I've been madly writing bits of my film score all week, had my last official day at work (Wednesday!), and have been bugging the lawyers to get our completion date of 27th April set in stone. Still no word from them.. called first thing this morning and will call again in an hour or so -I'm basically going to annoy them into doing some work! Grin

Must dash - my friend just arrived for the day, hurray!

Wants3 · 13/04/2012 12:27

Hi all, midwife appointment today went well! She said I looked like a proper 'blooming' pregnant woman! Baby is 3/5 engaged :) great to hear the heartbeat again. She did loads of feeling and listening with wooden instrument( probably has official name) as she said she is really interested in bumps at this stage. I am booked in to discuss my birth plan at 37 weeks so I had better write something down just in case this baby has other ideas!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 13/04/2012 12:43

Sooooo jealous of the mostly engaged babies Wants and Musical! Mine has come OUT a bit, the baby is only 4/5 as of Wednesday, sob sob. Yet somehow the piles haven't reduced as a result of this change Hmm

Sounds like an idyllic week Musical! Hurrah for finishing work! Keep bugging the solicitors, it's the only way to get them to do anything! It's so exciting that your completion is around the corner though! Have fun with your friend.

Yay for an excellent mw appt Wants. I'm very intrigued by the wooden instrument?! What does it look like / do?

jaggythistle · 13/04/2012 13:19

hello all.

had a better sleep last night so almost human today, despite the morning endurance test of toddler group!

mine was 4/5 so only a wee bit engaged too scream, that's probably a good thing for me if they are still hanging out back to back in there.

TMI alert - look away now!

nothing too exciting. had a bit of pant snot today because i was stuck having a poo for ages not like an actual show but maybe something is getting ready.

have actually had less pains the last couple of days, just been sore with trapped wind. i think my digestive system is struggling a bit.

can't wait for the next batch to start hatching. :)

Stacks · 13/04/2012 13:33

Afternoon all. So my exciting couple of days reached a peak yesterday, and everything is now normal. Got a phone call from the EPS yesterday at midday which I missed due to a meeting. Called her back and she wanted me to come in for a scan immediately. She said over the phone my HCG was 6000, and that I couldn't do the scan tomorrow, but had booked me in for one at 2pm. We compromised on one at 2:45, and I went along.

So, did a scan yesterday, at 5w+1 and saw one little (1cm) egg sack and embryo. She checked my tubes and ovaries for problems, then discharged me from their care. No heartbeat, but too early to see one so I was expecting that.

I am however wondering if she got the HCG result wrong, and maybe meant to say 600? 6000 at 5 weeks seems far, far more than they were expecting, as they originally said I'd be unlikely to have a scan till next week because everything would be too small before then. I'm wondering a little at the possibility of identical twins hiding in there though... just an idle 'what if' sort of thought. Does anyone know if they'd be able to see that at 5 weeks?

Wants glad your DN is home, and baby seems to be engaging.
Scream sorry your LO seems to be un-engaging!
Musical woo for your LO engaging too.
Munx are you looking forward to maternity leave?
Dream how is your DH, still improving?

Munx2 · 13/04/2012 13:50

stacks that is so exciting, and reassuring. Don't worry about your high levels. With DD I had HCG taken at a similar time and I remember being by surprised at how they had to just doubled but gone supersonic....I can't remember the number though. We had a 6 week scan and saw a blob with a heartbeat but sometimes they don't pick it up until nearer 7. My friend had a 6 week scan which showed no heartbeat and is currently 14 weeks and all is well.

I am so happy for you!

All very exciting with these moving babies and engaged babies, fingers crossed for speedy labours.

It's Ninja going on mat leave soon I think, I am only 17 weeks pg but oh yes I am so looking forward to the mat leave when it comes!

Just had a yummy bacon sandwich.

Munx2 · 13/04/2012 13:54

I am so sorry about all the typos....that post barely makes sense Blush

Wants3 · 13/04/2012 14:14

scream the instrument was like a double ended trumpet, like the midwives used in 'call the midwives'. She used it to listen all over the bump, establish baby's position and then put the dopler in the right place for me to hear the heartbeat. She wasn't my normal midwife but really nice!
musical I posted my last post before reading any others, I hope you didn't think I was trying to beat you in the 'engaged' baby game!? Hooray for engaged babies:)

McPopcornMouseNFries · 13/04/2012 14:17

stacks I'm really pleased all is well :)

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 13/04/2012 14:23

Wants, Musical is definitely winning the engaged baby game!! Soooooo jealous of her 1/5!!! I like the sound of that wooden thingy I wish my mw had one! My mw did once get out a great big metal trumpet type thing, that reminded me of really old photos of old men who've gone deaf holding this kind of instrument to their ear!

Yay for Stacks' good scan. Also great that Jaggy managed to get some sleep - I'm very jealous of that too!

jaggythistle · 13/04/2012 14:26

i just lay down to type that post on my phone and i haven't got up yet Blush

I'll probably need a wee soon though...

scarletfingernail · 13/04/2012 14:27

Wooden instrument is called a Pinard's Stethoscope. They're supposed to be used towards the end of pregnancy as opposed to a doppler as they only pick up the fetal heartbeat and no other noise. It's apparently easier to locate the baby's position using one as the heartbeat is picked up in between the shoulders using one of these.

I'm super Envy of any baby that's in any engaged position who's due date is after mine. I'm particularly worried about mine still being "free" as I'm terrified in case my baby moves back to transverse again.

No signs of anything happening here, just usual aches and pains.

Jaggy pant snot could be a sign?

Stacks what a relief it must have been to see a little sac growing in the right place. My friend had high hormone levels all through her pregnancy, it didn't mean anything in her case, try not to analyse it too much. Although it can be a sign for twins

Great news re your nephew Wants and only 1 more sleep re your DH coming home Smile

Grin at your dream Little

You're getting there Ninja. Your pregnancy seems to be going fast for some reason. Although I guess it doesn't feel like it to you. 4 weeks til mat leave will fly by.

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 13/04/2012 14:38

Jaggy it is important to recuperate properly after strenuous activity such as MNing Grin

Very excited about all these babies engaging Smile. I can't wait for the next round of new snuffly babies (because I need some excitement in my life Grin)

And I agree Scarlet for some reason Ninja's pg seems to be going fast, and Popcorn's too Confused. I'm glad though that we're getting lots of new graduates from the ttc thread - obviously everyone will get here in due course but it's nice to see plenty of BFP wins Smile

I think one of you should have a baby this weekend as a courtesy to those of us with not much planned? Thanking you kindly Smile

Biscuitsandtea · 13/04/2012 14:50

BTW, I've just bumped the brooking stats thread in case any newbies want to add their details on.

I can't link because I'm on my phone. Also if anyone wants to update it I guess we should probably update the list for those of us that have dropped already? I would do it but am only ever on my phone so it's too hard......

Stacks · 13/04/2012 15:19

I'd love twins, but DH looked worried when I suggested it, though he does want 2 kids. It took me such a long time to get here I guess I'd just like to get it all over and done with, just in case. Twins wouldn't really be ideal though, as we'd have a super steep learning curve. One will be hard enough I think. The scan showed one pretty obvious sac, and one tiny blob inside, so I think it's unlikely. I just wondered what the chances were of it not being picked up on a 5 week scan.

Munx I did think it would be a bit soon for maternity leave for you, as I remember you getting your bfp. However, I'm already looking forward to mine!
Ninja glad your maternity leave is coming soon.

I had the whole engaged thing backwards. I thought 1/5 would be least engaged, like a fraction .. i.e. it's head is only 1/5th in the canal as opposed to 4/5ths with escape imminent.

McPopcornMouseNFries · 13/04/2012 15:49

Ohh I thought the same stacks - so 1/5 is very engaged then?? Blush

Biscuits :o it does seem to be flying along now that I've stopped worrying quite so much yes this is me not worrying quite so much thankyouverymuch though the first 12 weeks crrrrrrawled by! How're you and minibiscuits? :)

jenfraggle · 13/04/2012 15:57

The engaged fraction is to do with how much of the head can be felt by the MW so 1/5 would mean very engaged as the MW can only feel 1/5 of it, the rest is in the pelvis

DreamingOfPeace · 13/04/2012 16:42

stacks a friend of a friend had twins 5 days before me- her.first babies. She saw both at 5+2 on scan for pain. No idea how common it is though to miss twins that early, but lots of people popped into the twins thread with two seen at 6 weeks ish? There is Vanishing Twin risk though. My duo are gorgeous but I am so glad they're not my first. I'm struggling not to have them break me with the constant, constant feeding and demands. I'm.glad I have the confidence of having survived one first!!! Plus I loved all the baby massage, swimming, etc I did with DD that this duo won't get. Twins would be lovely though, so i will hope you're joining me in the brooking twins!!

Wants3 · 13/04/2012 16:57

I think it depends on whether the phrase palpable or engaged is used as to whether the first number is more or less IYSWIM! Either way 3/5 is in the middle so i am happy with that. These babies will come when they are ready! My bh have almost been painful this afternoon, they keep making me gasp! At least baby's bottom is not stuck under my ribs anymore!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 13/04/2012 19:15

I also used to think I'd love to have twins - I had this idea it was like getting two babies for the price of one pregnancy! However seeing poor Dream go through the mill with carrying two, and also with my useless body being quite rubbish at just carrying ONE baby, I'm now very grateful I'm not having twins! It's still such a wonderful blessing for hardcore individuals like Dream though. If you can get past the stressful pregnancy (and difficult "fourth trimester") watching twins grow up together must be such a magical experience. I have to say I am now in awe of all twin Mummies!

V impressed with Scarlet's knowledge of medical instruments!

I think when people talk about 1/5, 2/5 etc it always means the amount of the presenting part that is palpable above the pelvis, even though it is sometimes referred to as engagement. I don't think they ever flip it round, otherwise your notes would get pretty confusing!

Can't remember what else I wanted to say! I've just realised that I will be 38 weeks tomorrow though, and that thought makes me surprisingly sad :( I always thought I'd go at 36 weeks like my Mum, and even with all the No Brooking to hang on until after my cs authorisation I never really thought I'd get beyond 37 weeks. Now I'm staring down the barrel of 38 weeks and I've finally realised that this baby is sticking around until the very end! Boo!!!! Sooooooooo sick of being pregnant! On the plus side I have plans for a big "I'm not pregnant anymore - yay!" celebration once I'm recovered from the cs! Personally I think not being pregnant deserves a whole separate celebration to the new baby celebrations! Grin

jenfraggle · 13/04/2012 19:48

I had my first interesting pregnancy dream last night. Up until now I've only dreamt about sitting on the loo which is rather dangerous when pregnant :)

I'd forgotten all about it but am watching Corrie and it's all come back to me, twas a rather rude dream about Steve McDonald :o

scarletfingernail · 13/04/2012 20:01

Grin at jen Did I read on a previous thread under a different topic that you have a bit of a thing for him anyway? The thread about people who's voice you find sexy? I've not been stalking you, honest. I posted on the same thread and remember seeing your name on it and a Steve Mcdonald mention Grin

Don't let it get you down Scream 38 weeks is better than 36, the extra 2 weeks will mean your LO is significantly bigger and stronger. (Although I know you're worrying now about having a 10lber) I'm with you though on having had enough! I had psyched myself up for the ECV not working and having at least been given a date of early next week for an ELCS by now. Instead I've had another 2 ante-natal appointments booked and one's for a week after my due date. I can't go on that long surely?

I have had a lot of shooting type pains downstairs today. The Braxton Hicks have also intensified. I dragged myself out for a walk with DS this afternoon, he ended up pulling me along. How ridiculous must I have looked, a grown woman whose 3 year old was walking faster than me. "Come on Mummy, come on".

OP posts:
jenfraggle · 13/04/2012 20:04

Yes, I think he is very sexy and have done since he was first in it. I do realise I'm on my own there :o

scarletfingernail · 13/04/2012 20:10

Grin I have some extremely bizarre celeb crushes. Thankfully not all of them last that long, Dara O'Briain anyone? Blush I got over that one quickly, I'm very fickle. My latest is Damian Lewis as I'm addicted to Homeland. But I've had a bit of a thing for him since The Forsyte Saga and I love him when he's on Have I Got News For You. And I've always found Jack Dee sexy.
