Coping with DH is good practise scream Grin

I have sacroiliac disfunction so know a little of what you are saying, I ended up with a walking stick at the end of my pg with DD and the severe sciatica is starting now. It certainly isn't as bad as SPD though, here let me get you another Brew.

Chocolate cake anyone?

Munx2 · 12/04/2012 11:38

Brilliant x posting there Pop!

McPopcornMouseNFries · 12/04/2012 11:48

:o

That's interesting, I sort of assumed they'd test preggos for hypothyroidism regularly as it can be quite serious for the baby if undiagnosed, and I'd read it can come on during pregnancy and then disappear again after. My appointment letter with the consultant says to allow 2 hours Shock so I hope think it's going to be relatively thorough?

Munx2 · 12/04/2012 11:52

All I can say from my experience is the two hours is mostly waiting around (sorry)!!!

I had to wait to see the nurse beforehand who did blood pressure and so on and then saw the consultant after that. Aree you going as part of a clinic? Here they have the diabetes and thyroid clinic one afternoon a week. My next appointment is after my 20 week scan so in 3 weeks time. Can't wait to see the baby again!!

Munx2 · 12/04/2012 11:54

Oh and it will be thorough.....they check and double check your levels and set out a plan. I am sure you will do this anyway, but make sure they make you another appointment before you leave and get him/her to write your care plan in your notes so your MW can see it.

Sorry, being a bit bossy but my MW only realised she would check my thyroid more regularly after seeing it written in my pg record book by the consultant.

McPopcornMouseNFries · 12/04/2012 12:09

No, that's really helpful, thanks munx - I had a good google but couldn't find anything about what to expect at the appointment, so I'm a bit in the dark. So I should expect another appointment about 20-21 weeks, and I'll make sure they write about the test frequency in my book (the MW hasn't tackled my thyroid up to now, it's been left to the GP - so I expect she's not that clued up either)
Did you get sent off to have a blood test that day, or did you need to phone back for results or anything?

farfallarocks · 12/04/2012 13:43

Ooooh thanks for the shellfish tip, I had a read on NHS web and it does indeed seem ok. Prawns. Yum!

scream that is rubbish about the NCT meet up :(

McPopcornMouseNFries · 12/04/2012 13:59

Thought I'd have a second try at my mini eggs, but no, I feel like hurling. Which is really bizarre considering I've not had morning sickness. Baby does not like chocolate :(

scarletfingernail · 12/04/2012 16:21

Sad for you Popcorn try again in a couple of weeks. My taste buds were weird until about 22 weeks. Now there's nothing I don't eat Grin Great that you got the doppler and picked up the heartbeat.

Scream sorry your NCT friends have left you out. I'd guess no one is keen to host rather than it being anything personal. I suspect that once everyone's got to know each other a bit better someone will suggest a meetup at home.

Farfalla re the alcohol. I'm sure half a glass of wine is ok, probably on a weekly basis. That said, I did the first trimester alcohol free. If I'd had another MC I'd always have been wondering if it was my fault IYSWIM and I wanted to remove the amount of things I could blame myself for as much as possible. Since then I probably have a glass of wine with a meal about once every 2-3 weeks, so hardly worth bothering, but I love red wine too much to stop completely for the whole 9 months.

I slept much better last night and feel almost human again today. I wonder if the change in the baby's position made the difference. I have my fingers crossed that's the reason as I could certainly do with a few more nights like that. 39 weeks tomorrow Shock. My aim is for this baby to come out before next Wednesday (childcare for DS related) so I've bought 2 pineapples and another box of RLT today. I will also not be moved from my birthing ball once DS is in bed later.

How exciting scarlet you really are on the home stretch. Have fun bouncing!
I rarely drank before being pregnant so it hasn't been an issue for me. I have been finding it difficult to get meals down the last week or so, I am either not hungry or feel full after a few mouthfuls! I did manage a cream egg earlier though. I am still doing okay with my weight management and have only gained 8.5 lbs so far. I am sure my bump has grown this week though! I wonder if my work uniform will fit on Monday? I have upped my RL capsules to 4 a day now and I will start the max 6 a day next week. 35 weeks today!

scarletfingernail · 12/04/2012 18:36

Hey Wants not long til your DH is back. You must be so relieved to have got through the last 2 weeks without him. Unless you have a quick labour I reckon you'll be safe now at least until he's walked through the front door.
I meant to say to you the other day about the leakage issue. It could be wee. I've had a couple of incidents where I wasn't completely sure Blush and mentioned it to my MW friend last week. She said that they get loads of phone calls every day at the hospital where people think they may be leaking their waters but it is in fact wee. The pressure towards the end of pregnancy means you're probably not always even aware of it until you notice it in your pants.

Wants3 · 12/04/2012 19:31

Leakage has not been a problem today but I have been going to the loo alot! I have accepted that my pelvic floor is shot for now:)
I spoke to DH for the last time this afternoon, he should arrive home at about 7am on sat morning! They do say absence makes the heart grow fonder! These pregnancy hormones do funny things Blush
my sister and nephew are home!

Munx2 · 12/04/2012 19:41

Great news Wants!

I was in very heavy duty panty liners for the last two months of my pg with DD Blush ahem.

Pop my consultants appointment last time went through the bloods from the MW appointment which was only a week beforehand. But push for them to do them then and there if they haven't been done for a while, and as I say make sure everything is put in your book.

I am finding it hard to type on my iPad due to my bump being in the way Blush

Munx2 · 12/04/2012 19:41

Obviously the great news is your DN being home not your lack of leakage......

jenfraggle · 12/04/2012 20:36

Glad your nephew is home wants

TheLittleFriend · 12/04/2012 21:02

Popping by with an embarrassing "too much MN" confession. I had a dream last night that I'd gone to visit dreams twins, but when I got there I couldn't park because Jen was in my space. I knew it was you, because the number plate was JENFRAGGLE BlushGrin

NinjaChipmunk · 12/04/2012 21:22

little that's brilliant!

Glad your DN is home wants and the op went well.

On the subject of wee, my pelvic floor has not really properly recovered from last time although that is my fault for not really doing the exercises on a regular (if at all) basis. I'm ok as long as I don't sneeze/ shout etc when walking. I have promised myself to make the effort this time and am still failing. I really must pull my finger out and sort it out. I've only had to wear a liner twice so far and i'm 29 weeks so i guess its not sooooo bad. And so far I don't have to pee at night either.

So I officially have 4 weeks left at work and my mat cover starts on Monday. Yippee!! I'm halfway through writing my handover notes and me and my boss are already discussing how things are going to be handed over. Which is good as my ability to concentrate is getting worse by the day. Grin

scarlet glad you got a good nights sleep, makes all the difference i think. Hope its the same tonight.

jaggythistle · 12/04/2012 21:57

glad your DN is home wants :) and yay for DH nearly home!

also glad I'm not the only one to have had a 'mumsnet dream'! Blush

adding to the TMI, i do still appear to have slight leakage of some sort. i don't think it's wee... some of it does appear a bit erm gelatinous, but it's only a little bit so not getting excited about a show. even more TMI Blush i was worried the other day that i had thrush for the third frickin time this pg but it seems not.

not long to go ninja! Grin

hawthers · 12/04/2012 22:45

I confess there was an amount of wee leakage towards the end of my pg. But all has popped back into place after although that could be due to the 'lovely' cs I had

McPopcornMouseNFries · 13/04/2012 10:19

Cheers munx my bloods were ages ago so I'll ask them to do more and refuse to leave til they do :)

jenfraggle · 13/04/2012 10:31

Ha ha, that would be a cool numberplate. I'm afraid that I'm going to have to disappoint you and confess to having just a bog standard one, although it is Cornish if that helps?

Morning all! How are all the No Brookers today?

Jaggy? Scarlet? How were your nights?

I have resigned myself to the fact that miniScream has settled in for the long haul. I don't think anything will be happening at this end before the 25th. I blame DH and his ridiculous 10lbs birth weight for this!
