Here we go again.......

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
pommedechocolat · 10/04/2012 19:32

dream - omg your poor dh, what timing. Brooking for him to get better ASAP so he can help you. You're amazing ebf ing twins with dd and no dh. How is dd?

Brooking for Ben too.

Take those injections . You are at risk and a Dvt or worse is no fun, take it from me. They're not that bad really.

Great to hear from you xx

TheLittleFriend · 10/04/2012 19:40

OMG dream you are doing such an amazing job. Can't believe the bad luck of your dh being that ill in the lil' ones first week too!! I think you are all the Brookers hero at the moment Thanks

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 10/04/2012 19:45

Oh Dream my lovely! :( I wish I could help you out! I simply cannot believe that your poor DH contracted such an unusual problem right when you're recovering from a cs and dealing with newborn twins! I know that you're superwoman, but I really wish the universe would just cut you some slack!

It sounds like you've been doing phenomenally well through all of this. Has the person you hired been around to help with your DD and the boys? I will be doing some concerted No Brooking for the whole Dream household, hoping for your DH to get better asap, for your DD to stay well, and for your teeny twin (Is Ben or Seb the smaller one?) for put on weight fast enough to avoid being readmitted. I'm also hoping you'll manage to get some more sleep over the coming days. Just ebfing twins is impressive enough, without doing it all without your DH and having to deal with your toddler as well, whilst recovering from major surgery!

This too SHALL pass though. One day this will all be an exceptionally effective story to tell your boys to make them feel guilty whenever they don't do as they're told! Grin

Munx2 · 10/04/2012 20:11

Hello everybody!

Well I can see that dream has had her twins, many many congratulations I hope you are all doing well.

Forgive me, after ten days away I won't be able to read back and properly catch up, but I hope everybody is doing OK?

DreamingOfPeace · 10/04/2012 20:52

We've been very lucky, always had a family member to help with DD, still do until sat which will be our first day ad a family of 5 with no help. I found the hospital stay, being on my own the vast majority of the day bar evening visiting and alone all night hard physically and emotionally. I was in a side room which was great, I was just emotional and worried about dh and finding the duo hard work. It's better being home, but I'm feeling a bit anxious about coping in general. Nanny type lady starts in 2 or 3 weeks on Wed and Fri. Dh has been at hospital daily, another appt 1 pm tomorrow, but we're hopeful because today he can do poppers for the boys. He was having to use the heels of both hands to squeeze toothpaste- can't describe how worried we both were, but its certainly not progressing further.

Hi munx, hope you've had a great hol.

And a quick scroll back and I saw musical has a date for her move and a film piece to compose, hurrah!! Talent envy.

Boys not giving me a minute without one or both on the boob tonight, getting sore already as neither nipple can ever have a break!

Biscuitsandtea · 10/04/2012 20:57

Welcome back munx - hope you're ok Smile

Dream - what can I say? You are in fact superwoman, which we all already knew. But as Scream says you really deserve a bit of slack from the universe.

I really hope your DH gets better soon - I've no idea what that condition is, but I am hoping it is easily fixable?

You are doing an AMAZING job ebf those boys! Well you're doing an AMAZING job just doing everything you're doing every day! I don't know even where to begin with how well you're doing!

Has your help lady been able to help yet? Or any parents? I do hope you're getting some support?

I'm also brooking my socks off that Ben puts some weight on and avoids going back into hospital. We brookers are not going to stand for any hospital business - no siree!

Biscuitsandtea · 10/04/2012 20:59

Cross post Dream

Have some more hugs though xx

Munx2 · 10/04/2012 21:13

Dream you are doing amazingly well, i echo all Biscuits has said.

I hope you get a bit of respite from the marathon feeding soon and the wee one puts the weight on required. DD ended up back in and on a regimented feeding regime but we are brookers and all shall be fine for you my lovely.

I hope your DH feels better soon as well, that can't be easy.

It is perfectly normal to be anxious, but we are all here for you whenever you need us.

How aree you Biscuits? And the little one? How is DS1 adjusting to his new brother?

All fine here, MW tomorrow we are going en famille as DH has the day of work so hoping dd will hear the heartbeat too. A bit nervous, but DC2 wriggling around like a good un, had an anterior placenta with dd but guessing not the case with dc2? We'll see.

scarletfingernail · 10/04/2012 21:39

Wow Dream how much have you had thrown at you? You really are incredible coping with all of that and EBFing twins! I'm in awe of you completely. Brooking for Ben and your DH. You've definitely had more than your share of challenges over the last few weeks.

wants I hope your nephew is ok, I'm sure he's being very well taken care of.

Good to hear from you munx, glad things are going well.

Yay for moving date musical, so hopefully you'll be in before the baby arrives.

Hope everyone else is ok, sorry I've got memory blank re what everyone else has posted and I'm on my phone which makes it hard to go back.

I had a routine MW appt earlier. The baby is definitely still transverse but now lying the other way across! What an awkward little monkey, it's shifted round the other way but still won't go head down! Anyway she reckons that if the ECV is a success tomorrow they may well induce me there and then as the baby would now be classed as an unstable lie as it's cleiarly still moving about making it dangerous for labour to start. She reckons they'll want out while they can see it's head down. Yikes!

Either way whether it works or now she thinks the baby will be here before my due date either for the reason above or the CS if the ECV fails. I'm excited about potentially having it in the next couple days but also worried in case I don't get back tomorrow to see DS before the baby comes.

jaggythistle · 10/04/2012 21:51

aw dream that is such awful luck. :( really hope your DH recovers quickly! my friend's dd was 4lb10 at birth (about 5 wks early) and home within a couple of days so i see what you mean about the readmission if he seems to be doing fine?

exciting stuff scarlet! hope it all works out ok.

still getting false labour pains going right down my legs (quite ouchy right now), think it'll drive me nuts if it goes on for 2 weeks! I'm going to think happy thoughts that it's my uterus practicing, i can practice breathing and relaxing and maybe my cervix might start getting ready. there, that's my no brooking attitude sorted.

also on phone and totally failing at scrolling back, hello to everyone else!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 10/04/2012 22:00

Wowee Scarlet! Full steam ahead!! I hope you've checked your phone has full reception at the hospital! [prioritising the important things first emoticon]

No Brooking for a painless and easy day for you tomorrow, whether or not your sneeze birth happens tomorrow or is scheduled as a cs in the next few days. What time is your appt? What are you hoping the outcome will be?

Sorry for not mentioning Musical's news before, that is so exciting! Yay for the house move date and ooooooooo for the film score!

Jaggy that sounds painful :( I hope your body wraps up it's practice asap! Fingers crossed we both follow Scarlet within 24 hours - wouldn't it be amazing to have a snuffly new baby by the weekend?!

jaggythistle · 10/04/2012 22:12

it has actually been surprisingly painful, but seriously quite good for realising that it makes me tense up so I'm getting good at trying my hypnotherapy breathing and relaxing. it's only a few times on and off through the day.

still frickin ironing here. i hate ironing, which is why i have so much all the time. this is how i spent my last mat leave too. Blush

am going to have to catch stuff out of the drier quicker and lower our wrinkle standards I already iron as little as possible.

how many in a full set of baby teeth? still haven't figured out if DS has all his yet and he is behaving like a grumpy teething boy. chewing on hands and stuff, randomly dribbling and odd nappies/ rashy bum. will have to Google later...

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 10/04/2012 22:37

Grin Jaggy I feel as though your first sentence sums up my entire experience of pregnancy perfectly: "It has actually been surprisingly painful"

MeconiumHappens · 10/04/2012 23:25

hello lovely rat smackers :) Just the occasional pop in to see who has won a baby (just cant keep up with the thread anymore!)

FARFALLA!!!!!! congrats!!!!!!!! so pleased for you to be pee stick endorsed :)

and DREAM congrats on the arrival of your lovely boys.

Cant believe how quickly these pregnancies have whizzed by! Am 37 weeks now, have felt so well throughout (touch wood) that i dont really feel that pregnant and it is all a bit surreal! Cant believe there will be a baby any day now!
Hope everyone is well :)

Biscuitsandtea · 11/04/2012 08:12

Just a really quick post to say GOOD LUCK to Scarlet for the ECV today....

Really hoping it's all ok. You know with DS could you tell him that when you go in today it's so they can decide if the baby has to come out today or if it will be in a day or two? So you might have it today and then it won't be a surprise for him if you do have to stay in and be induced? Is DH coming with you? Have you got it all sorted for DS in case they do keep you in?

Brooking for another birthathon. This thread does babies in 3 excellently. We had me, Too and Purple within 4 days, then Fishcake and Dream's boys. So we could easily manage Scarlet, Jaggy, and Scream in quick succession?

How lovely to see you Meconium, I'd wondered what happened to you. 37 weeks already - do you feel things are going to happen imminently? We will maybe have a 4 baby birthathon this time?

McPopcornMouseNFries · 11/04/2012 09:12

Good luck scarlet! Fingers very much crossed :)

And dream ohmygoodness you are superwoman. What a difficult time you've been having. I'm glad DH seems to be improving and that they're keeping a close eye on him - and you should totally take all your injections; it's far less inconvenient to take them than to deal with DVT.

Hi munx!

I ordered a doppler, it should be delivered today :)

Biscuitsandtea · 11/04/2012 09:18

Oooh ooh I meant to say that too yesterday.

Dream - take your injections. They've given them to you for a reason. I don't know how they decide how long you take them for but they must have some reason for giving them to you for so long. Superwoman you may be, but surely the injections are better that getting dvt or whatever? You have way enough on your plate - don't risk anything else

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 11/04/2012 09:51

Lots of No Brooking for Scarlet's appt today! If you get a chance to come online before the appt do let us know what time it will start, and what you're hoping the outcome will be? Would you prefer the successful turn / induction today or unsuccessful turn / cs next week?

Still No Brooking for the entire Dream household, I do hope your DH continues to improve rapidly and feeding is going well. Hope the boys start to synchronise as well, so that you can get some more sleep! I'm not going to comment on the injections, because I think if someone tries to get me to take 6 weeks of injections I will cry!

pommedechocolat · 11/04/2012 10:24

scream and dream - if you get a DVt they will make you take injections and warfarin. Warfarin carries risjs of internal bleeding and you can only drink 2 units of alcohol in a go and can't eat cranberries in any form. You also have to go to a clinic and have your inr levels monitored very regularly.

Take the injections!!

Brooking fir scarlet!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 11/04/2012 11:13

I'm not saying I wouldn't take the injections Pomme, I'm just saying there would definitely be tears! I hate injections at the best of times, and the idea of SIX WEEKS of self-administered injections is quite terrifying for me. (That's because I'm a total wuss though, and nothing like superwoman Dream!)

Plus the limited research carried out on the risk of DVT arising purely from having a cs when you have no other risk factors suggests that the risk from a cs is extremely low, in the region of 0.5%, and the medical approach to dealing with this risk varies hugely from hospital to hospital. Some hospitals, like Too's, believe that a day or two of injections is sufficient, while others recommend the full 6 week course. I would want a comprehensive explanation of why 6 weeks is necessary for me if that's what the docs at my hospital ask me to sign up to. That doesn't mean I would automatically refuse to take them though.

On the other hand my fibroids give me a higher than average risk of hemorrhage even after the operation is completed. High risk of bleeding is a contraindication for drugs like clexane, so this might get me out of it!

farfallarocks · 11/04/2012 11:31

Are these injections heparin? I am having to take them until 25 weeks and potentially for the whole pregnancy!! They so smart a bit but I think they are a wonder drug!!! My top tip is that if its not going in easily, don;t force it, try another area.

scarlett brooking that your baby moves and labour starts!

Biscuitsandtea · 11/04/2012 11:56

OMG what a night / morning

DS2 was up from about 3:30 when his cold made a sudden comeback so he'd feed, doze for a few moments, realise he couldn't breathe, cry a lot, repeat...... Then ds1 decided to get up at about 4:30, so I had to put him back to bed, then more feeding / cold with ds2, then DH got up, then I dozed for about 30 mins and then ds1 was up at about 7 (the last week he's got up at 8 - why today?)

So then I try to get ds1 to lie in bed without nagging me for stories (failed miserably, read a lot of stories, interspersed with picking up ds2 so he could clear his snot and go back to sleep). Then finally summons enough energy to get up but ds2 hungry so set off to feed him before I shower. Subsequent nappy change = poo everywhere Sad. Carpet, chair, me etc. eventually concede I'm going to have to bath him. Do that, whilst trying to convince ds1 to play with his duplo away from the poo on the carpet.

DS1 finally gets some Cheerios at 10am. I nip up to get dressed (first day of having children that I've not managed to shower Sad). Then peg out 3 loads of washing, attempt to remove korma coloured poo stains from carpet, tidy everything else up.

Am knackered!

Sadly I'd also promised ds1 I'd do baking with him today as my mum bought him baking stuff for Easter (you may recall she's the same woman that bought painting stuff for an older child when the new baby was born - cheers mum Hmm)

So we're just getting going on the baking and DS2 decides its time for a feed so poor ds1 gets stuck in front of CBeebies again while I feed. Poor poor ds1 he's getting such a raw deal. Sad

I on the other hand am just tired - and unreasonably cross that DH was supposed to be off this week and isn't - I could kind of have done with him this morning!

Sorry for the mememe post but do feel free to see the funny side and laugh! Smile

Brooking for Scarlet - your small person will be here soon! Grin

Biscuitsandtea · 11/04/2012 11:57

Man that was long Blush!

Back to the carrot cakes with ds1......

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 11/04/2012 12:12

Hello all! Sorry for the radio silence - have been posting a bit on the post-natal thread but this one moves so fast I felt a bit overwhelmed.

Scarlet, good luck today! Oo-er for potentially being induced at once - Brooking for a fast sneeze birth if that happens. I hope it all goes well.

Dream, I am in awe, you are superwoman! Your poor DH, you must be so worried. I hope he gets better v soon.

interrupted by M - will post more later!

McPopcornMouseNFries · 11/04/2012 12:13

Oh biscuits! Shock you must be cream crackered. My sister's stock response to such gifts from our mother was "DS1 will really enjoy making that with you when you visit next" :o
