Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Could be your body preparing for labour Scream? Your hormones all of a fluster as it realises it has a fortnight max until pregnancy is over although I'm sure it will be before then

jaggythistle · 10/04/2012 13:16

No bad thanks Biscuits

Had a bit better sleep last night too. Still a bit in denial about my aching fanjo - hurts a lot turning over/getting up at night. Might mention to MW tomorrow as it is a bit worse.

Still getting painful BHs on and off - rather inconveniently when I was trying to get DS settled for a nap there! Touch wood the last couple of days he's settled ok, maybe got used to having Mummy round the house again!

Should really get some lunch and ironing in now. Woo!

Popcorn I had really bad breathlessness for at least the first half of my pg with DS - it was so bad I had to have a couple of days off once. It turned out to be just 'one of those pg things' after I had had my asthma checked, iron levels tested and been sent to talk to the consultant!

It did get better but still bugged me on and off till DS was born. So glad not to have it this time! The only thing I found that helped was more sleep so I napped a lot. Hope it passes a bit for you soon.

I didn't get DS's red book till after the HV came round at 10 days. The MWs recorded everything up till then.

Right away to get busy!

McPopcornMouseNFries · 10/04/2012 14:42

So you didn't have any sort of treatment jaggy and it just went? It sounds ridiculous considering I'm only 14 weeks, but I worry how the hell I'll manage labour if I'm out of puff going to the shops Blush

Ah, yes I don't see my midwife til I'm 23 weeks or so jen - I think the consultants appointments replace some of the MW ones??

jenfraggle · 10/04/2012 14:45

2nd trimester is easiest. I was constantly tired in the 1st, fairly normal in the second and constantly tired again now :)

musicalmrs · 10/04/2012 14:54

Jen, with regard to antenatal classes here, I think we were told to phone up at 30 weeks or something. We phoned the midwives' office, and got told they were practically all booked up. Nevertheless we managed to squeeze into the parentcraft day they had last weekend, which was useful. Give them a call if you haven't already! Like scarlet mentioned, not all of the courses are necessarily useful for everyone - I found labour and delivery pretty annoying (but good for DH), but went to one course which was called "Baby bathing" but was a crash course in doing everything (from nappies to holding to discharge from the hospital to the test that a run - basically everything ater birth!). It was definitely the most useful course we attended - that and the tour round the local MLU.

Jen / Biscuits - here you get given the red book when the baby is discharged from the hospital (hurrah - shows I did learn something from parent craft!).

Wants, brooking for your DN.

Stacks, I know what you mean about not feeling pregnant - I didn't for a long time, even after having scans! It'll all sink in eventually!

Far, wow 10 weeks has gone fast! (bet it seems very slow to you though!). As has your time Popcorn! I felt knackered for about the first 17-18 weeks - not sure why, but it just hit me really hard. Found my energy picked up after that though (though it's starting to fade now!).

Hope all the baby brookees are doing well!

I've been suffering some technical issues here (overheating laptop - waiting to hear if it's in warranty before I pull it apart myself or ship it off somewhere!), hence the radio silence -though I've been catching up on my phone. We also now finally have a potential completion date for our house of 27th April, with a plan to move in the week after! Hurrah!

I have my last day of work tomorrow - going in for an audit (and as I know more about it than anyone else, it makes sense for me to be there) - then I'm free! Though I have madly offered to write a film score over the next couple of weeks.. but it's not too intense a project luckily, so should just keep me ticking over!

35w+2 today, hurrah! Wish the next two weeks would whizz by..

jaggythistle · 10/04/2012 14:55

yes popcorn, but defo get iron checked if possible as that is a possibility. i remember it easing off a bit by 20 weeksish, but my mum and work colleagues were always worrying about me yawning and trying to get my breath all the time!

DS just waking up now so time for expedition to shops. somehow we forgot to buy any fruit and veg last time!

McPopcornMouseNFries · 10/04/2012 14:59

Write a film score musical Shock wow that's impressive - you'll have to let us know what film it is so we can all go and see it :o

Ok will do jaggy - I will mention it to the obstetrician next week, hopefully they'll just add an iron check on to whatever else it is they'll be testing :)

musicalmrs · 10/04/2012 15:12

Not a film as in a feature film in the cinema Popcorn sadly! A short film, but it already has places in a couple of film festivals I think, so I can't complain :)

They should be checking your iron levels quite regularly during pregnancy anyway - I definitely had some bloods done around the time you are now - have you had any done yet? Had more of mine taken today for a final iron check before the big day - looking forward to my one creme egg per vial as per brooker's instructions later Grin

McPopcornMouseNFries · 10/04/2012 15:31

I had some done at 7/8 weeks iirc, when I booked in, but that's it - but I'm hoping the obs appointment next week will be quite thorough as I've been a bit cast adrift by the GPs who "don't know what to do with me" - they're even refusing to test my thyroid themselves (I'm hypo, which is why I've been referred to obs, but first appointment's not til 15 weeks so I've been left to my own devices a bit) Hmm

How long have you got left to go, musical?

Wants3 · 10/04/2012 15:54

Hello all, thanks for thinking of DN. I will let you know how it all goes as soon as I hear!
Quick question for those who went into labour recently as opposed to 14 years ago did you experience an increase in ahem, dampness down below close to the end? I have had to wear a pad today as feeling uncomfortable Blush

McPopcornMouseNFries · 10/04/2012 16:04

Obv I have no experience whatsoever Blush but I've heard some people get a slow leak of waters before labour instead of a gush, wants?

You know you're pregnant when you start sobbing over PostSecret.com :o

cakes82 · 10/04/2012 16:11

Hope DN is ok Wants

Have spoken to a mw, mine is on annual leave. Brown spotting is good in scheme of things cause its old. No pain is good too. If anything changes get back in touch otherwise don't worry! TMI alert may have irritated cervix having SFF. Have decided my body is continuing the awkwardness it was capable of in the 16mths TTC as well as the 6 years of regular appts for abnormal smears.

Popcorn 14+4 here and still tired, hate to say this but I sometimes think its worse than earlier in the pg.

Have been reading a book today about bonding with your baby whilst your pg, with touch and talk from both parents. It goes on about smiling at bump and lots more happiness than stress. Also had the idea that if you eat a variety of fruit and veg whilst pg and bf that when your baby goes onto solids they will be less fussy eaters? I think some of book is fine in an ideal world but not always so easy to achieve.

Sorry for mammoth post hope everyone feeling ok!

Biscuitsandtea · 10/04/2012 16:24

Wants, I would say I had an increase in discharge but not enough to need a pad. Pops is right in that you can have a leak of waters. Does it smell of anything?

Might be worth getting it checked just in case? If you've got a pad on they can use that to check? I'm sure it won't be because you're a brooker though Smile

McPopcornMouseNFries · 10/04/2012 16:31

Yeah I think mine's worse rather than better cakes :(
Are you getting movement yet? I can feel shuffling if I keep very still with my hands on my tummy (I feel it in my hands rather than my tummy iyswim) which is helping with the "bonding" :)

Glad the MW said it's nothing to worry about :)

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 10/04/2012 16:43

Just wrote a mammoth ranty post generally railing at the world, then had to call Amazon about returning an item they incorrectly sent to me, and in the process I lost my ranty post.

Now this is good for two reasons - 1) I really shouldn't even have drafted the ranty post, I've been trying to stay away from this thread today to avoid inflicting my foul mood on you all. 2) It meant that I took my ranty mood out on the Amazon person instead, and now they're sending a courier out tomorrow morning to collect the £8 item they sent to me by mistake Grin This is a huge improvement over them expecting me to get down to the post office and queue for hours to send THEIR MISTAKE back to them via recorded delivery. The Amazon woman now knows far too much about my pregnancy and SPD and won't be trying to make me go anywhere ever again Grin

I'm glad Cakes has been reassured about the spotting. I'm still No Brooking for Wants' DN. I hope everyone else is generally well and symptom-light?

I will be replacing my rant (about the sheer number of people emailing/texting every day to ask if I've had the baby yet! Argh!) with a random fact instead: The physio has explained to me today that because I've been using the crutches in lieu of putting weight on my left leg (due to the sciatica) over the last 3 months my left glutes have basically disappeared. In the mean time my right glutes have bulked up to compensate. So in essence I now have a lopsided ass!!! Oh the glamour of pregnancy!

McPopcornMouseNFries · 10/04/2012 16:52

That's bizarre scream I'd have expected them to say just keep the £8 item and send you a replacement?!?! Got to be cheaper than the postage, surely! But well done on getting them to do the running around :o

Not meaning to belittle your pain scream but your last paragraph made me think of that episode of the Simpsons where Homer bulks up one arm and becomes an arm wresting champ :o Hopefully you'll pop soon and you can get back to normal :)

cakes82 · 10/04/2012 16:55

Brilliant Pop :o I thought I felt a fluttering last night in bed but it was so quick and I was half asleep not really sure if it was baby or not. Nothing else otherwise. Oh I am still feeling hungry but when I'm at work I can't do anything about it. My students are food orientated most of the time so I can't really in fairness have something and not give them something Hmm
I see mw again on 19th April to possibly be told barely put any weight on.
Have you got much baby brain?

McPopcornMouseNFries · 10/04/2012 17:02

No more than normal cakes but I was never really "with it" to begin with :o
My hunger's dropped back to normal levels thank goodness - it must be a real struggle for you though! Are you a teacher, then? :)

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 10/04/2012 17:02

Popcorn that's an excellent point, I just need to find a sport where having a particularly strong right buttock will give me a huge advantage Grin

cakes82 · 10/04/2012 17:31

For want of a better description i'm a classroom assistant come support worker for students with learning disabilities in a residential school.
My memory could be bad on a good day now its even worse :o

Biscuitsandtea · 10/04/2012 17:45

Hey Scream, just wondered if you'd, you know, had the baby yet? WinkGrin

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 10/04/2012 17:55

Well Biscuits I don't think the baby's come out yet, but thank you ever so much for reminding me to check - otherwise it might have completely slipped my mind!

I am thinking of employing a coin toss for future enquiries. Heads I give a straight answer. Tails I tell them that I had the baby two months ago and I am so offended at the lack of a congratulatory card that I feel we can no longer be friends Grin

jaggythistle · 10/04/2012 17:57

i am definitely a bit more leaky in the last few weeks, wants not enough for a pad just a liner (more pg glamour!) my friend had slowly leaking waters, mine went in several gushes during early labour. then they found some more to get with the crochet hook later. I'd say what what i have now is not em, watery enough to be waters though. Blush

another glamorous tip - if you are in a position to need a MW to check whether your it's your waters or not, make sure you are wearing a maternity pad not Always or whatever - they are a bit grumpy as they can't tell properly for some reason. they didn't believe me last time and I've heard the same story from a few friends!

good job on the ranting scream, amazon are usually pretty good too. I'm sure your bum will recover in no time!

I'm still really hungry a lot, although i do find i can't fit as much in. i did just manage a whole pizza which i was quite impressed with.

DreamingOfPeace · 10/04/2012 19:27

Hi all

Not managed to keep up/ catch up with the thread...

The duo are keeping me knackered. We escaped hospital on day 4, good job as mw weighed little Ben at home on day 5 and although he's doing well, only lost 4% of his birth weight he's now 5lb 6 or 2.46kg which puts him into the check blood sugars if in, don't discharge territory so phew for our escape. He's a bit little, and a bit jaundiced and ebf but they're making a big fuss about his weight and saying it'll be re-checked Thursday and talk of re-admission?! Don't know why, surely smaller babies than him go home just fine?! So he's been poked and prodded and blood tested for his jaundice :-( . His brother is a good troffer, much easier to feed, better latch. Though for four nights both fed, were winded, changed and wanted feeding again that by 3 am each night i hadn't even been able to lie down, let alone sleep... Lots of tears and exhaustion from me. Have been coping on 1 hr 40 min sleep a night. Last night i had 2 blocks of 2 hours and feel better.

The whole thing has been so hard though as dh is ill. He has unusual symptoms, with muscle weakness and some finger numbness, to the extent he couldn't do up poppers for the babies. He has been discharged from hospital now for more tests as an outpatient to confirm a provisional diagnosis of polymyositis but I've been alone with the duo a lot. So, enough whinging. My boys are lovely and I'm very lucky and this too shall pass! And fingers crossed for my dh to recover quickly.

wants, hope your dh home before this baby arrives! I did get lots of extra discharge by the end.

scream, good skills with Amazon. My CS was lovely too. Quick, straightforward. Pain always manageable, turning over/ in and out of bed the hardest but not awful. I'm up and after DD and the twins fine now on day 6. Much easier in bed, but i do still have some pain, obviously.Stopping pain relief bar paracetamol though as diclofenac is making me feel so sick I can't eat enough to feel full due to feeling sick at meals. I can bend, put on socks and shoes, put on trousers etc fine, has been fine since day 4 for me. 6 weeks of the clexane injections though!!! Don't think I'll do them all. Maybe just 7 days, I don't know why I scored so highly to get the 6 weeks.

Hello to everyone else, sorry for the introverted, me me me post.

DreamingOfPeace · 10/04/2012 19:28

Oh, and think my boys def none identical. Will try n get pic on for opinions if I can take a decent one soon.
